When it comes to chocolate desserts it doesn’t get much better than a rich and decadent Flourless Chocolate Cake! The texture is almost brownie like and it’s so rich and chocolatey it’s hard to stop at one slice. Better yet, this is a 1 bowl cake so there’s minimal washing up involved and it’s made with just 7 simple pantry ingredients! It’s the perfect cake for any occasion whether you serve it for birthdays, Valentine’s Day, or just because you want a sweet treat.

Don't worry about the choco powder trying to mess with you by making a mess. I kid you not every single time I use it in a recipe. Chaos and anger rush trough me and my kitchen as I have to wipe up the table, the floor and anything in between.
Then I watch one of your videos whilst waiting for the goods to be baked and et voilà my mood lightens up :-) love your content.

He has a farm, he probably walks a few miles a day. The sugar burns off. Plus the kids will also keep him busy
I am going to go out on a limb and say moderation. He probably eats healthy and gets daily excercise.
@@RohenKapur exercise doesn't do that much to prevent you from being overweight, weight is primarily determined by diet.
@@snapgab I mean, yeah, but if you eat these desserts (even next to healthy nutrition on other occasions) you're gonna need that exercise. Good health is a combination of food choice, portion and exercise i.e. muscle mass that burns away the excess calories. No?

John - help! I love your receipes but this one just won't work. Comes out dry and cakey...also the top and bottom of the cake end up wider than the middle, like maybe it collapsed??
This recipe is for a dense torte. Gotta separate and whip the egg whites to get better result
I made this for my daughter this morning. It was easy and delicious. She is on a gluten free diet so it’s a great alternative to brownies or cake. And so much better in texture and taste. Thanks for the video. Funny and informative.

I at 56 foolish lick the spoon if it doesn’t taste good I am not letting no one eat it. A least that’s my excuse for licking the spoon.😉
I have an OCD of clearing the batter from the bowl to baking pan with a spatula until the bowl is squeaky clean😅😅 I won't waste even a drop of that lovely chocolate batter 😊
Made this and after my first bite I knew it would be a lifelong favourite. I took it to my parents’ and we had it with sharp summer berries and lightly whipped double cream. Very decadent and so easy to make!
This is very exciting because the main thing that always held me back from making your recipes is that I don't have a lot of cooking equipment....

I made this for my husband’s birthday and it is decadent. I have a crew of chocolate lovers and added John’s chocolate ganache. Sweet and rich! My boys ate it up; the 8 inch size served 7. The next time I’ll use the cocoa powder on top and maybe some fruit. It will help balance the richness of the cake.
I make a similar recipe at my restaurant - in order to make them more even and uniform we place the pan in a hotel pan with a wire rack on the bottom and fill it with water so it cooks evenly. Hope that helps!
Can you explain that better please? You have cake on top rack and a pan with water on bottom? Or pan with a cake goes into a bigger pan that has water in and you place it all on the bottom rack?Thank you!
I just made this cake tonight and it was absolutely delicious and decadent. My husband is GF so this was perfect!
I just made the cake too and it looked so nice and fluffy in the oven but after some time after baking it became so flat... was yours so flat too? I don't know if my pan was a little bit larger or if I did something wrong but my cake looks smaller than his 😕
@@Magda_7396 Mine flattened out too..I think it's supposed to be fudgy . Did you use an 8 inch pan? If it's larger it will result in a flatter cake too :)

Absolutely delicious! Just baked it while cooking dinner and we already ate most of it! The real treat is that there's practically no mess making this :) The moisture level is just perfect and sweetness too (made with 55% Belgian chocolate)

Yesterday, I spent hours googling a recipie for flowerless orange cake and I got seriously frustrated, this was a first time when I felt like Google failed me, they were all either ingredient heavy, or written in a way that you need to read an essay first in order to find out the actual recipie, I found myself screaming at the phone "I really don't care about your grandma what are the ingridients!" So please, when you feel like it I would love a moist orange cake recipie with almond flower and chocolate zest topping. Pretty Please 🙏🏻

Nice video. I noticed that you quartered the traditional recipe and added cocoa powder. I love these chocolate flourless cakes. I used to make one a few times a year, they became a family favorite. It's always fascinated me that three simple ingredients (four, if you use unsweetened chocolate and add your own sugar) can make something so amazing. The texture is divine; dense yet somehow not, silky, fudgy. Imo this is the best chocolate dessert.

I USED COCONUT SUGAR AND SUGAR-FREE DARK CHOCOLATE
Mine didnt turn out that good.
-it was very bitter without much sweetness at all-> I did use really bitter chocolate
-Kinda dry-> coconut sugar cooks quicker-> i took it out a few minutes late.
So how I am thinking about approaching these issues is adding more coconut sugar or honey (prob honey) and even adding some cream cheese to give it more of a cheesecake texture (we had something similar at a restaurant--> spiked my motivation to bake it at home😂)

30 or so years ago a local bakery made this cake and called it Chocolate Sin Cake, the only thing different is they added ganache on top, talk about some serious chocolate! It is also nice w/a plop of real whipped cream. Seriously, this is a delish cake. In the past when I have made it people are so impressed, they have no clue how simple it is. I am going to have to make it soon, it brings back such fond memories. Thank you!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I tried a hand mixer with this recipe, however mixing with a whisk creates a much BETTER result! Also make sure you look at it at the minimum time and keep an eye because it can get to done quickly. I don't know if it's because I used Xylitol instead of sugar but I stick to the minimum time.

Hi! Literally obsessed with you. I just made this cake and it was delicious. But I do think it would be good to add in the suggestion of whipping the egg whites to get a more lighter cake texture. Adding in 4 full eggs makes it a little dense.

Dusting the top with cocoa powder would give a bitter (?) taste wouldn't it? Would dusting it with powdered sugar be too sweet?
You could dust it with powdered sugar if you want. But, you really don’t notice a bitterness if you dust it lightly with cocoa powder. Just adds to the chocolately goodness.
