Chocolate 🍫 on pineapple cake? I just used some bourbon honey 🍯 in mines though I really only wanted bourbon but the bourbon flavor is still strong so I’m happy 😃!
To think, I’ve learned how to bake breads, croissants, cinnamon rolls, complicated cheesecakes, caramels, etc and have been, for many years, scared to try making lava cakes & now, I learn, they are THE EASIEST of all to make😂😂😂 Yep, making these for my mom’s 84th birthday next week!! Thank you so much!!❤❤❤
So I have made mac & cheese && lasagna with you so far. My kid's loved them! Lol I never had someone to teach me to cook.& I find a lot of people go too fast for me when I watch their videos. But you make it simple for me & explain steps. I really appreciate that. I must try this one next bc i am a chocolate lover
For real, I had it at Chili's when I was younger and I've been craving it ever since. Tonight I made the batter and bought some vanilla ice cream. Tomorrow I get to finally satiate that craving that's been haunting me for yeeeaarsss
Honestly, dominos lava cakes are amazing! If you're lazy, just order them & eat it with ice cream! They give you three of them in a box & it's part of the two for 5.99-6.99 deal! It's the only thing I order there @@KiIIua_
Thanks for this fabulous recipe. I made it today and left it in the fridge to bake this evening to enjoy after our Valentines dinner. I baked them for 7 min but they needed an extra 2 ( at least) because they were baked just out of the fridge. Otherwise perfect! Thanks for the recipe and tutelage, John. ❤❤❤❤❤
I know this is a different video but I made the thump print cookies yesterday for my friends and family and they absolutely loved it! My mom even asked me to make seconds tomorrow because she didn't get to eat much. I love you, truly a savor ❤
I used this recipe today, except I made two massive lava cakes in 10 oz ramekins and adjusted bake time to about 11 mins. They were extra runny, so probably could’ve used another minute or two in the oven. They tasted fantastic though! Thanks for the recipe 😊
Great recipe! I use a similar one. Instead of white sugar I use brown sugar as it gives a nicer molasses flavor. I also put frozen ganaches in the center to provide the lava. The batter though is the same.
Thanks John! Friends had us over for dinner recently and guess what she made for dessert!! These! I had no idea they were so easy! We all devoured them. Will have this in my recipe book.
Instead of flour to prep the ramekins, I use cocoa powder to dust the inside. Flour sometimes leaves a white residue (which is covered by the powdered sugar), but it still bothers me. The cocoa powder sometimes leaves a brown residue in the cakes, but it's not noticable and allows you to leave off the powdered sugar. I sometimes like non-sweetened whipped cream or just the raspberries. 💖🌞🌵😷
@@SweetChicagoGator, buy a pint of heavy cream, pour a bit in a bowl, whip with the hand mixer he used in the video and you have non sweetened whipped cream. Don't over whip or you'll have butter! Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Ps. I got the cocoa tip from Martha Stewart years ago.
When you make repeated recipes like this (I can see an old chocolate lava cake recipe from 4 years ago), I would love to hear how your recipe has developed since last time! I love your recipes, but they're also timeless (like the recipes I've tried in your cookbook), so unless I know how/why the recipe has evolved I don't know how to improve the desserts I've already learnt from you. Just a thought!
When u said u cant stop smiling while eating... i was doing that while watching u ... I watch ur videos like a marathon i really enjoy watching ur videos
Chocolate lava cake is not just undercooked chocolate cake. That's not what makes the center molten. You take a frozen cylinder of ganache and set it in the ramekin so that as the outside cooks fully, the inside becomes molten!
I think because these are baked at such a high temperature, they reach 165 degrees while still remaining molten in the middle. You could use a meat thermometer to check if you were really worried about it!
@@wesmains ya, that's how i always used to make it ( dropping a ball of ganche in the center or the ramekin) I found myself in the mood for a lava cake, so i looked up recipes and now I want to try this method, it looks so much easier!
You seem like the best Chef there is, when it comes to making cakes. They look so amazing & delicious. I want to try cooking everything you make, even your best savoury dishes as well. I am sure you have an European background. That is why you're a good cook. Thank you. John.😅👍💥🧡
Oh man. First was chocolate mousse, and now lava cakes. Delicious recipe, im so grateful for you for sharing this! Ill be making lava cakes for an upcoming wedding, all because of you!
These look great! I only have one question, would the eggs be fully cooked at a maximum of 8 minutes in the oven? Seems like a dumb question considering the middle is "lava", I'm just curious.
im going to try to make these for my boyfriend’s birthday, i hope he likes them! your video is very easy to follow and i am confident in my abilities. i thought it would be really difficult but you make it look so simple! thank you ☺️
Hi John. Can I change the bittersweet chocolate for white one? Must I change some other ingredient or the proportion of something? Thanks a lot. Greetings from Brazil.
I can’t wait to make this! I had no idea how easy it was to make a chocolate lava cake! I love watching your videos, and your recipes are amazing! I have some Valrhona in my cabinet calling my name! 😋
Wow...I never thought these would be so easy. I'd love to make these for a dinner party or a date night. By the way, whenever I bake anything chocolate, I use cocoa powder instead of flour to dust my greased pan.
Wow I never knew these required so little, wish me luck on making them. John will you please share what kind of chocolate bars you use and where they can be purchased. I don't comments much but watch alot thanks for sharing you do an amazing job teaching us.
My ramekins have arrived, I purchased the raspberries, I’ve chopped up my chocolate bars but today, while out, I discovered a new Cinnabon store, my weakness! Right now I’m waiting for my hips to digest them. I’ll make ur wonderful Lava Cake tomarrow! I can’t wait😊
Yummy! What a Perfect dessert to serve company Love your videos …. And I love many of your recipes in your cookbook. I am waiting for the arrival of your new cookbook.
How far in advance of serving can I make this ? Can I store in the fridge for an hour or two ? I doubt that last question, but willl ask anyhow, I might be surprised. Greetings from Canada

Yes I made those as well and filled them with lemon curd for Christmas. They were so easy but the BEST cookie of last year's selection!
