Never get tired of watching your videos !!! I just got my equinox 600 yesterday. First machine I've ever owned that wasn't real old or real cheap. I seen you running one and instantly wanted one...I've saved for a long time, and I know thete is going to be a learning curve, but I'm up for the challenge. I went out in the front yard for an hour and found a dozen clad coins and was very happy.the issue im having is I'll be going along and it just gets real noisy and the I.D. goes nutz and no matter what I do it wont stoo ybtul I turn it off and back on and re ground balance and noise cancel and then it's fine for a little while again... i know next to nothing about these type of detectors so i was hop in ng you've heard of this issue before or maybe you could give me some tips or advice on what I'm doing wrong or need to do. Thanks for all the videos, i enjoy watching..

Thanks for the comments. Right off the bat it sounds like an EMI issue. I think you done all the right things. I would take it somewhere else and see if the problem continues. If so it may have a problem or a bad coil. But really seems like EMI.
@@DirtFishing ok, thank you for taking the time to get back to me. I just watched a video where a guy was having the exact same problem and it was his cell phone causing the issue..he put it on airplane mode and it stopped in a couple seconds. He turned it back on and it did it again. He did that 3 times on and off and everytime it went crazy with it on and was perfect with it off. So I'm gonna try that when I go back out, but I'm gonna take your advice and go somewhere different and see what happens that way too. I'm very excited about having this machine. I just watched your video where you showed us how you set it up and I learned a lot from that. I've been watching your videos for quite a while, before I got the equinox and have enjoyed all of them. It's nice to have someone who's taking the time to teach us things instead of the old "look what I found see you on the next hole videos". I love seeing the things people find, but having you telling us what happening and why and marking some targets and telling us why you'd dig it and explaining everything is awesome I just wanted to let you know that you are helping a lot of us and we do appreciate you. @@jeffreysteen9820 Thanks for the positive comments. I guess I make the videos the way I like to watch them. I dont like the ones that show a coin in a pile of dirt and say ok see you on the next dig. they dont show the id number the detector sounds, etc. I never thought about a cell phone doing that. I carry mine with em sometimes and dont have that issue.
@@DirtFishing I'm with you 100% on the videos. It's nice to hear the tone and see the I.D. number. Especially when your using the same detector that we have... we learn what to expect... what tones actually mean and what I.D. number is coming up for what target... I watched enough of your videos, that I felt like I knew my detector before I ever got it. I wanted to ask your opinion on the update minelab put out for the equinox. I dont really understand it, or what it's for. Theres some guys who say dont do it and others who say it worked great. Have you had any experience with it, and if so what do you think about it..? Sounds like your quite knowledgeable ..will subscribe and hope to see more tutorials on the equinox 800 got rid of my CTX 3030 it sucked .. now if I could just find a place that is selling the 800..

Great video Bill thanks for sharing =) Getting an EQ 800 tomorrow so getting ready to hit the ground with it. I emailed minelab about this but they sort of dodged the questions so would like to get your opinion since you have some hours on it. Do you think the iron bias on the eq800 is similar to adjusting the FE line on the etrac/ctx? What I'm assuming is that 0-9 on the 800 would represent something like 27-15 on the etrac or similar numbers. When you say you had to turn the iron bias all the way off when testing to get the deeper stuff did it seem gradual or did you find that you had to have 0 in order for it to get the depth you wanted? Most the soil here in TN is red clay and more dense then we have in MO so it will be hard for me to test the deeper stuff often with it.
Havent heard from you in a while....;o) No I don't believe adjusting the iron bias is like the FE line on the Etrac. I think it only helps tame some of the false signals you may get from the iron. Me and Craig compared some signals and I could hit them with the iron bias turned all the way down but he could not get them when he had his set. It may have had something to do with the depth of the target. Maybe it was deep enough that the detector thought it was iron and surpressed it. Let me know what you think of it. I bet you like the CTX better....;o)
Ya I've been working on my own projects so not detecting that much. East TN has been good to me though. My last rampage with the CTX I got 136 silver in just over 2 1/2 months. After that I've just been going occasionally when I have the time. Here the coins don't go deep and if the 800 has a faster processor and better at unmasking it might outperform CTX in general conditions. I guess we'll see. As far as depth goes is it terribly worse than the CTX/etrac on silver from what you guys have tested? Minelab has said it isn't as good at deep silver as CTX but they also say that different modes have different frequencies so they could have easily put some lower frequency weighting in there for coins. If not maybe eq 1,000 will have coin mode and a bigger battery to sustain lower frequencies...
What is the chance you will do a video on how to set up the wireless headphones??? I think that would be very helpful!! I am not having luck getting mine to work. Thanks
Let me figure out how to do it....Lol I have never used them.
Hold the wireless button and the on button on the headphones for about 5 seconds at the same time. The headphones will start blinking red and blue. If they arent blinking red and blue hold again till they do. Then just wait for about 10 seconds and it should connect. Took me like half an hour to work it out ha ha I was so frustrated

You could always try lifting the coil as you swing the detector over the target. A lot of times the ID will drop off. I have found a few of them and they always seem to hit around 13 for some reason. Some times they have some iron numbers in the mix.
Yes Daryl from St Joseph Missouri sorry to bother you again but do you have any tips on how to distinguish bottle caps from coins on the equinox I didn't know if there was any tricks I can learn to help with that
Do you mean aluminum or steel bottlecaps.
Please dont take to much notice about the battery being not charged ..... the battery will be a chemical one ie LIPO or LIFO these batteries when not in use should be stored at about 30% charge unlike Nicads, nickle and lead acid batteries that should be charged up ASAP and kept fully charged so dont run home after being out all day and charge your machine unless you are going out next day. so rule of thumb dont fully discharge your battery and ony charge it the night before. this applies any electrical item that uses lipo, lifo batteries. this will give you a longer life for your batteris.

Would you be able to make a video on just all the TONE settings. It’s kinda of confusing with Tone Volume, Target Tone, Tone Pitch, Tone Break, Threshold Pitch, etc. What’s the difference between a Tone and a Pitch anyway, aren’t they the same thing?

The Equinox 800 does not have an icon for the target as the White's Spectra V3i? All it has is a beep and a VDI (Visual Discrimination Indication numbers)I? Thanks for the video!

Hello from México very good video , i have three question one is what the diference on recovery speed and Also in volumen of threashold please help me becuase i have many false signals in soil fields thanks alot sorry about my english
On the recovery speed the higher the number the faster it will recover between targets but higher numbers can mean less depth. I would not think the threshold volume would have anything to do with the falsing. Make sure you ground balance and noise cancel plus you could lower the sensitivity a bit.

I wouldn't worry about buying one now. They can be updated through the usb so its no big deal now. its not like you would have to send the detector back in every time they found a bug. Or you can wait and probably pick up a used one a lot cheaper. They have a 3 year transferable warranty.
