- This video demonstrates how to setup the Equinox 800 on the Beach. We also burry a King George Cooper 12 inches down in the wet sand as well as test a 10K Gold chain in the water. Other items were laid on the wet sand surface to test were they come up on the screen as Target IDs. (Clad, Gold Ring, Silver Chain, Gold Chain, Nail, & Pop Top)

I dig with my equinox on tone after you have dug for a while with it , the tone will tell you what you need to know

Reducing recovery speed adds A LOT more depth btw. Dont forget that people. The default setting for beach 1 is "6" which is way too much

Planing on taking another look down there.
Spot where we found lots of them has been totally sanded under. To the point where I think it's underwater even at low tide. Went back a bunch of times later the next year and no go. Wish I had a GPS at the time to mark where that spot was. Maybe just maybe some washed back up or there is enough erosion to snag a few after these storms. One day we found a spot where they were concentrated and dug 3-4 feet to get them. Think that was due to where they empty the cage after it got all clogged up. Whenever we found one and it was in a spot with a ton of shells to the point where it was like cement, we knew we were in a good spot. Some times we took a pick to the sand to break it up.

A very good video for the beach hunters. However, when you Noise Cancel make sure the coil is not on the ground. It should be away from the ground. Thanks for sharing 👍
You are correct when noise canceling the coil should be away from the ground. We were just trying to show what buttons to push to preform that function.
I always find that the Nox 800 behaves better if you noise cancel with it on the ground.
Are the settings preset, just turn beach mode 1, and go?

when you buried the reale, what did you change to 25. I can't hear you well enough to figure out what you did?
Since we cant stop people from throwing trash on the beach maybe we can work with the manufacturers so that pull tabs and bottle caps come in at a much lower number?

I found it easier to use the Sony Action cam for the screen close ups & any water shots. The other two cameras are Sony PXW70 shot in 4K. Just mounted the action cam on the detectors handle with a clamp and a flexible aluminum rod. I need to do an update this spring! Thanks for commenting & good Luck!

Great info? Can I ask how you mounted the camera that is showing the screen?
I used a Bogen clamp along with a 1/4 inch flexible rod made for professional lighting rigs. what i would like to know is can you put the detector in a single frequence of 5khz on beach mode.
I believe that you can select and set any frequency on whatever mode you are on. I will ask Woody to confirm this since he's been doing most of the testing. Thanks for commenting! TJ

Would you pick the Excalibur II on the beach?
I certainly would. I have the Excalibur I & it did a great job in the water as well as for diving down deeper (I'm guessing down to 100ft or more).
Equinox is only rated for 3 meters deep for water. Good for Swallow hunting, but that's really where everyone seems to loose their rings etc.
