The oh so lovely and talented Sandra Sherman ladies and gentlemen! I'm beyond amazed at how well these lessons are organized and presented. There is a lot of time and hard work spent in putting them together, yet the delivery of the instruction is smooth as silk. Clear, easy to follow, starting with how pleasant Sandra is. Thank you Sandra for all you do!!
Just when I thought your youtube lessons couldn't get any better. This is best, most understandable example of use of altered scale I have ever seen. Congratulations Sandra, you have a gift.
So glad you like it. It's always hard to tell in advance if it's too hard to understand (also to explain it in my second languish doesn't make it easier 😊). Seems I got it about right. Thanks for your feedback ❤️
Sandra, you outdid yourself with this one. I love all your lick lessons, because you don't only Play through them, but also explain what you're doing, how those licks are created, etc. Very well done!
you are a very good teacher. a natural at teaching. you should move across the street or around the corner or better i should move to Austira. i hear its nice there. at any rate i watched a couple of very well presented lessons. great teacher. thanx.
I love this lesson. Altered licks are something I have always wanted to learn how to use. This and the Altered theory lesson filled in a big gap in my knowledge. Thanks - I'm getting the tabs too.
Thanks so much for this great lesson, Sandra. I have just started getting into the altered scale and these are some great licks along with great explanations of how to play them along with a little theory. Great job!!
This will add to my lick library. I've also watched your very valuable theory tutorial on the altered scale. Very interesting scale. Thank you, Sandra!
Beer is two questions in one, in a 251 structure can you play minor 7th flatted fifth cord to substitute a dominant chord and if so is it considered to be an altered chord, you are a great jazz teacher for us blind guitarist
This is beyond my understanding theory wise but it is so beautifully melodic. Thanks your lessons are such a pleasure that I always look forward too. Thanks a lot.
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Thanks so much for replying. Basically I have been a bedroom guitar player for ever but with the theory thing am just starting. For some unknown. reason I just thought it was super complicated and beyond me a mental block I guess. Thanks for all your great lessons I am an avid fan. Cheers
Ok, as a beginner in theory, Irecommend starting out with intervalls and chord construction. If you know, how chords are build and named (that's all just intervalls) everything will make more sense. You'll be a better soloist too, bc you'll hopefully target those chord tones in your playing.
Yes thanks, that is where I am starting from. Why I believed theory was like advanced mathematics I have no idea but that was where my head was at until very recently Thanks again
What a great lesson thanx Sandra, again and again May I ask you something harmonicaly? Is it also possible to play an altered arppeggio over a modal funky mode like Am7 / D7 (not altered). Just for a short time let say say as a spice? Love M.
Sure, you can play literally anything, if you keep it within a context that makes sense to the ear. Like play the V7alt of the chord and resolve it (E7alt to Am7, or G7alt to D7). Check out my Chromatic lesson here on YT, where I teach this with outside playing and sidestepping etc.
Great follow up examples to lesson 1. Good to “see” the melodic minor arps (from lesson 1’s discussion). I’m mostly an ear player... but, thanks to your concise presentation of all your lessons, I am stepping it up😉. I’ll probably “borrow” parts of these licks 👍. I like the “half dim a step below” concept. Calzone for lunch today🍴. Stay safe!
Hi Sandra, glad to see you're safe and well. I'm wondering does the Altered Scale fit anywhere in a standard minor blues progression to make it less predictable and limited? I'm thinking of Daniel Castro's version of Albert King's 'I'll play the blues for you'. (You can find it on RUclips). If not, is it possible that you do a video on how to turn soloing on a straight forward song like that example into more interesting lines? There's only so much that can be done with it in my limited capacity. Always nice to have a video from you. I enjoyed this one. J. 🙂
If the V7 chord resolves to a Minor chord you are required to play an altered scale. If it resolves to a major chord, you can play it, but don't have to. If it doesn't resolve at all, you have to use mixolydian instead.
your lessons "enclose" my interests 😉, you're funny, too. it's only important to speak/play the only global language of music - so you do perfectly. thx for the lesson!
Your lessons have always been the most suited to my needs. I wish, however, you would have another way of accepting payments other than Paypal. Please consider it.

If you play a half-diminished chord a whole tone below a dominant chord it becomes a 7b9b13 chord.
Love your lessons, Sandra! When are you gonna show us those guitars behind you?
I have a great video up, but it's only about my jazz gear 😊.
great lesson...thanks!

Hey is there any way you could have tabs on your lessons as well?
You can purchase the tabs. I can't give everything away for free. You got the video plus the music notation for free already 😉.
Interesting okay

Just try to get the sound of your favorite mel min arps into your ear and use them to your liking.

Which Guitar player's should I be listening to for best examples of Altered Scale application???
Actually each and every Jazzer users the altered Scale. It's not optional 😊.
