    Sandra, you have an incredible talent for explaining such a difficult subject as Jazz in such an inspiring way that people can follow and understand. Thank you so much. I learn a lot of music theory from you, you open my mind, and what you offer musically is great.
    Currently I dig into your Jazz blues in Bb - solo and comping. I love it ! Using your pdfs while following your lessons is so useful. Thanks also for the beautiful backing tracks.
    You and your outstanding videos will keep me busy for years. Again thank you so much for your Jazz passion.
    By the way, I bought other lessons from you, not to learn them all at the same time, but to follow the videos again and again, looking at the tabs, only memorizing rhythm and melody before I learn the whole thing later.

    What I like about this is that it resolves a problem that I have had for a long time. This mixing of the Blues Scale and Mixolydian Scale, when used "right" captures the sound that I am after. To me, is sounds elegant and with those Blue notes, gets a little dirty sometimes. Like someone talking to you using proper language, and then using more aggressive or pensive language to emphasize the words. I love that back and forth and I can hear it in these licks. Wow! Finally! I am not a fan of some of the older Blues language, with that Major Blues sound because it often sounds a bit dated to me and kind of leaning toward Country Blues.

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman

      @@GuitarversumSandraSherman Hi Sandra... you have a great (now) a great "how to comp" jazz blues in major plus this wonderful lesson on how to go about soloing ib Bb. I am also studying your great "chords/comping a minor blues" so I guess the obvious would be to "complete the duet" here.... soloing in a minor blues. I confess I am swamped getting your existing lessons under control - as much thinking as playing - but minor soloing comes to mind. I got hooked on your style doing the Charlie Parker licks being an ancient bebop freak... the Bird always Flies. Thank you again.

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  5 лет назад

      @@brentwheeler2087 But I DO have a Soloing lesson on minor blues up here: ruclips.net/video/opZFen59-HY/видео.html
      It uses substitutions, but you can play it over a regular minor blues anyway. The thing is, if you have like two or more measures of the same chord you want to solo as if there are more chords (chord substitutions). So when you play, say, over 4 bars of Cm, during soloing you think of it as if it were Cm7 I Dø G7b9 I Cm7 I etc.
      You basically put II-Vs in between. The rhythm section may or may not play those II-Vs, but YOU do and thus create a melodic flow, that has an arc of tension and release. Cool eye? 😊

    Otra gran lección.Voy a comprar los PDF porque me servirán de gran ayuda. A pesar de que no hablo ni entiendo el inglés oral, con las partituras y el vídeo ya aprendo muchísimo con estas lecciones sobre solos. Muchas gracias Sandra!!
