It wasn't so much unhappiness with Dios lyrics as it was Ritchie wanting to create accessible, radio friendly rock, and Dio wanted no part in creating an album of powet ballads and love songs.
I think the problem with Ritchie Blackmore is his mind is being constantly bombarded with idea's and influences that when people finally come around to his way of thinking his mind already moved off into a different direction!
3:40 - "When the same thing is said over and over and over again, I find no justice and no happiness in that ... so I wanted to write things that tickled other people's intelligence ... Long Live Rock 'n' Roll, Long Live Rock 'n' Roll, Long Live Rock 'n' Roll ..."
Dopa M1n3rva Though a good song it was a poor song choice to play after his comment, I can't help thinking it was intentional, they could've played Gates Of Babylon or something.
If Ritchie ever fires Candice... would it surprise anybody? hahahaa Dude is awesome, sure he's past all that and digging the laid back folk thing, but damn I wish he would resurface and do a rock record!!!
b/c millions of people wish the same thing & would jump all over something NEW in the rock realm if Ritchie chose to do it... much the same way millions would pounce on a new Zeppelin, Floyd, Sabbath or Soundgarden album, you can only listen to the past body of work so much y'know? Nothing against Blackmore's Night though, I actually dig it quite a bit.
None of the great guitar gods of the 70s survived the pop invasion of the 80s. Blackmore, Michael Schenker, Van Halen, David Coverdale (glam stuff), Ozzy... I wonder what's up in their heads when they make the CONSCIOUS decision of pursuing "love songs" and corny lyrics, must be boredom or something, makes no sense!
"A succession of people who wanted more than he was prepared to give":, talking about a workaholic. Come off it, Ronnie - less Wendy, more application? Yes, I know, RJD, R.I.P..
Because it's a stupid comment in the first place made by someone who sounds like he's off in fairlyland (when he's not being a great rock guitarist that is). And since it's made in a publicaly available interview it attracts comment. It's called free speech fanboy.
1:51 - "That was Whitesnake, of whom David Coverdale (I think) is still certain that I ran off with his bird at Hammersmith Odeon that time ... but I wasn't guilty, in fact ... and this, now, is a fine band of boys who have a very eccentric leader and a very eccentric singer ... come to think of it, they're all pretty eccentric actually ..."
Blackmore left Deep Purple cause He found Purple getting to ,,Funky&Soft,,To much Mellodic stuff with the Hughes&Coverdale vocal combinations ........ But then listen to Rainbow years later, songs like Cant let You go & I Surrender , I mean come on Ritchie who were you Fooling back then ????
Yes. YEARS LATER. When the 80's came. Everyone sucked it up in some way, or closed shop. Yes closed, Queen got funky and disco, ELP died, even zeppelin died. In the 70s rainbow rocked HARD.
Sorry, I don't agree with you. Great Guitarist? Most Definitely Yes. Great Person? That's Highly Debatable. IMHO, Blackmore is as much an Arrogant as much as a Great Guitar player he is.
As a fan of Ritchie Blackmore I feel I am so lucky to hear him play with so many different singers it is awesome he is awesome
RITCHIE BLACKMORE !!! MY ALLTIME HERO !!! In every point of view and not just as a guitar player.... also as a person !
3:40: Dio saying “I am not a writer of love songs”. Yet Rainbow Eyes is, through the usual medieval imagery, quite a good love song.
yep. so is Catch the Rainbow
Love is all ! Ha ha !
What's funny is that Blackmore didn't like Dio's fantasy leanings so got rid of him. Now Blackmore walks around dressed as a Hobbit.
funny

Hahah! And what's with his hat in this video? He looks like a puritan gone bad. Haha.
Ritchie Blackmore. It isn't JUST a name. He is a legend, idol and a great guitarist. Oh, no, I can't express his virtuosity. Sorry:)
I think the problem with Ritchie Blackmore is his mind is being constantly bombarded with idea's and influences that when people finally come around to his way of thinking his mind already moved off into a different direction!
I think Ritchie is a great guy, people just don't realize when he's taking a piss.
Love Jon Lord's comments on Coverdale. Made me smile.
This video is so out of synch I watched it yesterday and listened to it today.
lol
Blackmore is brilliant i saw him onstage three times but bad decisions on band members he hired and fired will allways soil his legacy
It`s big man. Ще мої батьки виросли на цій музиці. Річі основоположник року!
Thanks so much for this. It's from that Top 10 Heavy Metal show that was on Channel 4 in '99. :)
5:16 Not many people can admit that to themselves, let alone to the camera. It's pretty amazing how aware of his own flaws he is.
Actually, Cozy left. He was not fired. And Bonnett is a far superior vocalist than Jolene.
No he's not Joe Lynn turner was far better rainbow
The Beatles music page Joes era of the band was poppy shite
"Dave's serpent has drooped." So funny, but Dave is still pumping. Ha.
that is why the CJ performance is so great , the tension in the , rather static , air.

Ritchie has always been a fan of pop music.
Bonnet was the epitome of NERD, but he could sing
1:11 "Dave's serpent has drooped" ha ha ha hahaha
Great Video
Why did you send the audio track through a Leslie??
"my names david, im in town for the night" lol
Andre Osorio David Gilmour on young lust
It’s miracle nobody got killed or injured when Blackmore was swinging those
( replica ) Strats on stage.
Does anyone know what programe is this taken from ?
muy bueno
What program is this from?
ritchieee
Part of the BBC "Top ten" series, this one on UK HM bands......
Why? The stuff he mades with Blackmore's night is awesome and we have 40 years of rock made by blackmore.
I've followed these guys and their music for a long long time....it's so sad to see Richie Blackmore mental state has deteriorated.
What programme is this?
HE IS ONE OF THE BEST GUITARIST & ORGINAL FROM DEEP PURPLE SO AS JON LORD & IAN PAICE
7:16 I think Joe is singing a take for his cover of Deep Purple's Lady Double-Dealer :)
MoonchildMindaugas
What the show it was? Or film?
Very hard to understand Lemmie
Even harder to spell Lemmy properly, too.
Hey man, Jon Lord seems John Cleese!
2:01 this guy has the same voice of Lemmy Klimister O.o
He found his YOKO!
Great guitarist but what a SMF. This man is crazy.
'In site'? Is that supposed to be INSIGHT?
last solo is from Steve Vai who has nothing to do with deep purple or rainbow LOL
yep, fool for your loving, aint it awesome.. love whitesnake too, fuck that!
coverdale is a legend

Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap.
If Ritchie ever fires Candice... would it surprise anybody? hahahaa Dude is awesome, sure he's past all that and digging the laid back folk thing, but damn I wish he would resurface and do a rock record!!!
Ace Ventura meets Rainbow
Mmh, well, at 8:49 there is lemmy kilmister, and, fuck, I'm answering myself?
Coverdale,l mean really.
Wow David, that shirt and tie....TOO LOUD MAN!
b/c millions of people wish the same thing & would jump all over something NEW in the rock realm if Ritchie chose to do it... much the same way millions would pounce on a new Zeppelin, Floyd, Sabbath or Soundgarden album, you can only listen to the past body of work so much y'know? Glenn was too girly for Deep Purple.
Well he was a lot more Ballsy in Trapeze

Blackmore wants to live with fairies?!
He should go and squat with Turner, he's deffo one.
Do the Fairies Wear boots🤣😂😃
@@robertschaffer1598 You'd better believe it!😂
@@CB-xr1eg ✌✌🤘🤘

David Coverdale (glam stuff) helped to kill rock music
Nooooo. I was there. It introduced kids to what we called MAN ROCK. The alternative was wasp, ratt, quiet riot, MTV cartoons

Coverdale's good but Gillan is better.
Not these Days
But the best is Glenn Hughes ❤

Blackers? arrogant? You're 'avin' a laff, sunshine,
This sound is horrible!
PS: The interview's sound.
