@@66hss Yes. He’s never mentioned in the same breath as Clapton Beck & Page.
Brian May - “No one ever talks about Ritchie and I don’t know why”
Eddie Van Halen said his big influence was Eric (Old slow hand) Clapton. Pull the other one.
The first time I heard Eddie and his amazing dynamic sound, speed & precise playing, I thought of Ritchie.
Eddie played many a Purple tune in his first covers band. But never mentioned him once.

You know, after all is said and done, I think Richie might have came out at the top of the Rock guitar world.
Defined a sound in the Rock world, a steady career all his life, healthy, has his song rights, he still has the lifestyle (cars, guitars, private jets), and still keeps his anonymity. Hardly a boring moment in his musical career, moving from cutting edge Rock ..all the way to Medieval music.
He's continually doing what he loves.
And, he's married to Candice! The only 'drug' he needs!
Seriously, there are not many that can say they had all that in one lifetime :)

Blackmore also exposes the pathetic aspects of guitar heroes and ridiculous egos in the rock and roll industry. His wife Candice is fantastic and just lovely - great musician in her own right.
Lots of Deep Purple and Rainbow fans and other individuals in the music industry have been a little bitter and vindictive in their judgement of Blackmore's shift away from his early years. this says more about them than it says about Ritchie.
Keep up the great musical journey you are on. loving it

+Peter Kan An interesting take on him. Ritchie refuses to allow anyone to tell him what to do. Like most anyone who has enjoyed his work, I'm very familiar with DP and Rainbow. I'm going to dig into Blackmore's Night, and absorb what he did with that...style of music. He's an all-time great that, for whatever reason, is roundly ignored by his contemporaries in England - Page, Beck, and Clapton. I have no idea why that is the case. I've yet to find any comments from either of those three on Blackmore. Why is that?
In any event, Blackmore deserves a place among the pinnacle of the great influential guitarists from England.

I actually strapped on and briefly strummed the Fender Stratocaster that Ritchie played at Edinburgh Odeon 1972. It was all white and for years I had a photo of him playing it all dressed in black that night that I took from front of stage but it didn't survive the years. Me and a mate helped the roadies pack up the gear after the gig and as it was still just proped up against summit I asked if it would be okay to strap it on. I was only 16 and couldnt afford a real Fender Strat myself so you can imagine what a moment that was. My mate took a few photos but without any more flash bulbs they were just a messy blurr and not worth keeping. Anyway I remember he had hit that guitar of the P.A. at the end a few times but it wasnt broken. I bet I was thinking, at that age, damn I cant even afford such a guitar and he,s happy trying to break it. Just trivia but I still remember the concert and the before and after.

When Ritchie Blackmore wrote the music for "Machine head " in a couple of days I knew in that moment he had eclipsed hendrix yet he never got credit for and no doubt the greatest musical genius of the time. God bless Ritchie Blackmore, no doubt to me his playing hand in close contact with the right hand of God! He deserves his place in history cause there will never be another like him period.

    • @themayor6836

He's not a genius, he takes what he's heard from other guitar players, musicians and turns it into his riffs. Most riffs are borrowed and recycled to that person's music......A great guitar player OH YES

    • @itsdoomedjack9774
      @itsdoomedjack9774 2 года назад

@@themayor6836 First off, literally every musician does that. Second, it’s not recycled, it’s inspired, massive difference. Don’t downplay his writing ability just because he’s upfront about his inspiration. Unlike most musicians, Ritchie is honest

@Dr. Fu Manchu The foundation for most of the songs on the album were Ritchie though. Ritchie wasn’t happy with the direction Deep Purple were going, and begged them to let him write one album by himself to prove that he has a better idea of where Purple should go than the rest of the band. Ultimately he was right
