    These basses WOOF! I think Michael Anthony used one of these in the very early days of VH, he’s a scary little fkr on bass too. This was the first three bolt instrument. The Jazz basses didn’t get a three bolt neck until late ‘74.

    Got a hold of one of the Chinese reissues with two mudbuckers. Just love the ferocious tone of the neck pickup and I like to add a little treble by adding a little volume to the bridge pickup and yes, put flatwounds on the beast… Gotta try using a fuzz pedal, haven’t done that! Thanks to Greg for the amazing playing!

    It's great to hear Greg do the basses. No knock on Sir Lemmo, but Greg is a BASS PLAYER. He plays like a bass player. So good to hear. --- This is a second edition Telecaster bass. When they first brought out the model it had the same singlecoil pickup that the original P bass had... looks like a 4 pole telecaster guitar pickup. With the slab body, the big pickguard and the headstock it was a sorta reissue of that first P bass. But then they changed the pickup to that big widerange humbucker. i've got a "Pawn shop series" Mustang bass with something thatr looks like this pickup and it's the loudest damn bass i've ever owned.

    December 13/12 is Lucia
    Celebration in Sweden and other Nordic countries. A group of girls
    Walking into dark houses, Early in the morning when it is still dark outside, with candles in there hands and singing christmas carols, giving you gingerbreads
    And "lussekatter" (Lucia cats) which is a wheat bread spiced with saffron and butter 😀
    And Glögg which is a mulled Wine
    This is an old Scandinavian tradition to put lights in the dark.
    It is famous for celebrities invited to Sweden participate in this ritual 😎

    Second version of the Tele Bass , first version with single coil pickup was Fenders first ever reissue like a 51-55p-Bass. I don’t think that is a 71. You need to check the pots for the correct date if they are original. The neck code is not necessarily the date it was made.

    Happy Thanksgiving! Beautiful instrument. I'm kind of an old guy and I own a few vintage fender jazz and P basses, love em, pre 74. I know the Jazz basses received a micro tilt adjust, 3 bolt neck with bullet truss rod in 1975. I thought that was new in Fender at that time. Which inspires me to ask, the 3 bolt neck and bullet truss rods were originally on telecaster basses several years before they were used on jazz basses? Or is this bass possibly newer than 71? I think it might be, but I have no idea. Thanks..

    • @inversion66
      @inversion66 2 года назад +1

      Microtilt first appeared on Strats, the Telecaster Custom, Telecaster Thinline, and Telecaster Bass in the later part of 1971. '74 might have been the year it appeared on the Jazz Bass. It never appeared on the Precision or the "standard" Telecaster.

    • @Azobassify
      @Azobassify 2 года назад

      @@inversion66 Yes, that’s why I was confused, I know the micro tilt feature didn’t appear on the jazz bass until 75 and 74 was the last year of 4 bolts CBS jazz basses. I know that feature was never on the P bass as well, but I wasn’t aware it was on other instruments before the jazz bass in 75. Being the owner of several vintage jazz and P basses. Good info. Thanks.

      By '71 the paints were that super thick polyester that shattered like glass. This was definitely a repaint. Plus the neck pocket area has big gaps from the sloppiness of that era. Good fenders especially nowadays you can hardly slip a sheet of paper in any gaps. I'll give ya $600 for it Norm or did Bonamassa already offer $4k?
