My first job: 5$. I went beyond a,b,c,d. Guess what, the client was so impressed he decided to pay me far beyond that penny , plus 5 star review. Thanks
@@KaganTech hey, this is about the part in your description that says "DON'T CLICK THIS". If we're not supposed to click it (& I'm assuming it's something bad or whatever) then why put it in the description in the first place? Just remove it
I had my first job 4 months ago. These days I try to get it again. I got a job today. The key is that you have to be the first to apply for a job, at a lower cost. Thank you Kagan..
Hi!! I just saw this video yesterday and today got my first Upwork job!! I've been a member for a year now , and I stopped looking for jobs there because i didn't even get interviews, nothing. And yesterday after the video y tried again, and today too, with your tips and i got my first job! Thank you very much for sharing your experience and your tips. Very useful! I'm very grateful! 😊
Basically I'm losing interested rn because I received nothing after I applied last night until I saw your video to motivate me, here I am trying to get my first client hopefully.
Too much encouragement after watching this vid. It really helps me not to loss that little hope to get my first job in Upwork... Gotta work hard for it. :) Thank you!
I decided to check one of your old Videos. Kagan, see me... This was you 3 years ago but me in 2021. Still impressive 3 years after!!! But why are you praying every 2 mins of the video?! 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks, Kagan. I've been trying to get my profile approved for at least 8 months now. I haven't signed in for a while now because I feel doubtful about it. After your video I will, try to go back and see what I can change to get approved. I sometimes think these online job sites don't care for anyone outside of North America and Europe. But I'll try again. Thanks.
I posted a job that I was the first person and the only person bidding on the job. There were no one other than me bidding. For the next 10 days no other bidder but the customer had viewed the job twice. Finally the job was archived and no one was selected, that is I’m not sure if anyone was actually invited.
Hi Kagan, great video and advice. I am an old member since oDesk. I have been scam 3 times already by client and stopped looking a job through oDesk. Because of this, I would like to try again, though hard to find a job especially in my line of work as Network engineer. But, as your per advice I will try again.
OK, I definitely agree that you shouldn't give up, but you should also earn money from your work. Many of the jobs on Upwork have a low budget, so the client is the one who has the advantage. And of course there are clients too who have unreasonable requirements. I had one who required a certified translation; when he received it, he said that the signature was fake. I contacted Support but to no avail.
Hey Stanis, yes there are definitely terrible clients on Upwork. had my fair share for certain. But they aren't all bad. I'd say for me personally its been a 70/30 experience. 70 being really great people.
Thanks for this vid! I’m just starting out and waiting to get my first gig. I’ve started dropping my price super low to almost free to get the experience and reviews that are going to help me get more work. Question: have you ever paid for more connects on the site or do you just wait for them to re-up when you run out?
Awesome tips, just subbed. Landing that first job on UpWork seems hard, but once you've cracked the code it's a gold mine 💰 Curious - did you try Fiverr too? Or you just taking on clients from UpWork?
Actually never tried fiverr, but I did use it to hire another freelancer some weeks ago and quite liked the changes they have made. Maybe some time in the future.
Thanks for the reply! I'd definitely recommend Fiverr, we're actually planning to make some more videos on about it soon. There's some great freelancers on there too 😎
@kagan Wanna give you super big thumb for the tips, u r much better than someone who gave 10 minutes or more long video talking about shit to earn huge money on Upwork. I don’t know what he’s talking about ,totally not practical . You r great
Hey Dude, great video, appreciate your honesty and you just say things as they are - not easy ! I will hang in there and try to push in to get my first job. great motivation. Also, another thing, I've signed up but just can not get the verification E-Mail, do you think it has anything to do with the fact that I am living in South Africa? Is it any different for me to sign up or anything?
my story is that i had given up 4 to 5 time but I used to came back again after few months latter and try again get fail again eventually tried with no expectations but this tine got approved.
I was an ignorant little bitch and thought you can't possibly tell me anything I din't already know, and I was so wrong. Great video. Clear, to the point, and very informative.
Thank you a lot for your video, Kagan. I have a question. I am a sales professional, but I would like to move towards a writing career path (I am naturally very good at writing, but I have no proof yet, unfortunately). I am planning to use Upwork to get more experience and building a writing portfolio (while, of course, making some extra money). So my question is: Even though I would like to get hired for writing jobs only, should I still apply initially to other types of gigs in order to get that FIRST job, just for the sake of getting a review? Thank you a lot in advance!
@@KaganTech I actually watched it all. Kagan "in my first 90 days on Upwork I didn't get any interviews or any jobs and when I did finally get the interview I didn't even get the job". Doesn't exactly answer my question
But how to get a job which is very general ? I can accurately say I've got 0 skills and so I can only do the general jobs, but once I see them its like 20/30 mins passed by with already like 50 proposals and already few interviewing. I'm going to try to work for free or minimum money to bid and see what happens lol
3 years later... this is educative. I landed my first job yesterday, and the client is impressed. thanks, Kagan for recommending UPWORK.
Glad it was helpful!
Do we have English proficiency test on Upwork?
