I just watched this video on the first day of 2024, and I can say with certainty that this video is still relevant. Thanks for providing a mental framework and a roadmap for achieving tech goals. I am trying to break into AI & ML. This video, I am sure, will help put the right mindset in. Cheers and a happy new year.
I turn 50 next week and my mission for 2023 is getting my CCNA, I have the books and changed my hours so I can study for a couple of hours each day. I don't want to work in retail for the rest of my life. A quote that I found somes this up: "If you are stuck in a rut, hit the books, put in the hours and you will receive the rewards!" , "You cannot go and work for someone 8 hours a day and then go home and not work on your own dreams!"

I am 33 years old and have been depressed for a while. Trying to figure out how to make my life better. I'm a journalist but I don't feel fulfilled in life. But this video has lifted my spirit.
Damn! I have 6 months of 2023 left now, but really happy that I've found this video in RUclips. Love this vibe, sensation and inspiration I got after watching it.
i love how you keep it simple. you don't try to say words in a poetic way or whatever. You are so real, as real as life feels when you go through it, not when you're during a motivational speech... Thank you SIR!!!!
I officially got into "tech" ~5 years ago. First job I learned a lot of basics, jack of all trades type of situation. I only got into a larger networking job the past 3 - one thing I noticed is the CLI is only ever used for ad-hoc maintenance or traffic engineering. Most of the basic architectures are now deployed using YAML, Jinja, and Python. A lot of programmatic concepts and pipelines are used now, and the need for skills with Linux is growing. Linux is by far the greatest toolset I've learned, it's helped me understand networking better, it's helped me understand systems better. The amount of times I use common Linux tools on our config repo to bulk-audit and edit is more often than I think I do full configurations from scratch.
Thank you. Your advice inspiredme at my ages of 55 years. I'm still struggle to keep learning new IT. Fortunately your words help me realize that I'm on the right way. Thank you very much.
I love your ethics @David Bombal, every day is a school day. Leaving school with nothing, to then start again in Mechanics at 24 and now studying Cyber in 2024! It's never too late to change your life. I try remind myself, I can do it. Speak positive words to your own mind.
Leisure is not universally pointless nor bad, it is actually vital to success and is of return value. This is because there needs to be a balance in life, which many self-help books and time management courses also emphasize. Setting time aside every week for things besides work and learning is important to avoid burn out, stress overload, and to maintain peak mental and physical health. There is no point in working so hard if u don't take time to smell the roses.
Agreed about networking! Not really one of the hot growth industries at the moment, but a solid career. And it will always be a core skill for anyone in IT! The world is getting more and more networked, so networking is here to stay 💪
Thanks David. Im chasing the Data Science track and hoping to be in a competitive position by summer then start looking into changing careers. Very inspirational thank you again.
Your video recall my memory , About 11 years ago ,I was an assembly worker ,at that time , I always want to change my life . I started to learn network technology and got CISCO certification from CCNA to CCIE, and now I still use these knowledge in my job . I want to say technology changed my life . thank you for your video and so inspired .
I just love the positive message you send David in addition to all the FREE tutorials and advice. You are a gem my friend Cheers!!! I agree with you AI is where the largest growth I see. I am excited about those tutorials you will be putting forth in that regard. In my free time outside of work and developing new Reverse Engineering tutorials, I am learning TensorFlow as well.

David, thank you so much for that great words. It’s so important believe in yourself and you help with that every day. I learned a lot from your video especially circle of control, it was so useful. Hi from 2023
I wish i learnt most of these principles about seven years ago. A lot of people have been trapped strongly in the matrix-- Go to school, get a job, and then slave your whole life. Many miss out on life-changing information that could have great effect on their finances. I played with the stock market sometime in 2020, and I was surprised at how well it turned out. I want to put in $90k more into the market. I heard people are making really great returns despite the downturn. Any recommendations?
Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.
My wife and I were following this same trajectory. Last two years, I pulled out my money and invested with her wealth manager. Not catching up with her profits over the years, but at least I earn more. Haha.
@@Natalieneptune469 The thing is that I really don't like making such recommendations. But there are many freelance wealth managers you could check out. I have been working with "Deborah Sue Bohn" for about four years now, and she's made decent returns. If she meets your discretion, then you could go ahead.

I enjoy time with family, music, fishing and home networking.
My whole life I have been the type to say no I can’t do that, or it’s to hard, or it will take to much time. Now I’m 34 years old. Working a job that I do not enjoy but pays pretty decently. I spend my free time to things that definitely don’t give me a return. Like playing video games and watching movies and shows. I really enjoy those things and obviously they bring me happiness but lately I haven’t been happy. I feel as though I failed at life because I don’t have this amazing job that requires great skills. In my opinion, stocks are WAYYY better than 5% fixed income. IF YOU PICK THE RIGHT equities. There are doubts as stocks historically return 7% after inflation. My wife and I are currently adding a variety of stocks/ETF to my present holdings for the long term. We've started following inflation-indexed bonds and stocks of companies with solid cash flows, I believe it is a good time to capitalize on the market for long-term gains, but it also wouldn't hurt to know means of actualizing short term profit.
The current market might give opportunities to maximize profit within a short term, but in order to execute such strategy , you must be a skilled practitioner.
Having an lnvestment advser is the best way to go about the market right now, especially for near-retirees, I've been in touch with a coach for a year now mostly because I lack the depth knowledge and mental fortitude to deal with these recurring market conditions, I nettd over $490K in profits so far, Its clear there's more to the market that we avg joes don't know that Investment advisors know.
@aureliobjm The adviser that guides me is HEATHER LEE LARIONI. She works with Merrill Lynch near my old office so I see her often to discuss my business. There are a lot of independent advisors you might look into. But for me, her strategy works hence my result. She provides entry and exit point for the securities I focus on

@@necesitoMuchodiNero You can learn anything anytime unless of course you are diagnosed with aphasia or dementia. You don't usually lose the ability to learn as you age but the motivation and willingness. It's a myth that you become slow in mind past 60. You can be as sharp as you want.
My greatest concern is how to recover from all these economic and global troubles and stay afloat especially with the political power tussle going on in the US.

Thank you so much for this video, it was truly amazing. I have been studying data science since last one year which included python, machine learning, AI and many visualization tools. It has really changed my perspective about my career focus. I was an engineer working into hardcore telecom field but the vastness and importance these skills have seems to have opened up a lot of options infront of me. Also being in my late 20s I feel like during my data science study sessions I was able to rekindle with the lost studying etiquettes that I had when I was in high school or college. Its not easy to sit and study again with full focus when you are grown up. Recently got a job as a data scientist and here on I wise to keep learning and mastering my machine learning skills while also developing AI skills to which m still a toddler right now. Thanks again for the video, you got a new sub!

Great video David! Detailed and well thought out Have enjoyed your content for a few years now. Really enjoyed the OccupyTheWeb stuff, and am looking forward to his networking book. A couple of observations I hope you’re happy for me to share - Often people will recommend certs but it’s not always for the cert, it’s for the body of knowledge attained by studying the material. Where exams can be stressful or expensive (and the cert itself not always being particularly recognised, depending), is it worth distinguishing this in your future videos, IF you mean this, that is. - Your growth mindset is absolutely correct and a great thing to teach. I think in addition though downtime/fun/relaxation is important for enjoying life ‘in the moment’ and also the long-term payoff is probably stable mental wellbeing. I guess it’s a balancing act! Thanks again for all the great content David and congratulations on your 1m subscriber mark!

Thank you so much David! The only show I watch and advocate is Mr. Robot! After doing my annual rewatch because I love it so much I’ve recently started diving into learning about tech again. I don’t know what killed it for me but since I was 6 years old I was messing around with computers because my family members and relatives who were much older trickled all that stuff down into me. I agree, I have been consistent with my profit regardless of the market conditions, I got into the market early 2019 and the constant downtrends and losses discouraged me so I sold off, got back in Dec 2020 this time with guidance from an investment adviser that was recommended by a popular economist on a popular forum, long story short, its been years now and l've gained over $850k following guidance from my investment adviser.

People often advise against attending college, but I pursued a degree in Cybersecurity, and I can confidently say that it provided me with a well-structured curriculum. Honestly, I'm unsure if investing is a wise move right now. Take note of how frequently things fail. As I still have some time before I retire, I'm still looking for a better strategy to invest my money despite reading charts and predictions from well-known investors from the past and present. In order to generate passive income, I want to build a solid and reliable portfolio.
I believe there are many ways in which the value of the U.S. dollar affects investing, but having a strong portfolio advisor to explore and experience a really varied market has never made understanding how to grow your money easier.
I was left holding worthless positions in the market in 2020 because to these market uncertainties, which is why I don't base my market assessments and decisions on rumors and hearsay. Before I started noticing any noticeable improvements in my portfolio, I had to fully redesign it with the assistance of an advisor; I've been working with the same advisor and have scaled up to $750k.

Thanks so much. I being 16 years old from Kenya. I want to take the career you are doing. I have this flamming passion for it. I'll keep in mind what you have said.
Really interesting and informative. At 50, having spent 30 years working in accountancy, finance and payroll, and being a watercolour artists as well, I know I need to either learn and embrace AI as a tool for both, or I will become obsolete in my career and side business very quickly.
I knew the case of a fellow technology community member who is 60 years old and now this data analyst changed his life completely. He is charging 150,000 dollars a year and before he earned 10 times less never stop believing in you
Learning programming languages helps to better understand the technologies that are used in our modern digital era. I think it's really important to talk about it
Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly
Through closely monitoring the performance of my portfolio, I have witnessed a remarkable growth of $508k in just the past two quarters. This experience has shed light on why experienced traders are able to generate substantial returns even in lesser-known markets. It is safe to say that this bold decision has been one of the most impactful choi

The adviser I'm in touch with is *CAROLINA MELINA PHERSON* she works with Merrill, Pierce, Smith incorporated and interviewed on CNBC Television. You can use something else, for me she strategy works hence my result. She provides entry and exit point for the securities I focus on.
Thanks for this informative video it opened me to a different way of looking at how to be productive and look at different skills to learn in the IT sector. Wish you, everyone, the best in 2023.
Get these skills in 2023! Or at least get started.

How do you learn Linux?

Leisure is not universally pointless nor bad, it is actually vital to success and is of return value. This is because there needs to be a balance in life, which many self-help books and time management courses also emphasize. Setting time aside every week for things besides work and learning is important to avoid burn out, stress overload, and to maintain peak mental and physical health. There is no point in working so hard if u don't take time to smell the roses.
The first 10 minutes of this video are probably the incredible helpful for whatever you wanna achieve. Thanks man !

Haha.
@@PhilipMurray251 For real, I've wanted to switch to a wealth manager. Please, could you recommend yours?
@@Natalieneptune469 The thing is that I really don't like making such recommendations. But there are many freelance wealth managers you could check out.

I am an electrician , I'm 34 years old and i started educating myself on something whicth I've not finished yet .Now do you think is a good idea if I should be learning two things in parallel? Moreover I know nothing about programming like python,..would starting AI , Machine learning or data science be beneficial for me ? Your suggestions are very welcome and thanks in advance.
Same and agree
Thank you so much for this video. I am in my 50s and just learning how to code with a bootcamp. I doing full stack and it’s really overwhelming for me. But your video really encourages me. By the way I have first degree in Accounting from Africa and trying to change career. I don’t want to give up. I want to keep practicing even though it’s really difficult for me. Like you said I cannot learn all. It will take time and I know I will get there as long as I keep practicing. Thanks brother.
I resigned last week after 15 years in Accounting. SQL data analysis is my new job. Next learning will be Python and PowerBI
The most useful clip on Internet recently for me!!! Thank you, sir!!!
I started learning AI & data science and Python at 48, and now I am 54 and think I’m really good at it. This year I will focus on VR/ AR/ MR, different kinds of reality, and crossover with AI.
These are actually very hot topics!

@@soonsoon4254 It's illegal, you won't find anyone teaching you that online tbh ... Start by learning networking, then security principles and tools.
David, these are incredibly WISE words! How does a 53yo like myself even get started, or is it way too late? I started out very interested in web dev, although cyber security seems interesting, but way more difficult than learning html, css and javascript. Appreciate any advice... Thank you David, for the valuable free content you put out!👊🏽

Love this guy! I NEVER hear anyone say, “I don’t watch television.” I literally HATE television. 35 to 50% commercials. People are literally wasting their time watching commercials. Imagine what you could do with all the time you waste watching the television. TURN OFF THE NEWS - IT MAKES YOU DEPRESSED!!!
This Video is the breathe of fresh air I needed, I was a mechanic, hated the industry, used my GI bill to go back to school for Cybersecurity because I love tech, Learned everything I could, 1% a day is what I needed. Hopefully I can get a job soon and change the course of my life.
Gracias David! Sos un gran tipo!
Great video. Thank you for the positive motivation. Loved the memes of motivation.
Can't wait for 2023 to grow more in my experience in learning.
Thank you! Make the most of your time.
David, thank you so much for this video! I learned new information for myself

@@reynaldo2447You're absolutely right, and that's a beautiful mindset you've got there I never thought of it this way before.

Great video David! Detailed and well thought out Have enjoyed your content for a few years now. Really enjoyed the OccupyTheWeb stuff, and am looking forward to his networking book.
A couple of observations I hope you’re happy for me to share
- Often people will recommend certs but it’s not always for the cert, it’s for the body of knowledge attained by studying the material.
Glad to see your video on my feed. I still watch a few other RUclipsrs.. I've followed trades of a couple RUclipsrs and I'm down so much…210k to 80k. It got addictive. My resolve is the lot are amateurs.
The quantity of capital you invest, though, ultimately determines everything. With a substantial start-up budget, you could be able to earn more, Its high time one stops relying on the govt with their daily built up stories to deceive the crowd. like haven't they done enough..
Creating wealth and financial freedom isn't as tough as many people believe. Building wealth and remaining financially stable indefinitely is a lot easier with the appropriate information. Participating in financial programs and products is the only true approach to make a high income and remain affluent indefinitely….
That is why I work with John Desmond Heppolette, who introduced me to a better Financial community, a verified agency where I learned how money works and how to create it, as well as free books, courses, and daily lectures. You also get to meet new people, which was the best decision I ever made..💡
Thanks so much by the way for the advice. Your coach was simple to discover online. I did my research on him before I scheduled our phone call. He appears knowledgeable based on his online resume.
This was just what I needed to see today. I've been struggling with finances for months after my divorce, and I just discovered his exceptional resume when I Googled his name. I consider it a blessing that I discovered this comment area..

I can’t believe I gave up on it when I got to the middle of highschool. I’m 23 years old now and still fortunate to be young. I like how you’ve rekindled everyone’s passions for technology. There’s no better time to get started than now! Yeah if I kept up with these skills since a young age I’d be somewhat proficient, but doesn’t mean I can’t start again 23!
This was an excellent video and has provided me great insight. Thank you Dave.
2023 is a learning hacking apis year for me .. that and sharpen up my website hacking skills (which aren't too bad but could be improved ) thank you David though for the very motivational video.
I'm not kidding when I say that the market crash and high inflation have me really stressed out and worried about retirement.
I've been in the red for a while now and although people say these crisis has it perks, I'm losing my mind but I get it,Investing is a long-term game, so I will focus on the long run.
I can't focus on the long run when I should be retiring in 3years, you see l've got good companies in my portfolio and a good amount invested, but my profit has been stalling, does it mean this recession/unstable market doesn't provide any calculated risk opportunities to make profit?
There are a lot of strategies to make tongue wetting profit especially in a down market, but such sophisticated trades can only be carried out by proper market experts
I've been down a ton, l'm only holding on so I can recoup, I really need help, who is this investment-adviser that guides you
It would be very innovative suggestion to look out for Financial Advisors like Olivia Maria Lucas who can help shape up your portfolio. Trying times are ahead, and good personal financial management will be very important to weather the storm.
Thanks for this video, David!
Skills that I am learning now and that will benefit me in the future: a new language, history, internship in the Russian media, writing a book and reading literature at least a little a day.
People often advise against attending college, but I pursued a degree in Cybersecurity, and I can confidently say that it provided me with a well-structured curriculum. My two-year program at Camden County College covered all five core aspects mentioned, including Linux, Python, and Networking. Although I haven’t yet worked in the cybersecurity field, I secured an IT position immediately after graduation.
This video is so inspiring for me especially that I am currently preparing for my Azure Fundamentals Certification. Thank you for your words of encouragement!
Since childhood, I have a craving for computer technology. But I couldn't do it in any way. I even bought myself a programming language training program, but it has been lying idle for a long time. Thanks to this video, I have a desire to do this again.
This video is a real gem! Thank you for sharing your ideas to us. I learned a lot and i'll make sure to apply them.
@@hunter-bourke21 My partner’s been considering going the same route, could you share more info please on the advisor that guides you?

I think it's really important to talk about it
David Me Too!! Thank you for all you teach and sharing your knowledge
