Hey Folks, so glad you stopped by this video. Hope you enjoy it and make sure to drop your feedback and questions in the COMMENTS so I can help you build a career you love!!!
I am following you as someone who speaks English as a second language and I wanted to leave a note to say this is one of the best videos out there. I purchased your book as well. Thanks for the effort you put in these contents.
Hello Andy how can I get your free interview book. Now seeing your video for the first time and I find your answer practical and common sense. So I can only imagine what you have to say in your book Thks Varun
True. I made the interviewers laugh and a friendly comfortable chat. I moved onto the next stage even though I think my answers are were not god enough.
I used this approach in an interview, and despite fumbling some of the important questions, I was still offered the position. Your videos helped me get the job I wanted more easily than I ever expected. Thanks, Andrew!
I watched almost all your job interview series before my interview with a multinational company of my dreams. I was up against internal candidates and I had no prior experience. This particular video helped me to focus on what I will do for the company instead of what I had done before. I painted a picture of their future with me even when I felt I was thrown off Balance. Guess what? I got the job! My recruiter let me know that she made up her mind to recruit me right away as she already could see herself working with me. She couldn't get me off her mind. Thank you so much Andrew. This knowledge you are sharing is priceless.
This works. I watched this the day before an interview and applied ALL the advice. I passed the first interview and was called in for a second interview. I received a call a few days later and was offered a coaching position.
I am mostly happy with my job and my pay, received a healthy 35% pay increase when I started here 5 years ago. However, I was put in contact with another employer last week, who expressed interest in my skill set (engineer with some specialized certifications and training). The job posting for the new prospect indicates at least another 40% increase in my pay, when I land it. I used Andy's resume template and submitted it this weekend. About 8:30 Monday morning I received an email asking for a phone interview. So, before my phone interview today, I listened to Andy's tips and tricks for several hours. Sadly (lol) I wasn't able to use hardly any of them. The President, who I had the interview with, was so anxious to sell me on his company, that I could hardly get a word in edgewise. I'm happy to report that on Friday they are flying me to meet the team and said they would have a written offer for me. Now I need to brush up on negotiating. Thanks Andy!
I think most of us go through that stage of when your looking for a job and life problems family, money etc bring you down into a depression situation, so really you end up finding it hard to feel good of yourself and your achievements because your at a low, but thanks, Andrew your amazing mate, you've opened my inner self worth and through your videos and tips freely given have more than just helped me in something which should be simple as a cv and an interview by making me really think in my achievements and not my wrong decisions in life and be true to yourself before I can sell myself. Thanks
Yes I literally accumulated 50,000 worth of loans and looking for a job to help pay those loans back within 6 months ! Trust me I have never been so stressed in my life.
Thanks Andrew. Used the 2nd method in 3 straight interview rounds and bagged a job at a Fortune 200 client! It played a major role in reducing the interview time and the interviews were crisp and were to the point. I was able to steer the ship right from the beginning of the interview just because of how I answered this question. Will forever be grateful for you ❤
Andy, Andy, Andy!! I started watching you in August when I was going through some tough interviews. I had four interviews with a great company and they had even sent me an email asking for the email addresses of my references so they could actually shoot them an email to set up a phone call. Labor Day weekend passed so I gave them until Wednesday (this was a full week) before I did a follow up. The lady from the “Talent Department” actually did me the courtesy of a phone call where she told me they had hired within!!! I was heart broken and since I know she didn’t speak with references I honestly didn’t know what to believe. EVERYONE told me then it was the end of year and to just wait until first of year!! Well I continued studying with you, watched your video about how December was a PRIME MONTH, GUESS WHAT???? I SCORED ANOTHER EVEN GREATER POSITION BECAUSE OF YOU!!! You are magic, your fired my ass up to stick with it when others were being LAZY yet I was on a mission because “Andy said December was a GREAT time of year” And YOU WERE RIGHT! I knocked it out of park, slammed a home run and can’t thank you enough. I used the online book because my hard copy had not arrived and I think YOU ARE THE MAN!! I’m going to be the best employee this company has ever had and I owe it all to you. Offer letter signed, start my training (sales position) on January 14th. Happy New Year and sorry for long message.
Amy, 👊✊😀, this is awesome. I'm soooooo happy for YOU! Yes, I speak the truth. Glad you believed me and believed in yourself, Huge congratulations and Happy New Year to you!!!!!
Emma Dee, I just want to congratulate you!!!! If you don’t mind an update though. How is the pandemic situation affecting you in your new job currently?
Shoobbie C hi!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY JOB!!! I send everyone I know to this channel for career advice and I continue to follow because this man stays on top of things. I am a remote employee even before Covid so that always makes learning a bit challenging but I really hit the jackpot working with this new company along with a great manager to boot. It’s the greatest feeling in the world to wake up each day to do something I love. Best of luck to you.
Good awareness, yes I've done the same - seems extremely common to put 90% of the focus on the past and barely igniting the future with, "and that's what brings me here today, so moving forward...I would love to learn more about this opportunity and how I can especially take it further "
Dear sir,I think its very ungrateful if I don't say thank you after successfully faced, enjoyed an interview & got hired yesterday. The knowledge you shared gave me great comfort to join me to a european company even though im not a native english speaker. Thanks again for your great service to community.
I've been on months long hiatus trying to recover from a job burnout, and I finally feel ready to embark on my career again. Your channel is the first one I come to for tips and advices. Still trying to work on my confidence but I'm getting there! Thank you so much for your content!
Be a visionary! Never thought of apply to jobs as engaging a whole bunch of the same skills as a very personable salesperson but totally makes sense! Sell the vision of what's greater if you hire me. I've totally used imagination in interviews where I got hired - creative chaos to bring more vibrancy.
Hi Andrew, I am an urban/environmental planner from Europe who is just out of college after doing a BA and two MSc's. I can't tell you how brilliant your advice is. You are so positive, and so upbeat. The world needs more people like you. Thank you.
Your unique perspective on handling interviews is something I haven't encountered before, and I'll definitely incorporate your advice into my approach. Recently, I graduated from nursing school and experienced my first professional interview. The situation was far from familiar; I found myself amidst four supervising nurses, which was quite overwhelming. I don't want to experience that level of intimidation again. Here are some of them, I have to admit I froze up on question #3. I felt like it was a trap lol. 1. Where do I see myself in five years? 2. Name a situation where I made the difference in a patient's visit. 3. If I can change something about myself what would it be? 4. What was my favorite/profound part of clinical? 5. What can I do to help implement safety to patient care.
I’ve been wanting to comment on this video for a while. I watched this video before a final stage job interview 5-6 months back, which included a meeting with the VP of Engineering. As soon as I met him I took out a mini book with a pen and asked “Do you mind if I take out my book to take some notes?” - I guess that was the first surprising impression. Then as soon as he started asking some of my projects (that required explanation) - I explained a short brief intro about it, followed with how I could use that project’s concept and experience to build something similar for them that they wanted. Simultaneously I kept taking rough notes (that I couldn’t even recognize). I even added the question at the end of “What does success look like to you after a year?” . And guess what, he didn’t have a concrete answer. I was applying to a web developer role, and he answered something that kept revolving around IT, Basic server management and etc, and even asked me if I would be okay with staying up over-time if required to do IT stuff. I agreed, and after the meeting was over as soon as I reach home I get a call from the HR with an offer! I can say that this DOES work if followed the RIGHT way, measuring the conversation and the depth of the question asked. Though I didn’t accept it, but this is tremendously great advice. Mind you, that different companies will have different hiring processes and they are looking culture fits, types of attitude. There was another great tip from a different video that I found useful of reading job descriptions on different roles that tells a lot on who works with who. Thanks Andrew! REQUEST: Could you please shorten the length of the videos and get to the point faster? Please leave the promotion of the books in a different video where you explain in depth about the topics. Probably I’ll order one! Thanks!
great vid Andy. i learned alot from you in those 24 minutes. i can see how future orientation is critical in any job interview. im 68 years old hoping to re-enter the workplace on a part-time basis. i worked 24 years in retail bank management and then owned and operated a beverage distribution business for 14 years. after caring for my elderly mother for 6 years im ready to embrace a new challenge. i will follow you here in youtube. glenn
The decision whether they will hire you is made within 5 seconds of meeting the interviewer(s). My mother was an interviewer and knew within seconds if the person had a chance. Her best advice was to think of an interview like it is a date. If there is no connection between you and the interviewer you have no chance.
When I saw the date of this video I wondered if I should watch, considering that it was made way before the whole Covid situation, which is why I need to find a new job. I see many comments made in the last few months, including Zoom interviews, so here I go. I dread this job search, first in many years.
I love your follow up question for the 2nd question "Do you have a situation where I could use and adapt my skills to your needs?" Thank you so much, Andrew!
Great thanks to Andrew! I got my first offer after I watched only two of your videos!!! I just completed three round interviews with HR, VP of Finance, and CFO, and got the offer the next day. I have been suffering a lot how to win an offer. I searched several career/interview coaches, and you are the most efficient!!!
Love this question, absolutely nails it: If I or anyone were to take this job - a year from now, what specifically will the person have accomplished for you to know that it was successful? There's a lot of textbook basic questions like: Is this a new role or filling a vacancy? That's probably too generic, interviewer might be thinking "how does this relate, exactly?" "new! ok what else you got about the success of this role specifically?" or "... vacancy, but I'll leave it at that. thanks for asking though (not really)"
The way this is summarized (past vs. their future) is such an excellent summary of what is missing from a successful interview. We get so stuck in STAR and telling our accomplishments. I put myself in a seat of an interviewer and if someone was talking about the future of the company I work I would listen. Thank you so much for this great insight!
STAR interview is the DUMBEST approach...If past predicts future HOW COME most mass murderers never HAD that history, do their rottenness in towns that NEVER had any history of such thing. Humans don't ALWAYS act the same, and that is why you have school shootings, movie theatre shootings. People going postal right now aren't having history they are REACTIVE to the environment, and no two environments in work culture are playing out the same. What you WANT is flexible, creative, ADAPTIVE folks picking up the cues and moving forward in our fast paced world. But HR are the laziest folks ever, imho, they don't know HOW to decipher what a contributing employee looks like. Recruiters find quality folks, HR refuses to HIRE those folks and you have companies DYING cuz they will NOT recognize talent.
Mr Andrew, i don't know which word to use because virtually everyone here had used it all. However, i am grateful to the impact you've been depositing in people career, and confidence to go out there not being scared or frighten. Thank you so much Mr Andy!
Hi Andy! I just wanted to say THANK YOU. I have l been listening to your videos and incorporating many of your tips into my job search and interview preparation and it has paid off! I interviewed for a position today that I was made aware of through a networking contact, and have been asked to come back for a 2nd interview. I have been a stay-at-home mom and also had health conditions that kept me out of the workforce for 23 years! To be asked back for a 2nd interview on my 1st interview is extremely exciting! I am sticking with you because your tips make sense and they work! Thank you for all that you are doing do bring about positive vibes even in this time of a global epidemic!
I watched all series of your interview tips on Sunday and had my interview on Monday. Today I am noticed that I have passed my job interview! Many thanks Andrew!!
@@andylacivita Unfortunately my "powerful imagination" is so huge it can take over my intellect and logic, turning me into a nervous wreck! I am so judgemental I can unravel with fear of not being good enough. Under control for written communication, easily put off by an interviewer. How can I arrive being the best salesman of my own product? Perhaps you can suggest my next video or book?
When you mentioned 'I don't care about them (the employer), I care about you' you got me :) I am preparing for some interviews in the coming period, I have finally dared to applied for C-suite roles, so it will be my first time sitting in front of executives. Yes, I am kind of nervous about that, but hopefully I am doing my homework and you are helping me with that. Thank you!
Sir... I don't know why I took so long to discover you. You are the first person here that has given me the most relevant advice. You are the best youtuber for me! I have given 5-6 interviews. Failed in all of them. Now I will apply this technique. Thanks a lot sir.
Andrew, that’s one of very few genuinely helpful and insightful videos on the topic. And, you have shared your entire point without trying to force the viewers into buying anything, some advertising is obviously okay. Respect, man.
Thank you Martin. glad you enjoyed it!! 98% of my videos are like that. Occasionally, I mention my books (which are free if you chip in a few bucks) or make reference to one of my programs which you can grab if you want more instruction and deeper support. 👍🤛
Excellent video. I've employed many of these tips in past job interviews and always landed the job. I always keep in mind that interviewing is a 2-way street: Applicants are also interviewing the employer to make sure that the job is a good fit. This also demonstrates an avid interest in the employer and the job. Also, be confident! Convey the attitude that you can do the job.
Andy, thanks for the great videos. I love your ideas for questions, such as "in one year after you hire this person, what will that person have done/accomplished to know they are successful?" Personally, I would be stunningly impressed if I were the interviewer, but I have had interviews where that kind of a tough question throws them. And then I leave them feeling uncomfortable instead of thrilled with me. One question that often gets that response is, "What have you not heard from a candidate so far that you were hoping to hear?" The response I often get is, "That's a great question..." Well, indeed it IS a great question, and yet, they seem to stammer through an (unprepared) answer and feel awkward. I fear that few interviewers could answer the question about what does success look like in a year. I would bet, from my real-world experience, that few if any interviewer would have thought that through before listing the job or interviewing. They may like that I was able to confidently expose their own weakness -- and enjoy that I challenged them; or their egos might not be that strong, and then I end up rejected because they felt less than stunning as an interviewer. I have a few other questions that get me this response as well. Do you think there is something to be said for reading your interviewers? If they seem inexperienced (which is often the case for me because I'm a lifelong individual contributor, and thus not always in interviews with the seasoned execs.) I am SO experienced in job hunting and interviewing (not necessarily proud of that) that I literally critique their interview skills rather than worrying about mine. I don't tell them this, but I have experienced feeling more prepared and articulate than the interviewers. I think the best thing to do in this case is to NOT ask the tough questions, even though they should be considered a good thing. Choose to make THEM feel like the winner and the smart one for finding YOU, regardless of their lack of preparedness. I mean of course, if you still want the job. Thanks.
I never thought about asking the interviewer that question. It makes so much sense when you think about it. They never ask you about how would you handle a situation like (this) and it's amazing because it's true they always seem to be wondering more about your past. I think it's because it's part of their "let's ask this question to disqualify this person quickly" instead of "let's check and see how much this person can help the company. They do it backwards in my way of thinking. But also, on the other hand most interviewees don't realize that both sides are interviewing each other. For example, I would be interviewing the interviewer to see if I want to really work for them. I want to know what "They" can offer me. I know what I can offer then and I want to know if it evens out for the both of us.
@@MissCee_88 of course! I do my best to answer as many of the RUclips comments as I can. I appreciate you spending time watching and engaging in my videos. I want to do what I can to help you in return!!
Inspiring. I am a fresh graduate, now I am clear on what I should tackle to win the interviewer's heart despite my expected lack of experience in the job world.
Hi Andrew. I want to thank you from bottom of my heart. So much gratitude for knowledge you are putting outside in the world. I never worked as employee till age 30. I worked as freelancers and it was really difficult to get job because I am not from top tier universities and I don't like doing job which I am not passionate about. I am from developing country and I never felt comfortable in work culture here. I started applying for jobs in Europe as I have masters degree from good university in The Netherlands. From last two years I was applying but no luck. In June 2021, I came across your videos and started applying methods and mindset you described. Till now I got two interview calls and one offer even when I am non-EU person. I want to eventually transform my career into entrepreneurship, I feel your guidance is invaluable. I would love to join your leadership coaching once I restart my career. I am very anxious person and your tips for interview was so helpful reducing my anxiety. You are awesome man!
avp Thank you so much for sharing your kind words and your impressive progress. It's inspiring and I'm thrilled my videos helped you! Best of luck and I look forward to having in the leadership program when the time is right.
@@andylacivita thanks, after 7 interviews I landed my dream job. The best question I asked was what does success look like for this position in a year.
I want to say "Outstanding Quality Professional Work" This is a rare moment when an individual takes the time to share their experience and knowledge with others in this employment climate. Thank you
I think all of those concepts are very important. Yet almost always I was hired because the interviewer liked me more than the other applicants. Humor works.
If I would ask my (now current) employer a year ago only this one question that you mentioned here, I wouldn't be searching for a new job right now!! Spot on, brilliant stuff, Andy
must admit . . . . . at 17:00 what Andrew is describing is spot on perspective. I was answering exactly this type of historical, behavioral probing by the whse GM. i replied with my background story answering to their probing. this same context was repeated by another manager in the interview. finally the 3rd manager flipped the atmosphere by describing the purpose of this questioning. the prior person in this position i was advocating for had continuously failed the responsibilities in question. Where Andrew nailed it was drawing this line of questioning (which seems baseless as he explained) to the bigger picture where i am pushing my strengths into their concerns where they can see me supporting these demonstrative needs. I failed to do this aptly enough. game over. that was a good call by Andrew starting at 17:00.
Just came across your channel and immediately subscribed. Last year I interviewed with a great company made it to the third out of four rounds, including a one hour test (which included essays, spelling, and math) for HR position. I was told I would hear back within the week but did not. I called in spoke with the person I interviewed with last who would also be my supervisor. He said they decided to go with someone else. I asked if there was anything I should brush up on that would have given me better chance. He said no and encouraged me to apply again to future opportunities. Several months later I applied for a receptionist position made it to first round phone interview but not even called back. I know this is lengthy, but not getting the HR job really took the wind out of my sails. It's been difficult to bounce back. Any suggestions?
This video is worth every minute of it. In short, connect the past to the future to build a future picture in their minds that actually appeals to them. Right?
Hi, I’m sure these types of notes will never get old but I fully believe this tip brought me over the finish line to my new job. They were immediately interested from the get-go of my first interview which was a great feeling. The better pay and knowledge they fully believe in me to do the job doesn’t hurt either. I used the momentum gained in my first interview to, I believe, fully land it and talk about how I could be a great asset in the company for them in the future with all of the team members I will be working with (both interviews were more behavioral). Somehow, this should have seemed like such a no brainer but in the end, I think it was this ability to be forward thinking that also made me confident in the interview process. I do have 2 questions- 1. How do I successfully take this momentum and carry it into the position starting from Day 1? 2. Does where you sit in an interview matter? As an example, my first interview with this company took place in a decent sized conference room and I set at the head of the table and the two interviewers sat further down. Fast forward to second interview and a total of 6 people, I tried to accommodate everyone by sitting in the middle of the table and they asked me to sit once again at the head of the table. I’m guessing I was memorable in that regard?!
Brendan Grace great to hear! On 1, get as much of a head start going into day 1 by getting them to get you all the material you need in advance and so forth. On 2, it sometimes matters where you sit in the room, but this is all dependent on room size and furniture configuration. Don’t sweat this right now.
The advice to make sure more time is spent on the future rather than the past. This was the best advice!!!! I was selected above all other candidates and I believe this was one of the reasons. Thank you
Thanks for your advice, Andrew! I was following the recommendations that resonated with me the most and I got a job right after my first interview! Which was actually the first one in my life haha THANK YOUUUU
Thanks for the word “future”. I haven’t been consistently overt about the future.. and received feedback that I didn’t share what I WOULD do in an interview with one of the owners of a private company. I know how to approach this differently.
THIER future not YOUR past. Thank you! That was very worth my time. I will never unknow that! I love that tip....value added to this audience member! 👍
Just found your channel! I'm 22 and preparing for my first ever job interview so thank you for all of this! I'm confident I will nail this interview with your help!
I've been to a few job interviews lately. They seemed really impressed with my answers to their questions but the next day I always seem to get an email that says sorry but we've hired someone else. People tend to hire other people who are like them. And I've yet to meet a hiring person who reflects my personality. You can have all the job qualifications you want, but unless you match the hiring person in personality you won't get hired. It's in our nature. It's how we make friends.
eurosonly I believe that is somewhat true because they are also looking for someone who is going to blend in well with not only the interviewer, but the entire team.
Absolutely this! I just interviewed for (and landed) a new job and when I left I was talking to my husband and I told him it felt less like a job interview and more like a will you fit in with the office interview.
Well, I followed the basic instructions in this video and a couple of your others............and I got hired! Again! I'ma tell people about your channel when I hear they're job-searching, and in fact I have already started doing that. Thanks for doing these vids.
Excellent approaches to responding to questions and about being prepared in an executive position. In my experience, for some of the companies I have interviewed with, many of those questions/ answers are volunteered BEFORE the interview begins. As an Executive candidate, often I am given a full tour of facilities, introduction to various departments, and given an thorough explanation of how the executive position would be best served. What do you ask if the employer has already discussed and volunteered many of the scenarios, prior to the interview?
Thanks Andy I applied your tip @18:37s, last week and today. They Both said that is a great question. Will update you on what is going on with the jobs
Hi Andy, They readvertised the job that I have been rejected for. What I have to do? I already sent them a following rejection email and also one to give me a feedback on my interview.
Wow,this is a very interested video,I have just immigrate to the USA about 2 years now from a different country, and the job searching is so different here in the USA,I have been working self employed a longtime ago,and so I haven't ever be in a real job interview, but since I have immigrate here in the USA I decided to search for jobs that can match up with my experience I had,so I love your video.
Hey Andrew, absolutely love your videos! They’re so informative! I do have some reservation about the number one question you ask the interviewer “If I was to take this job, a year from now what specifically will the person have accomplished for you to know that it was successful” - my gut feeling says that question is too bold, too overconfident. Why would an interviewer reveal their cards on what they’re looking for specifically to be successful? Could you be putting them in an awkward position expecting them to answer a question like that? I dunno. I’d be too nervous to ask a question like that. Maybe it’s because I lack confidence. I could be wrong, would love to have your feedback. Thanks for your videos.
Fantastic question. If you’re not sure, ALWAYS ask for clarification. Or, ask what specifically do they want to know. It’s always ok to ask clarifying questions in an interview!
Thank you so much. When you care isn’t not only a wonderful feeling, but it provide motivation and the worlds best competitive advantage when you need it most!
My father in law gave me this great question to ask at an interview. It really impresses and sets you up for success. "A year from now, I want you to look back on your decision to hire me and be happy that you made that decision. What could I do during the first year of work to make sure that happens."
Really good information. I've failed my last 2 interviews. I'm not a good story teller and I when I clock off work, I typically leave work at work. Your theory of creating a imagination trumps Reality.
Thanks Andrew, your tips are really helpful I also bought your book. I found however, during second stage interview emotions can get in the way, I found if I was de-tachted and relaxed I would perform a lot better. Do you have any video/tips on that ? Thanks
Giorgio, I have videos on my channel. One related to confidence, on in nerves, and another on second interviews. Enjoy all of them. Just search the channel. You’ll find them!
Oh man thank you so much for this tutorial. Your approach really changed my view to the interview and how I can handle their questions. Thanks a lot, much love and God bless
If the interviewer says "Thank you so much, it was great talking to you. I look forward to talking with you again", would you say that's a positive sign or them just being nice? 🙏 Also, what does it mean when the interviewer doesn't end the interview and practically waits for you to end it?? The interviewer literally refused to end it. I interviewed the other day and I was waiting for her to end it and so, I just kept asking questions. She was very nice and answered all of my questions fully.
I like this video. I figured out what it is that I want to do. I've been a cashier, a bagger, maintenance, and I tried to be a team member, but I need to change careers. I graduated from college with a bachelors degree in business administration. I want to find an office job, or desk job. Something that has to do with business. Again I like this video.
Hello: You've been a great help to me and I usually get the job even though I'm older. The problem I face is that employers aren't honest about the position and it seems they don't actually know the dynamics of their company. Therefore, I can't make an informed decision and am again disappointed. I have been candid with the employer and always mention my "happiness factor". Employers are aghast when a potential employee lies to them yet they seem to think it's ok when they do it. I feel trapped in a horrible situation and am again looking after just six months. What can I do differently in an interview to ensure I am getting the facts?
behavioural interview is based on the principle that past beh can accurately predict future beh. one of the most statistically valid ways to predict job performance ;) but point taken
@andrewlacivita I just had a great -knocked it out the park- phone interview a few hours ago and I used that question. The interviewer and possible new boss said, “I really really like that question. Everyone should ask that.” Sure enough I got a second interview and she told me there was nothing holding her back from hiring me so far. Wow, I can’t tell you how much of a weight off my shoulders to know she doesn’t have any cons. After other interviews I would question what I said and if I said enough, well now I am just focusing on the next interview. I am also about toemail my thank you letter of course. Thanks Andrew!!
Amazing tips! Definitely learned alot and felt more comfortable in the interview. And they offered me the job on the spot! It's easier than you think guys! Good luck!
Will your ultimate question would apply for the admin job? How would it applies to the admin job? I’m a new subbie. Your videos so informative. Thank you so much! I
Hey Andrew, love your channel. I do not have the budget to get your full program since I am a student, but do you think buying your book will cover all the materials to prepare myself for a job that you cover in the training program?
Thank you, Andrew! You are one of the best salesperson I know! Really love how you delivery the messages. Your favorite interview question is now my favorite question to ask employers! It's brilliant!
Andrew, you are amazing. Could you talk on how to get a job in the USA without visa, as a foreigner. How to convince for a contract role. Is that even possible?
All of that is possible!! The best route for a visa IF you have a great, in demand, or hard to find skill is to target companies directly. If you do not have a specific in demand skill, it’s better To try to attain employment with a large international company near or in your local country, and get them to move you to do United States!
Andy, I thought in was going to be doing this alone. Thank you for all ur advice. There are those that are heading somewhere in life and you truly help us out.
I consider that the most important tip is to research the company. When the employee will meet the employer and present information about the company, the employee will succed to gain the trust of the employer.
Hey Folks, so glad you stopped by this video. Hope you enjoy it and make sure to drop your feedback and questions in the COMMENTS so I can help you build a career you love!!!
Andrew LaCivita is video good for interviews of hospitality positions
Jessica Arbea it works for ANY position and industry!!

I would add to that...really learn the company and relate your experience to the job and display positive body language
What kind of work do you do?
Robin, I hope you're right! Because I had an interview on Tuesday and that's basically what happened.
Glad it was helpful!
You’re welcome and love to hear this!!
Wow. Amazing.

Yeeeaaassss! Huge congrats on this. Lots of luck with the in person sessions!!
Thanks

Thanks Andrew. Used the 2nd method in 3 straight interview rounds and bagged a job at a Fortune 200 client! It played a major role in reducing the interview time and the interviews were crisp and were to the point. I was able to steer the ship right from the beginning of the interview just because of how I answered this question. Will forever be grateful for you ❤
❤️❤️❤️Love hearing this! 💥Huge congratulations Chaitanya❗️❕👏

I recently failed an interview, and now I'm confident that this one video would have changed everything. I focused too much on my past. :/
Hang in there JP. You know the technique now!

Hi Andrew, I am an urban/environmental planner from Europe who is just out of college after doing a BA and two MSc's. I can't tell you how brilliant your advice is. You are so positive, and so upbeat. The world needs more people like you. Thank you.
You’re so welcome!!
Thanks!
great vid Andy. i learned alot from you in those 24 minutes. i can see how future orientation is critical in any job interview. im 68 years old hoping to re-enter the workplace on a part-time basis. i worked 24 years in retail bank management and then owned and operated a beverage distribution business for 14 years. after caring for my elderly mother for 6 years im ready to embrace a new challenge. i will follow you here in youtube. glenn
Love it Glennie!
The decision whether they will hire you is made within 5 seconds of meeting the interviewer(s). My mother was an interviewer and knew within seconds if the person had a chance. Her best advice was to think of an interview like it is a date. If there is no connection between you and the interviewer you have no chance.
So true! And starting a new job is like starting a new relationship. You won't know if you're trully compatible until you live together 😁
I like this concept.......
Couldn't agree more
Damn.. i have never dated.. that's why its being tough i guess..
5 secs?! Damn you sure? So they going off on appearance..? Cus there is no way you can get info on someones experience that quick!
When I saw the date of this video I wondered if I should watch, considering that it was made way before the whole Covid situation, which is why I need to find a new job. I see many comments made in the last few months, including Zoom interviews, so here I go. I dread this job search, first in many years.
katgirlblue you got this Kat. If you have the energy. I have an entire COVID/Coronavirus playlist. Enjoy!

3 points that i notice and I remember in my next interview 1-Tack ON, 2-Future accomplishment success after 1 year and 3-Focus on Future 😍
👊👊👊
Love this question, absolutely nails it:
If I or anyone were to take this job - a year from now, what specifically will the person have accomplished for you to know that it was successful?
There's a lot of textbook basic questions like: Is this a new role or filling a vacancy?
That's probably too generic, interviewer might be thinking "how does this relate, exactly?"
"new! ok what else you got about the success of this role specifically?"
or
"... vacancy, but I'll leave it at that. thanks for asking though (not really)"
You’re so welcome!!!

I agree with you that gaining 'control' of the interview is important.
I used 18:39’s question at my interview today and it blew the VPs mind away.
Thank you for that.
Hey, what exactly happened there 😅
Did you got that job??
Himanshu Suman yes I did! A director role
Yessss
I used this one to land the job of a lifetime. I’m about to use it again when I’m interviewed in 4.5 hours!
Andy, thanks for the great videos. I love your ideas for questions, such as "in one year after you hire this person, what will that person have done/accomplished to know they are successful?"
Personally, I would be stunningly impressed if I were the interviewer, but I have had interviews where that kind of a tough question throws them.
If they seem inexperienced (which is often the case for me because I'm a lifelong individual contributor, and thus not always in interviews with the seasoned execs.)
I am SO experienced in job hunting and interviewing (not necessarily proud of that) that I literally critique their interview skills rather than worrying about mine.
True words!!
This actually works guys. I followed his Advice and landed a job with a big company during the pandemic. Thank you so much Andrew.

If I would ask my (now current) employer a year ago only this one question that you mentioned here, I wouldn't be searching for a new job right now!! Spot on, brilliant stuff, Andy
Natasa Haas at least you know it now Natasa!!!!
must admit . . . . . at 17:00 what Andrew is describing is spot on perspective.
You got this Scott. If you missed it, chalk it up to practice and you will definitely get em next time!!
I said it once and I say it again: best coach on RUclips.

This video is worth every minute of it. In short, connect the past to the future to build a future picture in their minds that actually appeals to them. Right?
Awesome. You got it!!
I do have 2 questions-
Ive watched soooo many videos on interviewing and wow. This is the first time ive heard this and it makes so so much more sense. Thank you!!

Thank you indeed Mr. Andrea LA Civita for training us on You Tube....I appreciate your concern my dear brother

Thanks Andy
I applied your tip @18:37s, last week and today. They Both said that is a great question.
Will update you on what is going on with the jobs

What is your advice for when someone does not understand the question or how to answer it?! Love your videos, thanks for the help! ❤
Fantastic question. If you’re not sure, ALWAYS ask for clarification. Or, ask what specifically do they want to know. It’s always ok to ask clarifying questions in an interview!
great tip andy on the future angle … i find most recruiters have not read my cv in detail and are lazy , fair point or not ?
Recruiters probably have skimmed your resume at a minimum.
I like the idea of bringing the past to the future. I will try this in my next interview!
Please do. Lots of luck with it!
"I care about you, cas you are here with me... " - you are a good caring person.
Amazing book. It’s very hands on and no platitudes.
Thank you HMM! Happy Saturday!!
You’re so welcome!!
This is a great tip. Thank you so much for sharing. I experienced this first hand and it works 110%.
So glad you liked it Waeel!!
I looooooooove Andrew LaCivita!!! So useful for keeping not only the job orientation professional but keeps sharp on how to be an valuable asset!
Thank YOU 🙏 so much. Love that you enjoy the material!!!
It may be 4 years old, but it's priceless. Thank you Sir for your insight, energy and support. 5 stars and then a few more for beer money. Be well. RR
You’re so welcome!!
If the interviewer says "Thank you so much, it was great talking to you. I look forward to talking with you again", would you say that's a positive sign or them just being nice? 🙏
Also, what does it mean when the interviewer doesn't end the interview and practically waits for you to end it?? The interviewer literally refused to end it. I interviewed the other day and I was waiting for her to end it and so, I just kept asking questions. She was very nice and answered all of my questions fully.
Yes in the first. I’m not sure on the second!
Great to hear!!
I love this. What's more, everything that you're saying jives with my knowledge of sales and selling.
Love to hear it!!
Great Sharing & it's hilarious to see your reaction..I'm gonna apply this later on.tq
👊
Andy this is brilliant! I will make use of this tip and let you know how it works out. Your advice has been a rock solid goldmine so far.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Your approach is so helpful for a young professional like me competing with experienced co-interviewees. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Ma!
Sound advice! Such a refreshing approach 👌
Glad it was helpful!
What can I do differently in an interview to ensure I am getting the facts?
what is older?

behavioural interview is based on the principle that past beh can accurately predict future beh. one of the most statistically valid ways to predict job performance ;) but point taken
Check out my behavioral interview video for more!!
Good luck!
Glad it was helpful! Go get 'em!
Will your ultimate question would apply for the admin job? How would it applies to the admin job? I’m a new subbie. Your videos so informative. Thank you so much! I
Yes it does apply to an admin role. Thanks for subscribing to my channel!
Starts at 6:00
Thanks
Thank you, I never would've gotten that far
Hey Andrew, love your channel. I do not have the budget to get your full program since I am a student, but do you think buying your book will cover all the materials to prepare myself for a job that you cover in the training program?
5:10 just like coach Corey Wayne says: human beings make decisions and buy things based on emotions. Then, use logic and reason to justify
Thank you, Andrew! You are one of the best salesperson I know! Really love how you delivery the messages. Your favorite interview question is now my favorite question to ask employers! It's brilliant!
Wonderful to hear it Scott! Thanks for kind words too!
I wish I found your channel a couple months ago.
Fantastic info and will be using it in my 1st round of interviewing tomorrow.
Thank you!!!
Wonderful to hear Matthew!!
@@andylacivita wow, that's double value in your answer! Thanks!
The "forward thinking guidance" and "one-year-successful scenario" are so helpful! This is brilliant.
Thanks so much Yixu!
Thanks! i also bought your book. I appreciate your videos.
Thank you so much for this Christy! I’m just seeing it now. And thanks too for the super thanks!!🙏
Andy,
I thought in was going to be doing this alone.
Thank you for all ur advice.
There are those that are heading somewhere in life and you truly help us out.
Anthony, you'll never be alone as long as I'm alive!
I consider that the most important tip is to research the company. When the employee will meet the employer and present information about the company, the employee will succed to gain the trust of the employer.
