Been riding Goldwings for years. By far a superior touring bike to anything else out there. Even the first generation was amazing!
As an owner of 2 GL1000 and 3 GL1100, I agree 👍
I miss my old GL1000 :(
Glad you went for a ride after reading your problems with weight loss. Don't stress it, Jess, just ride, you'll feel better.
Hello, you are the lucky one, getting to ride the new Goldwing. I can relate. I had the first Goldwing in Oregon, in 1975. What a blast at that time. I put 65,000 miles on it in 2 1/2 yrs. Keep up the good videos. Thanks, Ron
As someone with 90K miles on my 3 year old GoldWing - I hear ya!
The first 1975 Goldwing mufflers and tailpipes were so quiet, the 1975 Goldwings felt almost electric.
I've been riding a 2019 DCT Tour for the last 2.5 years and love it. My previous Goldwing was a 2003 that I rode for 288,000 miles. This new bike is awesome . My only complaint has been the seat but that was easily remedied.
What did you do to fix the seat?
Jess on a Goldwing ! That's amazing ! Can't wait to see you go for a roadtrip on it ! Cheers ! 😃👍
Wow, I’m shocked that you’re on this wing. I’ve had my DCT Tourer right at 5 years. I’m so excited for you. My experience was I waited forever for this bike to come in here in Lubbock, Texas. It finally did May of 2018. I watched for it forever. I test rode it only wondering who the hell would want a DCT. Not me, just curious I was. I never let the dealership have it back after that demo. Purchased it immediately. Now, 5 years later, I wonder who the hell would want a manual. I’ve been riding over 50 years, Goldwing since 1981. This is absolutely the most incredible, comfortable, luxurious motorcycle on the market to date. At least in my mind. I’m so excited for you, so excited to see upcoming content on this Goldwing. You’re awesome, your content is awesome and funny a lot too. Thanks for all you contribute to us old men on motorcycles. Ride on Sister… Ride on…
One thing about the DCT that I’ve tried to describe to folks is how it seems to change the riding experience. It’s a difficult thing to quantify. You’ve obviously been riding long enough that your clutch and shifter operation are done almost on a subconscious level. With the DCT and without a clutch or shifter to operate, I seem to focus on different aspects of the ride. The DCT seems to enhance the experience. Still have a few H-D’s and a ‘15 Goldwing, but the ‘21 is difficult to leave in the shop. Have fun with it!
I agree Bo! I recently got a '21 Africa Twin DCT and I've owned several dirtbikes and ADV bikes before this one but no longer focusing on clutch work makes it so much easier to traverse terrain and enjoy the ride. Even when I'm just cruising down a regular road it frees you up to take in the moment a bit more and enjoy the ride that much more. I never thought I'd like the DCT until I got a really good deal on one and I fell in love with it. My other bike is an Indian Chieftain but I could definitely see a DCT Goldwing in my future!
I agree, Bo. I just bought a 2023 GW DCT 2 days ago and the DCT frees up having to think about what gear you are in or what gear you should be in. That portion of your brain that was devoted to shifting can now be applied to other, more important aspects of your ride.
@@KurtisIsley That's exactly it. Enjoy your new bike!
Love my DCT. I can focus on my surroundings and all of sh*tty distracted drivers that seem to be out to kill us lol. I still up/down shift as needed and can have fun without manually shifting.
Like a Quantum Experience 😊👍.
Congrats on trying the Goldwing. The reason Honda only sells that model with DCT is that when it came out, over 90% of the units sold were ordered with DCT. Once you get used to it, (I have DCT on my Honda CTX700) you'll love it. I am a DCT lover. Especially in traffic where it won't wear out your left hand. And it is beautiful, smooth, and powerful. The only thing you may miss from a Harley is the ability to rev-bomb it, and if you like the exhaust noise. You can get narrower after market seats, if you need one. Welcome aboard. 👍🏾 For a name? I'm partial to BBW.😋
The DCT Goldwing is absolutely brilliant riding thru heavy traffic in cool cities like London, Paris, Barcelona or Rome. Absolutely love it! 🤙🏼
Could you use the GW as a daily commute?
@@informedcarpet Yes you can for sure use a GW as a daily commute!
What you have there is TWO bikes! In Tour mode it’s a Gold Wing, but once you put it in Sport mode it transforms like KITT’s Super Pursuit Mode into an ST1800! I’ve never experienced such a complete transformation in any other motorcycle. Enjoy it!
That bike is a beast!!! Personally, I really love the DCT. I have the Rebel 1100 DCT and even if at first I would miss the clutch and complain about how it manoeuvers, after a few months, I got to understand how to ride it, enjoy it and darn....it is FAST! Great video Jess!
Can see your genuine joy which made for a great video and the start was just cute as heck. I love my Harley but have to admit that I've been eyeing GoldWings for a little while. Honda was smart to loan you this bike and can't wait to see more of this and longer rides, especially since Honda is not great at allowing test rides, at least not around here.
I've owned over 50 bikes over the decades, including several Harleys and 2 Gold Wings now. Enjoyed the Harleys, but the GW's are just a far superior bike in all ways. No comparison is fair. Comfort, speed, handling, tech, sporting riding and long distance riding. The Wing just is better. I don't much like DCT, an old school gear banger here, but that's just my preference. If you end up with a Wing you won't be disappointed.
@@keithallen3119 I wonder how long they last. Seems to be a lot more complicated to maintain than a Harley. Thanks for the feedback.
@@TwoWheelsBackroads Hondas are on top of the reliability list. They last forever.
@@TwoWheelsBackroads Basic maintenance will get you 300k+ miles without major issues most of the time. I recently (2022) met a man with 600k on his early 2002 model and 400k on his 2018! He is retired, fairly well off financially, kids grown and not married; he rides everyday all over the US. Basically lives on 2 wheels.
Nothing but tires, brakes, oil and filter, etc. Amazing.
@@keithallen3119 Thanks! Appreciate the info.
It warms my heart that you are not stuck in a single brand box. Your smile is the high point of my day so far.
Beautiful bike Jess! Glad Honda loaned you one for a few months. You want lol absolutely have a blast on it. Ride safe and keep us up to date on your experience with it.
This is the happiest that I have ever seen you in a video, that says a lot about this motorcycle. Name it Blue-Glide. Have fun lapping America, and ride safe.
I have own both,a person told me the Goldwing is great engineering but the Harley is welcome by all ages.Have fun riding😄
I’ve been riding Goldwings off and on for my entire adult life, I started when I was in my early 20s, way before I became a Dad! I love them!!! I haven’t taken a ride on a 2018+, I’m sure I will, but only when I’m ready to buy one! I’ve heard that as soon as I ride one, I’m be buying it… that’s a beautiful bike!!!
Thanks for taking us along. This bike ride was cool ❤
Maybe it’s because I’m a “dad” but I have always LOVED❤ Hondas! They are durable, smooth and they last forever!
Good job!!
You killing me 🤣🤩 Wings are amazing.
The Honda Goldwing is the ultimate touring bike. It may not be the coolest, but it beats all others hands down. You will also find those Nikes becoming your favorite shoes to wear, but they are not cool either. The closer you get to 40, the less important "cool" becomes. That is just some fatherly advice. BTW, you rocked more "Dad" stuff in this video than I have my entire life. LOL Enjoy the ride!
Nice creativity with the intro. Very cool that Honda came through with a loaner. That goldwing looks amazing. What a spaceship.
Yes for the GW Camping!!! Those colors, blue black silver, on that GW are incredible!!!
I've been riding Harleys since 1979. I have two in the barn right now. I brought a very nice 2007 Honda Goldwing three weeks ago... I LOVE IT!!!
I’ve never owned a Goldwing or even ridden one, but I’m strangely excited about this. Also, there’s NO WAY I would have thought to look in that cubby for a gas cap release button. And hell yeah I want to see a Goldwing Moto camping video.
If you ride one be prepared to write the check as the GW experience many have come back to the dealer and say "I gotta have the GW!" just saying.
Bet your number of subs will increase with this Goldwing on the channel. I owned one a few years ago and went coast to coast with it. Truly, a great bike.
I've had 3 goldwings since 1994. 2014 is my current. All were purchased new awesome machines. I also own a Harley. I do alot of touring with both and love them both. The wife prefers to be on the wing. So the Harley is for solo trips and going with the guys. I hope you enjoy the experience of being on a wing. Looking forward to your adventures on "Babe" the blue ox. (But she runs like a gazelle).
Congrats on becoming a dad!!! Enjoy the dad glide. That blue is a gorgeous color
Jess keep your head up I know you may not see or feel it but you and your husband inspire a lot of people including myself.
Cool , this is awesome, you’re gonna have some fun on this machine , thanks for sharing!👍😎
I’ve been watching your channel with my now 12 year old daughter for the last 3 years. She asks me to take her for rides on my Sportster because she enjoys watching you so much. Jordan is a really lucky man to have a wife wearing Nike air dad shoes while riding her loaner dad bike.
I own a 2021 and absolutely love it !!! I also own a 2003 Harley Deuce and I absolutely love it as well !!! They're completely different riding experiences. Which is what makes it SO COOL !!! KEEP up the great videos !!!
That was awesome! I’m so glad you shared your experience with this the Goldwing! I have a 2021 DCT Tour and I absolutely love it. I hope you post more videos of your adventures on this bike. And if you are ever in the Tampa Bay Area, I would love to join you on a Cruise with my bike! Safe travels! 😃👍
Sport mode is really handy if you are doing twisties. The bike will act more like a manual shift in that when you let off the throttle it slows down more so than it would in touring or economizer. Have fun.
Never seen you happier and energetic. God Bless!!
Thanks Jess, sports mode😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This new gen of dct wings are absolutely amazing things to ride.
Can't wait to see more dad ventures safe travels
I love mine, I sold my Street Glide last spring after I test drove a 2022 6spd manual tour in black. A week later I was driving it home.
Nothing like riding a 'wing', the best ride I have ever had. Wish I had mine back after thinking the roadliner was the way to go. As they say, "is like riding in your easy chair"
Getting Jordan to help with the skit and the Iroh tea cup made for a hilarious opening. That Goldwing is a beautiful shade of blue!
100% go camping on it, call it the blue beetle?
oooh I like that name! And yes... jordan was the star of the show next to the kicks hahah
@@HerTwoWheels I agree. I've never done the moto-camping thing, still riding a Rebel 250, but am an avid car-camper. Grew up outside of Toledo on the back of dad's Goldwing, so that's my next bike. I'd like to see your experience in packing the bike and it's ability to store the gear that you need and how well it does it or doesn't. What is the bike missing? Do you need to supplement with any extra gear to make the bike work for you? How does it do with the dirt/gravel roads that lead into sites? Is it stable? Can you put all of your camping gear on/in the bike and have room leftover for a bundle of firewood (or is that a separate trip)?
Also, like you, I have a short inseam...about 29 to 30 inches, so if you change the seat, what do you change it to? I've sat on a couple of new Wings at the showrooms, and am definitely on my toes...not the most comfortable feeling, so how are you overcoming that? And, how does it do around the city...in traffic/at stoplights, etc?
What about lean angles? Not looking for numbers, but looking for feelings...does it feel heavy as you lean it? Is it easy enough to re-right the bike or does it feel heavy?
Do you find the computer and high-tech stuff on the bike good? Is there too much? Is it too complicated? Too many menus? Not intuitive? How well does it integrate with an iPhone vs an Android phone? Do you care about stuff like that?
Any insight into these types of experiences would be great! Thanks Jess and keep the videos coming...love seeing parts of Ohio...loving Southern California weather, but Ohio feels like home!
Looking like ole shade tree. Thanks for blessing us with this fun ride. Love how you go from brand to brand and ride them all.
I am a Harley Davidson convert and a very happy 2023 Honda Goldwing Tour DCT owner, and I am SO happy that you are reviewing and bringing further exposure to this wonderful, elegant, refined, powerful and addicting machine!!
A dad is an earned title not something just anyone can call themselves.
Hello from Chillicothe. I’ve logged 53000 on my 2018 Ardent Red DCT Tour. Most days when the winter is behind us I’m on Rt 23 @ 4:15 AM heading to work in West Jefferson. The cruse home on the back roads is usually the part of the day I look forward to the most. Anyway enjoy the wing.
Stella sounds like a good name for the Wing ... Happy you are enjoying it . They are amazing machines ...
Riding that Gold Wing just might be what you need to help you with all your issues. You look as if all your stress is gone. Use it. It just might work.
And if Honda should decide to give you that Gold Wing, you already have your name for it. Optimus Prime would be proud! HAVE FUN! 🏍🏍
That is a sharp looking ride. Gorgeous Goldwing. Love the "dad" shirt.
Awesome! I like the Dad shoes and the shirt! Josh drives along with you rent free!😆
Thanks Jess your happy and giddy in this one prompted me to go finish repairs on my turd and then i proceeded to go crush around 100 miles of just back road cruising thanks !!
How cool Jess!! Have fun on her!!! Ride safe!!!
You got the Dad Force-1s, a beach party shirt, and even worked in a Ask Me How I Know! Felt like a Shadetree tribute and I’m here for it! Lol.
Hell yes Jess! The only bike I'll trade my Honda ST1300 for is a Goldwing, and one specifically with a DCT. I'm excited to see you do absolutely anything with the Wing! Imagine how game changing this would be in Atlanta traffic LOL
So glad to see you on a Wing finally!! I personally love the 2002- 2014s. Just my opinion I don’t like the looks of the new wings. Goldwings have been my favorite bike since I test road numerous of them and the F6B when it was brand new in 2013. Peace out and ride on!!
Come back to Arkansas and bring Shade tree with you, I”ll meet you at the Cat House.
Enjoy this machine. it's a blast every time I am on her. It takes a bit time to get use to the DCT. I am hooked and I can't see myself going back to manual ever again.
Congrats on the loaner! I can't wait to see all the crazy videos you're gonna make. I'd love to see a trip to NYC. And as far as a name... Violet after the character in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. She was the one that turned in to a giant blue berry.
Excited to see the goldwing content and great intro for the video… Hawaiian shirts make the dad ensemble complete 😂
Girl- I have ridden for years . i have a 2017 Street glide and just bought a 2024 white Goldwing tour- I love it- Its so incredible and totally a different ride. Smoothest Bagger around!
What you now have is a thoroughbred stallion (with wings lol). You will not want to let go. It will never get tired on you. A sublime experience in interaction between human and machine.
DAD-VENTURES!!! Bahahahahaha! Did you make this up?!?! I’ll never look at a gold wing the same! Them sneaks are on point. 💕
Finally your on the most luxurious motorcycle ever made, and n the road!! I have a 2008 Honda Goldwing gl1800, wouldn’t trade it for anything!! 😊Hoosier Wing loves your videos!👍🏻⭐️🇺🇸💫
Happy to see you riding a goldwing jess I have been watching you for a while now, I ride an older 07 goldwing and also a 2014 valkyrie. Love them both, I am not the biggest fan of the new wings, I like the 02-17 goldwings.
You should take Blue to the Blue ridge parkway where you meet up with Josh for a Dadventure on Goldwings
I like this idea
You had me laughing right off the hop when you said. "I wonder if it's the rain gear I lent him, three years ago!" 😂😂😂 Super cool bike tho. Honda is such a good brand. Looks good on ya.
I am so glad you got a chance to ride my motorcycle. well the exact same model. by the way, That Blue gets far more compliments than our buddies red one.....LOL! Honda is a progressive company, with highly successful lines. Honda Powersports seems to have the passion of the Formula One/GP racing, the stadium cross crowd, side by sides, ATV's Acura, the list goes on and on. Honda is dressed to impress.
So awesome to see you on the wing! Looks great with those kicks. Personally, I think the bike should be named "Blue Streak"!
I spent 25years on the Honda Goldwing, 1500 and 3 of the 1800 and 2 trikes, they are absolutely smooth and quit. 2.5 years ago I bought my 1st Harley-Davidson 2020 Road Glide Lmited and have never looked back, I absolutely love my RG, my last Wing I got it new and had it for 10 years and sold it with 98,000 miles on it.
BMW took the R18 back, but now you have this Gold Wing, just as the weather is turning for the sunshine. Not a bad turn of events. Right on!!
Love seeing you try out new bikes. I personally don't ever see me on a Goldwing but it is fun trying out the new things that are out there and you just never know.
I am literally 3 mins into this video and I love it!! I can't even right now. 😂 absolutely love it!!!
LOL this made me laugh so much. I really enjoyed this. Haha, nice pair of Nikes and a GoldWIng never fails to be a great ride!
I have a little over 75,000 miles on my ‘08 Gold Wing. I’ve owned it from new. Zero issues. Low cost of ownership. Best bike I’ve ever owned!
Do you change your own air filter? If not how much does your shop charge to replace it?
@@7viewerlogic670 I do not. Unfortunately I don’t recall how much I’ve paid to have the dealership do it. I normally have it done with other services.
@@gwattsjr Ok thanks. I replaced mine on a 2002, was a daunting task. Should go better next time.
Baloo!! That should be it’s name. 😁 “Look for the, bare necessities, the simple bare necessities, forget about your worries and your strife!!”
Love the intro story. Took me a while to notice the shirt was a Law Tigers shirt. Nice twofer there! Don't make it your regular riding gear. ATGATT. Wear the gear, it'll save your rear!™
Yeah, the Goldwings have a shit ton of torque. 10 years back or so, about 125ft lbs IIRC. Pre DCT.
FWIW, I've never ridden a DCT, but I'm not interested in a bike with an automatic transmission.
The wide seat makes for more all day comfort, but it does make for a longer reach to the ground than the seat height might imply.
BTW, I wouldn't recommend you adjust the windscreen at highway speeds. Well, don't adjust it up. That's hard on the motor. Save it for when you're stopped or doing say... 25mph or less. Of course it's a loaner, so, I'm sure the motor won't burn out on you. Modern adjustable screens do have beefier motors (possibly), but I'd avoid it just the same.
I know a couple of guys that can RIDE that own Goldwings. They love them. Great for clocking miles, they say. One of em is a Harley fan, too. The other wouldn't be caught dead on one. lol. Some people...
Looks like I may need to see you soon at a MA meeting. My name is Ride and I am a Motoholic.
Clamshell bags have their benefits. You just need to pack different. I have some clamshell Pelican bags on my F800GS. The lid drops down to like a shelf while I'm messing with my cameras, or digging for gloves, etc. Of course, if I don't put some things in bags and just shove em in the bag loose, well... I've never dumped half the contents on the ground at least. My Road King has top lids, so that's not a problem, but they're oddly shaped and hold way less. I just adapt.
Looking forward to more Goldwing content.
Check out my newest videos! 😜
Enjoy your time on the Wing. Lots to love, as well as many quirks one of which is the unnecessarily onerous process to open the gas tank cover.
The Nike Air Monarch’s paired with a gorgeous Honda Goldwing and your never ending joy for riding….I loved this video!!😎🤘🏻🇺🇸
That introduction was awesome! You killed it.
Fun video! You had me cracking up with the beginning 😂. I like bike. Thanks for the laughs.
My 2018 Hawkeye blue DCT is called Sapphire. So glad you got to experience the Dad ride. I was grinning ear to ear knowing the sport mode would make you giggle. I hope you get to experience a longer ride. I cane from a 2003 Electra Glide Classic and I love my Dad ride. It is almost too easy to ride,.if that can be a negative.
I still get compliments on my Wing after 21 years. Ya, I love it!🤣
Being a Gold Wing person myself, I really enjoyed this video and your joy of riding this different bike. Love the Dadshirt. Well done on the edit, it was really fun. Signed, the Gold Wing Grandpa.
🎉 you have me wanting to try this motorcycle and I'm short af😂 such joy you display while riding❤
Welcome to the Team Jess, ride safe and see you on the Road!
Congrats!! I just bought a 2023 Gold Wing DCT two days ago and I love it. I do slightly miss the fun of shifting gears on a bike with a manual transmission and I do miss extending my fingers and resting them on the clutch lever. But as others have said, the DCT allows you to focus more on other aspects of your ride: whether starting or stopping or taking a challenging curve, that small percentage of your brain power that was devoted to shifting gears on a manual transmission can now be applied to other, more important parts of your riding experience.
I had a nearly new 1978 Honda GW 1000 back around 1980 ish. Have had many bikes since but since 2017 I’ve been scooting around on a Honda GW F6B. This past summer (2022), I probably rode past your region as I rode from Alberta across Canada to Yarmouth NS, took the ferry across to Bangor Maine then rode back along the northern states to Montana and back home to Alberta. It’s a great bike to ride!
hell yeah! baby! that's awesome!! go camping go tour it! do it all
Awesome!!! The more touring bikes the better! Personally, the new Wings are a bit too sporty for me, but there's no doubt they're great machines! Also, one of my favorite parts of my Challenger is the adjustable windscreen. It's a better life and Harley needs to catch up in that regard! That said, no clue what Honda is thinking with the clam shell bags. Whhhhhy. Oh well, that blue is amazing! Beautiful machine!
They also make them with four wheels Great stability and rain protection. Sorry I just had to mention that.
Great content. I really enjoy how you give your thoughts on different bikes. That way someone shopping for a bike, can get informed before buying.
Oh my gosh the intro to this video had me cracking up! I think you should name it Lazy Boy Blue! It’s super comfortable like a lazy boy and it’s like a lazy bike with no shifting or needing to manually back it up. 😂
Seriously cute and well thought out intro to the video. Too Fun! Try not to get too used to the incredibly smooth and powerful DAD BIKE! If you do, the next step would be a 3 wheeler.
The Ultimate of the Ultimate of the Touring Motorcycles!!!! Smooth/quiet/comfy/powerful/accessories/storage/balanced/ergonomical ....
How it holds up to the others? You got it backwards.....It's how others hold up to the Gold Wing. I've had 7 Wings. Loved 'em all.
BUT...I've downsized to scooters....go figure hahahahahaha.
Name suggestions: Indivara or Puskara
I love your laughing !!
Greetings from Mexico !
Damn, Jess! First a BMW and now a Gold Wing. I am so jealous. You and Jordan should take a trip to the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts. He can take the Road Glide. Have a great weekend.
I just returned from a 12454 miles solo trip around the perimeter of the USA on my 2016 Goldwing. Nothing else compares. Pulling my Bushtec trailer, I still averaged 35mpg. It handled like a dream on the Tail of the Dragon.
OptimusPrime, should be the name. I’ll watch a DADVENTURE series for sure. I don’t fit on them, but a get why people love them.
the uncle Iroh teacup was dope. 🤙
ooooow your going back to a Honda!!! 😃
lmao!!! the lead up to the "dadventures" was great!!
Allright this is going in the top ten, great work Jess tons of fun!! You have shoot some video of Jorden riding on his throne in the back you just have too!
That’s a sharp looking bike. It’s so quiet. You probably can ride all day and not be fatigued from noise.
Thanks for the video jess that's a beautiful bike keep up the good work can't wait for the next video
