Hey Fish! You cracked me up with your reactions to riding it. I was laughing through the whole video. When I did my test ride on the DCT in the mountains I couldn’t believe how fun it was. I also immediately thought it was like driving a super car. If I could afford more than one motorcycle I would definitely have one, but I wouldn’t trade my Pursuit for it. Still believe hands down it’s the best motorcycle made, at least for me.

@@boths6ify I really think you can’t go wrong with the Pursuit. It has everything you would want in a sport touring bike. I add sport because this bike handles like a sport bike but also eats up the miles with ease. It is a complete joy to ride. You do have to get used to people wanting to talk to you about your bike. Constantly people are saying “wow what a beautiful bike, how do you like it?” It has so many great features, like the adjustable windshield, the great infotainment center and especially for your passenger, the fox air adjustable suspension. The when you ride alone, the touch on the screen and it’s the perfect suspension ride for you. As you can probably tell, I absolutely love this bike and I don’t know anyone who has it doesn’t feel the same. If you just test ride one, I think you’ll be sold. Good luck in your decision.

I've always said there is no better bike for interstate, cross country riding than a Gold Wing ! I am a V-twin purist & that's why I've never gone after one, but one of my riding buddies, before he quit riding because of an accident, rode the F6B variant of the Gold Wing. That thing just about blew away everything else on 2 wheels with the exception of sport bikes & the Triumph Triple. He put on slip ons ( I think they were Reinhardt's). That thing sounded like a blown small block Chevy, very nice indeed.....

3 years ago, I had bought a new DCT Tour and I have to say, in 35 years of riding, I never enjoyed so much riding a bike, like the wing. It is simply a magical machine. So strong, so smooth, so comfortable, even with the OEM seat, yes for me it is. Sport Mode is a Porsche Panamera. Honestly, I don't even know what else I can ride, as of now. I am waiting to see what Honda will do with the 25 model, one day. For now, Honda rocks solid. 16K on her and I never saw a dealer even for one tiny problem. Honda nailed it good with the smart DCT.

Bought my 18 nontour DCT in 18 to replace my 13 F6B. Rode 13 into dealer with the wife on the back and 18 out. Non tours don't come with backrests. I kinda told her that I had never rode the bike before sooooooo. We left the dealer and I decided to Sport Mode it away from the light. Mini wheelie and she was hanging off the back a little. We both smiled!! I commuted here in SoCal on It and the DCT worked great. The car like horn is LOUD. The walking mode forward/reverse is perfect for backing out of the garage or whatever. The low CG makes it handle pretty darn good for a big tour. I had a VFR 1200 DCT and that was FUN!. I turned my 18 into a full tour by adding the trunk. The wife loves it. Great video and I have laughed more than a few times. Time to get the BT MOTO flash and unleash this beast.

I had an 05 since new and enjoyed it quite a lot. I found a lightly used 2018 with the manual, which I prefer. As you said its much better than people know. It reminds me of my 83 Yamaha Venture which was another big sport tourer. Fast, comfortable and handled very well. I had an FJR 1300 for 10 years and the GW is just a bigger FJR, more comfortable and almost as quick overall. These new Wings handle better than they should, you can flick it on a back road quite well. I've owned over 50 bikes and the 18 Wing is one of the better ones I've owned as compared to the BMW's Yamahas, Kawasakis and Harleys. The DCT is extremely versatile. I use tour manual mode for back country rides about 50 MPH in 7th gear turning a hair less than 1.700 RPM. The engine is so relaxed with so much torque you just waft along like a feather in the wind. The DCT will actually downshift to 6th when the speed drops to 40 MPH in imperceptible fashion. So all you need is your left index finger to shift back up on relaxed rides in the country. I usually hop on the interstate to get back home and then it's sport manual 7th gear for the entire way. Downshifting is completely optional and usually just a waste of time there is so much torque. Seventy five MPH is a chill 2,500 RPM and the bike has great wind protection and a comfortable ride always. It really is a remarkable machine.

I've ridden a GoldWing ONCE and it was the easiest bike I've ever ridden and that was an old GL1200, so I can't imagine how good they are now, but based on your reaction and description it's pretty kick ass. I love seeing Indian and Harley riders reluctantly, or not, ride a GoldWing and lose their minds. Yes, it's a horizontal 6 cylinder 1800, basically an Accord on 2 wheels.

I agree with everything you said Fish. I had the same reaction when I rode it as well. It's simply a perfect motorcycle. It's fast, handles great, easy to ride, and dose everything you ask of it. It's everything you'd expect a Honda to be. All that and I absolutely hated the bike. Honestly for me it's too good. It boring, it's got no quirks, it evokes no emotions and it has no personality or soul. I'd never own one because I'd never ride it. As far as a bagger I'd choose my Challenger every time. Rolling that throttle in a curve as the bike sits down on its suspension and it will keep right on leaning and eating that curve until the chicken strip. While you were away Fish, the Victory had developed some problems and I had to move it on(after 10 years and 78k miles). I wasn't planning to buy a new touring bike, with the Vic gone I was lost.. You know I really wanted a Pursuit, but the reality is, I wasn't prepared and it was not the right time for me to drop near $40k on the new Indian. So as I looked looked around I came across a 2018 Goldwing Tour(manual) with on 10k miles and loaded with lots of extras. The cost was was half of the Pursuit so I decided to buy it... I'll tell ya, I never rode a bike like it, it blew me away to. Since I bought a few months ago I've put almost 5k miles on the bike, the more I've ridden and gotten used to it, the more I realize how kick ass of a motorcycle it is.... You did make a good comparison, going from a hoped up V-Twin to the Goldwing is like going form a roudy muscle car to a refined supercar. Oh and my wife says she's never been so comfortable on a motorcycle, she actually wants to ride & tour more than ever...

The only thing I've hated about the Hondas I've seen are they are way too quiet (for me, quiet is boring...I love listening to a louder bike) and the aesthetics. I feel like a DCT would be great in most cases, especially on long rides when passing vehicles, don't have to downshift manually, but I think doing slow speed maneuvering and u turns and all the drills would be a whole new learning curve. Because we mostly rely on the friction zone to control the bike, feel like controlling the throttle would be very choppy and would take a lot of fails and drops. But I never ridden a DCT, so I don't know.

@@Ridingfish When I do really slow speed stuff I use the clutch to modulate my speed. This is especially useful in switchback country and on crappier roads where you are avoiding potholes and rocks and have to do very tight manoeuvres. This is where I have concern about a DCT system because how does it know how to modulate the clutch in these situations ? For regular road work I’m sure it’s great but for more technical work I’m not sold on it. Maybe some of the Police Moto Officers can chime in if they have experience with DCT and their challenging courses that they have to qualify from.

I rode a gold wing dct back in 2018 when the new ones came out and really liked it. Great bike, but the riding position was very uncomfortable for me (I'm very tall) and the seat was HARD as well. (I hear it still is) The cargo space on the new GW is sorely lacking, especially compared to previous goldwings, and any other full touring bike. It's a superb machine to ride. Lacking in other areas. You really can't do much with it for comfort, either. It either works for you, or it just doesn't.

Bonjour! After owning many sportbikes since i first got my license in 1985, i traded my 1999 'Busa and bought my first cruiser in 2007. It was a brand new Suzuki M109R. At the time i wanted a more relaxed riding position but i still wanted a bike with a strong, powerful engine. I was ready to switch to a fully dressed touring bike in 2021. I bought a Victory Vision and i am very pleased with it. However, i miss the power and speed of my previous bikes. A few weeks after i bought my Victory, my long time friend bought a brand new 2021 Gold Wing bagger with a manual transmission. This bike is a masterpiece of engineering. It's fast, comfortable, the sound of that flat 6 engine is amazing and it will definitely be my next purchase. Not as much wind protection as the Vision but i suppose aftermarket add-ons can fix that. Take one for a test ride, you will be hooked! Greetings from Montréal, Québec. 🖖
