$500 man alive what a deal!! I love this video and that bike!! Thanks for the great video and keep.making more!
Thanks! Will do!
Well done! She's an absolute beauty! Enjoy many miles of smiles on her.
Thanks
500$ an SE 1500, And it is in very good condition, we would never find that Around here..
I had a friend that bought a goldwing brand new in the 70's . He rode it one summer then bought a Harley . I asked him why ? He said the goldwing was so smooth he would nearly fall asleep on it . That won't happen on a Harley lol
My buddy said the same thing the first time he rode it...he asked "How do you stay awake...it's so smooth"
I told him he had to have a Red Bull before riding it :)

Congratulations on the build. As much as the project was exciting, now the real fun begins!!! Enjoy the Wing, it looks great. 30 years young!! 🇨🇦
I just took it on a 4,000km trip to Powell river. It performed amazing!
😂
My buddy has an 07 wing. Looks like brand new. He bought a used 17 super 10 last year. Now he has the best of both worlds. I love my 2012 tenere . I’ll keep it forever. Best bike I’ve ever owned.
I love my Super T as well

Sounds really good, this old mistress is still the Queen of the roads, happy for you ❤
Thank you very much!
That is nothing like a Civic motor at all.
I know it's not a civic motor....I guess I didn't use enough sarcasm in my voice 😁.
I was jokingly referring that when you look at the gauges, large car size mirrors, incredible smooth motor and the loudest motorcycle horn I've ever heard, that people may think its a Civic.
Thanks for keeping me honest.
Ride safe.
The Civic hasn't a flat four motor .
Honda Civic is not even the last thing I'm thinking, lol.
Way cool bike.
@@horstd.engart9362 actually it has a 6 cylinder motor!
Goldwing is the best value bike in the world. You can pick up a 1989 GL1500 in brilliant condition for $4-5k. Hands down, nothing beats a used classic GW when you look at what your money gets you. You get a bike that you can not only ride halfway across the world in one go without getting fatigued, but it rides like an absolute dream.
Couldn't agree more!
Awesome job, the bike looks fabulous for the age and the miles. I just joined the Goldwing club with a 23 DCT Tourer. Love it
Thanks
How do you like the new Goldwing?
I have a 98 Wing and last year I met a man with a 93 Wing with 377,000 miles on it and it still looked good.
They do run forever
Yeah,150,000 miles Is nothing for a wing.
Yes the kill switch has had me buffaloed once too almost to the point of calling a tow truck until i figured it out! You did good price wise!
Thanks, My wife and I are loving the bike.
We did a weekend trip to Jasper , AB last summer and loved it. She said the bike is very comfortable.
Looking forward to a longer trip this summer with my wife.
Ride safe
Great video!! I had a 1999 Goldwing what was given to me cause it didn't run. After a little work I put over 70k miles on it. I sold it to my brother when I bought a 2009 Goldwing, that I still have and living in Georgia I can ride year round.
Love my Goldwing!!
Thanks.
Only 4 more months till we can ride again :(
Ride safe.
How do the gear ratios compare between the GL1500 and the newer 5th generation GL1800 that you bought? I absolutely hate how "low" geared all the Japanese bikes are, they seem to want people to drive at 4,000 rpms at 70mph. I know that in all the years I've ridden, I've never seen a Japanese bike that had a proper final drive gear ratio.
Have same bike as you. They are amazing machines. The cruise control is a fairly easy fix to do. Enjoy your new bike!
Thanks
What is really impressive is that the bike has a trailer hitch. GWs had a problem years ago with the final drives while pulling trailers. Just as with the early alternators when owners would light the GW up, Honda responded to the rider's inputs for improvements.
The previous owner pulled a trailer for about 180,000 km before he stopped riding and never had a problem.
I have never pulled a trailer with a motorcycle , but I look forward to trying it.
I just got the parts to service the trailer so I will be using it this summer of 2022.
Just about all the GL1500 alternators go bad around 75000 miles almost like clockwork. Luckily, it's only about an one hour job to change out compared to the 1100-1200s. The driveshafts usually quit around 125000 miles, you can pick these up cheap from people that Trike them. They are super reliable bikes with just a little care.
That is a great deal you made for the goldwing. A few years back I bought an 84 for $900.00 that needed a stator. Unfortunately I neglected to replace the timing belts at the same time. A belt broke and I ended up with bent valves lessen learned. Ride safe cheers
Thanks.
Sorry to hear about the bent valves
Lesson. Not lessen. You're welcome.
Great video. Love that color on the Gl1500. I had a 90 Gl1500 I restored, but sold last year for someone else to enjoy. I just did about same thing with a 98 Gl1500. I need to put the radio back in, and test drive it yet. Last thing I like to do is rebuild the front shocks. I ride a 06 GL1800, but I will always have the GL1500 for a back up, if I have to do some thing to the other bike. I like seeing people restoring these great touring motorcycles. Enjoyed your video and your bike looks fantastic.
Thanks.
This spring I will be replacing the front suspension with Progressive springs, replacing the instrument bulbs, making the cornering lights LED driving lights and getting the trailer on the road. More videos to come.
Ride safe
WoW!!! Came across your video.
Outstanding!
Owned several Hondas...from 160 Scrambler to 1100 Sabre..
I just purchased a 91 Interstate off Ebay 6 days ago $2100 US . 58,000 mi. Inspected it rode it 10 miles and rode it home 740 miles.. 1 day 225 mile 515 the next . My turn to clean it up ..Its my first Touring bike .and its really impressive...Bike had tune up, fluids changed and 2 new tires prior to purchase. I'm happy ..
BTW I'm 72 years young.
Bought the bike to rekindle my lost youth....
Bahaha... Bahaha..
"Good Weather and Smooth Roads to ya"
Sounds like a great bike!
Enjoy and ride safe
Beautiful motorcycle
Thanks
love the engine sound a piece of art.
It is amazing
At 237,000 klm it's officially run in , you can open it up now,
Oh I have....still an impressive motorcycle after 250,000km

Beautifull ride have a great time on it
quiet riot and a smooth grandpa bike , great deal
These old classic GoldWings are going to be worth a fortune someday.
It will likely still be running in another 30 years :)
Congrats, I bough my 1988 GL1500 for $250, with 97k.. love mine, she's got some broken plastic here and there, but run's awesome!!
well worth the $500 !!
Very cool, enjoy and ride safe
How can you get such a ride for so cheap, here (Italy) those bikes are ranging between 2-10K of euros accordingly to condition s, mostly rough conditions since the abuse you put on your vehicle in old, crowded cities like main
I used to ride one like that back in the day. It was a fuel injected Anniversary edition in mint condition with very few miles. That thing was like a rocket compared to the Harley Electra Glide I also rode. Stereo was much nicer. However I still always wanted to drive the Harley more for some reason. Man I wish I had that Honda today. After seeing rest of video I think that is the same model he had. I think it had 20k miles on it when he sold it
Thanks for sharing
Sounds like an awesome motorcycle
Ride safe
This thing is a spaceship what a beast and wow the smoothness in just 5 grand almost. Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰
Thanks so much.
🤤🤤🤤 this is the one I grew up on. Same age as me. Many miles together with dad.
That is a perfect example of a GL1500. I loved mine for 13 yrs and it was the best bike I have ever owned. I do like my 1800 but not like the 1500. The cruise is probably the cables out of adjustment. I did have a clutch switch that was not operating properly once that messed up my cruise. Check the micro switches first.
I will, thanks
I own a same color 10 year anniversary GL1200 Limited
Gorgeous bike!!!
Let us know if you figured out the cruise control issue.
Mine does the same: turns on but does not engage…
Enjoy 🍻
@@BlazinBlades
I think the problem is the aftermarket brake lever the previous owner put on. It does not depress both micro-switches properly so the cruise can't engage.
I bought some new OEM levers which will hopefully correct the problem.
I can't wait for next summer 😁.
Just got the same bike with 52,000km's for under $2.700.
That bike is beautiful
If I lived in Canada, I would stop by to buy it! What a perfect bike!
Everything is for sale for the right price and it could be delivered to any boarder crossing 😁
Great effort restoring that beast. Wish I had the space to give it a go. You guys in the states are lucky ha.
Were pretty lucky in Canada too :)
I just picked up a 1985 LTD 10th anniversary Goldwing with 53,000 km's. I'm on Van Island. I'm so happy it's goofy.
Sounds awesome. Sounds like your ready for a trip

There are only a few engines in the world that have perfect balance: Straight 6 cylinder engines, boxer 6 cylinder engines, straight 8, V12 and V16, and nothing else. That's why it's so smooth. The boxer 6 cylinder is one of the rare "magic" engines with perfect balance, like the CBX1100. A flat 4 cylinder twists inside the engine bay and you can watch it dancing around on Subarus. The other interesting thing about a "boxer" engine is that you need very little counterweight on the crankshaft, so the crankshaft can be made much lighter than a regular inline engine, making the motor shorter, and lighter, and faster revving.
Very cool to know, thanks
And yet they put 10kg flywheel on gt86 and she revs like diesel truck 😂
progressive shocks are great, used on my leaking 1982 Goldwing.
The ride is really nice
These are the best most reliable bikes especially for the money.
I’m not into those bikes but if you’d told me that it was that old and had that many miles on it I would never have believed you.
Fantastic condition considering and a good score for $500.
Can’t go wrong for that money, you’d sell it for parts for more than that.
It runs like a new bike and I put 13,000 more km on it last year
Ride safe
I’m not a cruiser guy but man these bikes are just so bad ass looking.
Thanks
They do look good
Really nice bike.Edit, thats an awesome bike, you will definitely not be disappointed at all. Top of the line lux. Cool.
I think so too!
You got that for $500Can??? What a steal. My’89 has 170k miles and I’ll never get rid of it!!! Just rode from New Mexico to Edmonton, and back and never doubted the Wing for a moment.
Yes, I got the bike and color matched trailer for $500.
I can't wait to do a really long trip on it once I fix my turn signal problems
Ride safe
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing : ) I LOVE that color and have been looking for a few years for one. I have a Pearl Sparking Blue 1996. My cruise control did the same thing and it ended up being the switch on the rear master cylinder. So if you monkeyed with that at all I would start there. Having cruise control is AMAZING. It's well worth the trouble to fix it. I bypassed mine in the harness under the seat because getting to the switch is a nightmare.
I'll try that, thanks
This GW´s were build to last. Amazing how it look with that millage and 30yo!
It literally rides (feels) like a new bike.
Watching the coin balance just instantly made me think "It's a Honda!" 👍🏽
Hard to do that on any other bike
Ride safe
Beautiful bike she is the queen Mary of bikes
Thanks, I love the way it turned out
for that money there are hundreds of motorcycles available 20 years newer....but i am glad you are happy!
For me it was all about learning how a motorcycle actually worked and doing most of the work myself.
Priceless :)
Ride safe.
@@highmilagerider1154 no better reason to do it!
This is my dream bike, I am going to buy next year

That bike is incredible. Great find!

Very lucky Man and the bike is what i am looking for in the UK ,,,,,,maybe one day friend ? Enjoy,,,
Best of luck!
Well done great deal
I’ve got that exact trailer. Haven’t pulled it in 22 years.
It works really well
@@highmilagerider1154 Oh yeah, I know. I bought my first trailer in 1980. Pulled it to the West Coast and back without a license plate. No one knew if they even needed tags back then.
Nice ..absolutely well done.. safe riding. God bless
Lovely bike, enjoy
I love my gold wing, it was a Cadillac on two wheels!
Yes they are

I just picked up an 84 Goldwing 500.00 with 19000 miles on it. Going to do the maintenance and Ride
What a great deal! Enjoy
i have the exact same bike no issues with mine Stay safe
Few things are as satisfying as restoring and old bike and bringing it back to life! Out of curiosity, how would you compare the super tenere’s suspension on softest setting compared to this goldwing sudpension in terms of comfort?
The Tenere is more comfortable in every way hands down.
Very nice bike it was loved 🥰
man i once hit my killswitch without realising. I don't even know how its possible, i didn't even have an excuse like you, i just subconsciously did it without any idea. Same thing, it probably took me half an hour to realise, super embarrassing
Luckily, I'm always being embarrassed by something or other. I'm used to it now
Ride safe
Love these old Goldwings, from the 80s,',swere the "Best looking" of them all. The later models
just looked too "Bloated" before this model, especially the latest 1800 model.
I agree that the 1500's are beautiful.
Wow what a bargain 🎉
It was a good deal
Beautiful bike i wish I could find a deal like this
Keep looking, their out there
Good luck
May God bless you on your journey
Thank you! You too!
Thanks so much for sharing!
Your welcome
I realize this video is 2yrs old but he spent 5k to get a 1991 Goldwing road worthy. For the same money I just bought a 14yrs newer 'ready to ride' 5th generation fuel injected Goldwing. Way less problems with fuel injection and a modern bike.
It was done as a first time restoration project. A project to learn how a motorcycle works and how to fix one. It was a lot of fun. And I sold it for what I had into it. So, I lost no money and learned a lot.
GW 1500's are awesome bikes. Well maintained they can go 500K miles. VERY well built machines, tons of low end torque, and smooth as silk.
It really is a great bike to ride
Looks Mint for its age 👍
Thanks
Great bikes
Nice Bike my friend!
Thanks! 👍
Awesome...congrats!
Thanks!!
Good looking bike!
I think so too!
Definitely not a Honda Covid motor lol. It’s a flat 6 boxer engine. If anything it’s closer to a subi or Porsche
It was meant with sarcasm, but glad you noticed

@@highmilagerider1154 hahaha being an auto tech I couldn’t help myself. Lmfao
I just picked up a 97' with 29K miles on it for $800. It too had been sitting for many years, but was in remarkable condition after some clean up. I didn't even clean the carbs and it runs great. I will however be rebuilding the rear brake master this coming weekend. Ride safe..
Sounds awesome.
Enjoy!
You said rebuilding rear master cylinder so casually, to get at it just dismantle the entire bike!
@@haroldpetersen5584
To true.
You have to just about dismantle the whole bike to do anything on it 😊.
This spring I'm taking apart the whole front of the bike to change the front springs to Progressive, New steering head bearings, New dash bulbs, new front speakers and replace the left stalk to get my signal switch working...wish me luck.
@@haroldpetersen5584 Everybody makes it out to be much harder than it really has to be. I made a video on how to simplify things.....ruclips.net/video/dNUzcWEaNdk/видео.html
@@highmilagerider1154 I've done it a couple times now and it's not that bad. Here's a video I made...ruclips.net/video/dNUzcWEaNdk/видео.html
Stay on top of fluid changes in that is easily a 500,000 mile bike.
That's what I've heard
Very nice job mate!
Thanks a lot!
Unbelievable , I'M Jealous .75 HRS CLEANING THE BIKE ,I understand that, It's nice to take pride in something. I laughed when I heard you say that, because it sounds like me. Why do something half assed Just on top of the motor had to be a bitch . GOOD LUCK. I've been watching BEARDS AND BIKES ON YOU TUBE . Another great show. TAKE CARE.
They are a great channel, I as well watch them.
Ride safe.
You may have gotten the cruise working by now, but if you didn’t I noticed there are aftermarket clutch and brake levers on it. Sometimes they don’t work well with the cruise. They do match up with the stock sensors switches. I had that with my 1500 and when I put the stock levers on, they worked again.
Thanks for the advise.
I changes the levers back to OEM.
We will see what happens in the spring.
Ride safe.
no big deal on the total price. nice color
Agreed!
Usually it's one of the brake switches that are bad that prevents the cruise from engaging.
I will check it out. Thanks
essa moto envelheceu bem,bela maquina
Thanks so much
they are low revving nothing like a super bike when i had mine the first thing i played with when i got mine was the reverse ... and they dont like strong winds on the M2 coast bound early hours at 90 mph came to the medway bridge got caught by a cross wind and it took me 2 lanes to get back in control i shit my self but in winter its the walmest bike to ride
I agree about how it handles in the wind. All that plastic makes it a sail in the wind. I'm glad you weren't hurt. Ride safe.
How does anyone buy a used Goldwing in that kind of shape for $500.00, amazing.
I did get lucky
Best bike.
Gold wings are great bikes they are quiet there good on the road and they’re comfortable
I totally agree
Varey Good ,you Axilland Man to Vari ByuotfiL Bik
What a bargain.
Thanks
Never knew they made Civics with 6 cylinder boxer engines??? 🤔
"Run for cover" was the track from Quiet Riot? How cool to find such a tape in :)

This model didn't have a CB unfortunately
If that's your first goldwing I used to have a goldwing I love to go wings when you put them on a back into the goldwing a trailer it'll pull it like there's nothing behind it I write a 2,000 for 1700 roadstar it will pull a trailer real good Don Ashburn from Tucson said that
I don't even notice my trailer when I pull it behind the Goldwing.
The 1700 Roadstar is a great motorcycle.

It is only a $500.00 bike if that is what you would sell it for right now. Lots of time, and money went into making it a great running Gold Wing.
$6,000 put into the bike and trailer + hundreds of hours wrenching. If I sell it , it would be for $6,000.

Great Deal! Congratulations! Would you recommend this motorcycle for a beginner rider?
Probably not, only because its very heavy for low speed maneuvers if you don't have experience

240k kilometers, wow that’s amazing. Can I ask what that might be in miles?
About 150,000 miles.

I have the exact same bike, same colour, Anniversary Edition, absolutely love it. My last bike was a dirt bike and that was several years ago so it took me a little while to get use to the size and weight, wouldn't trade it for anything now. Just wondering if you had any luck with the cruise control? I'm having the same problem.
Not so far. I believe it is likely either a faulty front brake sensor or rear brake sensor. I will continue to diagnose the problem this summer and let everyone know.
Ride safe
I had a 94 GL1500 Goldwing and the cruise control didn't work on it. The problem with mine was a micro-switch on the clutch. There are two switches there on the clutch lever. One is for the cruise control and the other lets it start while in gear if the clutch is pulled in.
@@Bellboy40 Same problem I had with mine, someone had put chrome levers on it and they would not work the micro switch properly. With a little mod, I repaired the lever and never had any other problems with it.
Hi , but the Plate number and insurance is so Expensive for Motorcycles in Canada !
Some places in Canada are more expensive then others.
In Alberta it is very reasonable to insure a motorcycle
