Where did you get the spinnaker? How did you rig it? I’d watch a video just about that.

Unfortunately, I sold the potter and now having an Islander 36. But I bought the spinnaker from a guy named chip at quantum sails. If he is still active, this is his email. sailmakerchip@gmail.com. Regarding the rigging, I installed two cam cleats on each side of the boat near the back. I also installed fairleads for the tack from the bow pulpit leading back to the cockpit. It’s pretty easy. There are details on Judy B West Wight Potter site that were helpful. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

How fast does full throttle move your potter 19? Thank you

I can’t tell you exactly since I don’t have a knot meter but in calm water she probably goes about 6kts full throttle. Definitely not as much full throttle power as the 5hp tohatsu, but adequate. I generally only use the engine to dock or to motor sail to increase apparent wind when it’s calm. I generally avoid heavy winds and waves on the lake because my boat lift orientation is subject to crosswinds. So, I can’t comment on heavier weather performance but my opinion is it would struggle.

Hi what shaft length did you go with for the motor please? Thanks for sharing the video.

Yes, my pleasure! Thanks for the question. I have the long shaft length with this motor and it works out well. One issue is that because the motor is a bit lighter than the typical outboard, you really have to push down hard to submerge it all the way into the water with my outboard bracket. Probably something that is easily modified. I have since sold Potter and upgraded to a larger boat so the long shaft e-propulsion will be a dinghy motor from now on.
