These aren't necessarily the worst Kickstarters but they made me laugh in one way or the other.
Kickstarter used to be full of many dumb ideas, scams, and even drama. Kickstarter Crap was my all-time favorite series back in the day and I thought I'd go check out some crappy Kickstarters myself.
None of these appears to be scams but you can go check them out yourselves here:

@@Alderath989 I hate how I laughed at this
@@WickedWiz So is that a yes Mr Wizard Man?
@@Alderath989 that shit gon turn you into an 50 year old neckbeard lmao
Those Slidable covers are crap sadly . They break after a few days. All the time
Faux is pronounced like Foe, it means fake. This concludes my Ted Talk.
Fah-Ook
No it’s not, it’s pronounced Fah. I would know as i have native French speakers in my friend group and they roast me every time I say it as Foe lmao
@@lordtachanka903 Thats just literally wrong lmao, its possible that in 1 of ~30 dialects they pronounce it as Fa (which im pretty sure is not the case) but in Parisian French or "standard French" it's pronounced Foh and in English people usually say Foe. So I'm pretty sure your 'native' French friends cant speak French
That’s fox my friend

8:30 "The laptop, the latter tends to be big and quite heavy, why wouldn't it be light, thin and small enough to put in your pocket" *COUGH COUGH COUGH* you mean... like a smartphone?
7:32 they literally have a smartphone hooked up to the device which only makes your point 100x more funny
small tablet with a bluetooth keyboard. Can fit in a jacket pocket and heck it's cheaper than this dumb product.
@@Wabajak13 They were also those oversized smartphones that could fit in a pocket.
The idea would've been better if the creator had used those rubber keyboards you can fold.
Can you imagine a mass of 10 cyclists in their glowing yellow vests riding down the road together at night? It'd be surreal
“What is with all these glowing fucking lights, is this an SCP”
@Bruhus Maximus I thought you'd call cyclists, but I'm out of my element here.
Imagine bowling pins
the UFO has landed.
But yeah, just comply with laws and have lights.
That bicycle story got me in my feely feels. I want to benefit humanity and yes, I'm very thankful and honored to help develop such revolutionary technology.
Awh you worked on the Kickstarter? If so Im sorry things didn’t pan out. But the idea of updating safety gear like that is much needed. Cute cat btw :)
I imagine that the "no money invested" on that flap is because someone donated $1 USD and KS rounds projects down to the nearest dollar, thus... zero pounds.
"why wouldn't it be light, thin and small enough to put in your pocket ?" a cellphone. you mean a cellphone.
Do you know that your phone is considered a computer?
Wanna know a little secret. A small computer that fits in your pocket has been around for a while.
It's called a smart phone and it doesnt need a lazer keyboard...
For the glow in the dark vest... Isn't that the same safety vest that construction worker usually wear at night?
With a flashlight someone turned on in it's pocket, yes.
The flashlight is not powerful enough: be real you may burn the eyes and cars don't keep the necessary distance of 2m to overtake you if there is traffic and they had to slow don't instead of overtake you with 20cm distance. It's not they don't see the bikes, they don't want to see them if they had to slow down.
@@losttownstreet3409 what?
Yeah, it's definitely one of those ideas that seem practical, but end up becoming extremely redundant.
@@losttownstreet3409 any sort of light source makes the bike visible much further in the night, even half a watt.
not that you need a kickstarter for it and in many countries it's technically illegal to drive a bike in the dark without a light.
The idiotic part of the Phrism thing is... they demonstrated it by plugging it into an android phone. You know.. something that lives in your pocket, already has a screen and a (virtual) keyboard that works..!? what on earth is the point of this thing lol
nvm the Phrism, I want to know about the Knäckebrotsäge!
5:39 They clearly meant something like "We will thank you very much" but I like the alternate universe in which that smiley at the end is meant to be threatening
💀💀
Another flaw with this "futuristic" PC is that its basically a beamer with a laser keyboard. Ever used a beamer outside? Or against a non white wall? Add to that the fact that the wall better be even so there are no artifacts in the picture. Oh and obviously you need a flat ground for the laser keyboard. So they made a worse laptop trying to improve the laptop. They decreased portability to increase portability.
If you place the Phrism on the top of your laptop lid you'll have a nice surface to use for the laser keyboard. Simples.
They decreased portability to decrease size.
This could be something had it been developed by a giant company, but as it is it is really a limited compromise.
it has 2 problems, typing on them sucks dogsh*t even in perfect conditions and cheapo projectors suck. no wait 3 problems, the third problem is that it's literally buying shit off the shelf you could have your own version of this by just buying a pocket mini projector with built in android and buying a laser bluetooth keyboard used from ebay.
Just replace the beamer with a small display attached to the front of the PC and make it a touch screen to improve upon the laser keyboard and we could have a pretty cool invention at our hand...
"you will be very thankful :)"
The audacity is actually very endearing, I won't fund it but... That's really something.
You WILL give one to everyone in your family...
We made a laptop that is more portable by severely restricting the places you could use it…
Like for real you can’t use this in places like a coffee shop or really any public place. You can’t use it outside. You need a table and a nearby flat white wall, which also means you can’t use it in a classroom either. Like it’s completely unusable in every place you’d use a laptop
On top that, wouldn't the specs also be kinda terrible? I would imagine that the actual PC part is a Rapsberry pi with a powerbank as electricity supply, and I'm pretty sure that this wouldn't even make for a medium good PC for doing most thing's
@@hanneswiggenhorn2023 Yea, more than likely, (particularly at that price point), it'd be little more than some basic stuff to where you could run MS Word or your internet browser and little else. Which is particularly dumb since there's so many issues with using a laser keyboard that you wouldn't even be able to really use Word.
Basically all the actual functionality you'd use it for, you can do better with the smartphone you already have, with at worse a bluetooth keyboard hooked up. Particularly since you can get foldable mini-keyboards that work pretty well for fairly cheap. It'd be about the same bulk all in all, but with the only "downside" being a smaller screen that you can use everywhere.
"I don't know what Xiaomi is" - WickedWiz 2021
imagine trying to play a videogame that uses WASD on that keyboard, not being able to properly hit buttons behind ur finger
I don't think you'd be able to use all your fingers to type either, because if you rest them on the keyboard it will be considered a keystroke right?
@@JonatasAdoM the sw on them can work some of that out. the problem is that they still suck. like imagine a keyboard that's like an atari 400 keyboard, only worse. imagine a keyboard on an ipad and using that for playing a wasd game or blind typing on it.
8:30 Netbooks, anyone? They are literally tiny underpowered laptops! It's the same thing as the product pitched, but better!
Ultrabooks, netbooks, chromebooks. Pretty sure this product type has been, and will continue to be, thoroughly explored.
Welcome to Kickstarter, where the wheel gets reinvented.
"I want a tiny computer the size of a phone"
get either a phone. or a 13 inch ultrabook.
My dad made a vest like that for himself by putting smallish lights along with reflectors on a jacket with a battery pack inside. He is mostly cycling in the dark on shitty Streets with low visibility so his self made jacket is a game changer.
5:25 Pretty sure having front and rear bike lights is required by law.
It depends on where you are. In the UK and North America, yes it’s illegal to take your bike on a public road without lights. But the dudes who made the “product” live in Spain, so it might be different
I used to spend days looking at shitty Kickstarters and gofundmes 😂 Nice video Wiz
If I tried to use the smart flap on my laptop to open it, I think the hinges would break. Seriously those things are tight.
8:30 A smart phone? I remember having one of those way back in 2017.
With the smart flap I can see testing the water before producing the thing, but for 2k you might as well just go for it.
I hear you on the backpack. My backpack is basically an extension of my body with how often i have used it. Love the vid Wiz!
When mentioning the first thing where an established brand runs a kickstarter to fund a new product, I've noticed this sort of thing being really common in tabletop RPGs. Companies with established product lines will crowdfund not only to start new product lines, but just to produce new books in the same line. I guess it has something to do with ensuring they don't have to charge an unreasonable price for the books since they'll be sold among a much narrower audience.
it's basically preorder, but somehow with less consumer rights than a preorder and possibility to get more publicity than a preorder.
on the other hand it's a way for a company to say that look, if there's this many people who want it then we'll sell it, while in a preorder they would be already committed to it.
Bro! I would love to see you do one of these on bad film kickstarters. I think videos like this are so awesome for case studies. If you wanna learn how to do something right, it's always the best to study why something is bad. Love your channel.
10:40 Seriously. That Kickstarter must be a joke. There is no way someone could say that in their Sales Pitch with a serious face
For the last one I was literally thinking you could build one rn with parts from ali express and then the creator just admits that's how they did it
Same, I imagined you could just tape a Raspberry to a powerbank, add a laser keyboard and a beamer and you would have something like this, probably even cheaper
Laptops are too heavy and bulky?
Uh... Macbook Air, Dell XPS, literally just smartphones... I think all of those would be more powerful and practical than a raspberry pi in a 3D printed box
I have never seen a good laser keyboard. I suppose you could make one good if you spent extra money and had more laser projectors.
I will tickle your chin, wizard

I love the "When your developing tech it isn't that much" I bet that future pocket computer is already for sale on wish and this guy is just gonna drop ship a bunch of them.
Yeah, the KS is to fund buying a whole pallet of them. :)
It's essentially strapping a projector and a laser keyboard together, I bet the only original part here is the case
I love absolutely useless inventions that are easily replaced by my fingers and 2 brain cells rubbing together.
Hey! You got a body after all!
I mean, its a stick figure body, but still!
That's what the Phrisms does to you.
I wonder what those backers thought before investing on these products…
You are so underrated, hilarious content man
Cheers dude
@@WickedWiz cheers to you too mate, hope your channel blows up soon, you got some very cheeky commentary lol
Interesting note, on many thun laptops they will invalidate your warranty if you open your laptop from the center as it puts more pressure on the screen and makes it more likely to bend and snap.
Canadian rubels and American freedom eagles are not the same currency and do not exchange 1:1. So that's probably why the prices on the website differ from the ones in the transcript
"YOU will be grateful"
Take it easy there Genghis Khan
if the smart flap designs was to still look like a webcam so I could trick my work into thinking my webcam was just broken, I'd back to the two grand
Actually, the "you can hold the future in your hands for $249" in the Phrism thing was correct. The mistake you made here is that their transcript was talking USD while the pledges talked Canadian Dollars. Why? I have not the slighest clue. But if you look it up, it checks out.
They're a thing that everyone has now that is a small computer and can be placed in the pocket. It is called a Phone. You have accessories and better quality audio. HD picture, high-end hardware, have a camera. and even have the ability to call, text, and used data.
In my country a bicycle has to be equipped with a headlight, tail-light, and some mean of accustic signaling in order to be street-legal at all.
Not sure weather reflectors are still mandatory but many tires allready reflect on their own.

Amazing to see all these "solutions" in need of problems. Whenever I see a portable device with a projector, my first question is always "How many minutes until the battery is dead?" The webcam cover? Perfect place to keep a microfiber cloth to clean its lens. As for the bike safety, I spent $30 a few years back to get a set of USB-chargeable lights where motorists will be able to tell which way I'm riding, and will also light-up the road ahead of me.
Do more of this please. Your presentation is always great!
Wow the more you reposition it the stickier it gets :O
Also faux is pronounced fough ha
Idk why but I lost it when the little gremlin appeared behind his computer tower in one frame
Phrism is a whimsical idea, I like the creator's gumption. My daily kit 1-ups it though: my smartphone + a folding Bluetooth keyboard, which itself has a fold-out phone-stand. The keys are scissor-lock with just enough travel and weight to feel comfortable, and there's a trackpad. If I want a larger screen I can bring my tablet but the phone's usually enough for drafting lesson plans and student worksheets. It's too bad laser keyboards aren't better than they are though, I used to be really into those in the aughties.
Pretty sure the light up vest wouldn't be enough for a lot of countries legal requirements when cycling. It is actually illegal in most countries to ride without lights on your bike.
pretty sure any of these would fly off the shelves if you slap "SUPREME" on them in big white letters and a red background.
🤣🤣🤣
Phrism basically combines the downside of laptops (needing a surface to put it on) with the downside of smartphones (no ability to touch type) with the additional downside of also needing a wall to project the screen onto.
And I can guarantee that a phone with a projector and laser keyboard will not give "the same feeling as my old laptop"
4:15 i dont think ive laughed that hard in a while, the best sentence ive heard to date lol
I love how you have to balance that weird computer.
What a wicked Laptop alternative. It's got all the downsides of a Laptop with none of the benefits!
I think the security vest one is talking about how reflective vests are only visible in headlights when the lights are shining on the vest. Going too fast, a car could miss them and only see them at the last second.
A self-illuminating vest means they would be seen regardless of whether or not a light is shining on them.
ah the og series is back
A buddy of mine had one of the original kickstarter laser keyboards (the name escapes me). The thing was godawful, imagine typing on a touchscreen, but you can barely see the keys and half of your inputs get dropped or register the wrong spot.
8:38 i can feel how frustrated Wiz are from his voice XD
Ali express is an online Chinese market. Used mostly for bulk sourcing of electronics to drop shipped goods
Webcam protector! Those already exist...
A vest that shines in the dark to prevent traffic accidents! Those ALREADY exist... like way long ago.
A miniature computer that fits in your pocket! Like a smarthpho... GADAMIT!
About the light-up vest... Cars driving at night will (most of the time, barring stupid drivers) have their headlights on. A basic high-vis vest will reflect that light. That... Is literally the entire point of them.
Please continue this series lol
Literally everyone has had a computer small enough to fit in their pocket for the last 10 years
there are literally tiny laptops that exist that work like real laptops, just get one of those instead of a glorified projector with some cool lasers.
RUclips needs to give you the algorithm numb already. Your too talented to not have a higher view count
"If you can't create a solution, fabricate a problem."

4:23 Really hits close to my heart tbh
Nice Idubbbz mention at the beginning x
i was only shown this tuck bike thing for like 3 seconds but it reminds me of transformers and i think it's sick that the wheel just kinda folds in. I hope they make it for bmx next.
for the laptop flaps, it might be a way to test popularity before heavier investing... idk its does seem kinda crazy to just ask for 2k
Why would you even need to test something? The material cost of those things is near zero. For 100 € you could produce thousands of them.
wow, selling a piece of tape.....

the way Wiz said aliexpress was very interesting to me. I've only heard ally express but they said alexy press
That yellow vest is the same vest for construction workers and crossing guards.
A laptop, I can put in my pocket. So.... A smartphone?
Is a laptop truly bigger though? Both projectors (keyboard and screen) need a minimum projection distance. When I see the example that was filmed in the darkly lit room, the required space to correctly project both things, seemed bigger to me than a small touchscreen laptop would ever take up. There are Laptop/Pad hybrids which can be folded and take up even less space. I dont see any benefit of this whatsoever. There is a reason we dont just project movies onto walls. Their reflective index sucks and walls have blemishes which warp the whole projection.
You know what they call a light and small laptop that you can put in your pockets? A Smartphone
This video highlights an ongoing issue that isn't often spoken about. The issue is the rise of products that are seemingly designed for nobody. Everything has to be as tiny and portable as possible - this comes first before making an actual good product.
Hotdog on Kickstarter was a good one.
Can we talking about “black faulks leather” 😂
Aren't those yellow vests already available? Public workers around here have been using them for years wth. There's even a duct tape version you can put on your stuff to make it reflective.
At first I thought idubbz was starting "kickstarter crap" back up again.
This should have more views.
THe funny thing about that lightning vest is that it has reflective light straps so when light is shined on it it is designed to light up when light is refracted on the yellow vest LMFAOOO
Commenting to help with the algorithm
one point you missed about the phrism is battery life, the battery would be powering the projector, computer, wifi, and the lazer keyboard, i cant imagine it lasting that long.
Doing what Idubbbz won't
