I played a souls-like for the first in the Worst Game On Steam series called Dark Days : Devil Hunt. This game in a nutshell is cursed, funny but cursed as hell. This is only season 1 of Dark Days : Devil Hunt and previously there was the equally as jank Prologue.
Regardless of if it has the Souls-Like tag or not, this game at one point definitely gained some inspiration from the souls series. Although it wasn't shown much in the video, the Dark Days : Devil Hunt Prologue at least feels more like it.
For the price it's not too bad seeing as there is a free demo which will give a good idea about the game well before you put any money down.

@@eetuthereindeer6671 an "asset flip" is a game that uses assets not made by the developer itself. Oftentimes quick cashgrabs.
The constant subconscious vibe of this game is 'AI-generated'. The storytelling, the landscape, the voice acting...
The voice acting is definitely AI, the weird fluctuation of the delivery just reeks of AI

Mr. Wizard is stuck in real life version of Portal, going through increasingly insane AI generated trials.
Hope he at least gets some cake.

I feel like ai succeeds at one thing and that is - showing the shortcomings of someone who is not creative or doesn't want to make something themselves cause learning a skill is too hard i guess so they take a shortcut, but the problem is they learn absolutely nothing and the result is worse than if they simply failed at least trying, but still learned something new in the process.
@@regularbloke2117I say just regular text to speech with some voice filters put over it, doesn't have that static (?) that AI voices tend to have.
The combat in this game is literally just, "Cause the enemy to have an epileptic seizure and die".
That magic just being massive explosions that completely block player view and turn the screen a solid color for 40 seconds, it's just good game design.
Fun fact, the melee damage in this game is calculated *per click*, not *per hit*. So you can actually do a bunch of damage in a single swing animation by just spamming the click or using an auto-clicker.

It's a vessel for Azazil's power that's being recalled now that he's awakened once more. Immunity to fire? Absolutely calm while being flown off by a demon? Surviving that fall and toddling off?
That's a vaguely salient magical nuke with planted memories.

What is even more cursed is that you were able to replicate the broken english from the game.
Harry is terrifying. I think he has to keep moving due to his big head for keeping his counterbalance. :P

You know, I think I know what's happening. The kid is told to go to the player's position. That is the center of the player. However the kid can't get the that position in the world because the player's physics collider is in the way. The collider is almost always a smooth capsule that doesn't get stuck easily. It is very easy to set a target NEAR the player (usually behind) for the NPC to go to. But whoever made this is a lazy idiot and told the son the bury itself in the player's ribcage instead. It can't, so the physics engine makes it slide around the slippery capsule of the player while the navmesh looks for better paths to fuse with the player.
I loved how the dev had that Witcher sorcerer character in there, but seemed to assume that because the character had long hair that it was a woman, and gave him a woman's voice when attacking.
I thought that was the demon making that noise
On the other hand, they did name him Robert... It's some next-level logic

I think the zweihänder was there for test runs. They gave themselves an op weapon to be able to blast through the game ‘testing’ and forgot to remove it.
I was so distracted by the main character's annoying hair. I desperately wanted to force him to drag a comb through it!!! What the heck is going on with that hair? And that kid.... HAHA!! The dev obviously bought a "Baby" asset pack and stuck hair and clothes on him, and then scaled his size up to be the size of a 12 year old. Haha!! Because of that scaling, the kid's head was twice the size of his dad's head, while his limbs were teeny! Haha! There was definitely something wrong with this guy's kid. The kid's mom had to have been a looker.

I must surprisingly say that the intro is actually absolutely great in setting very weird dream-like atmoshpere. The text to speech voice of the child is just so so creepy and it really feels ominous. The furniture being turn to the wrong side also gives a weird uncanny valley feeling. Big shame that it's well not intentional haha
Oh, of course the main character is called "Ares" and he has a son and it all takes place in a snowy environment. Even for this kind of game, I feel like that's a bit on the nose about the God of War reference hahaha. I guess they could take Ares since it's public domain, unlike Kratos.
Kratos already exists in greek mythology, so they probably only chose Ares because they thought people would think it is different to God of War.

No one ever remembers Mars for some reason, even though that guy's the one with all the lore. All Ares has is "uh so he was chained a lot and he's generally a loser".

@@alastor8091 That was the fight with Poseidon's renegade sons Otus and Ephialtes. And to be fair, they gave everybody a run for their money while on the offensive and I think had something going on where others couldn't harm them. They were ultimately beaten via Artemis shapeshifting into a deer and pulling off a brilliant example of deadly dodging that got them to kill each other.
Ares was definitely something of a fair-weather fighter. He was fierce and powerful on the field, but if someone actually managed to rough him up - as happened in the siege of Troy, I think it was Odysseus' handiwork - he got absolutely tilted over it and couldn't deal.

I don't know if Wiz meant to sound disappointed that his son wasn't flammable, but he did, and it was very funny.
This whole game literally feels like someone fed an ai the prompt of "Make a game that'll be popular", and fed the ai all of the best selling games of the last decade or so, and this was the result. Its fucking uncanney.
Forget Elden Ring, THIS is the ultimate souls game.

Honestly I think the reason they put that trigger box there at the end is because they didn't know how to trigger loading into a different area without having the player run into a trigger box (which ofc didn't need to be textured and could have been placed someplace the player couldn't reach). But they also wanted you to see that 2 second cutscene of looking at this guy before. So they had you go to the place the cat led you to, so you can look at the guy and then they teleported the player into the trigger. That's my guess at least

It definitely feels like ChatGPT wrote the dialogue and a very early ElevenLabs TTS voice read it.

Yup and it shows very hard. If they didn't use ai at least they would be justified to say they at least tried. This completely removes that excuse now.

30:00 This part reminds me of a small section in Deadly Premonition 1. The game wants you to follow a dog, through multiple rooms. However, there is a blood trail that leads to the correct door, but you have to wait for the dog go to the door to trigger a short cutscene and it takes awhile for each room.

I love the frequent ambient background noise of subway train breaks squealing. Gets me super immersed. That's what it sounds like to me, anyway.

The starting building having all the firniture backwards is all i need to confirm the dev lives in some type of mirror dimension and is trying to drag peoples souls in with him.
The "minimap" being just the camera at a weird top down view with an arrow over your character is quite possibly one of the laziest "creative" things I've seen in one of these games.
It's like someone dropped a rough Skyrim mod, it shattered into a million shards, & the dev just scooped up as much of the debris as possible, rolled packing tape around it a few times to hold it together, & stuck it back on the shelf.

To be fair, I understand why pretty much all of the weird glitches happen. From the procedurally generated houses that were not checked by a human afterwards, to the cylindrical distance LOD
