Hey, I enjoyed watching this gameplay. I was thinking, "Even though this game isn't perfect, a lot of the mechanics do work." You can tell this game was made with passion and effort. This is admirable.
it looks to me that the water is periodically generating a ripple anywhere it colides with an object, and when time slows down the ripples are still generated at the same rate despite the weapon wheel slowing down time. so basically it's just generating a ton of ripples on top of eachother while time is slowed down and when you close the weapon wheel you get that funky effect.
Yeah, it's completely unaffected by the time dilation and still building up energy at the normal rate, unlike the water surface animation, which lets each vertex/surface node/whatever build up energy faster than it is allowed to release that energy. When the button is released all that dammed up tension is let loose and it goes *sproing*. I am surprised that there were limits on how high the ripples could rise, I would have expected more of a violent tsunami effect given the other oddities in this game.
I always feel a really uncomfortable disconnect when a game has shaders and gameplay that come from different decades. It's like an uncanny valley thing, or at least something like it.

man the game's story is absolutely hilarious to me, so to find the treasure of mansa musa we go to find a map in ruins at mexico that leads to ruins in brazil that are "at least 1000 years old", the ancient Brazilian map takes us to ancient Egyptian ruins that also presumably have a 3rd map, all this to find the the treasure of a west african emperor who lived in the 1300s. Since you asked: I guess the water physics get turned off when you go on slow motion for the weapon wheel. When they get turned on again, they find those pillars there and activate the wave pattern animation. Either that or the calculations also get slowed down which end up with the same effect.
Ah, alright, I was wondering if all of these systems were original or not. If they were it'd be a pretty impressive set of mechanics for a small team like this.
@Joshua Avila yes and I think there are a few implementations! I say Mr whiz because he recently added car and the rope swing. I don't use but I know they made it. I remember back in my early days I was learning locomotion and came across it
Regards why that's happening with the water - when you open the weapon-wheel, the game speed as the CPU calculates it is dropped. The GPU has other ideas - it can be slightly tricky to have it scale time by precisely the same amount, because very small/very large numbers are difficult to handle (like the floating point error with the previous game). The water ripples are calculated on the GPU - so their speed becomes offset when gameplay is slowed down.

The funniest thing about this game is that it actively breaks the law by calling the guns their actual names without the permission of the manufacturers. AAA titles have to deal with these laws all the time. Call of Duty has had to make up fake gun names for recent installments because they couldn't get licensing for the use of their real names. And then here's Bad Way. A game that could be barred from sale if just one gun manufacturer can be bothered to sue.
My nerd ass kept thinking "why does this guy have to go to Brazil if he's looking for Mansa Musa's treasure? Why is the treasure in Egypt and not Mali?"
I'd assume the water wasn't properly taking into account the timescale and framerate for calculations. I used to have a similar issue with cloth simulation. So maybe the water was taking the timescale into consideration but not framerate... Timescale and framerate are different things, so water could gather force every frame, but apply it based on timescale, since the quickslot menu slows down time but not framerate. Basically, water creates ripples every frame, but since timescale is slow, it's creating massive amounts of ripples before the ripple effect has any chance to end properly. EDIT: The water makes it look like the framerate drops but the UI animation is still smooth, so that can confirm that the timescale and framerates are separate variables that weren't taken into consideration for the effect.

And then here's Bad Way. A game that could be barred from sale if just one gun manufacturer can be bothered to sue.
There's only 3 guarantees in life.
Death.
Taxes.
And Carlos's Men.
That same guitar lick being the only music is so funny. I want it to be the loading music of my life.
The dev just slept through an Unchartered 3 let's play and woke up with a "new" game idea
I stumbled upon your channel yesterday, and I must say, I love your worst game series ! thanks, looking forward to more !
21:17
This may be the best line delivery in any piece of media. I am moved.
Thank you for making all these bad game videos. You make even some of the worst games hilarious to watch. I look forward to all of these!
I love how the factory at 22:00 has warning signs in an Eastern Europe language (polish or czech I guess?), also reminds me of a similar level in a hentai game (might be the same store bought asset)
Yup, it's Polish
I love how the part of Brazil where the maps are marking are a desert like biome irl, yet the game claims that it's the Amazon Rainforest lmao
I love this series. You actually try the games and aren't just 'this game sux lol.'
Always bringing laughter from the horror of a game. Brilliant video showcase. I always look forward to these run-downs
These are all just Unreal Engine assets botched together btw. Don't be fooled to think the dev has actual game development skills. It really is a shame with all these asset-flips.
I think it's a Turkish "businessman" outsourcing all of the "work" to some sweatshops in Poland.
I love the idea of Mansa Musa, a Malian king, would, for some reason, have his riches dumped somewhere in Mexico.
Yeeeessssss thank you wiz for making my friday. It was a shitty week and i needed a laugh vid to get my morning going. U da best peep! Lol keep up the good vids Wiz
loved how egypt is right next door to brazil on that map transition
this game is held together with Scotch tape.. i love it
you *cannot* convince me that it wasn't entirely made by AI. the physics, the 'plot', the voice acting.. it has to all be AI
24:42 I like how the writing on the gate says "no parking". On a roof...
Also, the signs are all in Polish even though it 's supposed to be Mexico or something
okay, the level used after the character gets knocked out and kidnapped (at 22:32, for example) looked awfully familiar to me. then i realized i'd seen it before; it's literally the exact same map used for the 'factory' map in a game i love called prop and seek. more specifically, both games appear to use this free unreal engine asset pack: ruclips.net/video/BcSvcUjOTUQ/видео.html.
Thats kind of a given
For some reason I at first thought they were going for the guy from Burn Notice, just instead as your typical archeologist professor hunting down relics
This game looks perfect for the speedruns contests that Penguinz does.
And the voice acting and the cut scenes are amazing.
So wait, why are we running around in Mexico, Brazil, and Egypt looking for treasure from Mali?
The vibe I get here is, "A 14 year old whose first language is not english used a variety of AI generated assets, voice lines, and animations to produce an alpha early access game".
It's been a while since I watched one of your videos, but now that I have, I realize once again how underrated you are.
Finally, Uncharted 5
I love your content man I watch it while I'm developing my games xD
That cutscene though, I'm jealous 😂
honestly, I feel like the creator of this game needs a team and he can make a proper game. He shows so much promise, and not enough budget
Here is fun little game: drink every time when you hear "Carlos's men"
Thanks for video, Wicked Wiz!
Here within the first minute lmao. Cant wait to watch
3:18 I really like these ragdoll physics. They give me fall of Max Payne mixed with that hand grabbing simulator game vibes.
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I did unpaid work experience at Havok just when they were breaking big.
Moistcr1tikal needs to make a speedrunning contest for this game
It truly is a janky gem
That steam description sounds like the character did plan this adventure but wanted to sound cool so put that he didn't plan anything twice
*people showing up to the video as soon as it releases* "i really enjoyed the video and your cool yeah give me likes"
I've been sick all week so its lovely to see a new video from one of my favorite creators. thanks for making me slightly less miserable 👍
