I not only tried to find good games on steam but hidden gems that provide some kind of fun. Whether it be a master piece, a good laugh or something that has some potential.
Worst Game On Steam was a side series while working on What Went Wrong videos. I've always had nostalgia for some of the weirdest games. Many of the so called "Worst Game On Steam" videos featured games that I would consider hidden gems for all the wrong reasons. Some are the definition of it's so bad it's good.
But I've also found some amazingly underrated games that deserve some show and tell. So now, the goal is simple, I'm trying to find Good Games On Steam. - Игры
I’m convinced the guy who made Avium is actually a Kojima level genius who would produce critically hailed movie games if he was given a team and budget
This is true actually Avium was carzy
Avium is 100% a Kojima parody, old school MGS riffing all over... run the checklist:
"Cutscene, the game"? Check.
"Way too much dialogue to mash through"? Check.
"Tight combat mechanics when you actually get to play it"? Seems so.
"Encounters you can cheese mixed with encounters that kick your ass"? Seems how I remember MGS
"Female character subplot where she dies the first playthrough but you can save her in NG+"? 100% check
"4th wall breaking boss instructing the gamer how to solve an encounter"? Darkness is budget PsychoMantis.
If it was constructed this way intentionally then it's a masterpiece.... not one I'd want to play, but that doesn't detract from it... if it was constructed this way accidentally, cause someone took this as important bits of a Kojima game and laser focused on them, I'm terrified what they'll release next.
Cant believe that dude made awesome games like mgs and the dogshit that is death stranding. What a weird variety
@@devlintaylor9520 I think Kojima is an experimentalist film maker trapped in a video game factory. Like, that makes about as much sense as any other explanation, right?
he doesn't need the actors, just the VAs, the entire movie is made inside the game engine
"you think me a vile bastard for slaughtering those thirty-four women?" unironically had me on the floor
It sounded like Xavier renegade Angel dialogue
Shakespearian dialogue
I'm glad I wasn't the only one, lmao
That whole game was like if some recently played MGR and Anthem, and decided to make their own blend of the two.
@@lefteyereport6354 »THOSE women CLEARLY confused life and death when it came to the bargaining curriculum of deciding which fate to follow, but were left ass to grass when IT came to distinction » « The real question is, how could they HAVE the heart to chip my beautiful blayde ? »
@@Chubby_Lemon alas you had me cackling at the heart, thy ribs are bursting
B is the jump key because you go BOING
yes 👍
No, Boeing is the P key, and when you press it, Pieces of your character fly off.
@@childofcascadia 🤣
I thought it was cause you go bUp

I love how the game is showing you gameplay and not letting you play. That's downright hilarious lol.
Avium is a fever dream, we've all just imagined it.
It's like Horizon zero down. That was 15min cutscene from the start.
knock knock
@@marceelinothere wasn't any gameplay shown in a cutscene. or do you consider a baby being carried around as gameplay?
Who's there?
Thanks for covering Avium! This was unexpected. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience, despite its shortcomings. I'm also happy it gave some laughs with its satire and cringy jokes, lol.
A few bug fixes have been implemented since the gameplay shown, with more work to be done on the way.
I really appreciate and always welcome the feedback! Keep up the awesome work!
It’s one of those few games I’ll look back on with cursed nostalgia. On a serious note, I could see your positive intent and the amount of effort put into to it. Genuinely a hidden gem in its own right :)
From the video some of your gameplay looks actually revolutionary so please keep doin what you are doing.
bro your game feels like a high quality kojima-fied shitpost, might actually buy it when I have the money (and time to play it), for now just focus on polishing the combat a bit (what you have right now looks good just make it less buggy) and keep writing the story and dialogue the same way you've been doing, I see the potential here.
@ArchersVideo Thank you! I appreciate your support.
@Samuel_Williams Lol, a lot have been saying that. I did draw inspiration from his cutscenes, yes.
Will do. Bugs will be crushed. Anything in particular you'd want to see more of, I'll try my best to implement it.
To make and release a game is a massive feat, congrats and keep at it
My personal theory is that Avium is supposed to be a parody of AAA games, because it has a lot of elements of one:
- More cutscenes than gameplay (to the point where they use gameplay in the cutscenes)
- A massive open world that's really empty
- Lots of bugs (though all are minor and not game-breaking)
The disgusting and distracting UI also seems to play into it.
Also the random switches to text based was pretty funny
The game is so bad that it's good, Avium. Dialog written by English masters
It’s absolutely not
lol wiz says the same thing, did you watch the video ?
The first game had so much charm
And knowing that the developer is still updating the game I might buy it
The first one would actually be a big hit around the PS2 age... it is a decent game.
It’s got some MDickie vibes for sure
Apparently there's actually a pretty healthy speedrunning scene. I read something by the dev, I think he said people have it down to a couple of minutes already.
Avium has to be really deep satire.
You're onto something there.
It’s absolutely not
@@HCG my guy the comment above you is the guy who made the game...
The most accurate depiction of Aphrodite, most games don't do her thicc justice
Those poor 34 women...
You think him a monster.......
@@ThinkerOfThoughtsjust because he killed thirty four women……..oh and a child but the kid had it coming.
whoever made Avium is on that Metal Gear juice
they even have the codec in it and everything
With more than one perc thrown into the mix.
Avium is like if Wrench from Watch Dogs 2 made a game
LASAGNA!
Lmao Avium really going for that Hideo Kojima feel, it's more a movie than a game
Voice actors for avium hammed it all the way up and I love it
"Duuude, lasagnaaa" that's deep, man.
That was the least weird part about Avium: The Movie. I just took "lasagna" to be kitschy future slang.
Fun fact:
A key is a device that is used to operate a lock (such as to lock or unlock it).
@@Alfred-NeumanFunny enough, I read your comment at the same speed that he did at the same time. I thought my inner dialogue came out
Thanks so much for covering the game it means so much. Really glad you liked it!😃
The game looks sick!
After watching this video, I'm now interested in your game! Added to the wishlist, Im gonna buy it in the future!
@@FightikusThank you!
@@gamexokanbventAwesome, thanks so much!
Honestly, I'm not a fan of rogue like but it looked really fun to watch someone play! Hope some streamer will pick it up as it would be a good game to see some vtuber or streamer try to beat
That Avium game felt like a machinima rather than a game lmao
I'm not saying making these videos is easy, but at this point I'll watch any old game on the screen with Wiz's commentary.
Avium was insane, like it actually looks like one of those proper games that turns out to be a huge mess, if that makes any sense. It looks better and more full as a game than just some one guy indie project. But it's still hilarious jank. There's a flash in a cutscene at 23:24 that's literally what MGS4 did for backstory references, which is an impressive detail to add. Then the Netherworld is straight up Doom (2016)?? You have to admire how hard this guy is homaging his fav games.
RUclips seems to think it actually was Doom Eternal, heh.
lol yeah. for me it felt like a guy had a lot of money, so he bought a lot of stuff and had someone put it together but he was telling them what to do lol.
I also felt Arkham Knight vibes, the first(?) villain is very much like the Arkham Knekt
Avium man. 21:08 "Man there ain't no chocos up in this bitch?" Fucking took all of my oxygen. Almost died laughing.
watching the descent into insanity for the sixteen minutes of cutscene is KILLING me
If you're gonna take away one thing: A key is a device that's used to open a lock
instructions unclear, didnt explain what a lock is.
I was really, really hoping that game was going to be a full 3 hours of cutscenes and they didn't program any actual gameplay
The first one, while I think there should be a reliable way to get the minotaur off your tail if you just happen to bump into him, seems genuinely good. It looks appealing visually, they put thought into the map layout, and they successfully put a decent amount of variety into the gameplay with the weapons. That one in particular I could see people unironically playing for fun, which is more than you can say for most games on Steam. Congrats to the dev of Slay the Minotaur for making a good game! :)
39:30 Omg they wanted inventory item descriptions but just put a wikipedia or dictionary article for "key."
The page-long explanation of what a key is made me pause to laugh.
Oh, actually let me relay upon you something! This specific game was made on Unreal Engine 4 using the asset called “Horror Engine” which is pretty much a nearly fleshed out horror game where the dev just has to write the story itself, I know this because I made games using it, and the description for the key is just part of the core asset that the dev never bothered to change, lots of other assets have the same style in descriptions!
6 cutscenes in and im so obsessed with Avium already
They clearly wanted to make a film but did their best with this instead...god bless them, I hope the devs do well
I like the theory here in the comments (which the dev seems to be supporting) that it is a parody of the self-absorbed, empty, 'I'm 15 and this is deep' writing, unfinished and buggy AAAA gaming that produce this sort of thing without any hint of irony.
Oh thats an interesting theory, I love it
As a German the title "all goblin" and the overall aesthetic makes kinda sense, "All" in German is more ore less the same as "Weltall", which usually is translated into "space" or "outer space" so it makes sense that that goblin walks around in a techno infected dungeon, an abandoned asteroid mine kinda if you so will XD
I can see what you mean. From a Swedish perspective I would say it might be more of an "Everything goblin" though really 😂
I have absolutely no idea what is going on in avium
Thank you for playing and reviewing The Infirmity. Your comments are really important for me 👍
I had fun with it. There’s a good foundation deffo keep at it :)
Even aside from the thicc thumbnail bait the first game looks right up my alley. Kinda PS1 looks, plus I love Greek myth and aesthetics, plus retro media aesthetics. Def want to get it.
Did you ever think when you were playing avium that someone or something with infinite wisdom just knew everything you would do after the cutscenes 'ended' and made a cutscene that replicates everything you would have done?
Anthem at home looked really cool in some parts, like that city.
The OST doesn't sound half bad, either. Pretty sure it's just royalty free industrial music they found somewhere, but it could be worse.
@@Joomluh12 yeah. I don't know if they are all pre-built assets, but that city looked impressive. The flight looks cool, and the combat and the weapons also looked satisfying.
Man, aint no Chocos up in this bitch? Brotha got to get him some chocolate!
If he falls in the river in the underworld, does that mean he Styx the landing?
this joke needs more recognition
this joke needs less recognition
I remember finding avium devlogs during development, and back then, the world was way more dense with city models.
The devs are nice and take criticisms well. I'm glad their game made it on here
Every time I see that model of Sevarog from Paragon/Shaitan/This at 24:50, I crack up at how since they made those assets public, they've just appeared in every small weird indie game
Paragon was a real one 😿
Ah, Paragon. Gone too soon
That Aphrodite is straight up a Pixar MOMMY, 10/10 GAME
DUDE!
Is that Xavier: Renegade Angel as the weird brown bug looking mech guy in Avium??
I swear, that odd delivery and monotone, yet sing-song delivery...
It's gotta the Life Conundrumer, man!
The Soul Ponderer has returned.
WHAT DOTH LIFE??
Avium was like eye divine cybermancy, but at home lmao
The minotaur game definitely had some charm, and thick thighs save lives....
Avium is a reminder that while I personally want to make the next FF or MGS type game.... no one will tolerate my cutscenes
@@kenktheGD
Cutscenes are a poorly aged relic of game design imo. It was a "wow" factor thing to have the game story "Be just like a movie! And look at the graphics!" as a pre-rendered scene playing off a CD was a brand new novelty and now it's 20 years into being old hat.
You can have very plot dense and dialog beefy games without having them be the vehicle to deliver it, like disco elysium and during gameplay sections ala ace combat or armored core.
The scream when he pushed the kid off got me 🤣 been supporting since the early days always love your content
Makes a character named Berry, proceeds to get every movement powerup he can lol
Thought he was slick ⚡️
Can someone please explain why the sneak attack in Avium, why it can be described as 'fisting a man's ass at the speed of light and then slamming him into the ground?'
Don't forget the jetpack. It's like the actual parody jokes about stealth kills in games that make absurd amounts of noise.
That Aphrodite model is leagues better than the Aphrodite skin currently in Fortnite.
Really nice to see Wiz genuinely enjoy an experience like he did with the minotaur game. it seems genuinely enjoyable for a low tier "shitty" game
19:04
The little final fantasy style chime and the notification utterly pulling you out of the moment if there was a moment to be had
This is some primo satire
21:02
"its nothing personal kid"
21:03
"your locked in here with me!"
this shit has to be a weird metal gear parody
Aphrodite N64:

I think Avium is actually Chaser 2, it’s just the devs couldn’t secure the rights to the IP.
A sequel we did not deserve, but got anyway.
If the Avium guys could double down on madness and switch them gameplay cinematics with quick time events they could be the second game in whatever genre Asura's Wrath is in.
The second Wrathlike if you'd like.
A "being chased by a monster" game where you can train to beat the monster us kinda genious tbh. Has that been done before outside of this?
Avium Intro makes Kingdom Come intro and Tutorial look like a catwalk
Iam convinced Avium is a high Budget Satire for Triple A Games lmao
Everything about it is just so ridiculously Funny
Wohoo, he's alive

24:52 Shaytan has really had a profound impact on Wiz. The game scarred him for life.
17:53 "Alright, here's my first attempt at stealth."
* _executes very loud, very flashy set of moves_ *
Actually bought Slay the Minotaur while watching this. Good stuff bro
I was sold on the goblin game when it said Big Ass Tree
19:50 Imagine just standing around with a coworker and someone suddenly kills them. Perfect time to start a knock knock joke.
Every time you think you’ve seen the weirdest thing in Avium they manage to find a way to one up it.
My favourite thing is I swear you can tell each part was worked on at a different time and each time it was worked on it was a “that thing was cool, i want that in my game”
Flying around stars and black holes while ignoring dialogue is the best thing I've seen in months.
Honestly "Slay the Minotaur" seems like one of those titles that could get massive if a streamer found it, even if the art style is a bit on the "Runescape Classic" side (that isn't a bad thing just saying "Pretty privilege" is as much a thing in gaming as it is real life and games that choose eclectic art styles tend to suffer for it).
While the Infirmity seems like crap as far as what the devs included. If you're making an FPS then an aim down sights mode is the bare minimum, even putting aside that every gun in the game seems to have a Hollywood Gangster lean.
"On"
"Not On"
brilliant X D
I just want to know why the goblin has an aiming reticle that looks like goalposts from an American football field.
Maybe it's supposed to be that the projectile thrown is with gravity and will go to the bottom part of that american football goalpost crosshair once it happened, hence that reticle being chosen for the game. Think of that noobtube crosshair from an fps game like the og modern warfare trilogy when it comes to that goblin game crosshair.
i mean this seems obvious when you say it but... Aphrodite is a bbbaaaaaaddy
rEFHRESHing i'm cracking up a cold one and roll one to this.
Cheers to that
i cant believe how much content has been posted on this channel! ive tried to keep track of your posts over the past year or so but i havent checked in a few months. excellent work as always!!! I plan to catch up!
Nice reviews. Always love when you drop a video. Would like to see more like this one!
the first one seems to be much more fun than I expected
Thanks so much to your recommendations. I definitely wouldn't have found some of these games if not for you and your channel. I genuinely enjoyed Slay the Minotaur way more than I thought I would. I hope you find some more gems!
That All Goblin end cutscene was 100% straight from a Halo: CE level and I love it. (Truth and Reconciliation I believe)
Knowing that, the way the black borders appeared for the levels was also clearly an homage to Halo as well.
You got a sub just for Avium. Didn't know it existed till now. Gotta support indie devs!
17:55 Over the top stealth kills crack me up.
Slay the Minotaur looks like Valheim met Hades in some way :D both awesome games, might try this one out in the future, Aphrodite looks gorgeous
If you haven't tried it, Trepang2 also has very good ragdoll physics, you can even throw people at other people, after pulling the pin on their grenade of course.
Good stuff. I love that you're looking at less popular titles and giving them a fair shot.
I love games with heart, where you can see they had a story they wanted to tell and actually tried to make a good game. I can forgive a lot of jankiness if I can see they didn't just throw something together and punted it out the door to fend for itself.
Ngl, might have the pick up the minotaur game. I love the gameplay you showed.
i found a REALLY underrated gem on steam recently, it's called "Knock Harder", in the game u gotta figure out if you're in a dream or not by looking at your surroundings and seeing if anything is different in it
avium is best shit i ever seen.
A series of games I’d recommend trying are made by a chap called “zed Technician “ I don’t believe he ported any of his games to steam, but fit your requirements and I have to admit zed is building quite a world within the short games he has made.
You will notice a trend zed seems to enjoy otherwise interesting world none the less
Okay, that Avium cutscene about the primary and secondary colors is legitimately funny in that context
We have missed you!! Glad to see your videos again!
avium lore goes crazy
Good to see you back!
This was the exact kind of series I was wanting from this channel.
Such a missed opportunity with avium.. It would be so goddamn funny if you watch 20 minutes of cutscenes, then it finally gives you control, and the moment you take three steps and pick up that revolver another cutscene starts...
yeah fortunately for the rest of us they wanted to make a funny game and not just a bunch of cutscenes
I always enjoy your vids. Its both informative. Entertaining. And funny.
always a good day when Wiz uploads
Avium was a mess, but that sci-fi cat girl armor has me actin' up.
I wish we had a game with that kind of armor lmao
Modern Combat versus had something similar but the game is discontinued now I think
And then it turned out to not just be stylized like a catgirl but to have an actual furry character inside of it.
I really enjoyed the vid! It would be fun to see it come back if you happen to find some more cool games 👍
Yes, a new video! I already watched them all T__T
Welcome back WickedWiz!
He just posted a video on his second channel like a couple weeks ago.
The guy who made avium is definitely on something, and I'd like to know his dealer
47:39 The fact that this indie game has an actual animation of putting a gun down on the table to swap weapons instead of just dropping it on the ground floored me. I can't remember the last AAA game that did this. 😯
The man, the myth, the wizard, he is back
I appreciate Haunted Things teaching me how to use a key, I’ve never seen one before in my entire life and was terribly confused.
Dude, make videos more often, I really love this series.
This Video is a gem ( I love ur Videos
That's enough youtube for today ..sees Wiz uploaded a new one.. never mind. Always brilliant to see you dropped a new video, I still don't know why you don't have more subscribers, also wow that goblin game ..and now Avium.. amazing
