I was an enlisted for 5 months before I was sent to OCS. I just got with the program and kept my nose clean. Both boot camp and OCS were easy. It would even be easier if all my classmates were like me.

@@aguedagonzalezzamora3420 Ofcourse. Are you currently serving? If not, locate your nearest recruiter and start there. They are the ones that do the leg work. They will give you a list of documents you need and transcripts etc
So OCS is in Rhode Island now? When I was enlisted in Air Crew school in Pensacola, I shared a barracks with the OCS candidates. We had endless fun watching them salute squirrels.
@@natural643 Great question; depends on your rate. If you sign a contract- you have to complete bootcamp, your A school and get to your first command. After you get to your command you can drop a OcS package. Make sure you hare your BS degree and then have to decide on your field for officer route. It’s a long process

All depends on your program you apply for. A well rounded and solid candidate. Volunteer, grades, experience of the military and willingness to lean and grow

I am a green card holder with a bachelor's in physics, and my goal is to become a USNavy officer in nuclear engineering or possibly a fighter pilot.
Have you had a chance to talk to a navy recruiter- the nuclear program is a good but tough program. You can apply for the Officer package and still have the enlisted path too. There are so many elements to do as a nuc. Step one is identifying your qualified to be a sailor and ultimately a Nuclear engineer.
You can’t go Officer if you green card holder. You will have to go through bootcamp and get your citizenship and after that apply to officers program. I work at meps and there is a lot of ppl who think they can go Officer route without being citizen.
Great question, yes. I’ve had Marines enlisted go over to Navy officer. So first thing you need to do is contact a Navy active duty recruiter I would say start studying for your OAR- the naval officer exam. This will dictate your job opportunities in the navy.

So I was at OCS and DORed Now am thinking For one reason (stability and learning some skills that relate to my civilian job) and Second that i may have more resources available and familiarity with Navy overall Am thinking of enlisting first and then go OCS Any advice is welcome
Well you have to understand why you DORed.. fully. It’s a career and a new life in the navy/military industry. You can go enlisted and that bootcamp is in Great Lakes. What advice are you looking for?
@@evanjohnson4133 You're echoing my point, I DoRed because of two reasons 1) Lack of Physical fitness, barely passed my pre ship PRT 2) No familiarity with the Navy / Military life, the attention to detail, the billets, the academics, the RTPed, the RLPs, the Appendices 3) My civilian world / job that hung in balance. the way I am rethinking is, I can reapply with a different designator for OCS BUT, what is different in my approach / effort this time? I am considering enlisting as an option because 1) I will be within the Navy life to get familiar 2) I hope will have resources to prepare better physically and seniors like Mustangs that may help with other aspects. 3) The job prospects had been a struggle, it took me 6 years to be where I am at in Data and Marketing and yet there is no certainty, I am interested in MC MOS and then PAO, that way I can learn some key skills I always was interested in, have a low but stable pay, and a chance to prepare and reapply for OCS. Thoughts and advice on all this would be appreciate. I will be seeing a Navy Recruiter soon also.

It’s inspiration and motivation to focus on the work load the task of a navy officer. I’m not sure how I can help. You have your reasons for dor- now it’s on you to change the outcome in ur future
You have your phone for the first 4days at OCS. Then if you earn or have a position in your division. Like oic, co, xo etc you get to keep ur phone the entire time ur at OCS

Same, looking to come back in after 6 years out.
