Smelly Pickles that's an awesome compliment ,, seeing how I made E-5 in 3 years that was definitely doable ,, i thought really long about re-enlisting but saw more opportunities getting out and getting my degree due to how young i still was at 23. Now I'm 26 and about to graduate in the fall with my Bachelors so who knows ,, maybe I'd make a good Officer o.0 ,, time will tell ,, the only thing is I'm married now so it's not just me I have to worry about. But I'm definitely excited for the future regardless
It’s funny how similar the Navy and Marines are when it comes to insulting each other. I was not a pog either. 2/3 Golf Co. 4th platoon. I love your videos and I work with a sailor so now I have new ways to insult him.
I'm like 2 or 3 generations earlier than this dude; some of the jargon is new to me; but I can relate and this rocks and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Go Deck Ape.
I'm leaving for rtc on the 17th to be a hm. Your videos helped with a lot of the questions and concerns. I signed when I was 17 and don't regret it. Keep these great videos up. Always make me smile. my favorite RUclipsr ever. Thank you for your service man.
Hi Alex! How’s your experience been in the Navy? You’ve been enlisted for about 3 years right? Have you spent much time on your ship? And what’s your rate? Asking because I’m considering joining the Navy. Thank you in advance!
JT , Old Airman here but my Dad was a sailor. He died when I was five ,and never got to hear the navy lore. Mom mentioned the crossing of the equator but not the details .
In my 10 years in the Navy 1971-81 Shipmate was a good term and crossing the equator (1973) was a major event in a Sailor's Life. I was Sailor of the Month and Sailor of the Quarter. I am also a Bluenose Sailor (1971) for crossing the Arctic Circle. That celebration did not have all the fanfare as becoming a Shellback.
Thank you for your service. I did 5 years Navy, west coast and I'm Golden Shellback.. Deployed OIF/OEF, twice. I never new what "Bluenose" is. Sounds like Medcruise deployment, probably similar to Shellback/Golden Shellback.
LMAO JT. Love you called out those Booters out here man. I remember plenty of those that graduated high school join the military come back after boot camp to visit the high school in there uniforms lol 😂 Thinking they were the shit.
Army guy here. These jokes create comradery so I think within branch or across branches it's awesome. Wait until you go to the VA. You will have a closeness with guys that are generations apart and it's all because of that.
Yes, "shipmate" is all about tone. When DIVO sees you on the mess deck, with a cute female and says "I see you shipmate," it's cool. But every sailor that gets "shipmatted," you know you're unsat, probably from some, arbitrary reason.
If you hear a Navy person saying POG they’re probably a Corpsman. Ironically, Corpsman are POGs (even if you were rifle company) as well but we love calling everyone else POGs.
Back in the 90's when i was in the Sea Cadet's my class was run by a naval sea, his name was Don Shipley, he used to tell us all the different names and everything that the sailors would get called, was some funny and fucked up shit, ah i'll never forget that guy, we were one of the first Sea Cadet classes ever out of the Pasadena Naval Reserve Center, god i miss those days !!!
I know this is late, but I would like to add "nub" to this list. Its mostly a submarine thing, it stands for "non-useful body", and its someone who hasn't earned their submarine warfare pin yet.
6 deployments, not one SHIP CO would drop down to alloy east coast to become shell backs. I've traveled through the Suez so many times think i land hut set up. one thing I wished I gotten chance to do.
Some things never change ... You know exactly what it means if you've been "shipmated" by a douche pump. Been checking out your site ... so far, I like what I see. I enlisted right out of high school. You deliver the straight gouge ... I think that does a lot for young people. Keep up the great work! (I'll be watching)
JTsuits I was meaning military in general, idk I like to think of us as a big happy family... With Daddy and Mommy issues... And our siblings steal the candy and pin the blame. And I never mean POG as disrespect... Usually(I got my eyes on you 12B(combat engineer) Anyhow awesome to get a response ~Your friendly Hell Bring 13F(Forward Observer)
Maybe I read the wrong thing but the manual I read said if you witness hazing taking place and you dont report it you can get in trouble for it yourself.
I'm a senior in high school and there is this guy who already graduated last year and he shows up all the time after school in his Air Force uniform to say hi to all of his friends. There isn't even an Air Force base next to our school.
Lmao I just remembered a dude I worked with in deck shipmated a SEAL onboard and told him to remove his cover on the messdecks. Dude complied chill af, I just thought it was ballsy.
ya watch my video i did a couple days ago of me launching and recovering Helo's ,,, thats LSE ,, i am doing a follow up explanation vid showing you guys how to do hand signals and what everything means soon
There is way more to the Navy than a Carrier! Life on a Destroyer, Cruiser, or Sub has a total different dynamic than a Carrier. R division is one of the coolest divisions to be in, you get access to the whole ship because your into repairing the ship. Everyone thinks if they join the Navy they will be on a Carrier and your % of that happening is very low. Becoming a Shellback in the early 90s was so cool, but the PC version now is not even worth the time. Being a Shellback and a Plank owner is some of my best accomplishments from the Navy! 🇺🇸
For us submariners its Parker check valve = ship mate, Coners vs nukes = donks vs brown shoes, Shit bird = shit bag, Nub = booter, butt snorkeler = Brown noser.
My husband is about to graduate tech and he is already in the stage where he puts on regular clothes the second he's able lol. He is not someone who will be wearing it at events or weddings unless its really necessary. He thinks its weird to wear air force hats and hoodies too all the time but i think that varies on the intention of the wearer.
I had a personal nickname "wiki " literally everyone called me that even higher ranks unless it was business. Because they thought I knew everything because I looked stuff up before and have a really good memory
Honorary Brown Shoe right here...lol I get lots of crap for it too.. Wearing brown shoes at a submarine command is a big no no, unless you have thick skin..lol
Youll hear the names "Booter" "Baby Bee" "Skater". Plus, no matter what your rate is, youll learn theres only 2 Seabee rates. Builder, and Builder Support. Basically that means all you do is BU work, but they aren't proficient enough in their job, they use 6 other rates for support! lol! Also, don't get called a "Blue" (Refering to the fleeter's type 1s.) You do hard work and earn your patches, not slide through doing jack in the back, expecting it to be easy.
Ali Abdul-Aziz ya that's a good one ,, Sea lawyers though are generally smart and have been in a while due to them always butting in and correcting people / shouting out some Regulation or rule from a manual or handbook ,,, Sea lawyers would Be closely tied to brown nosers in my opinion
I would add that the sea lawyer can be a whiner as well. A guy that complains he is not get what he is owed, or he should not got to a working party because it is someone else's turn.
I was always getting into arguments with hanger deck yellow shirts, air dept is clearly the largest dept on the boat and they certainly flexed their muscles thinking they could do anything they wanted. They loved to bitch about why Tomcats needed six drip pans and we would always say why? You're not even part of the squadron and of course they would say because I don't want them leaking onto my hanger bay.
sure the first time you get home and you want to surprise your family go ahead ,,, but you not supposed to travel in uniform at all ,, against OPSEC and a Danger to yourself and those around you ,, but like i said ,, i was referring to those that use it to show off / garner attention and wear it in circumstances where it isn't needed ,, aka being a boot ,,.
JTsuits that I agree with I'm just saying when I get home from bootcamp I want my family and friends to see me in uniform. I leave in 5 days for bootcamp and love your videos just want to clear that up! Thanks man keep up the good work!
huge shoutout to all the fam for 47k ! almost to 50k !!!! ,, see u tm fam for a brand new
here from Snapchat!
JTsuits have you ever heard that 47 is the number of the universe?
JTsuits hey keep going in the direction that you are you are my favorite youtuber you are great
JTsuits I'm coming to the realization that you could've made Chief in like 7-10 years.
Smelly Pickles that's an awesome compliment ,, seeing how I made E-5 in 3 years that was definitely doable ,, i thought really long about re-enlisting but saw more opportunities getting out and getting my degree due to how young i still was at 23. Justin.
Because 99.9% of justins are gay and .099 are in the Navy so if you are the 0.001 you are safe though.
I'm like 2 or 3 generations earlier than this dude; some of the jargon is new to me; but I can relate and this rocks and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Go Deck Ape.
JT, you're my officially my favorite RUclipsr
Max Hoxie

"The last video I made I rubbed my freaking nipples and jumped in a trash can"
Shit bag is the #1 thing I hear at my A-school in Fort Leonard wood lol gatta love it.
Cat looks at JT with some concern, like, "Is JT, losing his freaking mind, or what?" lol
In bootcamp you don’t want to be called a P-day recruit, in A school you don’t want to be called an unsat Sailor. 😂
WOG Day will always be one of the most memorable times on my first deployment. Boats made that shit brutal asf but well worth it
i wanna be a navy sea lion
SAME
Mrs Suits navy walrus
Holy Shit Jay its baby wheel! no thats a fucking flounda kid!
Me to
Mrs Suits Be a Marine we are their fucking role model they copy us it’s fucking true fuck the navy.

you gotta earn shipmate. these boots just millennials waiting for their gi bill and free travel
Thank you for your service. I did 5 years Navy, west coast and I'm Golden Shellback.. Deployed OIF/OEF, twice. I never new what "Bluenose" is. Sounds like Medcruise deployment, probably similar to Shellback/Golden Shellback.

YO JT PEPE SUPPORTS YOU
Pepe 2020 thnx Pepe
Just graduated today from bootcamp, thank you so much for the info and helping future sailors get prepped and ready to go.
Matthew Corry wats up man congrats !!! How'd it go ?!
JTsuits Definitely a humbling experience, It really helped me learn to work better as a team and made me a lot stronger mentally and physically
Army guy here. These jokes create comradery so I think within branch or across branches it's awesome. Wait until you go to the VA. You will have a closeness with guys that are generations apart and it's all because of that.
"do your friken service honorably"
What about "welcome aboard shipmate!"
haha thats more of just a greeting ?
JTsuits I believe she was saying it's a bad thing to be in the navy Just a guess
No way Jose! I was just saying you were saying it's bad to be called "shipmate"
Mrs Hannum ahhhh haha that makes sense >.
Worst feeling in a school was minding your business walking to the galley and hearing “HEY, SHIPMATE” from behind you
Blue Falcon = Jack! "Bastard" (British Army)
Shipmate is all in how you say it. As a Chief and LDO I used it a lot both good and bad. Its all in the inflection.
Yes, "shipmate" is all about tone. When DIVO sees you on the mess deck, with a cute female and says "I see you shipmate," it's cool. But every sailor that gets "shipmatted," you know you're unsat, probably from some, arbitrary reason.
Are you still on active duty? I served from 1985 to 2005, when I retired. Your videos bring back a lot of memories.
If you hear a Navy person saying POG they’re probably a Corpsman. Ironically, Corpsman are POGs (even if you were rifle company) as well but we love calling everyone else POGs.

Surface nukes use it too, but it's more for watchstation quals
6 deployments, not one SHIP CO would drop down to alloy east coast to become shell backs. I've traveled through the Suez so many times think i land hut set up. one thing I wished I gotten chance to do.
AMERICA!!!
I respect all branches of our wonderful army
Pappy D Sorry to be that douche but *military.
PAPAPAPPAPAPAPPAPAPA
The 100 guys go out and 50 couples come back joke is funny. teeheehee
Shipmate gets a better connotation after you get out.
I want, need, and am going to be a Navy SEAL. So right now I am prepping for a prep for the prep for the main shit... Wish me luck everyone! :D
Brent Cruz looks like that didn’t work out
If you're in flight ops and a tool is lost up on deck you call lost tool right away. Depending on different factors.
6:08 This is why the Navy has the "gay" stereotype 😂😂😂
to a Booter-" Dont let my kids have more sea time on family days cruises than you have in the Navy"
#askjt- have you seen or heard a ship get hit by lighting while out at sea?
Lance Hammond ahhh makes sense
Did you just "Shipmate" me ... Airman Shmuckatelli?
Some things never change ... You know exactly what it means if you've been "shipmated" by a douche pump. Been checking out your site ... so far, I like what I see. I enlisted right out of high school. You deliver the straight gouge ... I think that does a lot for young people. Keep up the great work! (I'll be watching)
Technically, coming from former Army, we could call you POG (Person OTHER than Grunt) ... Cause you are... In all definition a POG...
Chloe Price navy doesn't have grunts smart one
JTsuits I was meaning military in general, idk I like to think of us as a big happy family... With Daddy and Mommy issues... And our siblings steal the candy and pin the blame.
And I never mean POG as disrespect... Usually(I got my eyes on you 12B(combat engineer)
Anyhow awesome to get a response
~Your friendly Hell Bring 13F(Forward Observer)
Blue falcon is branch universal..... lol... caw-caw....
leaning towards the navy again , especially hearing the seal cadence , 2 years to decide
I'm a Golden Dragon Shellback. Crossed the equator then crossed the time-line in the Pacific. 😊
Do a detailed military finance video !?

Sean Ramey thnx for watching!
Congrats JT!
Maybe I read the wrong thing but the manual I read said if you witness hazing taking place and you dont report it you can get in trouble for it yourself.
That sounds like something a frat boy would say.
i got called Squid and stewburner a lot ...lol
I'm a senior in high school and there is this guy who already graduated last year and he shows up all the time after school in his Air Force uniform to say hi to all of his friends. There isn't even an Air Force base next to our school.

Your videos have been super helpful fam! Just scored myself a GM contract and I ship out Nov 20th with possible roll back. 🤙🏼
Camisad Fuck it, I've got a great workout plan already but I'm always looking for new shit to spice it up. Subbed.

My favorite on the boat USS PITTSBURGH SSN 720 was called Check Valve...hahahah
For us submariners its Parker check valve = ship mate, Coners vs nukes = donks vs brown shoes, Shit bird = shit bag, Nub = booter, butt snorkeler = Brown noser.
BTW, my shipmates are the people I go to sea with and I love and respect them. No sexual connotations involved.
Bro you missed Skater, Boat ho3, super sailor 😂
Te amo JTsuits
its not gay if its navy
Last name Tomaszycki. My Father to so Obviously was and still called Ski from All my Navy Crash and Salvage Brothers
I only wore my uniform to the airport to skip TSA and board first durring the holiday rush
I am surprised the US Navy lingo and Canadian Navy lingo are totally different.
Great advice dude👍
I just enlisted as a nuke... I have been watching your videos for a long time and I am so glad I found your channel :)
glad to have you brother ,, appreciate the support
im a golden shell back i did it 5 times I was in the Navy 21 yrs from 1982 to 2003
Good video JODY
So I ducked ur girl ?
Was just about to ask if you were a green shirt. I watched flight ops, green shirts to me always worked the hardest
My instructors want me to come back after USMC boot camp to inspect the unit
I had a personal nickname "wiki " literally everyone called me that even higher ranks unless it was business. Because they thought I knew everything because I looked stuff up before and have a really good memory
well thats not too bad of a nickname haha ,, i guess more of a compliment to your mental abilities
Last Christmas when my son graduated from mcrd he wore his Charles to go visit my mom in a test home is that considered a booter?
Man I feel bad for the Seaman who's last name actually turns out to be Smuchkatelli XD
Just joined the Marine Corps, thanks for the new names haha
Well, you could be called shipmate after boot camp and that's a good thing
Honorary Brown Shoe right here...lol I get lots of crap for it too.. Wearing brown shoes at a submarine command is a big no no, unless you have thick skin..lol
papa
Great vid
I ship out Jan 9th 2018! Going into the Seabees!
Youll hear the names "Booter" "Baby Bee" "Skater". Plus, no matter what your rate is, youll learn theres only 2 Seabee rates. Builder, and Builder Support. Joe Brown my rate is BU. Thanks for the info! It's hard to find any on Seabees for some reason
Just don't ever go in as a UT. You'll have the nickname of turd chaser.
I’m strongly thinking of going to the Navy but a bunch of SEMEN😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"QUEEN BEE"
you should do a vid on OS's
Hey you should do a vlog at hurricane harbor I could get you some free tickets
Which is the only rope on a gray ship mate ?
Sgt.Gigli
i feel like everyone started saying shipmate as a joke but it’s become normal 😭 i’m at the groton naval base so us subs are weird 👀🤷🏼♀️
So, as a greenside HM with 2 years on Okinawa with my Marines but no ship/sub time, I'd still be a boot?
"100 people go out and 50 couples come back"
Emerald shellback here. Shellbacking sucks ass though.
Shipmate doesn't have to be negative. It's all in the context.
Guess times have changed.
What if you are called all of these at once?
MoonShadow830
someone wants to fight you
I remember calling a few folks Sea Lawyer as an insult
Ali Abdul-Aziz ya that's a good one ,, Sea lawyers though are generally smart and have been in a while due to them always butting in and correcting people / shouting out some Regulation or rule from a manual or handbook ,,,
Sea lawyers would Be closely tied to brown nosers in my opinion
I would add that the sea lawyer can be a whiner as well. A guy that complains he is not get what he is owed, or he should not got to a working party because it is someone else's turn.
What tip of Aviation mechanic were you and did you leave on the boat year round
I was always getting into arguments with hanger deck yellow shirts, air dept is clearly the largest dept on the boat and they certainly flexed their muscles thinking they could do anything they wanted. They loved to bitch about why Tomcats needed six drip pans and we would always say why? You're not even part of the squadron and of course they would say because I don't want them leaking onto my hanger bay.
Became a shell back in 2017 lol
Have you done your DNA you bear a resemblance to Elvis?
#askJT do you know what the difference is for s rescue swimmer with an AIRR contract compared to any other AW contract that is a volunteer swimmer?
"Don't glorify something you do" you do it to make your family and friends smile when you come home. Not show off.
sure the first time you get home and you want to surprise your family go ahead ,,, but you not supposed to travel in uniform at all ,, against OPSEC and a Danger to yourself and those around you ,, but like i said ,, i was referring to those that use it to show off / garner attention and wear it in circumstances where it isn't needed ,, aka being a boot ,,.
JTsuits that I agree with I'm just saying when I get home from bootcamp I want my family and friends to see me in uniform. I leave in 5 days for bootcamp and love your videos just want to clear that up! Thanks man keep up the good work!
gl brother ! ,, def wear your uniform proudly ! you earned it ! there is a time and place for everything :D
When I was in ,shipmates was a compliment. Sorry I called you a shipmate. We used it as a term for commerodomy.
