I remember being asked, by a PO1, to say the RTC maxim. I told him "I will not lie, steal, or cheat..." before I could finish, I was dropped so fast. I later realized that I had the order wrong. It's LCS (lie, cheat, or steal), not LSC. Everything must be repeated word for word. One tiny screw up, and the whole thing is wrong.

Be prepared for no sleep upon arrival. Arrived, stood in hallway reciting general orders, told to shower, hit the rack, and lights came on 2 hours later. And yes I heard crying the first night. Be prepared to meet dickheads. It’s a fact of life. Either jerks, or ones who think they’re so cool they glide across the deck. We had a whole week devoted to mess crank. Most worthless week of my life. Up at zero dark thirty and back to barracks late at night. Rinse and repeat for 5 days. There were recruits in my company who were so tired they fell over while standing in the chow line before working. Try and find a good buddy while heading to basic. Either at meps or on the travel to boot camp. I was clueless on this and and when there was a mad scramble to grab a bunk I got some guy who mentally shouldn’t have been in the navy. He ended up getting shipped out by the end of the week. Recruits who are assigned any position of authority will let it go to their heads. Enough said. Hardest part of boot camp was during damage control lessons. The instructors took pity on us and when on break everyone put their heads down on the desk and passed out. One time I woke up while in instructor was in mid lecture and one third of the class was still asleep. That being said, practicing damage control was the funniest part of boot camp. Prepare to eat fast. Start getting up early at least a couple of weeks before leaving for boot camp. No later then 5am. Don’t even think of trying to give the eye to any of the female recruits. Your instructors are all knowing. Blend in. Don’t stand out. You WILL get cycled either by yourself or collectively as a company. Know your ranks. From lowly seamen to admiral. Chow was excellent, but remember to take what you want but eat what you take. Remember that the military personnel at meps are not gods even though some will think so. The guy I had who was assigned to do the last of my paperwork almost insisted I consider a different rate. I stuck to my guns and he gave up. Remember, if at anytime during meps you feel you might be getting hosed then you can walk. Nothing they can do although they might say so. C029 Orlando..fall of 88. “Hall of Fame”
Thank you so much for the videos. One of my son's just signed his DEP contract for HM. Your videos along with NICKY's are providing a great deal of insight. Salut!
This helps alot. I'm in NJROTC and there's alot they don't teach you and there's alot they do it's all about who is your instuctor but you just saved me a whole lot of time with figuring out what to study. I ship 08/23/18 a week after my dbay😭
Scuttlebutt! This is one of my favorite terms to use, because it confounds my civilian coworkers. It actually has two meanings. In addition to water fountain, it also means rumors or gossip. If you think about people jawing around the water cooler in an office setting, the scuttlebutt is the navy counterpart where sailors go to gossip.
I know the Navy is different than when I was aboard ship in the 60's. But Aye Aye sir, Aye sir, and yes sir, no sir were different responses for different orders. Aye aye is in response to an order where you have to leave the area. Go to the bow and watch for mail bouy, aye aye sir. Aye sir is given when you will remain in the presence of the officer. Hand me that jar of relative bearing grease, aye sir. Yes sir or no sir is in response to a question. So tell me do you love the Navy? Your choice.
Hey I have Been To Navy Boot Camp ship 006 division 013 lasted all the way to the end, they put me in seps for about 4 months for some little twitch my eye makes, then the day i got my ship date home they told me I could return to training? after 4 months in that loony bin(seps) I was excited to return to training and then I broke down and right back they sent me to seps for about another month. I remember Recruit Haven was fun and that lounge it distracted us . A year later Im having dreams about the navy i miss it but I dont know if i want to do all that again, I was starting the processes of reenlisting found out everything good but then I just dont have that ambition to go through that again, dont get me wrong Great Mistakes was a wonderful experience and lesson in my life that I will never forget !
Great Video!! Thanks I ship out next month on the 21st and this video and your other video where you highlight how to make rank are two great study materials for anyone, like me, who wants to start their naval career on the best foot possible. Keep up the great work... You've definitely shot up the rankings. 1) DWK 2) The legend JT 3) Nicky
I’ve been really interested in being in the navy ever since these two people that are in the navy came into my administrative justice class Yesteday it was great and can’t wait till I’m old enough to sign up I have so many questions it would be great if I could ask you all the questions I have thank you
Thanks buddy for this wonderful video that helps a lot. With this I believe I know where am heading to in making sure I prepare to succeed in Navy Bootcamp.

Funny im in jrotc and some of these basic drill are so easy. Airforce fall out is different from jrotc I learned I have to take one step back and do an about face. Also instead of ears we do eyes and we look and listen than we are told to at ease.
Interesting, I was a corpsman many years ago and scuttlebutt was a water fountain but it also meant gossip. People would ask if you'd heard the latest scuttlebutt.
I ship out September 9th so coming up!! I'm excited to be yelled and and get that work in and be transformed from civillian to sailor to eventually Navy Diver
