  • I HAVE A COUPLE OF TESTS IN MIND FOR THE AFR 302/351W FORD HEADS I GOT. I NEED TO TEST P-V WITH THE BIG VALVES AND COMPARE TO GT-40 HEADS-THEY SHOULD ALSO GO ON A JUNKYARD 351W

    I used the 185 enforcer heads on my 395w 9.7cr build with a tfs stage 2 cam and a edelbrock rpm air gap topped off with a 750 vacuum secondary. Fun combo in a 3000lbs car. I used a hp calculator it estimates 450hp at 5500.

    There are 2 versions of this head which probably caused the flow number confusion. They sell a small valve and a large valve version.

    Just started watching but have these heads on my 357. Out of the box heads and tfs stage 2 cam made 700+ whp on a dynocom with an eddy brake on 11psi boost pte 7675

    I had the AFR 165 on my SBE 302 small turbo 5-speed Fox body and those heads made plenty of power with the turbo I was 500 to the wheels on 8 lb of boost AFR makes straight heads I now have 225s on a 375 stroker in the car love AFR heads

    I had to notch my piston on my 87 GT short block for the Promaxx 180 heads 2.02 1.60 I just used a drimel and used grease to keep the shavings from flying everywhere. Turned out good. I’ve got a video on it somewhere in my play list

      I like to use a old valve. Glue some sand paper to the bottom and roll it up the sides slightly and put the valve in the head and set the head on the block with two bolt in it. Then get a drill and push down on it and let the sand paper do the job. I fly cut my pistons on my ls1 In about a hour or so. And it looked professional lol

      @@Smxsucks awesome!!! I’ve heard of that method also. The last ones I did I used a old valve and just cut teeth on them. Worked really good also.

      What cam did you use? Im looking at the same heads for my 90 351 and a Lunati efi272hr roller cam. The lift and duration is pretty mild so am hoping it clears but could probably clearance the stock pistons.

      @@supersportimpalass I used the E303 cam. The 351 pistons should be good but definitely check.

    The renegade head is the cnc ported one. The enforcer is as cast.

    Hi Richard, love all your stuff especially about small block fords splitting. I would like to see how long an internally balanced, well tuned 347 would last. I think I am not going to pay for a Dart block and just have my 90 block property stroker and balanced. Then not rev over 6500 and see what happens.

      that should last a really long time. im moving in that direction with these enforcers in most likely and a forged eagle rotating assembly and a howards 235/243 .565/.565 rattler cam it'll be with my OG 1979 block retro roller

      I have personally seen them split but they normally split due to boost and too much torque

    Im building 393w with enforcer afr 274xe its for 69 fb mustang tkx 5 speeds trans and sniper i hope it work good with the enforcers

    With DSS pistons,.027 head gasket, degreed in at 108, I had .093 thou on intake and .290 on the exhaust. Pistons .011 in the hole.
    This is the xe274hr

    afr has the superior valve train. they use the same components in their renegade version.

    Here's a question, knowing that these are knock off Dart heads and that many companies sell this casing under their brand.and that the majority of the issues people have with them is the valvetrain not being up to par. is it possible to buy a set of bare castings and knock out the 11/32 valve guides and install 8mm stuff such as what afr does with them, or are the holes drilled out too large already?

      @@richardholdener1727 Your kidding right? The enforcer sbf casting is a clone of a old ported dart pro 1 head.. Blue print brought that casting to market with Chinese production over a decade ago... Hell Dart is selling a Chinese clone of an afr 205 under there shp line now. All the Chinese sourced heads are clones of an American made heads and now the big name are even selling them. Replacing blueprint heads with the enforcers... Its the same casting with different valve train.

    Richard, I ran the silver state a few times when you were up there, still have thew same Mustang. Super charged 331 with TFS Street Heat heads 410 hp rear wheels. What do thing if these heads .

      Edelbrock for the series 1, sve was the same casting from Steve sun engines, different variations on the port work though but same base casting..... The 210 &185 x are AFR clones, same casting as floteks hammer 205 and darts shp line has both the edelbrock 175 and afr 205 sbf clones now... Welcome to investment firms owning the industry..

      @@chestrockwell8328 They have two different castings for sbf currently with many port size options, only the project x heads are Afr clones, the rest are based on edelbock copy. These are permanent mold castings, all they are doing is changing the runner cores for as cast size. All the Chinese heads are tweaked American heads someone had a foundry there reverse engineer from a cleaned up head some one brought them. Steven sun cast the edelbrock clones, I haven't looked into who did the afr copies but promaxx isn't the only one selling them... Hell way back before it got bought and renamed Promaxx they had a really bad afr copy of first gen heads called the Patriot head but quality has improved greatly over the years on the cheaper China stuff. And pro comp is a piss poor Vic Jr copy if your wondering...

      I had ptv issues with this setup. Shop had to fly cut. I also had to get tall valve covers - which then necessitated a 1” spacer.

      @@steelerpen87 interesting! I did checked pvc twice and it was good. Idk if it matters or not I have a 94 short block with stock pistons (I think they are the same as 87-93 just not forged). I’m using stock valve covers with 1.6 rockers with no issues so far with a f cam.

      @@chasecary92 Interesting. Shop had me up to show. They tested with clay and mechanically. They had to shave the relief eyebrow out a bit to accept the larger intake valve.
      I have a stock 302 bottom in an 1989 foxbody vert. Trick flow stage 1 cam. 1.6 scorpion rockers.
      Same thing with valve covers. I had cobras. They tried removing the baffles and grinding inside to make them work - no luck.
      Shop explained it’s a case by case in terms of clearance issues- lots of variables that make car to car comparisons difficult.
      End of the day. I’m happy. Noticeable seat of the pants more power and torque.

      @@richardholdener1727 i would like to get a SBF AIR GAP INTAKE and drill out the bosses to accept the factory fuel rail and injectors and also get a holley efi part# 300-240 and bolt it to the intake or something similar and then bolt the factory 65mm throttle body to that....does that paint a pretty good picture of the set up. Basically replacing the foxbody lower and upper intake.
