    Race winning brands is the private equity group that you are speaking of, they are screwing up all the entire HiPerformance market today. As far as CHI and CID and Higgins I was involved in their port designs and manifolds also. CID is in Minnesota and the castings come from Profiler, I hope that helps.

    The one thing i was always impressed with was Afr exhaust port flow. They werent huge cc but for sbf exhaust port flow is so good even compared to other aftermarket pieces.
    One company you didnt list is Performance world. It looks like a Canadian company that domestically machines foreign castings. They have HUGE cathedral ls heads that use offset ls3 rockers and have a 252cc intake port. They also have regular gen1 castings and huge rec port ls3 castings as well.
    I dont expect a set of these to cross your bench.

    Back in the day before for sbc iron heads it was the pro Topline heads😎 neighbor had a stock block iron headed sbc (408) made 650hp na. Also had a 200 shot single stage. Ran 9.80 na and 8.90 with the spray in a foxbody notch. Those old school pro Topline heads were sweet. Can’t find them anywhere now. It’d be like finding gold. Pretty sure when this motor was running in the mid 00’s those heads were already out of production and bought out 10 years earlier. Now it’s the known RHS pro action stuff but I’m not 100% sure if the heads are as good as they were when the New Zealand company was making them back in the 90’s, and I don’t think they even make an iron head anymore. Maybe I’m wrong.

    Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but the guys at engine Masters have done some really good test on the Pro Comp heads that you say are completely junk and they only made 20 less horsepower than a head that cost three times as much Richard holder also did some procomp and Speedmaster head comparisons at Westech performance and found that for the price you could not come close so I would say China junk is probably just an opinion and I would rather base my information on actual numbers from a Dyno session such as engine Masters or Westech performance. I personally use brodix heads

Now ported that changes a bit but im running old school svo y303 heads that have been opened up so much they are almost unrecognizable from the stock version 😂

    For the real budget sbf I wouldn't touch Flotek besides the hammer head which has been OOS for ages. There basic head is a. China gt40 based casting, promaxx is prob the best Budget street China option for sbf, the rest sell the yongyu dart clone. Afr, proheader, rpc liberty etc.. . Covid killed a lot of the China supply though. No idea who did the hammer head for flotek but they seem to be the only one with it wouldn't mind trying those on the cheap. Way too many levels of performance to lump stuff by brand vs engine in a video like this but I get the point of it. In the end all the private equity firms buying up the industry is going to end up killing it..

    I think that it's worth mentioning that a lot of this is relative. You mentioned the DART 10° LS head being the best however that is not a "true" LS head. What I mean by that is that it cannot simply be bolted on where the stock intake and exhaust fit. In other words if you purchased that head, you will have to have a custom intake and either modify your exhaust or build it from scratch. There is a comparable head to that called the MOZEZ head from MAST motorsports which I'm surprised and yet not surprised that you didn't mention. It wouldn't surprise me that you have never seen one since you have cylinder heads come through your shop that need your attention and these are ready to go. The MOZEZ are every bit comparable to the DART 10deg.
    You mentioned that AFR was the best out of the box head possibly (if I recall correctly). The mast heads for LS and late LT engines are by far the superior cylinder head. The seats are as well blended both in the bowls and the chambers as I have ever seen in any out-of-the-box heads, as well as the concentricity of the valves being consistently the best.
    That brings me to another relative subject. A lot of these cylinder heads have concentricity issues because of how plastic the aluminum is. That all settles down after the cylinder heads have been run for a while and as a result, I highly recommend anybody getting any of these heads (at least for the LS platform), remove their cylinder heads after a few months of heat cycling and get a valve job done or at least the valve concentricity checked to confirm it's still good.
    There's also Frankenstein heads. They have become much bigger in the LS community although I don't care for them for reasons other than their out of the box performance.

    • @WeingartnerRacing
      @WeingartnerRacing  2 года назад +1

      I know of the mozez head but it has not come through the shop. I didn’t bring up mast, all pro, and Frankenstein because to me they are more of head porting place than an actual manufacturer. Although mast is more of the exception to that rule and I probably should have included them.

      I certainly appreciate your videos and don't want this to come off as any argument but you mentioned PRC heads and maybe you've seen otherwise but I've only seen them being sold by Texas speed, yet another porting operation of course. Are the PRC castings sold elsewhere?
      I recall when MAST bought the operation from Cary (sp), whom started Performance Induction heads. I don't suppose they have their own foundry but I believe they are specifically cast for them just like CID heads have proprietary castings made by Profiler. Any idea who is doing the casting for MAST?
      Last one for the record. DART also does not own a foundry, or at least not for their blocks. I got that directly from them.
