      There are foreign car manufacturers in China...
      Even though this year they are expected to sell 10 million EVs in China
      They still expect to sell 20 million ICE vehicles in China this year
      Where many of these cars will be legacy automakers from the west

    If you want your own citizens to fork out $60,000-$100,000 for an American tesla just admit it. No reason to raise tariffs under the guise of overcapacity. How long were European,American Japanese and other car brands able to sell in the Chinese market with no issue? Gtfo.

      Wulin is half American half Chinese mini EV maker, GM accounts for 44% shares, and Wulin has several factories in Indonesia, the potential big car market in ASEAN 10 years later.

    Harmful overcapacity? Now we have realized the absurdity of 'overcapacity', we are changing the tone by qualfying it with classification of being harmful (and helpful). So, our overcapacity has been helpful and the Chinese's are harmful. I know cnbc is not saying it but really?

    Nowadays ship Chinese EV from China to countries that doesn't have a local dealer using some special ways to bypass regulations has become a business,and the US is talking about overcapacity,as native Chinese in China I have to wait for months to get my new car,and US is still talking about overcapacity😂

    many people do not know that Wuling mini EVs is a joint venture, GM has 44% share, shanghai motor has 51%, Guangxi has 5%. Wuling was the No.1 car sales in China, and its EV series still held the remarkable market share, and it has several factories in Indonesia as well. this mini EV with price ranged from $5K to 8K, and very attractive for a begining EV buyer.

    I want Chinese EVs in the U.S. now! They are affordable and good quality now, much better than GM/Chevy/Ford expensive EV garbage made by 60$/hr factory workers that want 4 day work weeks and full pay.

    The largest auto maker in Liuzhou is SGMW, who makes the most inexpensive car in China. SGMW is a joint venture between SAIC Motor (Shanghai Auto Industry Corporation), General Motors, and Guangxi Auto (a local company).

    in the semiconductor sectors, there is monopoly in pricing and in market control. dominate by tsmc, asml, nvidia, intel and samsung. boeing and airbus in commercial aviation, drug companies and oil companies as well . even in smart phone platform, android or ios. china is simply makes it affordable and in scale. while other industries without china's participation is driven by market control and manufacturing output, makes the consumer products getting more expensive every year.

    Whoever is doing exporting business will laugh at the word " over capacity " ..... seriously, you can't export anything if you don't have "over capacity "! In general, value comes from the qulity and the affordability. Over capacity is just trash talk.

    Here’s the fact, in 2023 EV manufacturing quantity:
    1) Shenzhen 1.78M BYD
    2) Shanghai 1.2868M Tesla, SAIC group
    3) Xian 0.9838M BYD, Geely

    What people are not mentioning is that only three EV companies in China are profitable - BYD, Li Auto and Tesla all the rest are still losing money which is why many predict the number of EV manufacturers will shrink drastically as many of those companies go out of business when state backing dries up.

      The market will regulate itself, and if Chinese cars aren't popular, consumers around the world won't want to buy them. The fact of the matter now is that electric cars in Europe and the United States are unpopular, and they have to use forces outside the market.

      What you are not mentioning is that the consolidation is a natural evolvement and the Chinese government can't want it to happen fast enough. Because whoever survive that will be the strongest and most profitable carmakers in the world.

    Liuzhou is not the EV capital of China. Shenzhen with BYD, Xpeng and many other Brands should be the EV capital of China, also Shanghai produces about 2-3 million cars a year, also in Hefei, wuhan, chongqing, Beijing, they all have a lot of Car companies there, from USD5000 to USD 150000 , you name it

    THE U.S MARKET IS 350 MILLION PEOPLE WITH A DECLINING MIDDLE CLASS AND POVERTY ELIMINATION. THE CHINESE DOMESTIC MARKET ALONE IS 4X OUR SIZE. IF WE INCLUDE THE GLOBAL SOUTH MARKETS. THAT IS 6 TO 6.5 BILLION PEOPLE MARKET WITH GROWING ECONOMIES AND POPULATION GROWTH. THE AMERICAN MARKET IS INSIGNIFICANT TO CHINA AND SO IS THE ENTIRE G7.

    There are 5 EV makers in Liuzhou city, and 2 of them are half American brand.
    - Baojun Automobile was jointly established by SAIC, GM and Wuling in 2010, with SAIC holding 50.1%, GM holding 44% and Wuling holding 5.9%.
    - Wuling Hongguang is SAIC Motor Corporation, which holds 50.1% of the shares, General Motors of the United States holds 44% of the shares, and Guangxi Automobile Group Co., Ltd. holds 5.9% of the shares. SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. was established on November 18, 2002, and its headquarters is located in Liuzhou, Guangxi.
    * Baojun Automobile was once a shining star. From 181,500 units in 2014 to 1,016,000 units in 2017.
    * Wuling Automobile's annual global sales in 2023 are 1.4 million units.

    You just want short working hours, good salary and one month long summer holiday! And also not much focus on manufacturing R&D. So low skills, not hard working workers and no new technology, how to compete? Luckily, your politicians are very creative, let's call it "Over-Capacity" and name and shame China, so that we can use tariffs as obstacles. In the end, tariffs will slow China down a bit. But once they start making cars in Mexico, Hungary, Spain, etc. Then your low tech and costly cars will go to the landfills!

    I am going to Liuzhou to buy my EV. Here is a pro tip for you guys! Buy a three wheel EV. Those are very rare, so nobody will want to steal car from you. Police will spot it immediately if stolen.
