Finally, a reason for me to actually purchase the game. I think the next Steam sale is fall, like you, I will consider getting it then. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I wouldn't not have known otherwise. I don't have an 8K screen though, mines 4K, and I am sure the game will run great on my 4K screen with an Nvidia 3080 16GB GPU, and an 8-Core 16-Thread CPU, with 32GB of RAM. And yes, I hope that Half Life 3 is released within my lifetime too.
I actually like VR technology, it does aome pretty amazing things in the right games. You can see things you just don't see on a flat screen and that surprised me. UEVR is a great project to look into, it does the opposite turning some modern games from flat to vr. The new resident evil games look incredible in VR. I also can't wait for more half-life, super hyped. I'm sure I'd play it on both flat and in VR
I tried some of it a year ago. You instantly can tell you're completely missing out on the experience/magic and are just butchering it without VR. So much so I didn't play much. The "noVR" is good and has improved a lot, but the game feels wrong outside of VR. There's also another one by "SoMNst" which is a different approach, but that's still in development.

This could be enticing. I haven't played Alyx purely because it's VR.
First I want hl2 episode 3.
