The reason cats like being pet between the eyes and ears is quite simple: That's a spot they can't lick themselves, so if they have itchy fur or otherwise feel uncomfortable they need someone else to scratch that spot for them. So that's usually the spot where cats start when they groom each other.

Just give them true love, i.e., treat them like an independent person, give them food on time, clean litter, lots of blinking they love you back.

Hi, I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes, cats do get depressed, especially at the loss of a kitty friend or their human. You can never replace your cat, but maybe you should consider adopting a rescue cat from a shelter. I have 13 catkids and most of them were shelter/rescues. If you're worried about getting a kitten you could adopt an older cat. My Charlie and Lottie were both 2 & a1/2 when I adopted them and they are so loving and cuddling. Also the benefit of a rescue cat is they're desexed already. It may take a little time for them to become besties, but I'm sure they will, I have 13 so I'm usually right. When I got Lottie, she would smack the rest of the kids around the ears, but after a week or two they were all fine. I hope you keep your kitties inside and safe, also is the cat you have desexed? Mine are all desexed, thank goodness and they are all happy inside because they have lots of toys, scratchy stands, & fun things to do. I wish you well. I lost some of my babies last year and though the pain is still there, the lovely memories are helping alot. I wish you lots of wonderful memories too❤ Cazz
