Oh Lord! That is awesome! I bet that was always great at dinner parties! Everyone is enjoying, talking, laughing, and then it all falls silent as The cat walks in dragging Mom’s pjs!
the "covering eyes" sleeping position is the cutest thing i have ever seen in my entire fucking life, i die from overdose cuteness everytime i see my cat like that
I adopted a completely feral cat last year that had been born and raised in the streets. As soon as I put him inside, he bonded with my two other cats, found my bed and slept with his belly up. That made me cry for days i was so proud. He immediately felt safe with me and that resonates with me always
I found my cat as a lonely stray kitten. she used to be afraid of EVERYTHING. now she sleeps in the sea otter position most of the time and it makes me feel really proud like I gave her a home that she feels really safe in. :)
I found my kitten also on the street shivering. The difference is he is an affectionate one. On the first night he already snugling with me and husband untill now. The only thing he is afraid is kids running around.
My former feral kitten also exposes her belly when she sleeps on me and when she started doing it I felt so proud of how far we both had come together.
I adopted a stray feral cat here in a war zone in Iraq. She's missing her tail and an ear. It took me a long time to slowly gain her trust and form a bond with her (I've been working here more than 3 years) but now were best friends. I'm the only person she will let touch her or even get close, but all she does is either curl up on my lap or lay next to me in the sea otter position :)
Our new kitten stowed away under our truck, we found her when we got home and heard a cat meowing. There she was. How she didn't fall out of there when we were doing 70 on the freeway on our way home, I can only say she was God given. She sleeps in full otter position most of the time.
my cat used to climb underneath my head somehow and make me use him as a pillow, I would wake up and immediately worry about him being squashed by my head. He hasnt done it in years but for a while he would do it every night, was nice and soft and warm I must admit. (Would be a nightmare if you had allergies and went to your mates house and their cat did that XD)
Our ginger boy Kaos is rather tall and quite long, with about 8kg of solid lean muscle on him. And he insists on coming to my pillow during the night and commandeering the whole thing for himself, pushing my head off slowly but firmly with strong legs and half sheathed claws. I now blame him for all those times that I woke up with pulled neck muscles or / and sore shoulders.
I would normally toss and turn a lot in need, at night, so my cat sleeps between my legs. Very clever, because she gets to feel safe, and it's much harder for me to turn over, with a cat between my legs. When I'm poorly, she lies on my chest, purrs loudly, and looks at me, as if she wished she could make me better. I live alone, and she's such great company. I love her so much.
Yeah, i didnt let my late cat sleep in my bed, because i would toss and turn so much (i have one side of my against the wall and i occasionally wake myself kicking the wall). I just didnt want the poor guy to wake up airborne.☺️ However, i liked taking naps on the floor and didnt much then, so we could chill together that way.
My favorite sleeping position is the "Proper Kitty" where they put one paw on top of the other as if they are crossing their hands. They look like royalty sleeping. :)
My cat was really sick and I didn't knew it. She always slept in the loaf position, which I learned later was to keep pressure off her internal organs. She did an amazing job of hiding her pain. Miss you, Koko Kitty. 🖤
RiP Koko Kitty. My cat is crouching, in pain. My other cat did this also before she went to rainbow bridge. I know I'll lose this one soon despite vet treatment. Jackson never mentioned crouching, did he.
3 years ago I adopted a stray cat (Mamma Mia) and her kitten, a male that I call Mika. They got spayed, neutered, vaccinated, chipping, aso but they preferred to live in heated cat houses on my porch. Now and then they would come in and inspect the house but they never stayed inside for long. Probably because I had a dog at that time and even tough they got along well i guess the cats considered the house as the dogs territory? However, last June Mika had some kind of accident (I didn't see what happened) and came hime limping. He needed emergency surgery and they removed the femur head (think that's what it's called). He had to stay in an xxl dog crate for 2 weeks and then inside with only controlled movement for another 4 weeks. He has never lived inside a house before with all the strange noises and before he always has been afraid of everything. I expected this to be extremely stressful for us both but to my surprise it went extremely well. It almost melted my heart when I once came into the living room and saw Mika lying on the couch, on the back, all legs stretched out and sleeping deeply. 😍 And since then he does that very often. And on top of that our relationship has changed as well. It was okay to pet him but nothing more. Now since he was forced to be inside with me, he licks my fingers, I get love bites, and nose kisses and I can touch him without problems, removing ticks and so on. It sounds very strange but in some way the accident and surgery was the best thing to boost Mikas self esteem and trust. He feels save and secure and loved and he has overcome his fears and is now willing to explore new things like cats do instead of instantly be afraid.
"Tell that's not the cutest thing you've ever seen in your life and DON'T TELL ME IF IT'S NOT BC HE'S *MY* CAT" is a serious mood. My cat IS the cutest cat in existence and the rest of you are wrong.
My cat was a little stray who literally ran into my house. On days 1-3, she slept in the donut. Then on day 4, she fell asleep purring as I was petting her. After about 5 minutes, she stretch out on her back. Tummy fully exposed with her paws over her head. I knew then and there that she knew she was home. 💛
I’ve been watching these videos for a few weeks highly considering getting a cat when I’m in a good position to do it. Then today I suddenly found and was adopted by a little kitten. Turns out these channel *summons* cats if you don’t already have one. 🥰
They can sense your openness to cat vibes... I am convinced they have ESP. I have been taking care of ferrals and abandoned pets... they also seem to find me from a distance. Or maybe it's the cat grapevine.
The paw over the eye makes me wanna punch myself in the face it's so cute. My Tabby covers her little eyes with her tail if she can get in the right position
I was laughing so hard when he said "why are you watching this channel unless your getting a cat tomorrow "cause I'm actually am getting a kitten tomorrow 😂😂
Cats know when they have it good; my cat, at 8 weeks old, immediately started sleeping on his back, on my pillow. He then graduated to sleeping on top of my head, and now, a year and a half later, he curls up into a contortionist, belly up position, with his paws totally relaxed, folded over at the wrists. Usually his hind legs are laying at a 90 degree angle. His life is good, and he knows it.
Lmao my kitten does that too the first day she got here she was super comfortable playful, crawls on my chest and sleeps on me on my pillow anywhere around me also sleeps on her back it’s so cute 😭
@@cjhere2224 nope! He was formerly a stray, but for the last 4 years has been living in a loving home but had to be rehomed sadly so now I have him. He is still constantly snuggling and sleeping beside me- even more than at the start 🥰 he really is just a lovey and affectionate lil baby
Everyday I see my cat sleeping with her belly exposed, my heart gets full knowing she feels comfortable & safe enough to do that 😭and then the loaf & contortionist❤️
I found my kitty abandoned outside under my parent's porch. He was only 8 weeks old (according to the dental molds). He used to only sleep under the bed and spent most of his time there when we first found him. I worked very hard to socialize and show him that the world doesn't need to be scary. He still hides when new people come into the house, but he feels safe around the family. His favorite sleeping spots are the couch where he can watch the birds, a chair, and his cat tree.
@Lee Courtney bro everyone else got that I'm here making a positive statement about hanging out with my cats. You're the only one assuming I was being negative so I think you need to chill.
Omg I never did until my last cat which had long thick fur I would buzz with clippers in summer (I called the cut the “teacup lion” bc he was tan and it was ridiculously cute) but when he would be in loaf mode with that tight cut, I called him “little chicken dinner” 😆
My teenage daughter loves the positions our kitty Jinx gets in when she sleeps. I have multiple (ok a few too many maybe) pics of her laying beside Jinx copying her sleeping positions. It’s too cute!Brought out the little girl that still lives in my teenage daughter’s mind. I thank my kitty often for that.❤
My rescue cat sometimes used to sleep with her paws wrapped round my arm. Very cute. She’d also sleep tucked next to me for a while then relocate until she’d wake me up in the morning. Love your wise words Jackson.
the one i just caught few months ago keeps biting, not in mean way a playful way but still hurts and dosent seem to be learning that that hurts as other cat keeps telling her no not do that and still dose it.

Please never stop making these videos. I am a dog person who never had cats who is now in the process of adopting a kitten and this info is so helpful. I’m telling my bf stuff he never even knew, and he’s the huge cat lover 😝 ive really grown to love and respect these beautiful creatures 😍🥰
I love to hear about people who were not 'cat people', becoming cat people, because some little guy or gal won them over. My girlfriend was the same way when we met, and now she is cat-obsessed and took in a stray of her own. Or I should say, the kitten 'chose' her house as his new home.
Hell yeah. The cat VS dog debate is useless imo. Both animals make great pets, it just depends on what you are looking for in a companion and what your lifestyle is like. Pros and cons for each pet. Dogs may not fit my lifestyle, but I love visiting my friends that own dogs. Pets are just such a gift to this world
@@dl_0002 I'm more of a cat person to be honest big dogs tend to scare me even medium sized I think it's because of a really bad experience I had with one when I was young was at supermarket with my mum and we goy out car and all of a sudden this massive German Shepherd just came racing and barking it bite my hand I had to have stitches and the dog was put down eventually Also cats Just seem to like me I get lots of headbumps and body rubs and some will even sit on my lap :) I love them so much and I like that Thier more independent than dogs yet still want you to love them
the otter/star position is the cuttest thing I've ever saw, I feel like hugging my babies (obiously I won't interrupt their sleep but the feeling is there). Its super adorable
My female is either typical or on her side. The two of them often form a yin rang shape with bellies facing each other. If alone he prefers beings stretched out, not just the front legs but the back ones. He also like sometimes doing that between my legs with his head at my ankles. He normally just lays next to them and uses one a pillow but if I try to get up too early he will flop his whole belly over both calves to trap / claim me. It is nice he cares that much about being with me.
Oh, honestly. I have a meme that says: "If you want to catch a cat, just set out a bunch of boxes. . . results may vary" With the "results may vary" phrase referring to a leopard sitting in a rather small box.
That's actually a great idea for the TNR community! Many cats can be wise to a trapping cage. Obviously though,if they're starving and the food smells enough, they'll not notice the cage. But boxes😺
We adopted a feral kitten at the beginning of quarantine and she was so scared the first few months, she would always hide and be so scared and anxious. Now 6 months later and it is like night and day! She is a Iittle sweet heart! She’ll sleep all sprawled out with her arms forward and legs out behind her- so I guess she’s pretty comfortable. We were so thankful for our older cat he really helped open her up and they are the best of buddies! Love your channel, thank you for all your help and advice✨
I had the same experience scared hiding cat to you’re my daddy and I’m following you everywhere. The accumulation of these bounding experiences are what make cats soooo special. You have to learn their language to be able to communicate & understand them. I lost a cat last year, Boots, he was my first 9 yrs, and I can’t get over losing him. I got anther Penguin he looks a lot like Boots…Al least now when I look around I see another kitty.
Oh man, when you said we're spending too much time watching our cats sleep, I just had flashbacks (seeing this two years later lol) to ALL the visits and phone calls at my vet clinic during the pandemic. I had one guy who called months apart and I fielded his call both times, asking if his dog could specifically drink Poland Spring water. The second time he asked, I felt my soul leave my body lmao
"And don't tell me it's not the cutest thing because that's - MY CAT" HAHA I felt that! My mom always teases me because I am ALWAYS saying "oooo look at him!" "Isn't he handsome?" "Oh my goodness how cute is that?" she acts fake shocked and calls me a cats lady (Which is her fault by the way because she got me a cat when I was 9 when I asked for a hamster. Which I would have gotten board of in a week. But instead she accidentally showed me the awesomeness that is cats)
Our newest family addition is a master contortionist sleeper! He was born a bush baby and has really taken to safe house living. Love your videos, Jackson!
My cats LOVE boxes! and YES, they prefer them to the expensive cat furniture that came in them! They each look perfectly happy and like they are having fun in their boxes, just like a toddler. Cats do know how to have fun.
“I’m sure you have four boxes around the house that you’re dying to throw out but your cat keeps sleeping in them.” I have never been more directly called out!! I bought this plastic storage cart that came in the perfect cave-sized box and my cats love it. I have to keep rotating the box around after the “floor” gets all clawed but it’s on its last leg. So called out but that’s fine by me as long as they’re happy. 😂
i know right. the cardboard box must be recycled eventually. they're not exactly cat proof. kmart has ride-in cat cars here. very cute. but cardboard.... what if they get attached to the cat bus?
We also have boxes that are no longer ours to throw out. Lol last big power outage, our cat claimed the empty ice chest that was open to ‘air out’. We may never get to use the ice chest again... or put it up where it belongs (in storage).
My cat Hobbs loves to play in anything: laundry baskets, empty boxes, closets, under the kitchen table, & His favorite is hiding under the headboard where I can't reach him LOL
My kitty girl once slept with one eye open and it scared me so much. She was almost 11 and had never done anything remotely like that before, and I thought we had a medical emergency on our hands... until she opened both eyes and glared at me for making such a fuss and poking her awake, that is.
Boxes? Oh boxes are treasures in our house! Any box that comes in has sit on the floor for a few days to be enjoyed. They are for fun, playing and sleeping. I think that many cats love boxes. "If I fits, I sits."
A couple of the cats I grew up with also used to like CHEWING on boxes. I think they liked the nice crunchy texture of cardboard, and the noise. Plus the visible tooth marks they left in the flaps. Jingle chewed chunks right off a couple of boxes.
i know cats sometimes enjoy a slight nonmoving “pressure” around while sleeping as it calms them (at least w/ my cat it does) he’s not really a box loving cat but my arm (or a fence outside lol) does a comforting enough job for him to go into a deep sleep pretty quickly😸
@@ursyks5140 Our cat Shadow liked to lay right along the fence in the yard. Not sure if it was the pressure, or more the heat. At the time, the condo we were in had dark brown stained fences, and he'd stretch out against it in the sun, after it had absorbed some heat. He was always a furry heat seeking solar panel.
I may have the only cat in the world who doesn’t “do” boxes. He likes to stretch out in a location he can watch multiple directions at once. He is most definitely the house boss and of course greets all guests.
Mine don't seem particularly impressed with boxes either although my calico shows a small interest for a minute. I once found her squeezed in between a pillow & the pillowcase it was in, cocooned. How she did it I don't know as it was a tight fit. Thing is I looked all around for her & I never thought to look there.
The Maine Coon likes boxes for about a minute or two, or if she wants the advantage to pounce on the Chartreux. After that, she couldn't be bothered. The Chartreux couldn't care less.
I remember the one with a cat sitting, staring at a seeming blank wall. Caption says, 'Cats can see things people can't.' From 40 years ago and I still think of that when my cats do that. 😄
I've got three cats: a really chill dude who sleeps with his entire belly showing (the otter), a really mistrusting old lady who will only sleep curled up or in the half-loaf, and a really confident girl who will sleep in any position and location she darn pleases. She may occasionally bestow the glorious sight of her belly to you, but you'd better not try to touch it, or there will be hell to pay.
My ginger goes full sea otter...the Persian stretches out on her side (sometimes w/paw over her eyes) and the foster kitten does half sea otter with her front legs stretched out above her head. I think they're all very comfortable here!!
Cats are so mervelous...funny, misterious, stoic, discrite, very affectionate and they perceive other dimensions. I have 6 and I adore being with them...thank you Jackson
My cat loves all these positions, depending on where he sleeps, but exposing the belly is his favorite or stretching out so he looks like he's twice as long. 🤣
when my parents' cat gets into drawers? she's got a vet appointment. how does she know to disappear the night before? and when no one says vet without spelling it? cat magic.
This popped up on my feed but super helpful! I got my cat a month ago and he’s already sea otter sleeping 😄 I’m glad he feels safe here. If he decides it’s bed time he’ll shepherd me to bed meowing loudly if I don’t follow quickly enough 😂
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADOPT!!! Black kitties are the best!! They have amazing personalities and are so lovable!! BLACK CATS MATTER TOO!! I say that because black cats don't get adopted as much because of negative stigma's against them because of ridiculous beliefs 🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛😸😻🐈 But don't feed black grapes (All grapes) to cats...they are poisonous☠🙀
@@kleakatrah206 So true. I had a little black cat and she was the best and cutest ever. She talked a lot, and i actually learned exactly what she wanted by her different meows. She also had an extra digit on each paw in the form of thumbs. Please everyone adopt black cats! As mentioned there is a stupid false stereotype about them. Be a good human :)
Have just bought "Total Cat Mojo". My cat, Kory Celesticat, was rescued in Dubai and brought to the UK. After long periods of fostering, and a totally disastrous first adoption, I adopted him 2 months ago. By the way he sleeps, I would make a guess, that he is happy with me. On his own, in his bed or on a chair etc, he sleeps in a modified curl...but more open. When tucked in with me, he is usually stretched out full length, legs stretched out, or sea-ottering or semi-ottering. Another position is semi circle, but back legs straight out next to his face, and forepaws holding his legs and tail neatly tucked around the legs. Occasionally he starts rabbit kicking in his sleep.... unfortunately he usually ends up kicking my ribs.
I grew up with several cats, who often sprawled belly up right in the middle of the room where we'd have to step over or around them to get somewhere. This included when we wanted to vacuum the living room - they'd be like, "vacuum around me, cuz I'm NOT moving !!" And we had one siamese cross who, for 17 years, used to always sleep with one of us - either right next to our face, crowding us off the pillow, or wrapped right around the top of our heads.
You are so likeable, I just know you'd make a great friend who makes for good conversation. I'm grateful for your advocacy, maybe someday the human race will deserve cats thanks to people like you.
I came to say the same as Jane. Making bread is when you get kneaded with their paws n' claws in your chunkier areas of the body, or they do it to a comfy blanket or pillow. 😸😺
Our two kittens are asleep next to me, one is on his side and the other is in the sea otter position. Thank you, you’ve made me feel like I’ve done something right.
We got 2 new kittens about 2-3 weeks ago and we have catified the heck out of our home before we got them. (thanks to your videos and me wanting to be completely prepared) We've seen them both with their belly up. We are so happy about it!!!
I love this guy! Jackson, videos like this and all the others I've watched of you are exactly what I love hearing from you. Thank you for bringing joy and happiness to my kitties because, as a human pet owner, I have learned from you that we can learn from their behaviors as they learn from ours.
When it's cold, I have a sandwich going on. Dog is the smaller spoon, I'm the big spoon, and cat is the teaspoon behind my knees. I never have to worry about being cold at night. Too hot, boy howdy.
My girl sleeps on my legs every night, I love it. She also isn’t super into being IN boxes but loves being ON them. Any new package I get, she climbs onto and curls up. Oh and also she makes me make her a leg fort often under the covers, haha. Best companion I could ask for.
I adopted a stray cat a few weeks ago, and Jackson's videos helped me alot!! I knew NOTHING about cats nor ever had one! Im glad to know that my cat trusts me.
Congratulations on being a cat guardian - you put in the love and understanding and get a wonderful fascinating companion who learns to love and trust you
I always assumed cats like boxes for the same reason as humans can enjoy small spaces: it feels comforting and even a little bit like a hug, so it registers as a safe and cozy place to be. Not necessarily something you look for when you’re nervous, but it makes you feel better anyway. Your mileage will vary, of course!
Just changed over to extra wide dishes so she doesn't have whisker stress. New to me for a little over a week. Want to make her as happy as I possibly can. She's very comfortable with me. I've gotten the belly since she waltzed out of the carrier. Thank you so very much for your you tube awesomeness. Greatly appreciated.
One of our cats, Momo, sleeps in what we call the "chicken Mo" position. It's basically the loaf position but with his elbows all the way out. So cute.
My cat Chewie is my "little roasting chicken" when she does that. I had a cat named Victor years ago that was literally skin and bones when I found him. He would eat a lot, afraid of going without again I suspect. It was difficult to restrict his food, as I had six rescue cats at the time. Eventually he grew to 25 pounds, he did eventually lose 8lbs and I was so proud of him! Anyways, when he was in that position, he was my "little Butterball turkey".
Yes! Knowing your cat is so important!! My cat started sleeping in my drawer, but that’s because I started leaving the drawer open. On his back, legs in the air, enjoying my no-longer-clean laundry... I know he isn’t feeling ill, he just likes laundry.
One of my cats when they went to sleep and the paw went over their eyes we knew they were out for the count-DEEP sleep. We could make noise, touch him, play with his ears, his tail just about anything and he wasn't waking up for anything! We figured he must be feeling VERY safe because if you slept that soundly in the wild, you'd not last a day!
Interesting to see as the belly up and monorail is how one of mine sleeps and she is a highly anxious kitty with everyone but me, yet maybe I misread her as she sleeps like she's super relaxed
My kitty Bella sleeps on me also. Lol...I woke up this morning and she was right on top of me like a lil fur ball. I didn't even know she was there until I opened my eyes.
I fall asleep with one on my chest, then she makes her rounds on other furniture throughout the night including other spots on the bed. One sleeps next to me - in the fall it’s between my husband & me, in the summer it’s on the edge of the bed in front of the fan lol. One sleeps at the foot of the bed using my feet as a pillow and my fourth sleeps on my pillows above either my head or my husband’s head.
Jez sleeps in the crook of my arm or down by my hip if it's warm. Then she gets hot and hope down by my feet and lays next to or on my wedge pillow (we call it pride rock).
lol my cat Jack will literally sleep on my face if I let him, and he's a big boy..I swear if he could crawl inside me he would. last week he slept like a human beside me, his head on my pillow stretched out, was funny and we both fell asleep .
thanks for this, Jackson!!!! I have honestly been saying to my cat, "please don't cry!" because he has started putting his paw over his face or hiding his face to sleep...in the daytime!! what a relief. now that I think of it 🤔 this apartment is never as dark as even I would like it for sleeping at night, so, I can imagine how HE must get tired of the constant light....poor guy...I'll stop with the drama and give him some peace 😹😹😹❣
My brother's late cat used to like sleeping on his head at night, literally. Bro would have 'cat head' hair (smashed down to his scalp) in the morning; it was hysterical! We'd call the cat a 'valley cat' cuz his attitude was "whatever" - you could wrap him around your neck, toss him over the shoulder, put him on bro's chest while watching TV...the cattitude would be "yea, whatever." He wouldn't move, he'd just stay in whatever position he was put. We sure do miss that little rascal!
My current cat's sleeping positions: In my lap with her head on my arm (she LOVES using anything as a pillow) and going into such a deep sleep she drools and her head slides down my arm.😹 Her other favorite...at night she sleeps on my chest with her head on my shoulder (and when I want to sleep on my side sometimes she paws at me to lay back on my back🤣).
I had a cat once who slept so deeply she would sometimes slide right off her cat tower. She would of course wake up and right herself before landing and then look at the cat tower like it had pushed her off.
My cats are around 3 months old and neither of them sit in my lap. Did you have to like put your cat in your lap or did you just let her come to you?? Sorry I've never had cats before and im just so curious about this😂
@@asheliza8596 @Ash Eliza Cats have mind of their own!🤣 Jackson does have a video on this titled "Great Catspectations. If you want to try and since they are young, you can influence them (not force) them to be more friendly. Since they are young they're still learning things and if they are food motivated you can try this: Have their favorite treats and while you are sitting and if they are nearby offer treats and a pet. Do that for a few times then again offer treats while sitting and pick one up and talk soothing to them and pet them...if they squirm to leave...let them jump down...don't force them. If they are forced to to do something it backfires and they don't want to do it. Keep practicing and they may not be the perfect lap cat...but they will learn that being near you is a safe....loving place they will want to be with you more.❤🐱
@@muzerhythm2242 yeah i never force them and i do give treats in bed so they will sleep on my bed, just depends! Last night was cold so they slept with us :) they just dont like sitting on laps for the most part, but ill try to put them on my lap and give them treats and see if I can get them to sit on me lol
@@asheliza8596 Personally, I don't believe in using treats to encourage cats to do anything. It sets a bad precedence. Neither of my cats (Maine Coon and a Chartreux) are lap cats - never were and never will be. Both are seniors with distinct personalities. Just leave them alone - they'll come to you when they're good and ready. With my two, each has odd but funny habits. The Chartreux jumps on the bed at night and spoons me for a while when I'm on my side. He immediately head bunts me looking for strokes. If I stop, he'll head bunt me more. After he's had enough or when I say "OK, that's enough." he'll stop and settle down to the spooning. Should I turn to my back, he moves down to rest next to my feet. After a few moments as I doze off, he just jumps down and finds his own resting place, normally the top of a cat tree. In the morning, when I turn on the TV to watch the news, repeat. He spoons for a little while then jumps off. The Maine Coon doesn't spoon, she'll come to the pillow, lie down next to me and lightly tap my face indicating she wants affection. After a bit of gently stroking her, she'll fall asleep but after a few moments, will jump down to sleep the night on her plush kitty rug with her head in the cat toy box (canvas piece where cat toys live) using it as a pillow. She's actually worn down one side by her sleeping head for so long, it won't stand up straight anymore, lol! Both developed the habit of coming to the side of the bed, loudly complaining up at me if the TV is either too loud or if it's too late. I mean, after all, cats need their beauty sleep too!
My late cat liked sleeping in shoe boxes, even so he was large and stretched them out. I didn't see any fear or anything that made him feel like he needed to be in a secure place, he just found them comforable.
"...when you walk in a room and ask 'How did THAT happen?!" Me, on almost a daily basis - and too often I think I incorrectly assembled my cat. There is no Godly way that a vertebrate animal should be able to have the head facing one way, torso another, and the lower half in yet another direction, while the tail is somehow in a normal position. I know science and biology explain all this but still - nothing prepares me for those moments.
Thanks, Jackson. I've watched your wisdom for years. I still maintain cats are not understandable or predictable because they so frquently changing things up. When our Mohawk was a baby there was no containing him. I used to out a laundry basket over him to give me time to get my chores finished. He immediately figured out how to stick his nose out and shove that basket all over the house. We also tried keeping him off the counters by using a spray bottle. He would right away run to a shoebox in the living room and curl up. We called it the "time out" box. Like a hockey penalty box. Of course he has out grown all these moves because he is now age 9 and is a lazy old man. Usually only moved by the rattle of the cat food bowls. He is a big longlegged boy and once weighed 20 lbs. My daughter and I are both allergic to him but love that he always brings a smile to our face. Thanks again.
My late cat "Squirrell" loved sleeping belly up or in boxes. When he passed, we got another rescue that sleeps curled up (and sometimes a monorail) even when he sleeps with us or in our lap. We also rescued another cat that is a contortionist. I love them all and they know it! :)
I'm this weirdly organized highly OCD cat lover who's never had a pet. I watched all your introduction videos before I got my 6-month-old stray. I'm glad to say that I did a great job of getting my cat assimilated into my house.
That would be EXCELLENT! I'm going to go see if he's done one already, seeing as how I'm coming across your comment 5 months after you wrote it. Your suggestion is quite underrated!
Thank you so much for these informative videos. My cat "Olivia" aka "Sweet Pea", was horrible abused as a kitten and it has been a very long road to gain her trust. However, since she now trusts us, she is a very loving, trusting (with us) cat. She even accepts our dog, now.
My grandmas cat used to bring her her pjs when he decided it was time for bed. He did it when they had guests over to make them leave lol
Too funny!! 🥰
I need that in my life lol
Oh Lord! That is awesome! I bet that was always great at dinner parties! Everyone is enjoying, talking, laughing, and then it all falls silent as The cat walks in dragging Mom’s pjs!

I adopted a completely feral cat last year that had been born and raised in the streets. As soon as I put him inside, he bonded with my two other cats, found my bed and slept with his belly up. That made me cry for days i was so proud. He immediately felt safe with me and that resonates with me always
I know my cat loves me but at night he crawls into a clothes chest to sleep and I’m pretty sure it is because I snore like a buzzsaw
@@nancyessig781 😂😂😂 Me To
I found my cat as a lonely stray kitten. she used to be afraid of EVERYTHING. now she sleeps in the sea otter position most of the time and it makes me feel really proud like I gave her a home that she feels really safe in. :)
You are an awesome person for taking her in! Keep on being awesome!!!
My cat sleeps on my pillows putting his whole body surrounding my head like he's my hat lol we sleep together every night like that I love it 🧡
my kitty did that too
All 3 of our cats take turns sleeping all over my pillow and the pillow behind it. So comforting.
my cat used to climb underneath my head somehow and make me use him as a pillow, I would wake up and immediately worry about him being squashed by my head. He hasnt done it in years but for a while he would do it every night, was nice and soft and warm I must admit. (Would be a nightmare if you had allergies and went to your mates house and their cat did that XD)
My cat does that with me too!! Every night I’ll call him and he’ll lay on my pillow above my head.
Purring is healing
It doesn't sound like you're alone. I live with my two furbabies. They certainly are a lot of company. I talk to them all the time.💕
When mine sleeps on my chest during panick attacks... cured.
❤ so sweet
Yeah, i didnt let my late cat sleep in my bed, because i would toss and turn so much (i have one side of my against the wall and i occasionally wake myself kicking the wall). I just didnt want the poor guy to wake up airborne.☺️
However, i liked taking naps on the floor and didnt much then, so we could chill together that way.
My favorite sleeping position is the "Proper Kitty" where they put one paw on top of the other as if they are crossing their hands. They look like royalty sleeping. :)
They are royalty sleeping!! 😊

Our cat Mittens who looks like Jackon Galaxy's cat Theo,, she sleeps with her front legs or 🐾 paws crisscrossed and looks regal

The cat pic on your wall! I love that cat. So damn beautiful and regal.
My cat was really sick and I didn't knew it. She always slept in the loaf position, which I learned later was to keep pressure off her internal organs. She did an amazing job of hiding her pain. Miss you, Koko Kitty. 🖤
{{{{{hugs}}}}} I'm sorry
RiP Koko Kitty. My cat is crouching, in pain. My other cat did this also before she went to rainbow bridge. I know I'll lose this one soon despite vet treatment. Jackson never mentioned crouching, did he.
Yeah, my late cat (been years) died of stomach cancer. He was too tough for his own good, so we didnt find out until it was advanced.
And since then he does that very often.
Good lesson as to why regular check ups are essential

That’s wonderful 👍🏾

Omg I never did until my last cat which had long thick fur I would buzz with clippers in summer (I called the cut the “teacup lion” bc he was tan and it was ridiculously cute) but when he would be in loaf mode with that tight cut, I called him “little chicken dinner” 😆

since my cat is black, we call it "the burnt chicken" or "the burnt loaf"

I love to hear about people who were not 'cat people', becoming cat people, because some little guy or gal won them over. My girlfriend was the same way when we met, and now she is cat-obsessed and took in a stray of her own. Or I should say, the kitten 'chose' her house as his new home.
Hell yeah. The cat VS dog debate is useless imo. Both animals make great pets, it just depends on what you are looking for in a companion and what your lifestyle is like. Pros and cons for each pet. Dogs may not fit my lifestyle, but I love visiting my friends that own dogs. Pets are just such a gift to this world
@@dl_0002 I'm more of a cat person to be honest big dogs tend to scare me even medium sized I think it's because of a really bad experience I had with one when I was young was at supermarket with my mum and we goy out car and all of a sudden this massive German Shepherd just came racing and barking it bite my hand I had to have stitches and the dog was put down eventually

It's so sweet. I used to have trouble sleeping before I got my cat. Now he lets me know when he wants us to go to bed.
I have a meme that says: "If you want to catch a cat, just set out a bunch of boxes. . . results may vary"
With the "results may vary" phrase referring to a leopard sitting in a rather small box.
That's actually a great idea for the TNR community! Many cats can be wise to a trapping cage. Obviously though,if they're starving and the food smells enough, they'll not notice the cage.
But boxes😺
I love the paw over the eye ! And the crossed paws is cute too !
"I wake up and I'm covered in cats"

This comment made me tear up! I hope your cat and lil kitty are doing well! 💖💖💖
Was she on the street or at a shelter?
Oh man, when you said we're spending too much time watching our cats sleep, I just had flashbacks (seeing this two years later lol) to ALL the visits and phone calls at my vet clinic during the pandemic. I had one guy who called months apart and I fielded his call both times, asking if his dog could specifically drink Poland Spring water. The second time he asked, I felt my soul leave my body lmao
I swear this man has helped me tremendously in understanding my cat and his ways.
I loved that part too!! 😂
Next thing ya know you are buying things for the box - or go to UPS store and see if they have a similar box size in their stock shipping boxes
I manage to keep it down to their favorite one at the time.
Just adopted a 3 yr old boy! He sleeps totally stretched out and in the sea otter position! I'm thrilled he feels so safe and happy with me ❤
My kitty girl once slept with one eye open and it scared me so much. She was almost 11 and had never done anything remotely like that before, and I thought we had a medical emergency on our hands... until she opened both eyes and glared at me for making such a fuss and poking her awake, that is.
I always called it a loaf, my cat’s name is Moot so when she loafs I call her a “mootloaf” (play on “meatloaf”)
ouch! a categorical pun.
That's so cute!!
Thats fantastic.
My cat is called Sophie, so when she sleeps in a loaf my fiancé and I call her Loafie.🥖😂
@@toriless Right, a CATegorical pun, like you would never do that.
My cat literally sleep on his back with one of his paws touching me all the time; It’s absolutely precious and so hard not to pet his belly
Boxes? Oh boxes are treasures in our house! Any box that comes in has sit on the floor for a few days to be enjoyed. They are for fun, playing and sleeping. I think that many cats love boxes. "If I fits, I sits."
Haha yep I used to throw the boxes etc out into recycling straight away, but I missed out on many hilarious moments so I watch them ”fits” now
A couple of the cats I grew up with also used to like CHEWING on boxes.
My first cat was like that. He checked out one box. He never did that again.
I have two cats at home. They don't like boxes either.
The Maine Coon likes boxes for about a minute or two, or if she wants the advantage to pounce on the Chartreux. After that, she couldn't be bothered. The Chartreux couldn't care less.
I can think of nothing more comforting than waking up covered in puuring cats 🥰🙏 So grateful 💙💯 Thank you for everything you do Jackson Galaxy!!

I remember the one with a cat sitting, staring at a seeming blank wall. Caption says, 'Cats can see things people can't.' From 40 years ago and I still think of that when my cats do that. 😄
My cat does side loaf! She’s so cute
My male changes, each day in different. Sometimes different in the same day but always in one of the relaxed options.

Kory Celesticat is easily in the top 3 most awesome cat names I have ever seen.
I grew up with several cats, who often sprawled belly up right in the middle of the room where we'd have to step over or around them to get somewhere. This included when we wanted to vacuum the living room - they'd be like, "vacuum around me, cuz I'm NOT moving !!"
And we had one siamese cross who, for 17 years, used to always sleep with one of us - either right next to our face, crowding us off the pillow, or wrapped right around the top of our heads.
@@LindaGailLamb.0808 haha. Yes, my 3 year old ginger boy sleeps in a semi-circle around the top of my head on my pillow 😻
You are so likeable, I just know you'd make a great friend who makes for good conversation. I'm grateful for your advocacy, maybe someday the human race will deserve cats thanks to people like you.
In S.Korea, the loaf position is called "making bread", we say the cat is making bread, cause it really looks like a loaf. lol
In the Midwest, we say making bread is when they kneed on you with their claws like they are kneeding dough
I came to say the same as Jane. Making bread is when you get kneaded with their paws n' claws in your chunkier areas of the body, or they do it to a comfy blanket or pillow. 😸😺
Domino has started sleeping like a sea otter!! I'm so glad that means she's settled in
Anytime you see their belly they are being vulnerable.
Our two kittens are asleep next to me, one is on his side and the other is in the sea otter position. Thank you, you’ve made me feel like I’ve done something right.
I call the paw on the eye, “the paparazzi” like my cat is saying “no pictures please”
*pawparazzi
@@brittw9953 was about to say the same lol
Yes I have one who does that a lot it's like he's saying no bright light cause he only does it during the day.
I remember at the zoo as a kid, one of the big male gorillas was sleeping on his back with forearm over his eyes.
My cat does all of these depending on her mood. Shes always adorable too.
We got 2 new kittens about 2-3 weeks ago and we have catified the heck out of our home before we got them. (thanks to your videos and me wanting to be completely prepared) We've seen them both with their belly up. We are so happy about it!!!
You make us fall in love with our cats all over again! Thank you.
Hello Rachel how’s the weather over there
I just love him!!! He's such a cat nerd like myself and I can appreciate that.
I love this guy! Jackson, videos like this and all the others I've watched of you are exactly what I love hearing from you. Thank you for bringing joy and happiness to my kitties because, as a human pet owner, I have learned from you that we can learn from their behaviors as they learn from ours.
Im the big spoon, my black cat Oscar is the small spoon
Peaches is the teaspoon, Im a tablespoon and my boyfriend is a big spoon 🐯
Me too! It makes me the happiest cat daddy in the world to sleep like that.
I have a black cat named Oscar too!!
My cat sleeps right in front of my face
When it's cold, I have a sandwich going on. Dog is the smaller spoon, I'm the big spoon, and cat is the teaspoon behind my knees. I never have to worry about being cold at night. Too hot, boy howdy.
My girl sleeps on my legs every night, I love it. She also isn’t super into being IN boxes but loves being ON them. Any new package I get, she climbs onto and curls up. Oh and also she makes me make her a leg fort often under the covers, haha. Best companion I could ask for.
facadesbanned same here! It actually feels so nice when i have cramps.
Smoke, my stray from 2 weeks ago sleeps like that all the time, mostly when I'm in the room I think. Super cute & adorable
I adopted a stray cat a few weeks ago, and Jackson's videos helped me alot!! I knew NOTHING about cats nor ever had one! Im glad to know that my cat trusts me.
His videos are wonderful with helping to understand your cat.
Congratulations on being a cat guardian - you put in the love and understanding and get a wonderful fascinating companion who learns to love and trust you
Same! i just adopted a stray last week and ive learned so much! it feels good to know she likes me so far..
My cat likes to snuggle me and it’s the best thing ever. I feel so blessed!
My cat loves watching you when I play your videos
I also refer to the "loaf" position my cats lays in as the "chicken sitting on her eggs". Too cute
Me too
Definitely looks like nesting. Mine has slept on my chest like that since adoption.
Same here ✋🏻
That's also my favorite. I love how their legs look when the are curled inwards like that.
We call it mother hen in my house
Yes! Knowing your cat is so important!! My cat started sleeping in my drawer, but that’s because I started leaving the drawer open. On his back, legs in the air, enjoying my no-longer-clean laundry... I know he isn’t feeling ill, he just likes laundry.
My kitten loves to sleep on her back and when I rub or simply just put my hand on her belly. It makes me happy that she trusts me this much.
Waking up covered in cats, Jackson? You're living my dream life.
We’ve had our kitten now for a day and he was sea ottering today during one of his cat naps! Super happy to know he’s feeling secure 😸
One sleeps on me, literally on me.
The other sleeps beside me, nestled into a groove.
One of my others sleeps at the bottom of the bed, always
I'm getting a black cat soon (hopefully if everything goes as planned) and I'm currently binge watching jackson
Did you get a cat?
Cutee
thanks for this, Jackson!!!!
My cat likes to sleep above me on top of my headrail "monorailing" when I'm sleeping. It's super cute.
Found this video while lying in bed, my new kitten right next to me sleeping belly up. Definitely brought a smile to my face to find out the meaning
Hello 👋 I’m really impressed with your comment if you don’t mind friendship where are you from
Is Theo Canadian? Coz he's got a maple leaf on his belly - adorable! ❤️
My cat is a contortionist 😂 I’m constantly amazed at how she twists like that, it’s super endearing because I know she feels safe.
Truth! :D
I always called The Loaf "The Kompact Kat" position.
Lmao I feel that
I call it the "Mayor of Pawtucking" myself.
I've always called it Duck position.
We call it submarine kitty. :)
I would love to see a Jackson “squish that cat” reaction video lol
That would be EXCELLENT! I'm going to go see if he's done one already, seeing as how I'm coming across your comment 5 months after you wrote it. Your suggestion is quite underrated!
Thank you so much for these informative videos. My cat "Olivia" aka "Sweet Pea", was horrible abused as a kitten and it has been a very long road to gain her trust. However, since she now trusts us, she is a very loving, trusting (with us) cat. She even accepts our dog, now.
Hello I’m really impressed with your comment if you don’t mind friendship please where are you from
I’m so sorry that happened to your baby, I’m glad she feels safe and loved now. 💕
One of my favorite cat sleeping position is what I like to call the "kitty croissant." Our kitties like to sleep in the side curl aka kitty croissant.
