Is this only for the UK ? I was gonna buy the clay but it seems to only be for the UK and not the US
glad to know that Kaolin in clay/paste would be better for thinning hair! didnt know that
but are pomade tend to be oily than clay?
Please suggest me which wax or gel i use to keep my head scalp cool by menthol or any ingredients used in wax or gel that keeps my scapl cool 24x7

Great video. I use pomades, the one i use is nothing special though, just cheap old spice pomade, high/medium hold and matte finish. Looks real nice!
Which one would you recommend for a completely bald man? They all just make my head look shiny.
Bumble and bumble wig premium
Just water
I used to work at a cosmetic counter and bald men would come in all the time complaining about this. There are mattifying lotions and primers out there. They are mostly intended for the face but you could easily use them on your head. The only downside is that you will go through them a lot faster so the cost may add up. Also, they could irritate your scalp if you have sensitive skin, but it’s worth a shot.

Damn that hairstyle using the cream really suits you. I would love it if you make a tutorial for styling that hairstyle

I just recently decided to keep my long "covid hair" (haven't been to a barber in ages), and this video was truly helpful. I have thinning at the crown, so I appreciate your mentioning how these products affect that. Thank you.
I've always used gel. Never thought of using pomade. Looks a thousand times better compared to gel.

As far as your hair goes based on this video I'd say creams should be your go to. The loose "flowy" styles work well with you.
As for me, I'm a paste and sometimes clay kind of guy for casual days. Lately though I've been loving Crystal Lake from Shear Revival.
All about the cream too. It felt good!
What's cream? Do you mean wax?
This was very informational, and being a person with short hair, it's made me value styling a lot more
Thank you, really descriptive and informative video on different hair styling products. The visual examples are just awesome.

I love matte clay, it is super easy to use and it looks very clean and natural without the gloss.
Does matte clay not make my hair look thin and shiny?
@@clydealinas1914 Clay is for a matte finish, it's not supposed to shine. If you want shine then use pomade

Great video showing the uses/styles for each type of hair product!
Glad you enjoyed it, Austin.
Very informative and I love the editing of the video and the different titles and texts you have used! Great quality videos
The pompadour you styled with the pomade was on point! 👏
Thank you for this! As a female I love to wear my hair in a top bun and my favorite styling cream is discontinued. I think I’ll go for the sumotech or the pomade. My aim is to keep my flyaways down and I have an abundance of fine hair! Thanks again 🤓👍🏼
Hello I’m also a girl. Which product did you end up using. I want to keep my flyaways and frizz down as well. But I have thick, black hair. Which would you recommend?
@@ninjamara2522 Hi there, I ended up getting American crew Pomade which is a water based product with high gloss. I just put a tiny amount on my fly aways and baby hairs.I also really liked Bumble and Bumble Thickening Cream Contour as it reduces frizz. Hope this helps

Like that you have a full head of hair now(sides grown out). Looks better on you Robin. Great video.👍
my goodness, this is so well made
Thank you ! This really cleared it up for me as my old pomade wasn't doing the trick anymore.
I’m having a slicked back hairstyle at the moment and I can’t tell you how much a pomade has been helpful.
Great video Robin,
I really love your content. Especially, since you give great advice for guys with thin hair.
Thanks very much!
I love pomades! After I got my first Brylcreem, that’s the thing I’ve been using most of my time
I've just got short hair after years and before I never used to style it. So this is exactly the video I was lookimg for
hair type is a big factor in what works best for you too, its always good to try an array of products

@@Danny-or4gw Pomade Is Better, USE POMADE
Cream ftw!!
My hair is fine. Thus pomade, gel is not meant for it. As for cream, its the best. It naturally hold the hair.
Thanks for the in-depth hair tips, now I have a better idea of what to get at the store and try out the hair creams and clay products
Hey Robin, thanks for the detailed descreption of these types of hair products. Which one would you recommend for medium-length wavy hair? I'm thinking about either clay or cream but not sure which would be the good choice (if any). Do you have any recommendations?
I can't describe to you how uncomfortable your smirk makes me feel
And the way he turns his head
LOL
Exactly
Ikr, wtfffffff
Yes, it is cringe
Great video Robin. Pomades are my go to, but nowadays there's so much versatility within the pomade world that the lines have been blurred. We have traditional oil based (Murrays, Lockharts), traditional water based (Suavecito), unorthodox water based (flagship, grim grease, nostalgic grooming s/wb), but it's a huge reason why I love it. I got my hair cut recently and I'm rocking a shorter more textured look and have been using waxes and clays or a cream pomade like Gray Ghost by Shear Revival. Excellent stuff.
Exactly! The lines are totally blurred. It's just about finding what works for you.
Hi, what pomade do you recommend I should buy? I’m looking to give me a wet look and to restyle my hair throughout the day. Currently growing my hair and use jojoba oil twice a week. Thanks. I’m looking for a water based pomade btw.
I use cream. My hair is curly Type 2 ( wavy). My favorite cream is for wavy and curly hair called Hobby. I just bought another cream called Fonex with pro vitamin B5. I live in Turkey and they have some products for curly hair here. I found these are pretty good for my hair. I like using cream now whereas when my hair was shorter I used pomade. Now that I am growing my hair a little longer the cream is better.
It's really all about sculpting pastes right now, they vary greatly, which of these do pastes come closest to? The pomade, clay, cream, or gel? As a convert of the V76 Vaughn Sculpting Paste I think it's really a versatile fiber pomade. And I'm in love with the Cremo Pomade found everywhere, not a rockabilly greaseball look at all and works so easy through hair and easy to manipulate texture/ separation, just sticky enough to maintain hold throughout day, but still nice to run hands through. These 21 and 10 $ products are so far above much more expensive ones. Brands really do call the product whatever they want as there are no clear definitions. Glad to see glues have gone away mostly.
I have a question about clay. Do you need to get hair dampened before you apply it? I normally use volumizing mouse. But it gets my hair so shiny and I want to achieve a matte look. Thank you!
Hey!!! I was wondering if you could ever do a tutorial on a beach hairstyle any time soon?
Yes its called Wavewash! This look is obtained by actually swimming in the water...goodluck!
Why would you need to style your hair if you’re going to the beach?
Love the tips, I will be using the information on an upcoming video! I'll be sure to link your channel!
Man you make it so easy for me !
Thank you so much
Hey Robin! Amazing videos as always, truly impressed with all this amazing content. Pretty much all my men’s style ideas are coming from you. Love it!
I am using the crystal lake revival pomade right now(actually left a review on website) would you suggest the clay or sumo tech from b&b as a replacement or something to do a bit different with hair? Just curious what you think. Thanks as always!
Thanks very much, Sean. This is so great to hear.
I love Crystal Lake and it's totally different from the Bb. products. I'd keep it and add on, if possible. Sumotech is a great product and so versatile. I think you'd like that.
Robin James - thank you Robin, I tried to order sumotech to give that a go, unfortunately it appears bumble doesn’t ship to the US. Is there a place that can ship to the US, no discount code obv but it’s cool, or a different but similar product you could recommend ?
Thanks as always!
OK, found this video by accident. Been using gel since the 80's when I was a teenager. Wife recently gave me a sample of Fiber Cream. WHOA what a difference. Adios gel. This video confirms it.
Thank you for explaining the differences between the products. I oscillate between pastes and pomades.
hey man i just found your channel and thank you for the content, basic gel has always been my go to and then ive tried the wax and pomade recently but i had no idea what i was doing, the videos help a lot
these head shots are hilarious, good info
Thanks for this Robin I use paste to build volume & pomade for da slick look #peteandpedro👍🏼
Sounds like a great style!
Thanks really needed this info! I was always using cheap gells back in the day and wanted to upgrade my hairproducts. I didn't really know what type op product fits which hairstyle. First I tried pomede which was already a big difference. But since my hair is very thin, I'm gonja try a clay next.
I have beautiful blonde hair. If I put anything in it it looks thinner and oily. Blonde hair never looks good oily IMO. I tried your cream method, I had actually threw the can of cream in the trash can. I watched your video because you applied the cream when your hair was dry. I dug it out of the trash can and applied to to my hair when it was dry as you did and my hair looks amazing. it holds its place and it’s loose at the same time. Giving me more volume and control. thank you! ❤❤❤❤

This vid blew my mind! I’m on for pomade. I learned this today!!!
what to use for curly messy hair ..if hair is dry curly unable to comb can pomade temporary straightning
straighten your hair
Or just get some curling cream to enhance those curls and make them stand out. I say rock your natural hair.
Its not fair. You can use any kind of hair product and still look good. Nice vid btw. Favorite hair product for me has got to be water based pomade with hair mousse. I switched recently with just hair mousse and hair spray to save me some time in the morning 😁
Perfect information ,and right to the point, and quick. Thank you.
What’s the best product I should get for something that feels like it has no product in the hair ? I have semi long hair which I’m going to slick back but I want something that feels really smooth and almost like I have no product in my hair at all.
I do the same styling. This is what I do.
Tonic + foam + oil
Cream
Paste
Powder
These 4 options leaves a feeling with no product and I rank them for you.
Great video, there are so many hair products for sale, these 'back to basics' like videos really help to show what the differences are. 🍚🍙💷
I use water-based ; pomades, clays, creams, then I use either my fine or wide tooth comb to do a side part, then I use hairspray, because I'm someone who doesn't like to keep touching or looking at how my hair is throughout the day, so I use it to make sure it is in the same position as how I left it in. 🚿
Thank you. AND great tip you do!
Which water based pomade do you recommend?

Hey Robin! I was wondering if you could give me a quick tip: I have medium-long hair, which generally is quite dry, and all-over-the-place. It doesn't fall, so its almost half an afro. What can I do to just make it less dry, and let it fall a little better? Thanks!

Thanks very much. Good to have you.
I'm really thinking about getting a clay and trying it out. Seems perfect for my hair and hairstyle. Sorta leaning towards nostalgic grooming clay, but eh, who knows.
You have such perfect hair I'm jealous! Lol
I’m not quite ready to shave my head yet but I’m receding and thinning out. Going to try the clay or cream. Thanks. Ur hair looks amazing to me.
What product is best for longer hair (shoulder length) ? Usually I just put some sea salt spray in, but would be nice to have a more formal look as well.
Last on my list of things to try is cream. I'm hoping this is the one. I'm super dumb with hair, it's really not my forte. I have similar hair to Robin. Gel was a no-go as it left my hair solid and too "wet" looking. Clay seemed to be too dry on my hair, and it is a bit hard to get out(at least the one I tried). Pomade was very much like gel, and like Robin said, it isn't good for every day. It seemed to make my hair look oily but dry when washed out. Praying for cream to be the miracle I need! 🙏
Really appreciate your videos, they are huge for clueless folks like me!
