Yes, it's always amazing in the beginning, but after awhile, it gets old and boring, and there is a very good chance of divorce, and if there is kids involved, it makes things way worse. If you want a child, you should just do surrogacy. That's what I plan on doing, that way I don't have to deal with the woman. As for women, you can do the same thing, just go to the sperm bank and get pregnant that way.

A big reason why I am hesitant about marriage is because I saw what my father went through. My mother and my sister did no treat my father with the respect he deserved.
And his second wife cleaned him out in the divorce. He lost his house and most of his retirement money. He had to go back to work in his 70s.
This was a man who served his country in Vietnam and worked his ass off his whole life. Heaven only knows how many lives he saved in Vietnam with his skills as a doctor.
As his son I tried to help him as much as possible in his final years but he was very proud.
He died sad and alone and living in squalor.
That man deserved better.

No it does not worry me. But it is sweet when they do. I have had boyfriends that were alpha male types where I was submissive and would seek out THEIR approval. But in my experience those type guys are closed off and unwilling to open up. In fear they might come across as weak, perhaps? In my current relationship I would say I have the upper hand. My post was written two years ago. Recently, two people have given me a weird look cuz I told them I (having turned 62) recently qualified for Social Security, followed by "You don't look it!" MADE My Day! LOL

What I didn't tell her: I knew of couples who divorced (Mom divorced Dad when I was three, BTW), and the husband was required to pay alimony (Mom didn't get alimony OR child support...didn't want it...she just wanted to be rid of my Biological Father). I knew of couples who were married but argued...A LOT! I remember thinking, "Why would I want to put myself in such a Situation?!"
My age when I said those words to Mom? 13, as in Eighth Grade.

64 and never married. When I became of marriage age it was no longer for life like earlier generations. The biggest reason for not doing it was I wasn't losing my freedom.

I was only married for 3 years, and the indentured servitude lasted for decades. When I finally received my notice in the mail that my child support obligation was completed, it was like winning the lottery. I literally ran around the house hooting and hollering. For you guys being pressured to marry and start a family, consider this: what kind of woman do you think you're going to get when you're usurious child support payments have you sleeping in a friend or family members spare room, and driving a klunker car? The courts usually rake men over the coals, no matter the reason the marriage ends. She can take the kids to Disneyland with your and her new boyfriend's money, along with expensive Xmas gifts. Meanwhile, you look like a lame parent, spending so much time working just so you can swing a trip to McDonald's with the kids on your 1 day off. And for the rare cases of long term marriages, you can actually see the look of the walking dead in the guys eyes. A guy who's right most of the time, yet hasn't won an argument in decades.

When I was a kid, growing up with the traditional way of eventually having a wife, house, kids etc. Now as a young adult seeing what the world is like, how it's messed up, how women of my age truly are, it's not worth it. There was a time where divorce was frowned upon, now it's a ticket to easy money. I want to be the best me I can be, pursue my dreams, enjoy life...not being nagged. I want to be a real man, as I've seen women say they don't need men, I've learned I don't need you either. There's no value in marriage anymore, you marry, one minute all is good. The next you're divorced, she takes all your shit, if you have kids, she takes them too-what's the point. Few years back, working at my part time job-I get married customers, men telling me enjoy single life, or warning me to not get married, how they got a raw deal of it. At first I just kind of laughed with them, now I realize how serious it is with lots of truth backing it up.

I have been a very good husband. No cheating or lying. I can honestly say that my two sons are the best thing from my marriage. If I could have had them without a woman, I would have. You can live with ridicule and criticism or give up half your shit on a cop’s salary. Just don’t do it.

What I said was that if one's motivation to accept the status quo is to have a 'happy time' then it is unlikely to be the case.
Moreover, there would be no guarantee that such a person would find themselves either retaining more sanity, or being less lonely as a result of entering into a contract that they know to be unfair in advance with another human being.
Marriage guarantees neither happiness, nor companionship; it is merely a contract which today, virtually guarantees the woman more rights than the man in most cases under the laws of most countries and in most jurisdictions.

Just because you have a strong perspective doesn't mean it applies to everyone. You can argue this point into the ground but it will not change the fact that there are just some people that not only want a marriage but are happy in them. Those people enjoy being married.

These men, like me, have firmly resolved to cling tenaciously to their freedom; and to cherish it, protect it, and defend it for the rest of their lives.

For men, marriage and child-rearing have become shackles, chains, and slavery; where women are the slave drivers. Any female who compels a man to marry her against his will (or who "baby traps" a man), is not acting out of love and devotion. She is acting out of selfishness, greed, manipulation, codependency, insecurity, cruelty, and possibly misandry. My friends, don't let any female deceive you by telling you that having a child together will bring "meaning" to the relationship. IT WON'T! It will only put the relationship to test. These females will often use your children as a tool for manipulation against you. I have seen many good-hearted men have their lives destroyed by evil women who commit such despicable acts. Worst of all, these females rarely have any remorse for the cruelty, the sins, and the evil that they commit. All these things destroy a man's life!
Therefore, DON'T BLAME MEN FOR NOT WANTING TO GET MARRIED!
If you do want to have kids then my advice would be to wait until your 40's. Enjoy your freedom, explore your interests, and become financially secure in your career. There'll be plenty of time afterwards to have a family. Also, don't marry her until you've been together for at least 5 or 6 years, that way you'll be able to find out what the long term relationship will be like without the legal baggage of marriage.
webdesignerguy Enjoying your life sure sounds good, however, life is full of variables, there are not many women you'd be compatible so you may miss a good opportunity. 40 is not an easy time to have kids, also quality of your sperm will drop by that time, that's for sure.
There are also people who function better in steady relationship then without it.
I agree about prolonged period of relationship before marriage, up to a point where it becomes kinda like marriage and you can get a clue what kind of a wife she would be.
Never let them force you to marriage before long relationship. Unless you are very religious type of person waiting until you are married to have sex is bad choice, especially with the variety of contraception available.
I am not saying to pressure a girl who is not ready to have sex... If your mind is just focused on sex and can't wait then your decision making ability is clouded. Most guys can't pick up girls in bars and practice variety so many would even marry mainly for sex but convince themselves otherwise.
I am just warning people about being pressured to marry to have sex, there is no rational reason for that - unless she sees her virginity as some kind of selling point, which is huge red flag right there.
She should be ready to be with you before you are legally bind together, if she doesn't trust you not to dump her after sex it's probably reflection of her as she must be not be trust worthy person either.
I am just saying can't put age on it, people have different preferences and ideas of life, but I'd advise against marrying before 25 and before you have had relationship for at least 4 years in the meantime practicing all aspects of married life well before you actually marry someone.
