Instead of "ocean" or "sea" burst you could try a honeyburst table - it would be interesting to put something in a similar palette against the walnut too, it's exceptional walnut and even if the solid or burst blue can't beat it maybe a "honey" or "tea" burst could.
I never leave comments but this one hit home a bit. There's something to be said for versatility and proving a point. I commend that fully. But to a person who thinks that finding the artistic capacity of the wood and creating something beautiful with it is art in itself. Wood carving or whatever other form of raw talent you "dont" have is not overshadowed by being able to take Walnut and create something worth what you ask for it. What's more, to say that Wood must be colorful to be good is laughable, that's what metal is for. Woodwork is to showcase the wood, hence the reason most carpenters use coatings that don't alter it's color. The beauty is in the material and the ability to shape that material not the carcinogens you cover it with.
That's what I figured. The blue is incredible, but the people looking for that color on wood aren't paying buying tables at that price. They're buying guitars.
Yeah i think the blue one is super cool but I start think if I had that table where would I put it and I came to the conclusion it’s just way too much table like I would have to theme a whole room around that table to the point the room would be around the table rather than the table in the room and I just ain’t got the sauce for all that
My listening room is all blue and gold decor. A really swanky place to drink bourbon and listen to records. That blue one would have been perfect. But I can see why the walnut would be a more versatile piece for a variety of settings. Thanks for telling us the prices.
I wonder how much the colour impacted things. A bright blue colour will have trouble selling, as a lower number of bidders will lower the ending bids. Most commonly wanted colours are neutral colours: the usual white, grey an black, along with darker tones of blue, turquoise and green. Blacktail Studio added colour and did great work with that and the work as a whole, but the choice of colour itself is a vital step he didn't linger on long enough. I don't know if that would have bumped up the price or not...

Brown. Hands down. The reason walnut/wood pieces will always sell for more is they are able to fit a wider array of décor styles and color pallets. Bright blue like in the video is niche. At best. And, much easier to come by for affordable prices at major retailers. You can't get hardwood tables, let alone ones with resin inlays and pours, at Walmart or Lowe's. That said, I think both pieces turned out beautifully and you really elevated the results with those amazing finishes.
The blue table looks amazing between the two leather chairs... however, I'd assume that average high end customers (not art collectors) would prefer natural wood colors over flashy dyes. It'll be interesting to see the bids 🎉 You picked the perfect wood for the blue dye table, though!
Brown...and I'm originally from the midwest!!! You're correct about the blue and the coasts. I sold a place I owned in Sausalito a few years ago. When remodeling it, I had four panel solid oak doors installed, custom maple kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, custom oak fireplace surround and mantel, and oak crown mouldings. Sold the place to a native Californian and first thing he did was paint everything white and painted the walls gray and black!!!! YIKES!
Blue or brown, I can't say which is gonna sell more. However, I'm absolutely thrilled with the path you took with the blue. Sanding after the dye to highlight the grain was an excellent choice and it came out awesome.
Cam, don’t sell yourself short, art is about perception. I took shop like 40 decades ago and haven’t built anything since. I can tell you that I find your ideas and creations inspiring.
Blue is low key so unique and pretty. I didn't expect the wood to shine through the blue dye like that. I do think the walnut will sell for more and is also pretty but that blue is something else.
Blue might actually win, considering how unique it is, and the fact that it's all for charity. I'm also biased because that blue table is one I'd love to own 😆The way you sanded the top just enough so that the color of the natural wood peeks back through the blue was such a good idea. The way the grain kind of...wobbles? If that makes sense? makes it look like a still image from above of shallow water along a beach. Truly a wonderful bluejob (: 💙
I think the blue looks stunning! So does the brown, I would absolutely love a dark red colored table like that, would go with other pieces I have in my room, colors are great but I feel like are harder to sell to people who aren’t specifically looking for a colored table
A dark red or a dark green would be my preference. Other colors would have to have a very specific decor, more non-nature artsy with a specific color palette. Annndddd that’s why I end up with a variety of natural wood furniture and decor accidentally. 😂
Blue table is iconic, and your classic walnut will sell for more, but we all have that part of us which WANTS to have the quilted blue more... Great work as always!
Pretty humble carpenter! Pretty sure half of his viewers skill won’t stack up against this guy, but it refreshing to hear a down to earth and very amicable contents creator producing a kicka** product for a great cause like this! Kudos

Long time lurker here. I'm loving the blue, not really my style but reminds me of one of my dad's bass guitars. It's green and as a child, I always thought it was velvet trapped in glass. Keep going, love the spirit of the challenge!

Beautiful work as usual Cam. Just wanted to say you really are one of the elite RUclips creators. Perfect balance of personality, humour, content, quality and craftsmanship. Well done on your well deserved success. All the best from the UK.
"Cam Anderson, the blue table looks beautiful, but in my opinion, the walnut one turned out even better since I prefer the natural color of wood, no matter the type. I’ve been watching your videos, and your work is outstanding! I’m sure there are people like you here in Brazil, but I haven’t met anyone yet. Thank you for sharing such enjoyable content to watch. Wishing you much success!"
Don’t sell yourself short about thinking of yourself as an artist! What you are doing is certainly art in my eyes. Just like how a well designed pcb or elegant math equation is art, your pieces are both functional and beautiful!
The fire and epoxy table is probably one of my most favorite pices of furniture ive ever seen. You knocked it out of the park with that one. Someone is going to be very lucky and happy.
i would like to see another with two phases to the epoxy part. first phase small back lit orange and red embers and second phase clear coat smooth surface.
Brown. Dude, beyond being a woodworking wiz, you are killing the business part. The n3 nano, the epoxy workshop, custom tools, the creator course. I'm a huge fan of the projects you do but I'm even more impressed with your business mindset.
You are way more skilled than you give yourself credit for. I had a real problem choosing between the blue table and the natural wood finish table. Blue is my favorite color and the blue one would fit right into my blue and white decor scheme. Conversely, I love the wood finishes that you do and that’s one reason I watch your videos. Everything you make is so magnificent!
Brown - I love the brown one, but also the blue one is really cool. The thing that I love more is your dedication to documenting and commenting the whole process. That's such a tedious work and you're nailing it every single video. I really hope this also is kind of fun for you.
Cam you have such an amazing story. The quality you bring is outstanding and inspiring to the viewers. Thank you so so much for sharing your passion. I find your videos fun to watch and educational. At the same time I enjoy how you take on challenges and mishaps. I really enjoy watching you!!!
I feel like I would be more likely to purchase the walnut, but would be more likely to notice and compliment the blue table in someone else's home. They're both beautiful!
My partner and I have set our life goals to “buy a table from Cam” in order to know we’ve made it big. We love your work ethic, your art, humor, and humility. An evening with your channel feels like an evening with a very talented friend!
@cecilbigman4250 that was a douche comment, Cecil. Oxford dictionary says: 1. Either of a pair engaged together in the same activity. 2. Either member of a married couple or established unmarried couple.
The Walnut is BY FAR the better looking piece but the blue doesn't look too bad either. You do some awesome work my friend. Came for the woodworking, stayed for the HILARIOUS sense of humor.
I don't know if you've sold them. But I'd bet on the blue. It's original and it's something new on the channel. People are more interested in exclusive stuff. A lot of love and respect from Morocco. I've always enjoyed watching your videos and I never felt like skipping any part. 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm genuinely really into the blue! Very funky and unique! I feel as though the aqua fade could have been a little more saturated, but it would be really cool to see you use more colour in your wood working
Brown table is my favorite but i know that the blue table is definitely someone’s table. It feels like it’s made for someone and idk who but I’d love to meet them! nice tables though, both are absolutely stunning
Blue. Brown. Both 😊. That blue table is fabulous. You talked about a self-selecting sample in a previous video, & I think that is bound to apply here. Talk of painting wood is practically blasphemy to woodworkers. But artists and designers appreciate colour for its own sake, too. I’d much rather own a stunning blue table crafted out of wood than a table of the exact same colour made of acrylic (?) or particle board on some production line somewhere. I am not a woodworker, as you may guess. I am a writer/ amateur artist/ amateur designer who is addicted to this channel and binge-watching every video 😂
I generally consider paint on the wood as sacrilege or just bad taste as it hides the natural beauty of the veins. But because the semitransparent blue paint doesn't entirely hide the veins, the table looks gorgeous. It changed my mind about painting a piece of wood. Thank you for the inspiration, knowledge and entertainment.
I would say you're still correct when it comes to actual paint on stain grade wood being sacrilegious. Luckily the blue tint he used here was more of a stain, so you can still see the wood grain.
This right here is one of the numerous reasons I watch and subscribe to your channel, Cam. Your humble and subtly humorous approach to things is every bit entertaining as it is a learning point. As for an ‘average’ woodworker, personally I find above all it’s your attention to detail that truly elevates you well above that category. Another gem of a video, thank you sir!
Hey Cam, just wanted to say I'm a big fan of yours. I don't do any woodwork whatsoever, but I watch all your videos. You figured out what it takes to generate millions of views - creativity, genuineness (and yes, you talking adds so much personality and interest in these videos), humor, and just all the beautiful and detailed work in general. I think I'm part of the many, but these videos are always something I look forward to (to watch between work breaks or sleep). Just wanted to share that! Also, if you do any future charity videos, would you be open to the Dravet Syndrom Foundation? One of my closest friends just found out his 11-month old daughter has Dravet syndrome. It has no cure, and 20% of children don't make it to adulthood. Since it impacts such a small minority of children, it doesn't get the attention it needs. Just wanted to throw it out there, and appreciate what you're doing for the Make a Wish foundation! All the best, Anthony.
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!! The use of colored stain is spectacular and I look forward to seeing you use more color in your projects!!!!! Some of the techniques that you used for this project are used in pottery-making. A hollowed out bade (on a plate or mug) is called a "foot"
Blue table turned out absolutely totally bespoke and the depth of colour on timber was brilliant, not taking anything away from the walnut table again a stunning piece. Great work.
I truly believe this is a perfect channel. Exactly what youtube was made for. Amazing audio and video quality portraying outstanding craftsmanship. We should all take a moment and realise how much of a privilege it is to have access to this level of insight into the creative process. Thank you Blacktail Studio. Honestly, thank you.
Reading that comment, completely shoving your ego aside and just trying the idea shows how incredibly strong your character really is. Awesome work, as always!
Blue. And I have to say, I’m stunned that that is my opinion. Had you gone with a solid blue, I think it easily would have been the walnut table, but the texture you gave the blue table makes it absolutely gorgeous. I am pretty conservative when it comes to taste in furniture; in my world, most of the time different is not necessarily good. In this case, you did your work, Make-A-Wish, and the blue table all proud. I appreciate all of your videos, and I especially appreciate anyone who gives their time as freely as you do just to help (and entertain) others. Kudos to all that you do in life and may you be rewarded many times over for your generosity. BTW, don’t sell yourself short on your skills. Those with great skills, but no heart to try anything new play a second fiddle to those with decent skills that are always willing to try something new.
Love your attitude to react to a comment you could've easily been defensive about by taking it as an opportunity to learn. Speaks levels to who you are as an artist and woodworker.
The brown is classic while the blue table is fun. Great job on both! Personally, I would only paint pine. With the price of walnut, I’d want’t to show off those lovely grain patterns and beautiful hues. Thanks for making the video!
With the grain of the wood and the blue dye, it makes the blue table look like it is made out of a piece of the ocean. Both tables look great, but i love the blue dye table. I like the texture you put on the bottom of both tables, if you were the make a table top with that texture and dye it blue, it would resemble water a lot i think. Ofcourse you would have to fill it with resin to make it flat. A lot of creativity is possible i think. Greetings from the Netherlands! Love your videos
I think both of the tables are awesome! In perspective I think both of the tables is going to fit in nicely in a home with the right decor. The time it took to make both of those tables was flawless and are more valued in how much you care about you’re viewers. Amazing job!
Brown - I really thought I would hate the blue one, but I actually really like it. I am a natural wood color fan, and I still think the brown one will sell for more, but I hope I am wrong. I am glad the viewer questioned your color choices and that you rose to the challenge. The way the blue makes the maple grain pop is just incredible. Another phenomenal video.
The moment you tossed the tape measurer from mis calculating was so genuine. Anyone who has does anything crafty has felt that same feeling. Thank you for keeping this in the video. You are now more human. Still a woodworking wizard though.
Ive worked with imported and domestic veneers my whole career so I love your channel. While I'm accustomed to more traditional furniture finishes I really like the blue table especially that the top is faded on the interior. Admirable that you are donating proceeds to such a great cause. 👍
Hello Campion, you are not only a gifted carpenter and artist, but also a good person. There is much more to it than making something beautiful out of wood. You can't learn that. It's in your soul. God sees that and will reward you. 😇🤗†
If you want figured maple to really pop, dye it black, sand it back then add the blue to clear, then some straight clear. You will get a lot of depth like that. Love both tables and the idea behind this video! Keep up the great work
Just when we need him - he comes! Thank you Cam for the quality and entertainment, you are becoming a true master of your craft and I hope you intend to continue for a long time!
As a traditional wood lover I lean towards the walnut but maple with it’s even coloration is perfect platform to showcase figure in colors. Excellent workmanship and vision
Personally, I would say Blue and brown. I honestly can’t say what I like more, and the thing I learned is that you essentially don’t even make them for yourself. Of course you still need to like them, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Just want to compliment you on taking on the challenge though. Keep the camera rolling 😊
Hi I wanted to thank you for the ispiration, i did a year abroad in canada and I took woodworking 12 because you were the one youtuber with whom I got into liking woodworking, taking that class I fell in love for the craft, and back home I started a small workshop in my garage, and my love for woodworking only grew stronger, and anyway as I’m watching your video I’m litterally shaking because I want to craft more, and seeing all your amazing tools and more importantly listening to your message sparks my immagination. We have complete diffent style and equipment but I think you are the person who inspired me the most in the woodworking jorney. So thank you for all you have done and for being such and inspiring person
Actually I think the blue turned out 100% better than I imagined. For my taste I would not buy that color, it would not fit with anything in my house but I can see that in many many houses with a contemporary decor. I can't wait to hear who bids and how much they go for.
I do lean more towards the natural wood, but the blue looks absolutely amazing. It has a mirage feel to it like you can actually see the water rippling. My daughter liked the blue more. Said it matches her aesthetic.
Blue is really amazing looking! Brown is really amazing looking! The most amazing thing is how humble you are about your woodworking skills. I hope the auctions go well.
Broue. Or. Blown. I can’t choose. You did such a brilliant job on both. Congrats. I’m a traditional wood coloured guy by a mile but that blue is really something else. I’m amazed at how much my thinking changed watching that piece emerge during the video. Thanks mate. Cheers from outback Australia 🇦🇺
For my eyes the wood always looks best before the finishing that makes the wood dark and shiny. That makes me think of an old couples furniture. Please try to leave the wood lighter sometimes. I'm Scandinavian. That might explain something. I know nothing about woodworking. But your channel is definitely one of my favourites! ❤
I think if the right person sees the blue table, it will sell for more. I would absolutely love to see a shou sugi ban with a light red dye. I think a table like that would be breathtaking.
Brown: I don’t have a question, just wanted to say that you’re the reason I got in to woodworking just two short months ago and so far it has been a blast. Thanks for all you do!!!
blue is such a stunning color! of course both tables are gorgeous but the deep vibrant blue at the base fading to almost the natural color of the wood is so cool. love that you can still see the wood grain through the stain, i think you're selling your own artistry and the appeal of stained wood short here.
I started watching your videos with the fire table! I love what you do with every piece you create, and I love that you are sensibly snarky with the negative comments. Personally, I like both the blue and brown tables, I think the overall design of the room would dictate which one I would buy. Keep up the great work 👍
I use trans tint with quilted maple a lot for guitar building. Look up some videos on popping your grain with black before your color. Gives the grain a much more defined look. Beautiful builds. I would put both in my house.
@majames4999 he's not right. This isn't a mass-produced product made of cheap wood and product. It's 1 of a kind product. Is it simple? Say, but you're paying for labor, not just the product itself. So unless you can do it yourself for 10 bucks then hush.
@@majames4999 not right at all. Definitely worth more than $10. I wouldn't pay more than $50 personally. But art to some is worth more. Some just want to support an independent dude instead of a corporation
They both look amazing! However my favorite is the walnut. I'm a first time watcher and a novice woodworker, will definitely be following you! I'm currently building my third table used reclaimed redwood.
I have to say that I never think your walnut tables look boring. you bring out a lot of what the wood looks like with its grain, and that has an inherent lovely look
Blue is my favorite color but it's hard to deny the natural beauty of walnut. Best of luck on the auction of both tables! As always enjoy videos and how not only do you learn something new but how you keep them very light-hearted. Thanks for the excellent content.
BROWN!! As always, that walnut table is stunningly beautiful. I must admit that we love listening to your running monologue. Your work is gorgeous and your commentary is entertaining. I think the best form of reflection is the type that you take all criticism with a grain of salt and say, "Hey, you could be right! Let's try it!"
funny part is it could be constructive criticism if the person hadn't been a snarky asshole and said he just copied stuff.
Absolutely 👊
The best form of reflection is when you realize criticism is only critical if you're not prepared to handle people's honest opinions.

Blue or brown, I can't say which is gonna sell more. However, I'm absolutely thrilled with the path you took with the blue. Sanding after the dye to highlight the grain was an excellent choice and it came out awesome.
Blue honestly sent me through everything. I'm all for the walnut in my house but the blue one made me rethink my life for a minute.

What's not unique is still using the word "lowkey".
I think the blue will sell for way more, the walnut is pretty but boring
But you started your comment with blue so... you cant be playing us like that smh.
@@jomangeee9180right now the blue is 800 Dollars vs the 1k for the walnut
@@unironicaluser1867 I would personally buy the blue 💙, I think the walnut has a wider audience appeal
I actually like watching the sanding, its one of my favorite parts of a project. it makes such a huge difference
Ooh yeah, a dark red would be wonderful.

"I don't need your judgment" literally made me laugh. Thanks for that and your open, honest delivery.
The fire and epoxy table is probably one of my most favorite pices of furniture ive ever seen. You knocked it out of the park with that one. Someone is going to be very lucky and happy.
Agreed it's an amazing table. I just assumed he sold it for a bunch of money, and it deserves it!
i would like to see another with two phases to the epoxy part. first phase small back lit orange and red embers and second phase clear coat smooth surface.

Brown. Dude, beyond being a woodworking wiz, you are killing the business part. The n3 nano, the epoxy workshop, custom tools, the creator course. I'm a huge fan of the projects you do but I'm even more impressed with your business mindset.
Thanks man, trying to keep the content at the forefront though!
@@BlacktailStudio I'm okay with that! Already looking forward to the next video.
The contrast between the two is amazing. That blue maple inset into the walnut would be something to see.
This. That would be a gorgeous combo.
The top of the blue one looks like water, like waves on the ocean!! Incredible

It depends. If brown wins, troll loses; if blue wins, troll wins - but Cam still scores points for taking criticism constructively.

The Walnut is BY FAR the better looking piece but the blue doesn't look too bad either. You do some awesome work my friend. Came for the woodworking, stayed for the HILARIOUS sense of humor.
He is a bit of a smart ass.
Brown
The blue one turned out much better than I thought it could but that Bastogne walnut is just too nice.
Blue. Brown.
It's not paint. It's dye.

Привет из России!!! Столы замечательные!!! Рад что попал на этот канал. Всем добра!!!
I like the natural brown more but that blue looks so cool! Looks like it would be right at home in a guitar room!
Art isn't just about highly detailed pieces, your furniture is definitely art and you are definitely an artist!

That is absolutely fantastic I would put that in my house and show it off. It looks magical.

Also, what about some carving? That would be pretty sick; plus it could add to the character the builds have already. These pieces blow my mind.
The walnut table is inoffensive/safer but I imagine the places the blue table is going to work are going to be a lot more visibly interesting.
Im a sucker for blue as it is my favorite color. Both came out beautiful.
