In general, stay strong, my cousin passed last year and while it does get easier, I (don't) remember being in a fog for about 6 months afterwards. It passed, it's really only times like this it still sucks
A Hero’s Tail is my favourite too! I played Reignited Trilogy recently but I still think A Hero’s Tail is better than those. It has more variety in level design and move sets, more interesting characters and also the best story of all. I loved how all the areas in each region were connected to each other instead of them being separated by portals.
Tbh I think I enjoy the first game on the ps1 more than two and three bc of the world not having as much rhyme or reason, which makes it feel more ethereal and dream-like, as if the game itself is spyro's fantasy. Then three bc of the more iconic levels, and then two bc ripto is the franchise's single best villain.
A Hero's Tail was my favorite Spyro game! I completed it so much times I can't count! And also the first game Spyro the dragon was my fav when I was a very kid.
Same! I’ve played the Reignited Trilogy recently and I still think A Hero’s Tail is better than those! More variety, more interesting characters, more techniques and probably the best story of all.
I fucking loved Enter The Dragonfly as a kid, when I bought a new copy in I think 2021 and I felt betrayed but it's still fun. Every Spyro game I've played is fun except the Wii game I got for my sister. We played it once and never touched it again.

How easily could you beat Gnasty Gnorc in Spyro 1? In 1998, I made the switch from Sega Saturn to Sony PlayStation. There were no games left on the horizon for the Saturn besides Deep Fear so I made the switch to PlayStation out of necessity. Not long after getting my console, I read about Spyro in the gaming magazines at the time. I was SO hyped for the game! Rented it as soon as I could after it came out, made it to Gnasty Gnorc within the short rental period for which I had the game, I couldn't beat him! I chased him over and over, tried really hard to get into the right spot to breathe fire on him, after many attempts I gave up and felt I couldn't go near Spyro again for over half a decade! In the 2010s, I downloaded Spyro 1-3 to my Vita and although it STILL took me MANY attempts, I DID FINALLY beat Gnasty Gnorc! I know he's the last boss but why make him THAT tricky to beat? Although I never played through the original Tomb Raider, the screenshots I saw of the last boss made me worry that you'd die after only one hit!
A Hero’s Tail is my favourite! I played The Reignited Trilogy recently and loved all 3 but I still think A Hero’s Tail is the best. It has the most creative level designs, a wide variety of move sets, interesting characters and the best story. I also love how the areas in each region were connected to one another instead of them being separated by portals. I also wanna give Season of Flame a shoutout. Although a little basic, I had a lot of fun with it.
By razor thin margin, Ritpos Rage is number 1 and then comes year of the dragon for me. There are MANY MANY things that make both 2 and 3 sooo great, its very hard for me to choose what I like more.. and because of that, I have to break the tie with something very small... and as much as the Sunrise Springs and Midday Gardens homeworld music tracks hold a very special nostalgic place in my heart, Spyro 2 using unforgettable Soundscapes for their homelands instead of music was always breathtaking to me. The Soundscapes was a genius choice to help express the vivid and beautiful world around you. It made me wish that the areas off map were accessible and i could just travel it. It's therapeutic. May not have been a big deal for many others.. but that small detail was huge to me.
This! I agree, Autumn Plains is just the best one of all homelands in all OG Spyro games. It's a masterpiece. As a child every time I finished playing Spyro 2 for that day I went to Autumn Plains, flew to that little cave in the wall where you find one of the orbs and pretended that Spyro just fell asleep there, as if that was his room, lol. I'm 32 and I still do that when I play the RT, because it brings some nice memories from when I didn't have to worry about things other than my homework.
Maybe it's because they're the Spyro games I grew up with the most, but I adore the GBA games. There's something so deeply cozy about them to me, from the music to the hub worlds and the interactions with characters, and as a deeply imaginative kid, I always found myself creating little scenarios in each of the levels and hub worlds!
I remember enter the dragonfly the most as a kid. Was probably the first game i played but i remember being so so frustrated because in that fishing/dock sort of area, i dont even know how but i got outside the map and i only remember this at all from seeing ur footage and seeing the nets that keep you from leaving the area. Never was able to get back in lmfao
The orginal Spyro the Dragon will always be my favorite. It was the first; it was the game that made me ask for a Playstation for Christmas; it was the game that I spent countless hours exploring and replaying before any other Spyro game even existed.
Whattt I actually enjoyed enter the dragonfly lol. I used to play the second and third one with my grandma and I was really excited when I got enter the dragonfly. I remeber finding a glitch through one of the gates and beating a couple of levels early. It definatkey wasn’t the best game but it’s really nostalgic to me lol.
Honestly pretty sad that you didn’t cover the legend of Spyro trilogy side of the games, solely because I wanted to see your input on the gameboy version of Eternal Night. It may just be my nostalgia speaking, but after a recent play through of the game, I can say for certainty that Legend of Spyro: Eternal Night on the gameboy aged as well as wine. It has beautiful visuals and atmosphere, wonderful music even for its quality on the gameboy, the bosses are stylized and cool, the fighting mechanics are actually pretty fun to play around with and had a combo system (despite my younger self just button mashing because 5-8 year old me was a no brainer) and even the plot itself is kinda interesting. I even love the sound effects and voice acting that goes into Spyro’s character, as well as his own animations and even his banter with a witty Sparx. I tried to pick this game up on the Wii version… and let’s just say it didn’t have me hooked the same way the gameboy version did. I also tried the gameboy version of New Beginnings, and I’m not going back to that game either because, no, it’s just not good at all. If you have to play any of the Legend of Spyro games, it would have to be the gameboy’s Eternal Night. There’s no other game that will live it up to it in my eyes and I will die by that statement with sincere confidence. That game was, and is still EVERYTHING to me.
Yeah. I never played much of the legend series aside from like one of the DS games, but I was curious to hear some opinions on it. They don’t look like bad games tbh

I have Spyro 3 also in my collection but have been looking to obtain the second game. It's nice to see that the games are getting better with each addition to the original trilogy. I also got "enter the dragonfly" on PS2 and right off the beginning I felt something was wrong. Spyro was running much slower and charging into enemies didn't sound satisfying. In the first game you can hear their breath being punched out of their lungs as you dispose them, in dragonfly you just run through them and they disappear. Also I loved the simplicity of the first game so the different breath types felt really desperate attempt to bring something new to the game and missing the mark by far. Didn't make it too far untill the game just stopped loading levels and I was running around in void with a lovely sunset skybox as my only friend, so I just closed the game and never picked it up again.

Me: “I forgot how weird Ripto looks in this game, what’s wrong with his mouth?” Jonathan 5 seconds later: “Ripto looks so cursed in this game, what the hell is wrong with his mouth?” Great minds think alike
BEST Year of the Dragon 9,5/10 Not just the best Spyro game. This is the best PS1 game and one the best games ever made. Reignited is great, but there is few moments, that did not translate as well as they should have. So it is hard to say, which version would be the better one. Ripto's Rage 9/10 Better than first one in every way. Great story, great characters and very well made gameplay with variety. Reignited version: Mostly it is better, but not every way. Spyro the Dragon 7/10 -> Reignited 8/10 Exceptional platformer and overall very well made game. Reignited version is clearly the better one. Dawn of the Dragon 7,5/10 Story is the reason this gets so many extra points. Main villain is superb and ending is truly great. I probably liked more than most of the one who played it. Gameplay needed more work since it is pretty clunky and overall DotD is too easy and short. With more to play, things would have been different. Hero's Tail 7,5/10 I did not like Spyro's voice or new design choices, but this feels like Spyro 4. It has better main villain than any previous game and story is very good. But variety is not as good as it could have been. Too much Blink, not enough Hunter. Eternal Night 7/10 Not much worse, but way too short and easy, even when compared to the first LoS. Boss fights are great and different elemental powers actually feel different. If game where twice as long, it would have been gamechanger. New Beginning 7/10 Ignitus is great character, storytelling works but origin of Spyro is kinda lame. Gameplay, very good and looks cool. Very good standard for the rest of the trilogy. But way too short. (I haven't played handheld Spyro games, but based on my experience with handheld games, their place is around here) Enter the Dragonfly 1/10 Beyond terrible when it comes to... everything. Story sucks, use of villains is super lazy and gameplay is beyond buggy and soooo boring. One the worst games I have ever played. Quality drop between Year of the Dragon and Enter the Dragonfly, might just be the biggest one among any franchise. WORST
Haha, I played Season of Ice, completed it, and never even played Season of Fire. I don't know how I played that game with little to no notice of the area around Spyro
Ngl, quite disappointed you didn't rate the TLoS games. Would have been very cool to get your assessment of them. IMO, the OG trilogy is superior, but TLoS has some elements to it that are quite interesting. In a perfect world Toys for Bob could make Spyro 4 that mostly plays like the OG, but adds some worldbuilding and Cynder from TLoS to bridge the fandoms.
I actually loved the loved the legend of spyro trilogy because of the story and the art and for kids younger than 9 will like not mind goe the combat in the game is but older people will find it boring
Skylanders Spyro is NOT SPYRO. That hideous creature needs to be erased! And so... I'm glad it wasn't even on the list :) 2:20 don't tell me what to do. 5:10 I was hyped to try Spyro 4 after playing 1, 2 and 3... Yeah, it was TERRIBLE. And glitchy... I couldn't even get half-way through because of glitches. 7:25 hit the nail on the head there. 11:17 a thought occurs to me. RPG elements in Spyro games? S1: Idk.. S2: Learn and unlock abilities for Spyro, that's kinda RPG, right? S3: Learn and unlock abilities for Sparx? Ditto.
Just finished the 1st game of the reignited trilogy. I enjoyed it, but yeah, the levels are too vast for my liking. Maybe I'll 100% it, I don't know. So I'm glad to hear that Spyro 2 has more linear levels
I just bought it on steam sale 40%, waiting for it to download, anyway, how are you going with the other games ? I've heard the last game in the trilogy is the best
@@TheNomad2727 The 1st one I liked because it's straightforward plattforming. The 2nd I utterly despised because some gems (which are necessary for progression) are hidden behind minigames within the levels. And I gave up on the 3rd one cuz I got stuck at the first boss battle. But the levels were more of my liking and more enjoyable than Spyro 2.
Interesting takes! Personally I really didn't like Spyro 3. I found it just to be rather tedious and really disliked all the segments where you controlled Spyro's friends instead of Spyro. Granted, I played all three games in a row as part of the reignited triology, so part of my perception is likely influenced by the fact that it was the third game in a row I played with Spyro, but still.
My personal favorite of the classic trilogy is how they were released :) I never played any of the other ones after the Year of the Dragon. 1. Spyro The Dragon 2. Ripto's Rage 3. Year of the Dragon
If I owned the rights to Spyro, I'd rerelease the original PSone versions of the trilogy in a plug & play unit alongside the Xbox version of A Hero's Tail!
2 possible answers: 1) Attack of the Rhynocs is the American name for what is called Adventure here in the PAL regions 2) he isn’t including Skylanders

1: Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon
Spyro 4 above Attack of the Rhynocs…
that’s something
spyro seasons of ice/fire and the attack of the rhynox sorta reminds me of the way animal jam would play and i think i'd probably be willing to give it a try.
Bro said Spyro 1-3 are the best and he´s 100% right.
Spyro is one of my favourite series here is my list:
10. Shadow Legacy
9. Spyro Orange
8. Spyro Attack of the Riptocs
7. Spyro Season Of Ice
6. Spyro Enter The Dragonfly
5. Spyro Season Of Flame
4. Spyro A Hero’s Tail
3. Spyro 1
2. Spyro 3
1. Spyro 2
fair list
Finally a list that isnt the exact same as the rest.
Spyro 2 is always the best
@@LocalPickles
I also like Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Spyro Season of Ice
Spyro 2 Season of Flame
Spyro Attack of The Rhynocs
Spyro Orange
Spyro Shadow Legacy
Spyro A Hero's Tail
Spyro Enter The Dragonfly
My favourite is the classic triglogy of Spyro due to my nostalgia.
Nope, Legend trilogy is the best
Trilogy is my fav. Every part of it.
The original Spyro 1 is my all time favorite!
Me: “I forgot how weird Ripto looks in this game, what’s wrong with his mouth?”
Jonathan 5 seconds later: “Ripto looks so cursed in this game, what the hell is wrong with his mouth?”
Great minds think alike
a heros tail is my all time favorite spyro game
BEST
Year of the Dragon 9,5/10
Not just the best Spyro game. This is the best PS1 game and one the best games ever made. Reignited is great, but there is few moments, that did not translate as well as they should have. So it is hard to say, which version would be the better one.
Ripto's Rage 9/10
Better than first one in every way. Great story, great characters and very well made gameplay with variety. Reignited version: Mostly it is better, but not every way.
Spyro the Dragon 7/10 -> Reignited 8/10
Exceptional platformer and overall very well made game. Reignited version is clearly the better one.
Dawn of the Dragon 7,5/10
Story is the reason this gets so many extra points. Main villain is superb and ending is truly great. I probably liked more than most of the one who played it. Gameplay needed more work since it is pretty clunky and overall DotD is too easy and short. With more to play, things would have been different.
Hero's Tail 7,5/10
I did not like Spyro's voice or new design choices, but this feels like Spyro 4. It has better main villain than any previous game and story is very good. But variety is not as good as it could have been. Too much Blink, not enough Hunter.
Eternal Night 7/10
Not much worse, but way too short and easy, even when compared to the first LoS. Boss fights are great and different elemental powers actually feel different. If game where twice as long, it would have been gamechanger.
New Beginning 7/10
Ignitus is great character, storytelling works but origin of Spyro is kinda lame. Gameplay, very good and looks cool. Very good standard for the rest of the trilogy. But way too short.
(I haven't played handheld Spyro games, but based on my experience with handheld games, their place is around here)
Enter the Dragonfly 1/10
Beyond terrible when it comes to... everything. Story sucks, use of villains is super lazy and gameplay is beyond buggy and soooo boring. One the worst games I have ever played. Quality drop between Year of the Dragon and Enter the Dragonfly, might just be the biggest one among any franchise.
WORST
You should try the legends of Spyro games
I've had a blast with Spyro 3. Way better than 2.
I've platinumed the reignited trilogy. Highly recommend
Why did you choose not to include The Legend of Spyro games?
I actually loved the loved the legend of spyro trilogy because of the story and the art and for kids younger than 9 will like not mind goe the combat in the game is but older people will find it boring
I'd put Ripto's Rage at the top, but otherwise I agree with your list.
I loathed Hero's Tail. It was the game that caused me to completely check out of the Spyro series until the trilogy reboot. I'd have put it dead last.
Ripto's rage is me favorite
Skylanders Spyro is NOT SPYRO. That hideous creature needs to be erased! And so... I'm glad it wasn't even on the list :)
2:20 don't tell me what to do.
@@TheNomad2727 For me, it's between the 1st and the 3rd (although I haven't finished it due to getting stuck).
The 2nd game just isn't for me
heroes tale is just too good i used to play it in my childhood so much
Thanks man I agree Year Of The Dragon is the best!
bricks (as in the thing you use to build a house)
Brick - For me, the original Spyro is tops. I love YotD too, but some of the levels feel too cluttered imo
Spyro the Dragon is my favorite game of the series and don’t ask lol 😂. I just had nostalgia for it
bro spyro shadow legacy has the minecraft font
I'd switch Ripto's Rage & Year of The Dragon
If the top 3 isnt the first three there is something very very wrong
how is it that every.single.time. I look for "cool game series X" tier list/top 10 I ALWAYS find some totally tubular gems by yuo ?
I have covered so much lol. If you are looking for something in particular though and I havent covered it im always open to requests!
I liked enter the dragonfly
2 and 3 are the best Spyro games
Hero’s tale by far my most nostalgic/fav this bosses, the areas, the combat was meh
Doing yourself a disservice by not playing the legend of Syro series as those are the best games in the franchise.
Love the vid, next do the best to worst need for speed game
LOS and Skylanders should've just never happened. Terrible
Salty Comet
Well I have good news we have Spyro Reignited Trilogy
@@katelynthewhitewerewolf6376 yes and I have them and my original trilogy copies
1. Spyro The Dragon
2. Ripto's Rage
3. Year of the Dragon
If I owned the rights to Spyro, I'd rerelease the original PSone versions of the trilogy in a plug & play unit alongside the Xbox version of A Hero's Tail!
Am i the only one who likes weird edgy combat reboots? Much prefer those over the boring collectors.
Spyro 2 > Spyro 3 always
The Legend trilogy is the best
Bianca ❤
where spyro's adventure?
2 possible answers:
1) Attack of the Rhynocs is the American name for what is called Adventure here in the PAL regions
2) he isn’t including Skylanders
@@NSegaXP I know he ain’t including Skylanders. I just wanted to troll a bit kuz I was bored.
