Have the same take on Twinsanity: definitely not the best, but totally my favorite. It's just so chaming, funny and intriguing. When the worst criticism a game have is not having more of it's ideas then you know it's special. And having a tutorial for a type of enemy that ONLY appears on the tutorial almost feels intentional by how hilarious this is 😂
To be fair, the worst criticism about Twinsanity would definitely be the jumps. The jumps are totale ass, basically when Crash jumps, the gravity instantly drag him down. Definitely would have appreciate some more floatiness. Plus Crash’s spin hitbox is totally random, more often than not is so minuscole enemies will still hit you. These are just some of the things I’m noticing, I’m playing it right now for the first time. But everything else about the game is so charming. I love the story and the characters. So I’m still liking the game a lot
@@davion4777 Twinsanity was the one I missed out on as a kid. When I went back to jam it as a teenager that was the biggest deal breaker for me gameplay wise, got a lot of game overs because of it. My other major complaint was how easy it was to stumble back into levels like the bee one.
I had a similar case a decade ago-ish when I played MK64 for the first time (I grew up with CTR). While I do think MK64 has the better music, CTR's tight controls blows MK64 out of the water. And due to that, I ended up preferring CTR in the end still.
Ngl Twinsanitys soundtrack is an absolute bop. Ive had N Sanity Beach's acapella stuck in my head for years now and pray for the sweet release of a nitro crate to make it stop as i slowly descend into madness and join the voices in their cheery tune
I agree with CB1 and Twinsanity. While yes do I believe Crash Evolution could have been a great spin on the Franchise, Twinsanity is so weird, odd and special, that it has created a life separate from just a game, it's art.
Twinsanity being #1 wasn’t so unexpected but I love it as well. It’s insanely broken but just something about it is awesome. Playing Twinsanity for the first time as a huge Crash fan is something I can’t explain. You’re on this dramatically different adventure as Crash and you’re not able to tell what’s going to happen next. The first time I played it honestly was such an insane experience and it was a ton of fun to have something different and roam around a bit. Using the objects of the map to get to places you aren’t intended to be made the game replayable over time. You nailed it though… we will never see such a broken but action packed Crash game ever again the way Twinsanity was. Crash 2 is my favorite game of all time though lol
Im glad someone finally mentioned this. I love how broken twinsanity is, im not a speedrunner or someone who tries doing glitches but breaking the game is so much fun and adds so much replayability to an already replayable game.
As someone whose favorite Crash game is the Wrath of Cortex, I was pleasantly surprised that it placed as high as it did. People usually trash on that game extremely hard, and I understand that it has frustratingly tedious controls and some very unsatisfying gimmicks like the "sneak walk" mechanic, but I still think it's a lot better than most people give it credit for.
Heck yeah, another great video. Looking forward to more in the future. (Also big fan of those 'audible blurbs' with each number, I tried to guess the game coming up based on them which was fun)
I like how you had the OG Crash 1 ranked so high, it's one of my favourite games of all time, this may be due to nostalgia as it was the first video game I ever played, I remember playing it with my dad when I was younger, the first & only video game I'd ever seen him play, but I loved the soundtrack, the level aesthetic, especially in The Lost City & Sunset Vista, seeing Cortex's Island in the distance with that orange sunset background, absolute masterpiece. It's good seeing others have their different opinions on the ranking of crash games, I have Crash 4 at the top, but everyone has Crash Boom Bang at the bottom lol it sucks
Honestly, the only major issue most people have with the original game is the save system. I'm actually okay with everything else. But if you intend to finish most of it in one or a few sessions, the saving barely feels like an issue anyway.
Yes, Electron Avenue is absolute eyecandy that can't be matched. Good track. Good soundtrack. Good redesign. Fun originally AND "remakely". It's just good lol. Besides that, solid ranking :)
I'm very glad you gave mind over mutant a fresh perspective. I was honestly getting very tired of the whole "different ergo bad" mentality crash fans have towards that game.
I just remember loving mutant and titans as a young kid. I played titans when it came out so maybe because I played it first I remember it way better then it was but it’s been so long mutants probably was a whole lot better in every way. Titans is just the dark souls prepare to die mode version of mutants if I take my biases away😂

It’s not as hard as I remember when I was a kid but maybe it’s because I found all the insta jack power ups pretty easy now that I’m older. Havnt replayed mutants yet but I think mutant combat and gameplay was the only thing that was improved in that game. I agree titans story and missions were simple and straightforward and to the point and I like it for that.

And that final battle against Cortex in his Mutant Form along with the cutscenes before and after it is amazing. I just think Cortex's Mutant Form is incomplete. I bet if they added more features to the model, then that would make the battle even tougher.
I'll be honest, at first when I watched this I was a _little_ disappointed when I saw my favorite crash game 7th in your list (especially with how much I bully you about it), but then as the vid moved on I realized... this franchise has an absolute sh*tton of top-tier entries!! Very good video once again riko; your script is even better than with the last one imo (and that one was VERY good too) and this vid is absolutely hilarious alongside just being very informative :D

Tag Team Racing and Clash of the Titans were the two crash games I ever finished. I loved the absolutely bizarre and absurd jokes and the look of COTT, was amazing. Its what cemented my love of Nolan North's version of N.Gin.
I was at first questioning your takes on the original trilogy remake, but after seeing your take on the PS1 versions of the game, the criticisms are rather fair and justified. I grew up on just Crash 2, Nitro Cart, Twinsanity, Wrath of Cortex and Tag Team Racing. Overall, your placement of each turned out to be exactly where I would have put them all.
Twinsanity gave such good memories and I remember thinking it was one of my favorites, but after replaying it very recently, I realized I was clouded by nostalgia. Honestly not too great of a crash game
I simply cannot stand Crash 4. Games like COTT and Mind Over Mutant were bad enough IMHO but none made me question my desire to play Crash more than 4 did. For me, PS1 era was the best (add in Wrath of Cortex since that was so much fun - it's what Crash 4 should have been)

everything you said about twinsanity i agree with it, the hole game as a package is BEAUTIFUL . it has a charm that none of the crash games have. the entire N.sanity beach in that game ( because of the charming graphics and the fun music and how fun it is to control crash and explore the island ) is such a relaxing and fun place that i want to live in that place until i die. and the final level of the game is one hell of a challenging but fun platformer level. this game is easily one of the best gaming experiences i ever had. the game is so unique and charming that just like you i dont want a remake of it ( because just like you i love this game for what it is NOT for what it could be ) i would want a free roaming game INSPIRED by twinsanity instead

I'm not as much of a Crash person as I am a Spyro person, but I find a lot of kinship here as someone who has always felt that, while the Reignited Trilogy looks nice enough in its own way, it doesn't capture what I loved about the artstyle of the original games at all and I ultimately still prefer the originals. One thing I will specifically give credit to the N. Sane Trilogy for, though, which you didn't mention is that I love being able to play as Coco basically all the way through the whole thing. It seems like not a big deal but I think she's such a fun character and the trilogy plus It's About Time really feel like they gave her time to shine.
Coco is my favorite character in the franchise so that’s definitely a huge plus in NST, but ultimately it didn’t sway my opinion too much so I just ended up not mentioning it. There’s a lot of things for several of the games that I didn’t think about mentioning until after I finished the script but I didn’t wanna make it longer.
I absolutely agree with you about the Crash 3 remake, and while the jet ski takes getting used to, yeah, the bike is WAAAAAY stiffer than in the original, which does make time trials harder. Also yeah, Crash 4 is such a slog to get through I was utterly exhausted and grateful that the game was finally over and done with. It was gorgeous yeah, but the ridiculous difficulty come the Food Dimension really wore me down, especially with how insanely long the levels are.
I honestly think that every single issue people have with Crash 4 would have been lessened if the levels were shorter or split up. Frustrating to find all the boxes? It's okay, the level would only be 3 minutes instead of 15. Really difficult section of the level? It's okay, because if you exit and come back to play it later, you only replay the first 2 minutes of the level before getting to where you were. Too much stuff to collect? It's okay because you have shorter sessions to collect them all and it won't feel as frustrating replaying levels.
Completely agree with Titans, what really bugged me was that every level felt the same, it's a shame because the variety of the titans was very promising.
Crash Bandicoot Twinsanity is literally my favorite game of all time. I quote it constantly despite the fact that no one I quote it to has any clue what I am talking about. I grew up playing this game, and I still have yet to one hundred percent it. I watched my dad one hundred percent the game, and his save file lives on on my PS2.
My Life will be complete if we get a Crash Twinsanity Remake with all the cut levels added in so it would be fully finished like it was suppose to be if it wasn’t heavily rushed. Crash Twinsanity had so much potential. The Game deserves a Second Chance 😊💎
This is a good video. I grew up on Crash, probably one of my most formative games. I can't really complain with any of your reasoning and my opinion doesn't have the nuance of someone that really has played the game a ton. I played them as a kid, and then picked up the N Sane trilogy, 100%'d that on Xbox and then again recently on Steam as I move to PC. The one thing I really want to mention though is what you said about Crash 4 having high highs and low lows. Honestly, I didn't buy the game for years until just a few weeks ago when it was well on sale because I had read people that were REALLY harsh on it, and that really oversold how awful it was. I'm playing it now and I'm finding it really just as enjoyable as I have the rest of the series, it's just a very solid game. Now I just want Nitro Fueled on PC.

The game just makes me so happy everytime I play it, it's really funny, all the levels are great, the soundtrack and environments are fantastic! I just wish I could play this game with a modern console! The Dingodile boss fight is also amazing!
Crash TwinSanity is the reason I fell in love with the franchise, and I think was probably the first videogame I saw in my life. It's full of good ideas that I wouldn't mind being reused in future proyects (hopefully). To date, I wouldn't say is my favorite though. It's pretty flawed and, in my opinion, has almost zero replay value. Although, I enjoy listening to its soundtrack from time to time. Also you're based for giving Mind Over Mutant some love. That game is terribly underrated in the Crash fandom.

Mind Over Mutant kicks ass it was the first Crash game I played since PS1 days and I put 100s of hours into it because I was having so much fun. Almost all the titans felt fun to play and some were delightfully broken, like Grimly, while still letting the player beat enemies just by using Crash. Metroidvania type exploration always earns points from me when done as well as this game or better. Platforming was reasonable and it was fun trying to figure alternative ways to get past certain obstacles. I also love that most of the titans had Heroes, boss variants, that you could find, fight and use for some time.
I just stumbled upon this video by chance loved it, I’m a big fan of Crash but never played all his games but I can agree with “most” of what you said. Original Crash 2 was peak crash, funny thing is I’ve heard so many people say good things about Twinsanity yet I played about an hour of it and got so bored that I still to this day refuse to touch it(but hey that’s just me). Also CTTR music was awesome especially the race track themes bringing back Spiral Mouth was good but pairing them up with the guy who did the soundtrack for the Simpsons Hit and Run was just amazing.
Very valid, especially 2 and twinsanity. Twinsanity is my personal favorite and created my childhood. But I personally think it deserves a remake with or without cut content. I know it may not be as good but it’ll still revive some nostalgia in my personal opinion no hate ofc
I quite enjoyed both your takes and the format you put this in! If you're down to do more rankings, you could perhaps rank all the CTR tracks. That'd be quite the fun video.
Outside of glitches, Twinsanity had other issues that made it unfun & infuriating to me, plus most of the fun stuff I enjoyed in the best of the originals didn't translate well in that game due to it focusing on one big gimmick: Cortex, and even that had a lot of untapped potential due to Twinsanity's unfinished nature. The game felt very empty to me, but will agree that Ant Agony is fire.

I grew up playing CNK on the gamecube (and N. Tranced on GBA) with a scratched gamecube disc LMAO so i never got to 100% the game but it is what i have to thank for getting me massively into Crash as a franchise in general. When CTR NF came out i played the ever living hell out of it ans then emulated CNK to finally 100% it and unlock Real Velo and i think it really holds up, sure its not as good as OG CTR but they put a lot of love into that game (like the concept in general of going to different planets and racing on themed tracks from that planet is great, and hell the background elements of the tracks are expanded on in CTR NF and give them some connecting tissue that makes it all feel more "real")
As a child, the first crash and spyro games that I played were purple and orange, a years later tried them again and found out they were really bad. Still had a lot of fun at age 7
I tried playing through Crash Bash recently, but I ran into a lot of the same issues you brought up. I put so much work into getting through the singleplayer campaign, despite all the repetitive tedium of grinding out not just the same minigame mutations, but getting enough wins on each VERSION of each mini-game. The real slap in the face though was "Ring Ding". I know it's a dumb basic mini-game throw in at the very end of the campaign as a pace-breaker, but after fighting against yellow-green colorblindness over the rest of the game, "Ring Ding" was finally the one I simply could not beat. If I could at least set myself to blue, I could at least finish the darn thing! If nothing else, a Crash Bash remake would at least fix that, probably. I'd want there to be a bit more going on than that, but hey.
Yeah, the N-verted levels in Crash 4 definitely feel like padding and should've just been a fun option you could turn on in the menus. DKC Return and Tropical Freeze's mirror/hard modes made sense because they increased the difficulty, but there's nothing to add here because you already die in one hit to begin with.
I agree I love twinsanity too but had this glitch on the 2nd level where me and cortex would just fall through the map into the drill like 3 times in a row
Great list! Twinsanity is still one of my favourite games of the franchise! It makes you wonder what it COULD have been, maybe we'll get a remake for it eventually that will make it even BETTER. Good video though :)
really is sad that spyro orange and crash purple have been the only real crossover for these two platformers that basically grew up together. How many crash fans also played the ps1 spyro games. I know I did and have both the remaster collections with both of them clearly showing immense care to the originals. though I will say Toys for Bob are the absolute giga chads with how they did Spyro I really hope they get to do the next mainline spyro game to see how creative they can get with the formula.
If it isn't obvious, then I would also like to add that twinsanity is meant for the most seasoned crash players. Right off the bat the beginning of the game will have you fight all the bosses from the crash series and if you never played the original trilogy, you won't know how to defeat the bosses.
Ɪ like to debate & hear people's opinions on games that intrigue me, so here are my list reactions: 24(Boom Bang): saw that coming. Ɪ get a little enjoyment out of it, but it is just mediocre. 23(Mind Over Mutant DS): it's... okay. very repetitive, though. comparing Titans GBA & Mutant DS, Mutant has more variety in Crash's moves, but Titans GBA has more variety in titans & level design, funnily enough. 22(Titans GBA): Ɪ think this is a good beat-em-up. the enemies sound like Homer Simpson, & the TNT explosions make TNT sound like a toy in this game. 21(Fusion/Purple): well, it's actually pretty good if you ask me. (sorry, i'm a very optimistic person.) Ɪ would say the best minigame-based Crash game. 20(Bash): Bash has some cool minigames, & is good for some simple fun, but more so for singleplayer, considering the grinding you have to do. this works out fine for me, cos Ɪ play games on my own most of the times, but still... 19(Nitro Kart GBA): Ɪ DO see the quality. seriously, Hyper Spaceway. damn. it's the best flat racer if you ask me. it does something Super Circuit can't. make characters each control different without making certain ones clunky & near unplayable. and these are the best designed flat tracks i've ever come across. one play of Super Circuit made me realise how good this is. 18(Titans Main): GREAT beat-em-up, and does actually do a few things like the classics. hallway (sorta) level design, vibrant & Crash-esque environments, & the Crash 1 big adventure feel. some character designs, while inferior to the classic looks, are pretty cool, such as Crash himself, or N.Gin having a more robotic look. well, attempting to have a more robotic look. i agree with Riko on Nina. platforming is alright in these games, and it's kinda fun to collect Mojo & unlock moves, but Mind Over Mutant is a better game, what with more platforming. 17(XS): this hurt. Crash Bandicoot XS is my 2nd favourite Crash game, & 2nd favourite game of all time, as Ɪ think it took the creative level design of 2 & 3, then turned that into a great side-scroller. not quite as amazing as those 2, but still creative, varied, & overall well-designed. even with the occasional flaws. 16(CTTR): Ɪ think this a good racing game, & a good platformer. Ɪ like that Radical added a clash mechanic to make Tag Team stand out from the other CTR games. it honestly makes me think of Jak X, but controlling good, & with items not being spammed. 15(Titans DS): HELL YEAH! best game with the title of 'Crash of the Titans'. it blends classic Crash platforming, specifically Crash 2 if you ask me, & Crash of the Titans combat action. 14(Mind Over Mutant Main): think Crash of the Titans with more platforming, and more emphasis on special titan abilities. or a less buggy Twinsanity. there you go. 13(WoC): Wrath of Cortex is a GREAT game. vehicle levels in this game aren't THAT bad for the most part, the best being the atlasphere. though, as usual, platforming is where Crash is at his strongest. the only truly awful vehicle is the copter. the jeep is bad while racing, but good in chasing. rhyme intended. 12(CNK): it's alright. not much more to say. Ɪ need to get to know the Anti-Gravity better. 11(Crash 2 N-Sane): only thing worse about Crash 2 N-Sane is the jetpack. in the original, it was... mediocre. in N-Sane, it's TERRIBLE. Ɪ think 3 is the only one that's worse in N-Sane, though still good. 10(N-Tranced): GREAT GAME. innovative, while faithful to Warped & Wrath of Cortex. but inferior to XS just by a hair. 9(Warped N-Sane) downgrade, am Ɪ right? still good, but the tiger is slower, the motorbike is stiffer and no longer fun for me, and the jet ski is alright actually. just thought mention it, since people complain so much. 8(Crash 1 N-Sane): why is the whole of N-Sane below the OGs? Crash 1 is much better in N-Sane, though still really good on PS1. 7(Crash 4): DAMN! HAVE YOU SEEN THIS LEVEL DESIGN?! Ɪ don't think it's too bad that it's less linear, & more difficulty focused, aside from a few levels. Ɪ think this is inferior to the trilogy it follows up, though. 6(Crash 1): the only thing Ɪ think brings it down from being as good as some other games is some control issues. 5(CTR): best kart racer, maybe even best racing game ever. just listen to Riko on this one. 4(Crash 3): my favourite. closely followed by XS, as Ɪ said. 3(CTR NF) yep. CTR is the best kart racer, unless you count the remake of CTR for it's own spot. 2(Crash 2): this game is AMAZING. but oh my goodness, that means Ɪ know what's next. 1(Twit-sanity): STOP GUSHING ABOUT THIS SO MUCH! IT'S NOT AS AWESOME AS YOU THINK! this comment was fun to make
There is a running theme with most Crash Bandicoot games, when Crash does something first like Anti Gravity Karts or Capture Mechanic, the Mario games does what Crash did a lot better like Mario Kart 8 or Super Mario Odyssey

I am not mad at this at all. It's pretty damn close to what I'd rank. Only difference is Twinsanity was my favorite years ago until I replayed it this year actually. Probably got bumped to 4th or 5th overall. Original Crash 2 is now my favorite and people look at me crazy when I say that. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes 2 the best out of the PS1 trilogy.
Had a period of time where I was starting to prefer Crash 3 over Crash 2 because I’d been burned out on the latter from speedrunning it. But after taking a look at it from a general lense rather than a speedrunning one I realized that it was still my favorite of them. :D I actually had the reverse experience with Twinsanity lol. It was perpetually in my 4th-5th range until I replayed it a few years ago while learning the speedrun for it. I just slowly realized more and more things I loved about it until it became my favorite, and then I did a full casual 100% playthrough of it to confirm how I felt. :3

My whole life I've said Crash 3 is my favourite game of all time, but in the past year Twinsanity has been really creeping close to that spot. I really wouldn't be surprised if it came out on top in the future for me

Yeah, my take on Twinsanity is the same. Crash 5 I hope takes what 4 did right but doesn't feel the need to make the game a slog, also, if the other characters aren't going to be as fun, don't have 'em honestly. Or make them more fun. Dingodile was fun for one level but every revisit was a slog, even in the first playthrough, left me wanting the next Crash/Coco level already. Twinsanity's other characters I honestly find fun though. 4 is an entry where I had lots of fun but struggle to revisit, where Twinsanity's always fun to come back to.
My Favourite of ALL TIME is Crash 2 on ps1/2 and I’m happy it’s your 2nd favourite cos I just enjoy it every time love the music and levels the secrets and just a good time

I agree with CB1 and Twinsanity. While yes do I believe Crash Evolution could have been a great spin on the Franchise, Twinsanity is so weird, odd and special, that it has created a life separate from just a game, it's art.
Twinsanity being #1 wasn’t so unexpected but I love it as well. It’s insanely broken but just something about it is awesome. Playing Twinsanity for the first time as a huge Crash fan is something I can’t explain. You’re on this dramatically different adventure as Crash and you’re not able to tell what’s going to happen next. The first time I played it honestly was such an insane experience and it was a ton of fun to have something different and roam around a bit. Using the objects of the map to get to places you aren’t intended to be made the game replayable over time. You nailed it though… we will never see such a broken but action packed Crash game ever again the way Twinsanity was.

Im glad someone finally mentioned this. I love how broken twinsanity is, im not a speedrunner or someone who tries doing glitches but breaking the game is so much fun and adds so much replayability to an already replayable game.
As someone whose favorite Crash game is the Wrath of Cortex, I was pleasantly surprised that it placed as high as it did. People usually trash on that game extremely hard, and I understand that it has frustratingly tedious controls and some very unsatisfying gimmicks like the "sneak walk" mechanic, but I still think it's a lot better than most people give it credit for.

I like how you had the OG Crash 1 ranked so high, it's one of my favourite games of all time, this may be due to nostalgia as it was the first video game I ever played, I remember playing it with my dad when I was younger, the first & only video game I'd ever seen him play, but I loved the soundtrack, the level aesthetic, especially in The Lost City & Sunset Vista, seeing Cortex's Island in the distance with that orange sunset background, absolute masterpiece. It's good seeing others have their different opinions on the ranking of crash games, I have Crash 4 at the top, but everyone has Crash Boom Bang at the bottom lol it sucks
Honestly, the only major issue most people have with the original game is the save system. I'm actually okay with everything else. But if you intend to finish most of it in one or a few sessions, the saving barely feels like an issue anyway.
Yes, Electron Avenue is absolute eyecandy that can't be matched. Good track. Good soundtrack. Good redesign. Fun originally AND "remakely". It's just good lol. Besides that, solid ranking :)

I just remember loving mutant and titans as a young kid. I played titans when it came out so maybe because I played it first I remember it way better then it was but it’s been so long mutants probably was a whole lot better in every way. Titans is just the dark souls prepare to die mode version of mutants if I take my biases away😂
Either way would love to see those two crash games plus twinsanity remade or at least ported onto new consoles in hd, those were some of my favorites

It’s not as hard as I remember when I was a kid but maybe it’s because I found all the insta jack power ups pretty easy now that I’m older. Havnt replayed mutants yet but I think mutant combat and gameplay was the only thing that was improved in that game. I agree titans story and missions were simple and straightforward and to the point and I like it for that.

Tag Team Racing and Clash of the Titans were the two crash games I ever finished. I loved the absolutely bizarre and absurd jokes and the look of COTT, was amazing. Its what cemented my love of Nolan North's version of N.Gin.

I was at first questioning your takes on the original trilogy remake, but after seeing your take on the PS1 versions of the game, the criticisms are rather fair and justified. I grew up on just Crash 2, Nitro Cart, Twinsanity, Wrath of Cortex and Tag Team Racing. Overall, your placement of each turned out to be exactly where I would have put them all.

I simply cannot stand Crash 4. Games like COTT and Mind Over Mutant were bad enough IMHO but none made me question my desire to play Crash more than 4 did. For me, PS1 era was the best (add in Wrath of Cortex since that was so much fun - it's what Crash 4 should have been)

everything you said about twinsanity i agree with it, the hole game as a package is BEAUTIFUL . it has a charm that none of the crash games have. the entire N.sanity beach in that game ( because of the charming graphics and the fun music and how fun it is to control crash and explore the island ) is such a relaxing and fun place that i want to live in that place until i die. and the final level of the game is one hell of a challenging but fun platformer level. this game is easily one of the best gaming experiences i ever had.
the game is so unique and charming that just like you i dont want a remake of it ( because just like you i love this game for what it is NOT for what it could be ) i would want a free roaming game INSPIRED by twinsanity instead

Crash Twinsanity is an Unfinished Masterpiece that doesn’t get enough love ❤️ The game has it’s flaws but that is what makes me love the game even more. Crash Twinsanity had so much potential considering how rushed the game was with a lot of cut content and the OST is Beautiful.
I'm not as much of a Crash person as I am a Spyro person, but I find a lot of kinship here as someone who has always felt that, while the Reignited Trilogy looks nice enough in its own way, it doesn't capture what I loved about the artstyle of the original games at all and I ultimately still prefer the originals.
One thing I will specifically give credit to the N. Sane Trilogy for, though, which you didn't mention is that I love being able to play as Coco basically all the way through the whole thing. It seems like not a big deal but I think she's such a fun character and the trilogy plus It's About Time really feel like they gave her time to shine.
Coco is my favorite character in the franchise so that’s definitely a huge plus in NST, but ultimately it didn’t sway my opinion too much so I just ended up not mentioning it.
There’s a lot of things for several of the games that I didn’t think about mentioning until after I finished the script but I didn’t wanna make it longer.
I absolutely agree with you about the Crash 3 remake, and while the jet ski takes getting used to, yeah, the bike is WAAAAAY stiffer than in the original, which does make time trials harder. Also yeah, Crash 4 is such a slog to get through I was utterly exhausted and grateful that the game was finally over and done with. It was gorgeous yeah, but the ridiculous difficulty come the Food Dimension really wore me down, especially with how insanely long the levels are.
I honestly think that every single issue people have with Crash 4 would have been lessened if the levels were shorter or split up. Frustrating to find all the boxes? It's okay, the level would only be 3 minutes instead of 15. Really difficult section of the level? It's okay, because if you exit and come back to play it later, you only replay the first 2 minutes of the level before getting to where you were. Too much stuff to collect? It's okay because you have shorter sessions to collect them all and it won't feel as frustrating replaying levels.
Crash Twinsanity truly is a game where the sum is so much more than the whole of its parts
Completely agree with Titans, what really bugged me was that every level felt the same, it's a shame because the variety of the titans was very promising.

Crash Bandicoot Twinsanity is literally my favorite game of all time. I quote it constantly despite the fact that no one I quote it to has any clue what I am talking about. I grew up playing this game, and I still have yet to one hundred percent it. I watched my dad one hundred percent the game, and his save file lives on on my PS2.

This is a good video. I grew up on Crash, probably one of my most formative games. I can't really complain with any of your reasoning and my opinion doesn't have the nuance of someone that really has played the game a ton. I played them as a kid, and then picked up the N Sane trilogy, 100%'d that on Xbox and then again recently on Steam as I move to PC. The one thing I really want to mention though is what you said about Crash 4 having high highs and low lows. Honestly, I didn't buy the game for years until just a few weeks ago when it was well on sale because I had read people that were REALLY harsh on it, and that really oversold how awful it was. I'm playing it now and I'm finding it really just as enjoyable as I have the rest of the series, it's just a very solid game. Now I just want Nitro Fueled on PC.

The game just makes me so happy everytime I play it, it's really funny, all the levels are great, the soundtrack and environments are fantastic! I just wish I could play this game with a modern console! The Dingodile boss fight is also amazing!
Crash TwinSanity is the reason I fell in love with the franchise, and I think was probably the first videogame I saw in my life. It's full of good ideas that I wouldn't mind being reused in future proyects (hopefully). To date, I wouldn't say is my favorite though. It's pretty flawed and, in my opinion, has almost zero replay value. Although, I enjoy listening to its soundtrack from time to time.
Also you're based for giving Mind Over Mutant some love. That game is terribly underrated in the Crash fandom.

Mind Over Mutant kicks ass it was the first Crash game I played since PS1 days and I put 100s of hours into it because I was having so much fun. Almost all the titans felt fun to play and some were delightfully broken, like Grimly, while still letting the player beat enemies just by using Crash. Metroidvania type exploration always earns points from me when done as well as this game or better. Platforming was reasonable and it was fun trying to figure alternative ways to get past certain obstacles. I also love that most of the titans had Heroes, boss variants, that you could find, fight and use for some time.
I just stumbled upon this video by chance loved it, I’m a big fan of Crash but never played all his games but I can agree with “most” of what you said.
Original Crash 2 was peak crash, funny thing is I’ve heard so many people say good things about Twinsanity yet I played about an hour of it and got so bored that I still to this day refuse to touch it(but hey that’s just me).
Also CTTR music was awesome especially the race track themes bringing back Spiral Mouth was good but pairing them up with the guy who did the soundtrack for the
Simpsons Hit and Run was just amazing.

Very valid, especially 2 and twinsanity. Twinsanity is my personal favorite and created my childhood. But I personally think it deserves a remake with or without cut content. I know it may not be as good but it’ll still revive some nostalgia in my personal opinion no hate ofc

Outside of glitches, Twinsanity had other issues that made it unfun & infuriating to me, plus most of the fun stuff I enjoyed in the best of the originals didn't translate well in that game due to it focusing on one big gimmick: Cortex, and even that had a lot of untapped potential due to Twinsanity's unfinished nature. The game felt very empty to me, but will agree that Ant Agony is fire.

I grew up playing CNK on the gamecube (and N. Tranced on GBA) with a scratched gamecube disc LMAO so i never got to 100% the game but it is what i have to thank for getting me massively into Crash as a franchise in general. When CTR NF came out i played the ever living hell out of it ans then emulated CNK to finally 100% it and unlock Real Velo and i think it really holds up, sure its not as good as OG CTR but they put a lot of love into that game (like the concept in general of going to different planets and racing on themed tracks from that planet is great, and hell the background elements of the tracks are expanded on in CTR NF and give them some connecting tissue that makes it all feel more "real")

As a child, the first crash and spyro games that I played were purple and orange, a years later tried them again and found out they were really bad. Still had a lot of fun at age 7
I tried playing through Crash Bash recently, but I ran into a lot of the same issues you brought up. I put so much work into getting through the singleplayer campaign, despite all the repetitive tedium of grinding out not just the same minigame mutations, but getting enough wins on each VERSION of each mini-game. The real slap in the face though was "Ring Ding". I know it's a dumb basic mini-game throw in at the very end of the campaign as a pace-breaker, but after fighting against yellow-green colorblindness over the rest of the game, "Ring Ding" was finally the one I simply could not beat. If I could at least set myself to blue, I could at least finish the darn thing!
If nothing else, a Crash Bash remake would at least fix that, probably. I'd want there to be a bit more going on than that, but hey.

Yeah, the N-verted levels in Crash 4 definitely feel like padding and should've just been a fun option you could turn on in the menus. DKC Return and Tropical Freeze's mirror/hard modes made sense because they increased the difficulty, but there's nothing to add here because you already die in one hit to begin with.

really is sad that spyro orange and crash purple have been the only real crossover for these two platformers that basically grew up together. How many crash fans also played the ps1 spyro games. I know I did and have both the remaster collections with both of them clearly showing immense care to the originals. though I will say Toys for Bob are the absolute giga chads with how they did Spyro I really hope they get to do the next mainline spyro game to see how creative they can get with the formula.
If it isn't obvious, then I would also like to add that twinsanity is meant for the most seasoned crash players. Right off the bat the beginning of the game will have you fight all the bosses from the crash series and if you never played the original trilogy, you won't know how to defeat the bosses.
Ɪ like to debate & hear people's opinions on games that intrigue me, so here are my list reactions:
24(Boom Bang): saw that coming. Ɪ get a little enjoyment out of it, but it is just mediocre.
23(Mind Over Mutant DS): it's... okay. very repetitive, though. comparing Titans GBA & Mutant DS, Mutant has more variety in Crash's moves, but Titans GBA has more variety in titans & level design, funnily enough.
22(Titans GBA): Ɪ think this is a good beat-em-up. the enemies sound like Homer Simpson, & the TNT explosions make TNT sound like a toy in this game.
21(Fusion/Purple): well, it's actually pretty good if you ask me. (sorry, i'm a very optimistic person.) Ɪ would say the best minigame-based Crash game.
20(Bash): Bash has some cool minigames, & is good for some simple fun, but more so for singleplayer, considering the grinding you have to do. this works out fine for me, cos Ɪ play games on my own most of the times, but still...
19(Nitro Kart GBA): Ɪ DO see the quality. seriously, Hyper Spaceway. damn. it's the best flat racer if you ask me. it does something Super Circuit can't. make characters each control different without making certain ones clunky & near unplayable. and these are the best designed flat tracks i've ever come across. one play of Super Circuit made me realise how good this is.
18(Titans Main): GREAT beat-em-up, and does actually do a few things like the classics. hallway (sorta) level design, vibrant & Crash-esque environments, & the Crash 1 big adventure feel. some character designs, while inferior to the classic looks, are pretty cool, such as Crash himself, or N.Gin having a more robotic look. well, attempting to have a more robotic look. i agree with Riko on Nina. platforming is alright in these games, and it's kinda fun to collect Mojo & unlock moves, but Mind Over Mutant is a better game, what with more platforming.
17(XS): this hurt. Crash Bandicoot XS is my 2nd favourite Crash game, & 2nd favourite game of all time, as Ɪ think it took the creative level design of 2 & 3, then turned that into a great side-scroller. not quite as amazing as those 2, but still creative, varied, & overall well-designed. even with the occasional flaws.
16(CTTR): Ɪ think this a good racing game, & a good platformer. Ɪ like that Radical added a clash mechanic to make Tag Team stand out from the other CTR games. it honestly makes me think of Jak X, but controlling good, & with items not being spammed.
15(Titans DS): HELL YEAH! best game with the title of 'Crash of the Titans'. it blends classic Crash platforming, specifically Crash 2 if you ask me, & Crash of the Titans combat action.
14(Mind Over Mutant Main): think Crash of the Titans with more platforming, and more emphasis on special titan abilities. or a less buggy Twinsanity. there you go.
13(WoC): Wrath of Cortex is a GREAT game. vehicle levels in this game aren't THAT bad for the most part, the best being the atlasphere. though, as usual, platforming is where Crash is at his strongest. the only truly awful vehicle is the copter. the jeep is bad while racing, but good in chasing. rhyme intended.
12(CNK): it's alright. not much more to say. Ɪ need to get to know the Anti-Gravity better.
11(Crash 2 N-Sane): only thing worse about Crash 2 N-Sane is the jetpack. in the original, it was... mediocre. in N-Sane, it's TERRIBLE. Ɪ think 3 is the only one that's worse in N-Sane, though still good.
10(N-Tranced): GREAT GAME. innovative, while faithful to Warped & Wrath of Cortex. but inferior to XS just by a hair.
9(Warped N-Sane) downgrade, am Ɪ right? still good, but the tiger is slower, the motorbike is stiffer and no longer fun for me, and the jet ski is alright actually. just thought mention it, since people complain so much.
8(Crash 1 N-Sane): why is the whole of N-Sane below the OGs? Crash 1 is much better in N-Sane, though still really good on PS1.
7(Crash 4): DAMN! HAVE YOU SEEN THIS LEVEL DESIGN?! Ɪ don't think it's too bad that it's less linear, & more difficulty focused, aside from a few levels. Ɪ think this is inferior to the trilogy it follows up, though.
6(Crash 1): the only thing Ɪ think brings it down from being as good as some other games is some control issues.
5(CTR): best kart racer, maybe even best racing game ever. just listen to Riko on this one.
4(Crash 3): my favourite. closely followed by XS, as Ɪ said.
3(CTR NF) yep. CTR is the best kart racer, unless you count the remake of CTR for it's own spot.

Nitro Kart’s biggest issue is how slow it plays compared to CTR. When you compare the speeds of it and the NF remake, it’s night and day.

I am not mad at this at all. It's pretty damn close to what I'd rank. Only difference is Twinsanity was my favorite years ago until I replayed it this year actually. Probably got bumped to 4th or 5th overall. Original Crash 2 is now my favorite and people look at me crazy when I say that. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes 2 the best out of the PS1 trilogy.
Had a period of time where I was starting to prefer Crash 3 over Crash 2 because I’d been burned out on the latter from speedrunning it. But after taking a look at it from a general lense rather than a speedrunning one I realized that it was still my favorite of them. :D
I actually had the reverse experience with Twinsanity lol. It was perpetually in my 4th-5th range until I replayed it a few years ago while learning the speedrun for it. I just slowly realized more and more things I loved about it until it became my favorite, and then I did a full casual 100% playthrough of it to confirm how I felt. :3
@@RikoKSB Don't get me wrong it's still a fun game nonetheless in my opinion. It's just so much more frustrating than I remember, but it's still very fun and the soundtrack is damn good.
My whole life I've said Crash 3 is my favourite game of all time, but in the past year Twinsanity has been really creeping close to that spot. I really wouldn't be surprised if it came out on top in the future for me

crash twinsanity is just a massive glitch fest, that feels like it lacks a direction most of the time
and crash 3 forgets that it is supposed to be a platfomrer 3/5 of the time

Yeah, my take on Twinsanity is the same. Crash 5 I hope takes what 4 did right but doesn't feel the need to make the game a slog, also, if the other characters aren't going to be as fun, don't have 'em honestly. Or make them more fun. Dingodile was fun for one level but every revisit was a slog, even in the first playthrough, left me wanting the next Crash/Coco level already. Twinsanity's other characters I honestly find fun though. 4 is an entry where I had lots of fun but struggle to revisit, where Twinsanity's always fun to come back to.

Crash 4 IAT is basically what you get if you combine everything good about Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze with everything annoying about Donkey Kong 64.

My Favourite of ALL TIME is Crash 2 on ps1/2 and I’m happy it’s your 2nd favourite cos I just enjoy it every time love the music and levels the secrets and just a good time
