I saw the thumbnail for this video last week. On monday, i went over to a friend’s house and his gf gave me her old 3ds system and games. With them was Spyro Shadow Legacy and just for shits i fired it up at their place to see what it was like. I was almost appalled, but I had no idea that every spyro game on nintendo handhelds is so fundamentally different from the next. Glad I got to start this collection with the pinnacle.
I would honestly love to have a Legend of Spyro remaster or at least rerelease on newer consoles. I genuinely loved that trilogy. And I even grew up with the originals The Valley of Avalor was one of my favorite levels across the trilogy.
The DS version of Dawn of the Dragon doesn't even _look_ like Spyro. It's pretty much like someone made Generic Happy Splappy Fighting Dragon Game, but then someone got the bright idea to dip the dragon in purple paint and slap the Spyro name on it for brand recognition. Like, what the absolute flipping _hell?_
Ditto! I was thinking "You know, I don't remember much about that game, but I also don't remember anything overtly bad - I'm pretty sure I ... enjoyed it? Do most people really hate it that much? Huh." If anything, I want to actually go back and replay it now to see if that viewpoint holds up.
Honestly when you said the legend of spyro was bad, I paused the video and threw my phone saying "get that shit of my screen, my ears cannot comprehend what you just said." Then I unpaused and you said "...on DS" I was relieved...sort of.
My sister and I had New Beginning on the DS. It wasn't the first DS game we had, but at the time it was still an important addition to our small collection. To be honest, it was our first introduction to Spyro, and we ended up having the angsty-Spyro games (first on the DS, and the others on Wii)... though only two (the first and the last on Wii) we ever really played all the way through (well, the last game we didn't technically beat, but we were right at the last boss). I guess we liked it because we liked dragons, and at the time we also didn't have a ton of games that were in-depth-story kinda games. Being able to play as both Spyro and Cinder in co-op was a major bonus, because there weren't very many games that my sister and I could play together (tbh this also being due to the fact that my sister and I have different interests, but we both liked dragons and my sister especially loved that you could flap/glide around quite a bit). If we had the means to play the original games back in the day though, I'm sure we would have. When Skylanders came around though, we were... confused more than anything why Spyro was there, but more importantly, we were pretty heckin' horrified at Spyro's face. We were feelin' dat "Look how they massacred my boy" feel.
The Legend Of Spyro series was extremely epic and unique for what it was. It took a different perspective on the character that was deeper than the original. Mind you the original will always be the best, i just cant understand the hate on The Legend series. If you take it from a fresh perspective and something new I'm sure people would appreciate the story, combat system, and new ideas.
Even though i grew up on Riptos Rage and Year of the Dragon I still played the Legend Trilogy to mixed reception. I think A New Beginning is okay, Eternal Night is bad, but Dawn of the Dragon I really love and have played through it a few times. Console versions, not played the handhelds.
I remember loving the Legend of Spyro series in high school and I begged my mum for Dawn of the Dragon and she got it for me on DS. I never had the heart to tell her that it wasn't what I wanted and just quietly got the PS2 version later.
I hate that skylanders is so hated. Yeah, toys to life and spyro’s treatment were both pretty scummy. But the games are dahm good kids games. So I get pretty disappointed that no one gives it a chance because it “ruined” Spyro

And I even grew up with the originals
The Valley of Avalor was one of my favorite levels across the trilogy.
Can we just all agree that the sound track from the original PS1 trilogy F***ing SLAPS!
Oh man, another collaboration of Caddy and Antdude!
* Slowly raises hand * I uh... I remember liking Shadow Legacy. I never went back to it after finishing it, but I don’t have bad memories of it.
Same here. The only part that left me with bad memories was the platforming, but even for that, I remember Seasons of Ice and Flame being way worse.
Ditto! I was thinking "You know, I don't remember much about that game, but I also don't remember anything overtly bad - I'm pretty sure I ... enjoyed it? Do most people really hate it that much? Huh." If anything, I want to actually go back and replay it now to see if that viewpoint holds up.
Honestly when you said the legend of spyro was bad, I paused the video and threw my phone saying "get that shit of my screen, my ears cannot comprehend what you just said." Then I unpaused and you said "...on DS"
I was relieved...sort of.
1:48 for the warm embrace of……. friendship
I love how almost all of Caddis options have completely changed to the opposite a few years later
At least Eternal Night did
Got some Love!
I've missed Spyro. So awful to see what happened to him in skylanders
I always forget that Skylanders is subtitled "Spyro's Adventure"
It was crap
Problem is that it’s very repetitive. Most people agree the story is excellent but the gameplay is just endless button mashing combat arenas

To be fair, Skylanders isn't a Spyro series. Just a series that has Spyro in it as a character.
7:20, when you do this to an epic beat.
As the guy who was clambering for a good spyro gba beat em up, I did really enjoy the eternal night, and still play it every now and then
Are there any actual fans of Legend of spyro out there , cause I'm really curious about that ?
Legend of Spyro is my favorite Spyro series. It easily beats out the original.
Just fan of Eternal Night on GBA. I don't like all the other Legend games. I almost like DotD on DS but not really in fact.
Yea, me. Tho i won't defend A new beginning on gba/DS or DotD on DS. Those are awful
@@ninjasanin500 I only played the console versions, so I have no idea how the handhelds play.
I like that Spyro collabed with Yu-Gi-Oh.
I want to see a reignited legends trilogy because it had an alright story
This is a crossover I didn't know I wanted. You guys work well together! Fun video!
14:41 YES YES YES YES PLEASE DO IDC HOW MEAN YOU TWO ARE TO IT REVIEW MY CHILDHOOD TOGETHER
I remember loving the Legend of Spyro series in high school and I begged my mum for Dawn of the Dragon and she got it for me on DS. I never had the heart to tell her that it wasn't what I wanted and just quietly got the PS2 version later.
11:30 Ran out of Kirby games?
Well antdude need to review Super Kirby clash! 😃
You and Caddy collaborating is the best! This was an awesome watch!
9:37 I'm still stuck on that boss to this day.
Same
Dude
And nothing new has came yet... *cries uncontrollably*
I hate that skylanders is so hated. Yeah, toys to life and spyro’s treatment were both pretty scummy. But the games are dahm good kids games. So I get pretty disappointed that no one gives it a chance because it “ruined” Spyro
12:49 Looks like you're going to the Shadow Realm Jimbo. OH, it's just down the street, next to the Chick-fil-A.
3:00
Nick Robinson: *buying a ticket to Japan* Did someone say Japan?
I never thought u guys would collab of all RUclips's...BUT.... I did enjoy it, good shit!
I really liked Dawn of the Dragon on ps3 when it first came out
Best way to Describe this franchise(maybe some others):
First: Go experimental!!
Second: Be hated by too many people over the years
Third: Get a remaster to show off that they WERE WRONG!!!!!!
AntDude has a copy of Skylanders?
As a fan of series, I am now legit curious to hear his thoughts on the series...
Better yet, That portal he held up was the Swap Force Design. Meaning he at least owns 2 Skylanders games. Unless he got it used for a gag...
@@fireyums Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he actually tries to review the games. I see I'm not the only one in the comments who wants it to happen at some point.
I only played number one. I like how cutesy it looks and the soundtrack is catchy. I'm guessing the others were a trainwreck?
@@lethallightning2 Not really. I'd say all of them were at least decent, though some were definitely better than others.
@@Shade2800 Exactly.
I can confirm that Spyro The Eternal Night for the GBA is good. It's still one of my favorite GBA games to this day.
Caddy: "For the warm embrace of..."
Me: "Friendship"
Caddy: "... *fwenship!* :3"
Highlight of my night
You are like the first person to mention the eternal night on gba and I sank so many hours into this game
Did you finished it on hard, dark mode and use to mess around in the training room?
Me: Haha Shadow Realm, nice reference
*sees text at 13:17 *
Me: Oh god he wasn't joking
At 12:29 "Oh, SPYro! How ARE you? How SAD that Another summer is coming to an END! Oh how I LOVE those summer nights."
Me: Oh good Frank Miller wrote this.
"I may have been a bit too harsh on the Legend of Spyro games."
Well, at least he read the comments under his Legend of Spyro trilogy review.
Eternal Night GBA is a truly solid game. Great sprite work and atmosphere for a GBA title too.
Antony: "Ah, no worries; the Legend of Spyro games..."
Me: "Wait, but you already did that.."
Antony: "... on portable."
Me: 2:04
