The image of the Queen sitting alone at her husband's funeral is so painful. I am not a royalist but I am a humanist, I just see an elderly lady all on her own in her grief. Left to sit alone when she should have been surrounded by her family and loved ones for support. The image of Charles standing is another one, just a grieving, broken man who has just lost his mother: the rock in his and so many of our lives.
Your words at the end were very meaningful and heartfelt

Of course the Queen, on becoming queen, as such a young age, famously and publicly. vowed to serve her country and her people, whether her life be long or short. And she did it for so long. Yes that was Prince Philips funeral, during lock down. It's heartbreaking. But I, for one, am so proud of being British. Not of everything this country has done, some of it was shameful, but things were were different. then We did though, start the abolition of slavery. For that we can be very proud. And your words have moved me. You're such a thoughtful and beautiful young man. Thank you..

Each one of those soldiers, sailors and airmen who took turns carrying her coffin were not only thinking of her as Queen. A man who has just lost his mother, a man who has assumed the heavy mantle of monarch and a man who has had to do that in full view of the entire world with the calm dignity that the role requires. For most in Britain the shock and grief were palpable and for many the loss of the Queen represented or reflected the loss of a family member because she was a constant in their lives. The beauty of monarchy is its continuity and stability over and above political turmoil and global upheaval. It provides a focus for national unity in times of crisis and celebration and projects an image of our nation to the wider world. It sets a tone of what it is to be British. The reign of Queen Elizabeth II will be defined as an era in the long history of the United Kingdom and she will stand very tall amongst the ranks of her predecessors.
Thank you Connor for your impassioned response to this moving video. Your British roots are showing.

Beautiful words Connor. It’s amazing how us ADHDers can briefly climb over it and speak brilliantly when we feel strongly about something, especially when it has a bearing to the hypersensitivity to injustice that some of us have as part of our condition. Pretty much no one has a good word to say about Britain anymore, particularly England, and many of our own are against us too, so it means a lot that a citizen of the world like yourself can direct a spotlight on our greatness for a moment.

You have a beautiful old soul Connor and your wonderfully compassionate and wise words brought tears to an 82-year-old Englishman's eyes. Thank you young man. Your insight and understanding of what it means to be human and from the UK far outweighs your age in years. 🌹🌹🌹

Two years on and this is still like a punch in the stomach. 68 year old Englishman here and throughout my whole life she was just 'there'......your words were magnificent Connor, nothing to apologise for. Thank you.

Thank you for the respect you show a country, and institution, that you have zero need to do. That's why we are proud of you. R.I.P. Her Royal Highness. One love from Scotland. 💙

Thanx Connor...i think most of the UK is proud to be British but its easy to forget just how small an island nation we are...and it is mind boggling even to me at how much we achieved & still do!
As a side note..yrs ago i had an accident that resulted in my leg being pretty f'd up..i wrote to Queen Elizabeth asking if she could recommend a consultant after the one i had broke my leg again during a routine op!! She replied & arranged an appointment...she was so kind & i dont believe can be truly replaced. The solo bagpiper walking away as her coffin descended is heartbreaking.
I knew she wouldnt be far behind her beloved Philip ❤❤

I am a young Scot, I am not a supporter of the British monarchy, but on the day that Her Majesty began her final journey to London I made a point of being in Edinburgh and bowing my head in sign of respect for Queen Elizabeth II.
