To whom this may concern, no, I'm not getting rid of, selling, or giving away my Phantom 3 Standard. I WILL CONTINUE TO USE IT IN VIDEOS! Don't worry y'all.
Carson Miller I am having problems connecting my Phantom 3 advanced drone to my controller and it keeps flashing yellow lights in the rear and says on my controller “Rc signal lost” what do I do to get my “bird” back in the air, please reply😁😁
+hellfire08 I will definitely be using my Mavic more than the Phantom 3 Standard but the P3S will occasionally show up in videos because that is why about 75% of my core audience is subbed to this channel is for the P3S and not the Mavic Pro Platinum
YESSSSS FINALLY U got the same exact drone that I got recently too!!! Now I can learn things from u about the drone. Oh one more thing next video you should make is best camera settings and general settings for the DJI mavic.👍
Good job! I just got mine last week and because of the weather, I've had little chance to really let loose on this thing. Although I did get to fly it indoors in a basketball court size building, I found it easy to fly and only crashed it twice after spending more than two hours getting used to. Maybe not the best bird for my first drone but who cares, I want to learn on the real thing before getting my first Phantom 4 v2 in a few months. The crashes were very minor and the bird held up rather nicely. I did learn a few things watching your video and it was a pain using my Android phone but I've switched to my Samsung tablet and it makes a huge difference. However, I'm buying the goggles next weekend so that will illuminate the need for both and should greatly enhance my flying experience. Thanks!
Mexico is definitely an amazing place to fly as long as you follow the regulations! When traveling through Mexico customs, you'll pass a section where you are required to press a button that randomly displays either a green "pass" or a red "review." If you get a green light, you won't be required to have your bags searched when in Mexico which is good for anyone with a drone. Personally, my family got a green light (yay!) so our bags were not searched. However, if we got a red light, our bags would have been searched. If your bags are searched, customs allows visitors to bring 2 cameras as part of your gear and drones don't currently fit that description in 2019. Agents apparently sometimes will look up your drone on the internet to determine the purchase value of it and will charge you a 6%-10% VAT tax to allow it into the country. On my Mavic Pro Platinum, that could have cost me anywhere from $65-$115 USD. It would be wise to keep a copy of your purchase receipt for your drone in your bag when traveling to Mexico so then they don't have to go looking up the purchase price of the drone and charge you more than necessary. Also, if you're prepared to answer questions about it and are nice with the officers, they likely may give you leeway and won't charge you the tax. I wouldn't be too scared of bringing your drone into Mexico because it isn't like they are banned devices, they just tax them occasionally if someone carrying a drone gets that red light. As soon as you make your way out of the airport though and are ready to fly your drone, there are a couple general laws and regulations that you need to follow. - Don't fly within 8km (5 mi) of an airport or helipad. - All drone flights must be operated in daylight only. - No flying above 122m (400ft) AGL. - A permit is required to operate a drone weighing between above 2kg (4.4lbs) and up to 25kg (55lbs). (as long as you aren't planning on flying a DJI inspire, you should be fine without this one as Phantoms, Mavics, and many other consumer drones are well below 2kg in weight.) - Maintain visual line of sight (VLOS) with your drone at all times and avoid flying over large crowds. - Assume that there are NFZ's (No Fly Zone's) at EVERY historic site, ancient ruin, cenote or similar attraction. Mexico's drone regulations are very inconsistent in these cases so my suggestion is just to assume that at every one of the aforementioned attractions that there are NFZ's because if you are found flying drones in NFZ's in Mexico, you could at worst be arrested and charged. - Around some resorts, there are rules that are put into place by the individual resort that says you can't fly a drone on their property so I would make sure that once you make it to Mexico, you check with your hotel/resort first to make sure it's okay. On the beaches, be reasonable and take into consideration the wind near the ocean is significantly higher than if you were 2 miles or more inland. I know this all may seem a little overwhelming at first and it definitely is but it really isn't too bad once you're in Mexico. Enjoy your trip, fly safe, and be nice to people and they will likely be nice back to you. I hope this is able to help you! If you have any further questions, let me know! Also, as a note, I wrote this entire helpful paragraph back in 2018 so a couple things could have changed since I went but as far as I know, they are pretty similar. Have a good one!
To add onto that, as far as flying with it, I would highly suggest flying with batteries charged no more than 50% (at least for the drone batteries themselves since they are large capacity). That’s just to ensure the cells won’t expand or anything like that. It’s best to have it with you on your carry on if possible so that it won’t be broken in transport if it goes below the plan unless you have a really good hardshell case.
OMG! Wow you're right. I could have swore when I first read the specs that it use digital roll stabilization. But apparently you are correct. Don't know what I was reading. Well I might have to reevaluate my thoughts I'm getting one! Thank you Carson
Your videos make an excellent drinking game. Every time you say "actually", we drink a shot. You can get wasted in 10 min. I'm trying this tonight... :D
THX Carson....that was very informative. You have good delivery too. You might want to go into broadcasting! The phantom 3 and 4 are much heavier. That concerns me in a stiff wind, which has kept me away from the Mavic.....any thoughts?
Love your videos Carson. I just got my Mavic Pro before Christmas. I opted for the regular Mavic not the platinum because of the cost. I got 4 extra batteries, a full backpack and ND filters for the price of the platinum....you were a huge help to me with the phantom3 Standard so I’m really excited about your future videos and learning along with ya buddy. (Btw, try to drop “actually” from your vocabulary).....lol....you rock man.
Thank you! Also I 100% agree it even annoyed me while I was editing this video xD...I just don’t think about it when I’m in the moment while making a video so it’s hard to prevent oops
Nice unboxing and first flight. Beautiful scenery at your resort in Mexico. Some people don't like the camera on the Mavic Pro but you just need to tweak the settings a little and it's a great camera bird. I'm a new sub. Happy New Year.
Flight time is better on the Pro though, so again would you say Air is better? Please let me know as got a so called "Bucket List" going between the two as not well and flying my cheaper drones help. Thanks again Brother for reply.
Love my phantom 3 standard learnt a lot from your vids ! You Definitely made a logical next step I will one day but I still like my 3 good luck to you !
Awesome video my friend I will be getting the drone today i am super happy I have a spark for a while now but I want to upgrade now. I dint want to spend extra 500 on the mavic 2 i think the mavic pro platinum is awesome enough.
Nice vid! What app did you use to screen capture the in-flight footage? Did you use the takeoff as the pair-up point to sync you with flying it and the video on screen? Thx!
Thank you! I just used the built in screen recorder on my iPhone running iOS 12 :). I made sure to turn on the microphone on the screen recording and then I just synced the clips in post with my main camera by syncing them with the audio.
I LOVED YOUR VIDEO. And the quality is so nice, so is the location. Great work. I subscribed. I want to get one so bad, but I live in the Middle East and dont want to get it taken away by the cops. So for now I just see vids of people with their Mavic Pro Platinum. Yeah, that's kinda sad.
Nope! On the way to México I had TSA Pre✔️ so I got right through security okay and then once in México, I got through customs alright although they did not have to check our bags so it might have been different if my family got the red light to check bags instead of the green light.
Hey Carson great video! I am new to video editing and liked very much how you transition to different video shots at 10:21s of clip. What type of transition program or name of transition did you use? That was awesome.
Thank you so much! I cannot remember what exact transition that is but it’s a free downloadable Final Cut Pro X (that’s the program I use) transition from Ryan Nangle. If you’re new to editing with FCP and need help or just want to see some more advanced things you can do with the program, I highly suggest searching on RUclips for “Ryan Nangle” and you’ll find his very helpful channel. He makes a lot of transitions and effects for FCP X that he frequently offers for free download and for anyone to use. However, he also offers some paid effects which I have not personally invested in, but do seem very reasonable for their prices. I really hope this helps!
Because the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum is the newest version of the Mavic series with quieter motors, props, and a better battery life. DJI is promoting their Alpine White Mavic terribly because it’s actually the oldest version of the Mavic series without the quieter motors, props, and longer flight time :/. Don’t get me wrong, the original Mavic Pro is still an amazing drone but if I was going to be paying big money for a drone anyways I just saved a couple more hundred dollars to purchase the newest one :). I’m super happy with it and all that it has been capable of doing so far! Also one other reason is because the color. I really love the white color when it’s on the ground but when the Alpine is in the air, keeping VLOS would be like trying to keep track of a bumble bee from 100 feet away lol
Hey bought a DJI standard 3 awhile back and just order a mavic pro should I see the standard? Cause I plan on traveling and going to air flight they give you issues about the standard. Should I get rid of the standard or keep it?
carson i have a problem with mi phantom 3 standard: WEAK IMMAGE TRASMITION! it sucks becouse if i go 50m a way from me i can't see anything. (sorry for my english i'm italian)

I've never posted my videos to anyone's board before but I just wanted to give you an idea after indulging in some cannabis and sitting back on a Sunday to catch up with my RUclips subscriptions... see if you get a chance take a look I keep them short! Thanks and carry on. At least you get some reaction from your videos. LOL
Listen Carson, I enjoyed your video. I don't think I'll ever buy a Maverick although it looks like a excellent piece of machinery. The fact that it doesn't have a 3-axis gimbal is the nail in the coffin though. Check out my channel I've deleted a lot of photos but you can see the modifications that I've done on the Phantom 3 line. One of which is making C1 turn off and on the lights. I just love that!
Thank you! I agree with everything you said other than the fact that you said that the Mavic doesn’t have 3 axis stabilization which isn’t true. I find that the Mavic Pro actually has greater stabilization than my Phantom 3 Standard has :)

Why in the world would you do that when you have a far superior mavic

you always need one drone to film the other drone shooting drones.

I could watch this unboxing over and over again

Droneflyer1.89 I just got one
I’ve been looking forward to this!
Nice review man - much appreciated. Also good job editing the video very well done.
Another outstanding video Carson ! Keep up the great work !!

The airline allowed you to bring the drone on the plane? Any specific way you need to bring it on the plane?

You should do a comparison of the two, video quality test, speed, distance tests.
Great review and awesome edit! I have a mavic pro, you are going to love the drone!
Thank you!
OMG! Wow you're right. I could have swore when I first read the specs that it use digital roll stabilization. But apparently you are correct. Don't know what I was reading. Well I might have to reevaluate my thoughts I'm getting one! Thank you Carson
Hey Carson. Would this drone still be a good purchase in 2024? I found a slightly used one for a good price. What are your thoughts?
Haha I was just flying my dji spark in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. Happy flying.
Your videos make an excellent drinking game. Every time you say "actually", we drink a shot. You can get wasted in 10 min.
I'm trying this tonight... :D
More experienced players can add the keyword "actual"
Or everytime he laughs its so annoying
I love your videos!! Plz make more phantom 3 videos later on. Best of luck.
Ps: Great thumbnail for your video!

Looking forward to more tutorials on the mavic as I am looking at purchasing one this year also
As usual great review and flying, wish you an awesome New Year!
Yay..mine will be arriving tomorrow 7/24! Yukon damp weather for a few days, but that will give me an opportunity to get it all ready.
Nice vid and presentation. I’m off to Best Buy tomorrow! Thanks bud
Very nice review! And very beautiful footage!
Nice upgrade! Really like it
Carson Miller I️ heard my uncle said he gave u tickets to the New Years party!! I️ hope you have a good time there!
I just got mine a couple weeks ago and I am hooked 😉 Great video👍🏻!
Nice unboxing and first flight. Beautiful scenery at your resort in Mexico. Some people don't like the camera on the Mavic Pro but you just need to tweak the settings a little and it's a great camera bird. I'm a new sub. Happy New Year.
Many say the Mavic Air is better, what do you think buddy?
Totally is! I got this prior to the Mavic Air though :)
Flight time is better on the Pro though, so again would you say Air is better? Please let me know as got a so called "Bucket List" going between the two as not well and flying my cheaper drones help. Thanks again Brother for reply.
No way congrats !!! I just got a phantom 3se for Christmas !
Ps just subscribed
Do you still like the old phantom 3 Standard? Do a comparison review between both of them!!!
Awesome! Just got the Mavic Pro Platinum as well
Love my phantom 3 standard learnt a lot from your vids ! You Definitely made a logical next step I will one day but I still like my 3 good luck to you !
excellent video again Carson! I always appreciate how indepth you go into the features and options! Enjoy Mexico!
Are you still going to make videos about the phantom 3 standard
Great job... Mexico seems flight friendly

I wish you luck with your new drone
What do you think about the mavic air compared to the mavic pro series? I have been looking into it and im leaning towards the air>
My Thoughts on The NEW DJI Mavic Air [Should YOU buy it??] ruclips.net/video/i4nON-njErY/видео.html
I LOVE your videos!!!!!!!!!!!! You are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much!
now mavic air is released what are your thoughts sir? :) will you still stick with the plat?
Did u have any problem taking the drone to Mexico? Like airport and security?
Nope! On the way to México I had TSA Pre✔️ so I got right through security okay and then once in México, I got through customs alright although they did not have to check our bags so it might have been different if my family got the red light to check bags instead of the green light.
You should make more videos of the mavic pro like the videos you made about the phantom 3
Please don’t abandon the phantom 3

Thanks! It’s an HP 27ES. You can see my review of it here: ruclips.net/video/ZTrjUFTZRDw/видео.html
great work!
Thank you😁
Aw sweet! You made the right choice 👍
what made you bought DJ I Mavic Pro Platinum with 1 battery but the Alpine white bundle with 3 batteries at the same price?
Thank you, great videos!
But you did fine with your phantom 3 being white?
Awesome video! I am looking at getting a Mavic or Mavic 2 myself! By the way, what is the song track you used at 10:20 ? Thanks! Subscribed!
Hey bought a DJI standard 3 awhile back and just order a mavic pro should I see the standard? Cause I plan on traveling and going to air flight they give you issues about the standard. Should I get rid of the standard or keep it?
Great informative video. Thank you
Nice video, thanks for the info.!!
wonderful review ☺
I’m so glad u got one good for u
mine on way ..hope ..it goes well
Like your voice over. Cool
carson i have a problem with mi phantom 3 standard: WEAK IMMAGE TRASMITION! it sucks becouse if i go 50m a way from me i can't see anything. (sorry for my english i'm italian)
CAN YOU REVIEW PHANTOM4 NEXT??
I love u vides they have really teached me how to fly my drone
I’m thrilled I’ve been so helpful in the success of you learning to fly a drone!
Amazing video
Probably going to buy one after I get money for it:D
what do the wheels do below the picture and record buttons?
Carson when you unbox something have a camera over on top of the subject aiming down.
Love the video
i got a p3s after watching your videos now i see you upgrade i wish i can upgrade too soon haha
how do u focus the camera?..tap on the screen?
All jokes aside, your videos are very good, great quality, unique, please work on this "actual/actually" thing. It would make it so much more professional.
oh and Happy New Year!
I love your channel
I actually prefer the Phantom series. I feel the larger build makes it feel more solid. Cause the Mavic can fold I feel the arms and props could move during flight and become unlocked. I also think the larger Phantom controller is better cause it’s larger.
Matthew Williams
Unless you want to fly it anywhere other than your backyard...
SquiDragon I’ve flown it in loads of places. Even indoors.
Matthew Williams Yes, but even still it’s WAY more difficult to move around. I bring my spark almost everywhere I go, just in case I want to get a shot I wasn’t planning for. That is significantly more difficult with the phantom, just because it is larger.
I would personally get a spark as a normal quad, and then if you want to do commercial work, get a phantom 4 (or maybe a mavic for both I guess)
It’s just that once you get a taste of portability, you can never really go back.
SquiDragon The sparks great!
The mavic pro!!!!! Yes
You are now officially on Casey Neistat level. Just need the boosted board!
Ooomg that is awesome now i want one:( can u tell me some tios about video recording n stuff?
Please reply, what camera did you shoot this on?
The Panasonic G7KS! I have a video review about it here on my channel if you’d like to hear more info on it!
Actually, actually actually, actual actual actual, actually actual!
Actually, that’s pretty actual
Nothing like getting your review from an official real life NERD!!! Yah BOY!!!!
nice video!!!
Do you register your drones with the FAA?
If you are flying in the United States, yes. If you’re flying in Mexico though, no, no registration with the FAA is required as the Mexican government has a different drone laws system that does not correlate with the FAA guidelines.
Very nice!
Please make more videos with your new drone 😉✌️
Were you in visual line of sight?
Yep! It may have looked like I was far away but I was really only about 300-400 feet from my resort.
what about your dji p3 what will happen to that drone?
Check out the description :)
Okay, okay. Don't be dissing the P3S now that you have a Mavic.
It is a lot of fun
Do you edit your videos on your MacBook Pro
Yep!
LOL

FINALLY
1:14 like you broke the controller XD
Listen Carson, I enjoyed your video. I don't think I'll ever buy a Maverick although it looks like a excellent piece of machinery. The fact that it doesn't have a 3-axis gimbal is the nail in the coffin though. Anyway just wanted to run by something that I'm sure you're already aware of, but remember you can always use lynchy on your standard 3 to get all the features except the customizable switch! Thank you! I agree with everything you said other than the fact that you said that the Mavic doesn’t have 3 axis stabilization which isn’t true. I find that the Mavic Pro actually has greater stabilization than my Phantom 3 Standard has :)
Mickey G.C.
The mavic does have a 3 axis gimbal.
The spark doesn’t, but the footage is still insanely solid.
