The moment you realize that Asgore destroys your mercy button not because he doesn’t want you to escape, he did it because he doesn’t feel like he deserves mercy!
Details I noticed about Asgore: -His name is always mentioned in yellow by the characters' dialogue, meaning if the mercy button wasnt destroyed he would have been spared immediately. -His battle sprite doesn't stare at you unlike the others, and his attacks seem to be all around the play area -He holds his trident backwards because he is used to stabbing much smaller targets. -He is aware of the fact that you can save and reload as you can see from the ACT button. -He shows you his attack patterns when using his trident instead of swinging randomly. -He could have absorbed the human souls because he needs to anyway but chose not to. These are the only details I can think of right now though so might add more. Thanks for reading :)

This fight is so cleverly made. Not only does it offer a fun and interesting challenge, but the fight and its mechanics also carry so much narrative meaning. He's a broken old man, a shadow of his former self, and the mechanics of the fight reflect that. Lemme explain why: First of all, lets start with the most obvious one: Him destroying the mercy button. There are two primary reasons for this: 1) His unbearable guilt. He thinks he doesn't deserve mercy after all the terrible things he has done to save his kingdom. 2) He knows that if the human actually offered him mercy, his heart would be swayed and he couldn't force himself to kill them anymore. His name would've been yellow from the start. Undyne also mentioned that when she was younger, she challenged Asgore to a duel, but "couldn't land a single hit on him" and that he did not fight back. He just evaded her attacks until she gave up. This implies that, just like Sans, Asgore may have the ability to dodge, if he wanted to... and yet we never see him do it in this fight. He just takes blow after blow without ever even so much as trying to evade Frisk's attacks. And while we're at it... Lets talk about his attacks. Almost none of them are aimed directly at the player, and his sprite is shown constantly looking down to the floor. He can't even bring himself to look at the human because he knows that if he did, the guilt would crush him since they remind him of his own children. Also, remember those attacks where his eyes flash before he swings his trident? Its implied those are his tears reflecting the color of his next attack. He's crying during the fight. Thats not all though. Similar to Toriel, none of the attacks will instantly kill the human, but only set them down to one HP 1. Only the next attack will kill them. Thats because he's holding back and has to actively force himself to deal the final blow. This brings me to his "Talk" options in the "Act" menu. The first three times you talk to him, there will be unique responses. Talk 1: "You quietly tell ASGORE you don't want to fight him. His hands tremble for a moment." Talk 2: "You tell ASGORE that you don't want to fight him. His breathing gets funny for a moment." Talk 3: "You firmly tell ASGORE to STOP fighting. Recollection flashes in his eyes..." The third option will cause both his defense and his attack to drop, as at this point, he has to actively force himself to continue fighting. But there's a way to lower his stats even further. If you kept Toriel's butterscotch pie from the beginning of the game and use it during this fight, he will be reminded of the old times with his wife and children, and his attack and defense will drop even lower. All of this aswell as the fact that he is capable of destroying the buttons but chose to destroy only the mercy button instead of the fight button (or both) shows how little he actually wants to win this fight. Had he chosen to destroy the fight button aswell, Frisk would've been left defenseless and he could've easily won this fight. But he didn't. Because this isn't something he _wants to_ do, but something he _has to_ do. Every time he looks at Frisk, he's reminded of his own children. He so badly wants to stop all this fighting, find his wife and live together with her and the human. But he can't. He has to do this, for his kingdom. For his people, that placed what little hope they had left after the humans sealed them underground in him. For them he chooses to carry this burden, to commit these horrible atrocities even if it ends up destroying him. Thats one side of his character. The other is a broken old man, a shadow of his former self and a good person that was forced to do one evil deed too many. One that sacrificed everything he ever cared about for the greater good, who takes blow after blow and even commits suicide in one ending because he, too, believes he is a monster that deserves to be punished. Regarding that: Did you know that "Asgore Dreemurr" is an anagram? If you re-arrange the letters, it spells "Sage or Murderer." And if you ask me, that question perfectly encapsulates his entire character. Edit: Grammar
Definitely not just you. As asgore is the final boss, I it made me king of sad to think that he is the last monster(probably not) left. And also, I at this point you know that the game is ending. And another note: he wanted to be with his family again. And I admire that. Not like underlust sans though... The cr eaters of that has a mental problem.
I think the point was that he wanted it to be either him or the player that died. He wanted to at least grant the player some form of mercy by having the possibility of killing him, or rather he probably rather die than kill another kid, if i was in his shoes, death wouldn't be such a bad alternative
I know this is a little funny haha moment but, it wouldn’t be fair and I bet asgore would feel bad cause he’s such a nice guy/monster and asgore probably wanted a little bit of a challenge because in the undertale universe it’s been practically a decade since they’ve seen another human
Asgore is the most tragically real character ive ever seen. Some have come close, but none have ever made me as sad as Asgore does. Truly the best character in Undertale

Asgore Is extremely underrated, like, he has character development if you think it for a second. Because Humans trapped them in the underground, and the only way they figured it out on how to escape, was actually, killing the human children to set them free. It's an atrocious act that even Toriel can't spare from him, but probably the best action to take, it's really heavy to take such ways, but in the end, he stayed loyal to his purpose, set his people free. His theme kinda represents it though, you can hear when the music gets louder and hits, and in the final keeps being loud but still "majestic" or "triumphant", it's not that the decisions he has taken were the best, but you can neither judge him for it. Your son's both die, and your loved one gets away from you because of your decisions. In normal circumstances it would be ok to do that, but not when he is a King. He need to guide his people, and try make them a brighter future, and that's what he did, even with the heaviness of his "sins", he had to do it, not for himself, but for his own people. The weight of the crown is one that is specifically hard to handle, you don't count on 1 or 3 people, there's an entire city you must protect, and let me tell ya that indeed, that's a lot of pressure. The circumstances that he was with Toriel, or his sons, didn't help, but yet as I clarify earlier, he did it for the monsters. He carried his sins to set all of the others free. And because of that, he is, and will be a true king.
Only imagine being asgore for one second, his life is really tragic, he literally lost his two sons and wife in a short period of time, also he lost a war and that cause that all his kingdom goes to the underground, and also he see many of his soldiers and friends die in the war with the humans, i think that asgore is just a big depressed old man that needs a hug and a cup of tea
@@SigusmundSiggy No one can deny his crimes, but when he searches for the last soul, he is exhausted, depressed and alone. I am not going to deny the fact that he killed 6 children, but deep down he was looking for a way to break the barrier and free his people, something that a king in that situation would do to improve the quality of life of his inhabitants.
@@AndrebillYeah, what he did was horrible and kinda stupid, but I think he can be forgiven considering that he doesn't want to kill anyone else, yet he has to in order to keep his people's hopes up with breaking the barrier (from what I think, not certain,) but it's completely understandable if anyone thinks otherwise.
@@cringelord6068i completely agree with you. Also i want to say that what Toriel did is really horrible, but understandable, because she dont want that his husband take the life of more people, but the terrible part (for me) is when she left Asgore, that kind of toxic behaviour, instead of understand the difficult situation that his husband was in to, she simply leave him, knowing that he probably dont want to kill anyone, but yeah i understand Toriel because when you have stressfull situations, you make very big and stupid mistakes
@@Andrebill i honestly agree-i mean toriel could of had a discussion with asgore rather than just leave immediately since she should have understood that asgore acted irrationally due to anger, especially because she was his wife Both of the goats are kinda in the wrong
If you fight him with a low LV, I honestly wouldn't call him "easy". He's more or less tied with Muffet for second hardest boss in the game. His attacks are easier to avoid than hers but the fight also lasts longer due to his huge amount of HP and the fact that he doesn't just decide to call off the fight like Muffet does. The only boss that's harder on the normal route is Mettaton.

1:51 this part, i don't know how to describe it but it sounds so majestic and tragic for me, there's something in the background beat, I have my eyes watery and all I love this game dude
This song is actually really deep. It has traces of Toriel's theme, but Toriel's theme has no traces of Asgore's theme. It shows that Toriel has completely cast Asgore out of her life, but Asgore still cares about Toriel. To be honest, I'm not suprised, Toby Fox hides lots of random crap everywhere
Fun fact Tories Is trying to plant flowers in her garden that’s asgore hobby If you don’t know where to look it’s in a drawer and asgore If you check his trash can He has a broken recipe for butterscotch pie
Asgore is so underrated compared to other characters. He is a grizzled old warrior who fights back his own demons mid-battle and will not except mercy. Not because he doesn’t want to accept lose, but because he doesn’t wish to live.
Something I've always wondered about is why the part at 0:51 repeats so many times. So I started to count, and concluded that same part repeats itself 6 times. The part after that, that would be the 7th, at 1:41, starts with a single note in a higher tone, cutting through the agitated beat of the other parts and introducing a slower pace. The pace of this part is changed back to a more agitated one at 1:48. Now, thinking of the story of the game, the 0:51 part, repeated 6 times, can represent each human he killed so far. And, since Frisk (the player) is supposed to be the 7th human, the 1:41 would represent this current battle, but the tone is different. It can be a represention how tired and guilty Asgore is from all the bloodshed he caused, but he's sure he has no other choice in this battle with Frisk, and thus the 1:48 part
I first discovered Undertale through this piece of music. While watching someone fight Asgore on a livestream, I found myself completely captivated by the background music. Over the years, I have listened to this piece every day, and it is so rich and layered that the intro alone contains the melody of the chorus. Especially the part at 0:29, with the soaring strings accompanying the melody, always brings tears to my eyes. The piece itself also contains four distinct melodies and In my personal opinion that correspond to the stages of emotional growth in a person's life. The beginning 0:17 represents the realization of the need to face the harsh reality of having to kill one's own self, not in a physical sense, but in a spiritual sense. The first section 0:51 depicts the long period of self-doubt and struggle, and as a result, this section is the longest one. The second section 1:49 represents taking action, no longer hesitating, and praying for forgiveness, welcoming everything that is to come since there is nothing left to lose(your filled with determination). The ending 2:07 represents the relief of being freed from the burden, got free, reborn, the healing of wounds, and continuing to grow and move forward. The bass throughout the entire piece is also very rich, and in my personal opinion, this is the greatest piece of music in Undertale.
Asgore Dreemurr. Asgore is an anagram of Aegros, latin for reluctant. Dreemurr is an anagram of murderer. Asgore Dreemurr is an anagram of "Sage or murderer" as well as "Reluctant murderer". If that's not an excellent name, I don't know what is (also Bergentrückung, the name of his theme, means mountain rapture as well as king of the mountain for anyone wondering)
@@SuperBliter23123 mb, since a "mountain rapture" in folktale usually refers to the trope of "the king of the mountain", I thought it was pretty much the same. My bad
On top of all of this, his (now ex)wife, toriel's name is a play on tutorial, and their son - Asriel Dreemurr is not only an anagram for Serial Murderer, but also a combination of his parents' names, AND an anagram of Ralsei, who was based on a character called Rals, with -ei being added later to connect him to asriel. Toby went all in on these anagrams
undertale is underrated edit: only knew because of a video where somebody plays video game music on piano (from least popular to most) undertale was first. having 1M+ downloads
This is actually my favorite battle of Undertale and sadly it's totally underrated. At this moment in the story we are introduced to the character that we are warned during all our journey. Our first thought should be that maybe this is the final boss, but then we realize that this character really doesn't want to fight and we get this strange feeling when the battle begins. At the same time, Toby challenges the player removing the main mechanic that we used during all the game so far and if that wasn't enough, we get another amazing piece of music that really conveys the climax tension in this battle. Storytelling, music and gameplay merge together here in a brilliant way and it just amaze me how talented Toby was to create this moment.
I really, really wish we got to see Asgore at full power. Let's look at some details. He was a warrior, king, and probably main target of the humans during the war. Remember, a single human soul is as powerful as every monster in the underground's put together. This man fought against probably tens of thousands of humans as the main target and a front line fighter, AND HE LIVED. He was barely even scathed. He made sure that the monsters were only pushed back. He's got armor on him and a trident, which are both probably very powerful. He was king of the monsters, and held that title. When we fight him, he's got an actually rather hard battle, and pretty good stats, 80 ATK and 80 DEF. Remember, this is him, yet older, scarred, depressed, and probably suicidal. He doesn't even want himself to win, and he doesn't think he deserves mercy. Full power Asgore? Definitely the hardest fight. By far. Probs like a kajillion attack and defense. Oh yeah, and he had the six human souls. If he used those, he would literally not be beatable. He deserves more credit. Now he's just some old man living in the attic of his shop.
most likely more powerful than sans too and not even talking about "dodge" stuff that is... just a joke sans does (after all to be honest... is not very impressive really since its same as sans having very high hp...high defenses are same as dodge) another reminder: he is stronger than Udyne. Sure hero undyne will be swiping floor with old man asgore easly but thats Undyne at its peak... forcefully too as she is literally dying of from her own power. Asgore? You are right there was a reason humans didn't kill every single monster. What I imagine is he took the mountain to take defensive stance once realized he is losing battle and held the line. He was so brutal humans had to seal mountain with a barrier to end the war... that guy was stronger than any human most likely... he is an exception to monsters now? He can't even look at your face as you fight. His eyes allways shadowed by his regrets not only that but he also never lost to flowey, a creature made of determination with abilty to restart Flowey had infinite amount of chance to learn his every move and perfectly counter him but he out matched him all the time... why? Because aganist Flowey there was no guilt of killing a child, its a monster challanging him... he can fight will his full wrath without thinking about past crimes... its not a innocent child he is facing, its a monster flower that trying to take his life now... no mercy. He was literally Sans to Flowey... "Hardest boss in the game"
There’s also the fact that he looks down for the battle, which means his attacks are thrown out randomly, if he was looking and therefore able to direct attacks he’d be even more powerful
@@robertmiller7921Underrated songs: Asgore Death By Glamour Heartache Hopes and Dreams (though is well known, people would rather like Megalovania than this song)
Undertale's songs always come at the right time, this one hits the heart during the last battle against Asgore. *You feel the drain coursing through your body... it fills you with DETERMINATION.*
Sans: im facing a megalomaniac with incredible powers so i'll call my theme "Megalovania". Toriel: I hate the idea of killing humans, it gives me a "Heartache" Undyne: I hate humans and i will hunt down all of them for the greater good of monsterkind, thats why my theme should be called "Spear Of Justice". Flowey: **this is "Your Best Nightmare"... YOU'LL NEVER WAKE UP FROM."** Asgore: ASGORE IS ASGORE.
I love how this sounds intimating when first heard, fitting for a boss level. But after figuring out the whole story, you realize that it's intended more for Asgore, not for the player. The incredulous willpower he needed to move forward is captured in this music.
Vincent Mah In general he's super underrated, he's one of the best characters in the game in my opinion. That run where he kills himself at the end is super sad too..
This has to be above Megalovania for me, but below Hopes and Dreams/SAVE the World. All three of them are awesome themes and greatest boss fights in their own path. I'm sorry but I truly did not like Photoshop Flowey at all or his theme but that's just me.
Creeperinside Link Photoshop Flowey’s theme was effective at conveying the chaos he wields and the human souls attempting to help you, but it’s not exactly a nice song to listen too and the boss fight itself doesn’t compare to Asriel Sand Asgore or Undyne the Undying.
It's theorized that the reason he destroys the mercy button is because normally, his name would automatically be yellow. Thus allowing you to spare him immediately, and thus be capable of ending the fight entirely. Tho it could also be because of the fact that for the both of you, this is a go-for-broke final battle in your eyes: if you beat him, you take his soul and pass through the barrier. You go home. But if he wins, he gets the final soul he needs to break through the barrier, and the monsters can be free again. Either way, it's a moment of desperation on both sides with high stakes.
0:25 - 0:33 is my favorite part. It just makes me feel really happy and sad at the same time, which just fits with the idea that even though Frisk is happy to go to the surface, he has to do it in the most difficult and sad way.
cuz that's what this is, it's the end of your journey, you're finally going home, but that also means you're gonna leave all your friends behind to die in the underground, this theme only stops being sad once you're in the true pacifist, where you can save everyone and this little part becomes less of a "sad happiness" and more of a hope song, you hear more the happy part of the song when you're feeling good when you're neutral you can hear both sad and happy in this little part and in the song as a whole so you get mixed feelings as if you're doing something you must do/said you're to do but also that just feels wrong, this what both you(frisk) and asgore are feeling
@@Deamons64 That's not what it means, King beneath the Mountain would translate to "König unterm (unter dem) Berg". I'm glad that, coming to this video, there's still people who love Asgore. He gets so much unwarranted hate for trying to be a king for his people. Toriel gets to live in the ruins with no responsibility to anyone but herself (and the children that maybe fall down once in a while) while Asgore carries the hopes and dreams (no pun intended) of the entire Underground as he's suffering for his brash actions in a fit of emotions. Goat Dad deserves happiness. It's kind of sad seeing how lonely he seems to be in the DeltaRune series, I hope he moves on from Toriel and finds happiness without her.
@@TheChildofAuraReborn Undertale is the game where the correct thing to do when a giant frog tries to murder you is to simply talk to it, so maybe Toby's very warped understanding of giving the other face means that all rationality behind Asgore's actions might just be irrelevant to the story. When you meet Agore and see him looking harmless but then he takes his cape off looking like a demon and breaking the mercy button. You will only experience once in life.
Asgore theme and fight are my favorites of the entire game, because: 1-Asgore breaks all expectations we had on him. in every dialogue, his name appears in red, which tries to create an image that he is mean and have to be feared. but when you first meet him, you can see he is an awesome and caring guy, which makes me go to: 2-He doesn't want to kill you, he doesn't want to take your soul, but that is the only thing he can do for his kingdom and people. some people really hate him because of that(i don't judge, what he did is really wrong), but don't try to see by his perspective. he doesn't want to hurt anybody, he just want people to have the freedom they always dreamed. you can see it when you use TALK and says that you don't wanna fight. he nods sadly because he doesn't want to fight too. 3-He thinks he is unforgivable. he even recognises, in True Pacifist Route, that his actions were horrible. he destroys your mercy button, because he thinks he doesn't deserve mercy at all. but he wants to redeem himself, because he loves his family and people. his theme even has a Toriel's theme leitmotif to proof it. anyway, this was long. hope u didn't get bored. and sorry if something is not written right, im brazilian.
I love this song man. It’s such a good send off to the neutral route and made me really sad doing what I knew was wrong. Definitely one of the few moments in a game where I wish I could experience it for the first time again.
fantastic music, really struck a chord in my playthrough of the game... i almost didnt want to cut out moments of me tearing up. the determination to spare everyone and being somewhat gaslight into actually attacking for the first time was so profoundly depressing. On top of this track which felt like a successor to Heartache that more is on the line and of course attacking someone you dont really want to considering EVERYONE in the underground thinks of asgore as a softy, the build up was PERFECT.
Bro heartache part 1 repeats 6 times, it can also represent the 6 humans he killed. This isn't my comment, someone else commented this and I'm using that here
Personal theory ahead: I think this song represents Asgore's life, and the different parts of it. It starts off peaceful, a little strange. This is his childhood. It then gets a little more intense and complicated t 0:16, signifying adulthood. At 0:50, he meets Toriel. This is why this part sounds like Toriel's theme, Heartache. As this part progresses, it becomes more complex and adds some background tracks. The background tracks are the kid that he has with Toriel, Asriel, and later, Chara. At 1:41, the music slows. This is the day that Chara and Asriel die, and Toriel divorces him. After this, the events of the game happen and in the neutral ending, you have a big fight with him. This is at 1:49, the most intense part of the song. It also brings back the Toriel, Asriel, and Chara tracks because this is what he is thinking about as he fights you. This is who he is fighting for. Though we know at 2:06, you prevail, and Asgore dies. This is why the music sounds like the determination theme. It's his game over.
@@pennywise8994 It would be pretty funny and not the first time something like this happens. But Toby fox has shown, that he knows how to put together songs that add to the story, if not tell their own in the context of the game, so it's not that far off a stretch. Otherwise, I believe there's still value in finding your own meaning in a work of art. That's what art is for in the end.
Nobody's gonna read this but meh. I introduced undertale to my mother and she loved it! suprised that no one really talks about how 2:06 is the game over theme referencing how asgore is the one that keeps encouraging you each time you die (most of the time at least)
The drop at 1:51 is my favorite part of the song. A huge epic crescendo complimenting the intensity of the fight and leading to the somber "Determination" section.
Yeah basically he realise the you living underground just wouldn't work and that toriel doesn't like him anymore so he kill himself so you can take his soul and go to the surface... but flowey destroy the soul.
Honestly, I think big part of why flowey/Asriel's big final fight works so well despite being so ridiculously long and difficult is because you really don't expect it at all. Asgore's fight was so goddamn good, emotional, epic and satisfactory that I legit thought it was straight up the end, and then BAM you get a cool ass cherry on the cake with an extra hour or so of gameplay out of nowhere. Beautiful game.

-His name is always mentioned in yellow by the characters' dialogue, meaning if the mercy button wasnt destroyed he would have been spared immediately.
-His battle sprite doesn't stare at you unlike the others, and his attacks seem to be all around the play area
-He holds his trident backwards because he is used to stabbing much smaller targets.
Wow you are a genius
Correct, but spoiling attack patterns is more like a game convention
@@doubleking1350 This is Toby Fox we're talking about, plus why would he do it with Asgore and not Sans for example
@@mayocult2025 because sans is a personification of revenge, attacks are very chaotic and there's no some extra foreshadowing tip to exade for a player, if you're talking about why asgore and not sans
@@mayocult2025 because sans violates every single game design principle for the sake of making the player mad (to be fair it was really funny) while asgore doesnt violate every single game design principle
This fight is so cleverly made. Not only does it offer a fun and interesting challenge, but the fight and its mechanics also carry so much narrative meaning. He's a broken old man, a shadow of his former self, and the mechanics of the fight reflect that. Lemme explain why:
First of all, lets start with the most obvious one: Him destroying the mercy button. There are two primary reasons for this:
1) His unbearable guilt.
His hands tremble for a moment."
Talk 2: "You tell ASGORE that you don't want to fight him. His breathing gets funny for a moment."
Talk 3: "You firmly tell ASGORE to STOP fighting. Recollection flashes in his eyes..."
The third option will cause both his defense and his attack to drop, as at this point, he has to actively force himself to continue fighting.
If you re-arrange the letters, it spells "Sage or Murderer."
And if you ask me, that question perfectly encapsulates his entire character.

Oh no
I really, really wish we got to see Asgore at full power.
Now he's just some old man living in the attic of his shop.
dont forget he can dodge too, undyne says that she trained with him but "couldnt land a hit on him"
most likely more powerful than sans too and not even talking about "dodge" stuff that is... just a joke sans does (after all to be honest... is not very impressive really since its same as sans having very high hp...high defenses are same as dodge)
another reminder: he is stronger than Udyne.
He was so brutal humans had to seal mountain with a barrier to end the war... that guy was stronger than any human most likely... he is an exception to monsters
now? He can't even look at your face as you fight. His eyes allways shadowed by his regrets
not only that but he also never lost to flowey, a creature made of determination with abilty to restart
Flowey had infinite amount of chance to learn his every move and perfectly counter him but he out matched him all the time...
@@neo1754 Bro felt so undeserving of mercy that he won't even bother to block or dodge.
There’s also the fact that he looks down for the battle, which means his attacks are thrown out randomly, if he was looking and therefore able to direct attacks he’d be even more powerful
He's more than just an old man living in an attic. He has those eerie flowers, I feel like they have something to do with him.

My friend: why does asgore destroy the mercy button
Me: i dont wanna cry again
It's theorized that the reason he destroys the mercy button is because normally, his name would automatically be yellow. Thus allowing you to spare him immediately, and thus be capable of ending the fight entirely.
Tho it could also be because of the fact that for the both of you, this is a go-for-broke final battle in your eyes: if you beat him, you take his soul and pass through the barrier. You go home. But if he wins, he gets the final soul he needs to break through the barrier, and the monsters can be free again.
Either way, it's a moment of desperation on both sides with high stakes.
This is so very true
@@theterrorofdimensions1326 this is a good theory, that make sense :O

0:25 - 0:33 is my favorite part. It just makes me feel really happy and sad at the same time, which just fits with the idea that even though Frisk is happy to go to the surface, he has to do it in the most difficult and sad way.
It basically is like a cruel moment of hope, a hope that is never received unless true pacifist route
2:06-2:23 is my favorite
@@landlord291 согласен. Отличный момент.
1:07 is my favorite part
cuz that's what this is, it's the end of your journey, you're finally going home, but that also means you're gonna leave all your friends behind to die in the underground, this theme only stops being sad once you're in the true pacifist, where you can save everyone and this little part becomes less of a "sad happiness" and more of a hope song, you hear more the happy part of the song when you're feeling good when you're neutral you can hear both sad and happy in this little part and in the song as a whole so you get mixed feelings as if you're doing something you must do/said you're to do but also that just feels wrong, this what both you(frisk) and asgore are feeling
fun fact: This is 2 themes. Bergentrückung is the intro. When the beat drops(A.K.A When you can select your menu buttons) that is called ASGORE.
The FACT that there is 2 facts makes this one the third.
The actual best part is what the name means. Bergentrückung. King Beneath the Mountain.
@@Deamons64 I thought it only means mountain king, german is confusing.
@@Deamons64 That's not what it means, King beneath the Mountain would translate to "König unterm (unter dem) Berg".
So german wikipedia says that basically the myth of Bergentrückung means that people do not die but move on to a place beneath the mountains, a underworld so to speak.
See a TALE that plays beneath a mountain in the UNDER world?
Berg = Mountain / Entrückung (entrücken: verb) = to move on
HOWEVER this myth was usually attributed to kings so your first translation while wrong was somewhat technically correct if you stretch it.

Asgore theme and fight are my favorites of the entire game, because:
1-Asgore breaks all expectations we had on him. in every dialogue, his name appears in red, which tries to create an image that he is mean and have to be feared. but when you first meet him, you can see he is an awesome and caring guy, which makes me go to:
2-He doesn't want to kill you, he doesn't want to take your soul, but that is the only thing he can do for his kingdom and people. some people really hate him because of that(i don't judge, what he did is really wrong), but don't try to see by his perspective. he doesn't want to hurt anybody, he just want people to have the freedom they always dreamed. you can see it when you use TALK and says that you don't wanna fight. he nods sadly because he doesn't want to fight too.

Personal theory ahead:
I think this song represents Asgore's life, and the different parts of it.
Interesting...
Lmao so deep
Lol imagine if we are all overthinking this. Toby: I just thought it sounded neat.
