It’s funny how you interact with Flowey/Asriel more times in combat than any other character (not counting the times Undyne catches you when you try to escape during your first meeting). You technically fight him once in the Ruins, as Omega Flowey, and then as Asriel. Even at the end of the genocide route, he’s the last life taken. It really shows how central he is to the story.
Another way of looking at it is that’s he’s the players equal, their rival, and in some cases their future should the player go the Genocide route. Before we arrived, he had the power to save and load, so Flowey experienced everything until he finally turned to murder, curiosity lead him there, and curiosity leads us there too. The only hint of the player being a seperate entity iirc is from Chara and like *maybe* a few other characters.

This song has gotten me through hard times, whenever I was tired, bullied at school, felt like I was losing my sanity , I would come to this song. It filled me with the determination to get rest earlier, stand up to my bullies, and get help from friends. Remember, never give up and follow your dreams, you just need to have determination and hope. (Reading this quote makes you feel something inside, hopefully it fills you with DETERMINATION)

while the actual flesh part of flowey is looking at frisk, the screen is looking at us, I think this Is a reference to when flowey talks to US as the player and not frisk after the pacifist playthrough
