Appreciate the detailed explanations. I'm just dealing with rotted sill plate at my place and this gave me proper ideas of sealing after the repairs done thank you 👍
I love the way you took time to explain step by step what you were doing. If I had to grade you I would give you an A+. Good job
Great decision to keep in the video the section when you changed your mind on the flashing tape spanning the empty space between the deck and the rim joist. This would catch debris, as you said, so it was a good idea to get rid of it. But so often videos are edited giving the impression that everything is simple and easy. Why then is everything much harder when we go to work on old houses in the real world. Thank you for leaving this in - it shows the importance the thought process behind the remedy. Great video! My house has similar problems and seeing you work through these issues was very helpful.
We all make mistakes it is how we work through them that matters. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Glad I could help.
Very useful video
I wish I knew how you lifted the sides to make room for the block and 2X.
I didn't see if they sagged in the middle and how you navigated the 2X in place or how you even made room for everything to fit tight without lifting
@brushcrawler8612 the 2x material slid right under because there was no foundation under that section of the house. I braced it up high enough to fit a 2 ton bottle jack under it then pushed it against the floor joists. Once there I over jacked the structure about 1 fourth of an inch. This allowed me the room to do my work. When finished I lowered the structure onto the new foundation.
What is the purpose of that flashing
To stop water splash from rain.
