What Is A Sliding T Bevel! Why Every Woodworker Needs this
First and foremost thanks for the info! Very informative. I had a similar situation at the cottage re: door moving when slammed closed. After the shims were placed, I filled the gap with low expanding foam to guard agains draft and cold. In my area, Crystal Lake Ontario, the temp in the winter sometimes dips below 30 degrees celsius.
Use a skill saw and set at 3/4 of an inch and cut squares out
What an outstanding way to explain power management. Thank you sir!
Need or can handle?
Nice video for stupid peeps.
This series has been so valuable to me that I subscribed. We had a new concrete patio poured off of the sliding doors that once led to a wooden deck. The patio slope away from the house is very adequate but vertical siding was cut to length so that the step down from house to patio was minimal which exposed the rim joist under that door to moisture wicking from the cement at the bottom which would of course spread to the entire member. I searched YT for ideas on sealing and finishing that area from water intrusion from rain splash and snow accumulation. I had a few ideas but no specific product knowledge or effective technique. This series has helped me immensely in coming up with a plan that will contribute greatly to a long term prevention of water damage to the rim joist. Thank you for sharing your knowledge in your content.
@@tuesboomer1623 I am glad I could help.
It’s me again what kind of extension cords do I need to run through my windows to supply power to the things I mentioned and how long ago was extension cord? Do you think I may need estimated need?
@mikeholcombe7111 heavy duty cords are the best way to go.
Thanks for the info very useful but I got a question if I had a 3600 W generator if I’m getting this right I can run my fridge and my TV and few lights and maybe a phone charger and if it’s summertime, maybe a couple of window air conditioner and if it’s winter time maybe a couple of electric heaters or is that too much wattage for the 3600
I have an extreme fondness for my circular saws, but your video has me wanting to use my reciprocating saw more, esp with a brush attachment!
So missing is placement of the angle instrument against the Sawset Miter Saw Protractor. Not well defined!
Do you use an inverter generator or standard generator?
@@MrBritrider a standard generator.
Your generator doesn't need any watts, lol, your house does
Upgrade from a 5 gal. bucket to a 30-32" trash can with either 2.5" or 4" cyclone ports to your shop vac.
Thank you!
You’re not the only person that’s having problems with luxury vinyl flooring or laminated flooring. I hope somebody files a major lawsuit against these companies.
I know you said you been in construction for years, but that siding you are puling off has been around for years, it is t111 plywood and not the smart siding. Also, I would have just put new siding over what is there, one important thing you forgot, anytime you put siding on walls especially t11 it is a must to use house wrap. It needs to breath and have some kind of barrier for moist and weather exposure. Other than that good video and at least you are getting it done.
Yeah I made that mistake on pouring mine right now and it came out blotchy and clumpy 😢 and now I just have to wait for it to Dry inside my house😅 I wish I had seen this video before I did this 😫😵💫
Thank you, your video has given me the courage to try to replace some baseboard trim.🙂
This is the best video iv seen on making these
Thanks for sharing this information, super helpful!
Removed from my recommended list.
Excellent video. God bless you and yours. Praying for you.
How do you do your vibrating? Thanks mate 😊👍
From the start of the pour until the form is about half full. Once full, I tap the edges with a hammer and vibrate at the same time .
That t111 is not cheap anymore.
Under what circumstances would one use an LVL (laminated veneer lumber) over PSL (parallel stand lumber) and vice versa?
PSL'S are usually used in wood frame construction for girders to support shorter spans of LVL'S. I am not an engineer. I just follow their plan. The reason they pick one or the other is flexibility. If things can't flex sometimes they will break.
@@detroitdiy Thank you so much for the prompt response sir!
A lot of beginners don’t own a miter protractors
The good thing is they are inexpensive and excellent to add to your collection.
Great advice here
Lifesaver! At about 5:40 plus you gave me the best method yet to simply and quickly note differing levels. I’ve got to sort out and level a new floor on sagging uneven joists and this is the best way to get my measurements that I’ve found. ❤
Glad I could help.
Jim thanks for video setting up dado blades I just got set for Father’s Day and you’re video was the best explanation how to set dado blades. Thanks also watched video to make zero clearance throat plate for dados.I just subscribed thanks again hope you put out more videos have a great weekend. You explain very well in you’re video great teacher.
Thank you!
Great idea with that jig. I suppose you could add one more piece to the bottom of the jig that sticks out in the back so the work piece would sit on that rather than the table top. Then you don't need a super flat bench.
Those yellow plastic miter boxes are so dangerous. I accidentally cut off my left leg, mid thigh, with that exact unit.
Does it require a smoother concrete surface or can be applied on rough concrete surface?
It will adhere better to a rough surface, just make sure it is clean.
im using it as a router fence.
It turned out really nice. Thanks for the great video.
This video made a day a lot easier! Thank you, sir!
If you need the complimentary angle mark the bench with the bevel, put framing square on the mark, mark the other leg of the square, and set your bevel to the new mark
When you set your chop saw with a bevel you can get the degrees off the saws degree scale. When I set a bevel I usually mark the bench or a board so if the bevel falls off the bench I can check it against the bench mark.
Thought I was listening to Donald Sutherland for a minute there...
I always liked his movies.
Is there a way to safely fuel a tiny generator without shutting it down? To connect an external tank?
What is the advantage of using LVL instead of a steel beam? In my opinion, the small difference in cost, when labor cost is factored in, is really a non issue. So why use LVL instead of steel?
You can easily attach other framing structures to an lvl. If it was a steel structure it would be a different story.
You wouldn't need the gym lugging that fecking monster all day LOL
I like sazsaws but I can do more with an angle grinder I can make an angle grinder more tools than that one
One of the things I see in may of these first time trial reviews is a slight misunderstanding of how the rubber fingers work in Bow's feather boards. When you try to test the holding power by pulling your work-piece back against the feather board, you will notice that the piece can move backward a few millimeters with minimal friction. That is because the laser-cut shape of the fingers allows some movement in both directions at first, but in the reverse direction the fingers lock one against each other, and AFTER they lock, the piece becomes VERY hard to move backward any further. That few millimeters of movement should not put anybody in danger.
What is the purpose of that flashing
To stop water splash from rain.
I need to do this for my house and wished that you could do it for me.
Unfortunately, I am crazy busy. Wish I could help everyone in need. That's the reason I create these video's. In hopes of helping people.
Great job 👍.
I have water heater like yours but it has water pan underneath it how do i clean out my water filter?
Going to try this method for cast in place. Does misting the top still apply?
Yes, only you are misting the bottom.
Would have been helpful if I could have actually been able to see what you were doing at the most important parts of the video but you blocked my view.
Could I use an 24' LVL over a 22' garage roof? I want to use it as a ridge beam. I will be putting a sheet metal roof on the garage. The LVL in question is a 1 3/4 x 9 1/2 1.9E. Thank you.
How did you find the highest spot?
I want a generator that I can use for welding and grinding, what size do I need?
Depends on the welder and grinder amp draw.
