I have been following Le Dan for many years now. Was not sure that a 2 Strike Horizontally opposed Twin could run with a common Crank case. I was not sure if the crank case compression would work. It does when the pistons are on the "downward stroke". Also helps with p[ort scavenging. Well it does an smoothly at that. Good one Dan. Next is to see this engine in a bike. Great work a while back you made a horizontally opposed twin engine, but both pistons shared a crank pin and I pointed out that it wasn’t truly a boxer. I had no doubt that you could build a boxer and I’m glad that you decided to do it. Awesome work keep it up.
I didn't think the 2t boxer could have a shared intake because one side would greedily suck everything first due to any slight port asymmetry. The advantage of the 2t boxer is the perfect balance (the rocking couple is quite marginal) and the split bearing load. So instead of reservicing one big engine frequently, you replace two sets of stuff but not as often, nominally lasting twice as long, more like time and a half irl. It looks great!
I think it still doesnt run smoothly because not enough fuel get sucked in. Edit: as i watched the video at 18:12 he turns off the engine with only one sparkplug removed and in theory it should not happen. Maybe im wrong im not sure.

You should either narrate or put subtitles to explain what you’re doing and why. It’d be a far more effective teaching tool than simple observation, still this is very interesting and informative, bravo master mechanic and machinist.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The holding bolts of the cylinder and crank assembly should be heavy as it is aluminium, we may see this on the road soon..you guys are crazy.... nice work..
I'm pretty sure I ran across a maytag two stroke opposed cylinder washing machine engine years ago,at that time I was into old make and break fly wheel engines the man wouldn't sale it but allowed me to at least get it running

At 12:10 you can see the oil pump drive gear is separate from the primary drive gear. When he spins the large gear only the primary drive gear spins on the crank because he hasn't fitted the clutch and the nut on the end of the crankshaft which clamps the gears together. When I say crankshaft, I mean what used to be the crankshaft in the original engine, now it is part of the 90 degree drive.

As you see in the videos, there’s heaps to be done with a mill and lathe 👍🏼

A CNC isn't some magic device for one off things like this a CNC would take some much longer and be no better

Tapered bearings would have been a better choice for handling the bevel gear axial loads. Ball bearings are not designed for that. Nice job!
