I don't think that bike will be breaking any world land speed records. I doubt very much if that engine would last more than a hundred miles. But great fun, and the bike looks good too.
My man must have some kind of engineering degree, he takes that already made and makes it much better. Nice job Mr Dan, can't wait to see what you build next. 🎉
I keep saying it every time I see something like this on you tube there are some very clever people out there given the backing and encouragement they could start their own business and succeed in doing so start up doing this and you will be popular with all motorcycles enthusiasts all over the world plain and simple motoring ❤❤❤
at the beginning it looked like an Allen Millyard project but this more like a Dick Strawbridge & Allen Millyard Scrapheap Challenge Robin-Honda special. quite incredible repurposing, adaptation, recycling and good raw engineering skills.
I've been following his channel for a long time, before this brand new channel, he build more than on this channel, unfortunately, his old channel were hacked 😢 He is truly my inspiration, never give up on everything 😊🎉👏🏻
I think this was the longest video I´ve ever fully watched on RUclips. What an awesome built, respect! I came here because I want to make 1 out of 2 lawn mower engines. Also a two-cylinder, but with separate crankcases. Your build has given me some ideas. Thank you!
Thank you Le Dan for your perfect work, making a little boxer from used Honda's parts like you do astound me 😮 as an engeneer you made this happening so easely...Your knowledges on material résistance are good and all on this pretty little bike have its place 😊❤ love it !
Wow there are some clever people in this world. It sometimes over whelms me watching what others are able to achieve by thinking outside of the square, sometimes it's due sheer raw intelligence or necessity. Oh whatever it is I love it
I see he has a safety glove for his left hand [work vice] and safety soles.. what more could there be what! glasses u want glasses? I saw some glass fall from his facial altitude so clearly from falling safety glass at 6:01.
@@discoverneweyes I'm also convinced that the carb is not supposed to spit raw petrol out the back... he's got a potential flame thrower there as well. So if you take into consideration his attention to PPE, and his safeguards NOT in place. I can see he will get his leg hairs all burnt off and the soles of his feet ripped off when he stops! But at least he can tell his friends he built a 100cc motorbike out of two inexpensive lawnmowers and a 1970's bike frame! LOL
The porting on the piston is set for max power at low RPM . Cause it’s a lawnmower engine not a high RPM engine. You might have to do work on the port timing. I see it smokes back through the carb which indicates it can’t blow out the exhaust gases to match the intake of air and fuel. Nonetheless still a very cool build bro!! Great skills you have!!👍
You are so much more clever, industrious and talented than I will ever be. This was amazing to watch. You just fabricated a completely different motor from bits of a couple of motors. It looks like you've done this a time or two before.
If this guy had real legit tooling and a modern machine shop and CNC like I have here, he'd just be incredible. I cringe at the design and strength of that crankshaft, as that will be the failure.. but for the tools he had, I'm just in awe at how well he designed and hand-crafted this. I could not do it because of time, and lack of sheer knowledge of 2-stroke engine design.. but WOW! Amazing job!
Very cool build. For better Performance, use two seperate crankhousings.. so you go from boxer 2 cylinder to flat 2 cylinder. I respect all your builds🤝
I once fixed a zipper on my backpack that had lost its pull tab by putting a zip-tie where the pull tab had been. So I can totally relate to this video. Unconventional engineering is just easy for some people. What you did was pretty awesome for sure. Not exactly sure if its as good as my zip-tie zipper but its definitely up there. 🤔
Two cylinders running off a common crankcase often has this exact problem: because of slight differences in rod length, ring height, etc while the intake, transfer and power strokes are synchronized and one cylinder robs power from the other. The most common way of preventing this is boosting the pressure in the crankcase which brings its own issues with blowing out crank seals.
👏👏👏👏👏👏 more than 30 min of my full attention! Again!!! As a simple technical comment, I really don´t like how it sounds well when idling (damaged connecting rod or crankshaft bearings?) but , wow, when you open the throttle, it sounds just like olders BMW R Series!!! Man, you're worth a lot...keep on!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
That is some remarkable work! I'm amazed at what a human mind can come up with, and then to have the machining skills, welding skills, and other technical knowledge to make this work out. And it looks super cool to boot! Good on you. The idea of splitting the ignition spark between two spark plugs is something I'd of never thought of. I was wondering what you going to do about that through the entire build, especially since I saw that you resolved the balancing issue by remaking the crankshaft and adding a second rod journal. I guess with a two stroke you needed to do it that way. This was a very interesting and super cool project.
That was incredible. I was wondering how you would keep the crankcases separate from each other, because it relies on creating a low pressure in the crankcase on the upstroke of the piston to draw in fuel mix, and compress it on the piston downstroke to shoot it up through the transfer ports, then I saw you had a disc between the two conrods... chef's kiss
Velocette designed and built just such an engine but with a reed valve. Your achievement is remarkable. With reed valves you can cut back the piston skirt as it does not need to block the crankcase port, reducing friction, but you would probably need to enlarge the exhaust ports.
Everybody seems to have some sort of negative thing to say about whatever people make, but they'd never show us themselves making something out of nothing.I think the guy did a pretty darn.Good job and it's stuff like this but that I like to watch instead of some so called influencer going out doing stupid pranks on the public
Very Impressive 🤔, Nice Work, Many Hour's Of Machining And Planning, And It All Paid Off Very Nicely 👍, This Video Reminded Me Of The Many Different Prototypes Of Early Motorcycle Designs, That Both Succeeded And Failed Throughout Time, Very Nicely Done 😲🫡😁👍 !
Wonder if facing the intake side of the carb into the wind would help push all that fuel mixture in, a reed valve system wouldn't be a bad idea either way and could probably make a reed cage that just mounts to the intake before the carb so he wouldn't have completely redesign the entire system.
@@kcraig51 It is now a boxer with a common intake, so one piston is at TDC and one at BDC. As soon as the piston port opens to induct, the other piston crankcase is opened up to it. What ever pressure difference there is has to go somewhere and the only escape route is the carburettor inlet. It needs reed valves on each crankcase or two carbs.
So cool! Afaik so far, there was only one production motorcycle ever built with a 2-stroke boxer, the IFA BK 350 from GDR. There was also a 4-cylinder double boxer by König (Germany) for racing, based on a boat engine.
this guys "projects" always start and run, quite well with minimal, extra fine machining and tuning...etc...hes an absolute genius..!!
He's really good at editing also
Красавцы, слов нет! Смотрел завороженно, с раскрытыми глазами весь ролик. Мое почтение. Работа великолепная
might be able to make it a little more efficient if you put a reedvalve in the inlet , this prevents blowback through the carb
Yeah, in the center of the cranckshaft would be aweasome
Yes reed valves on each barrel and separate carburetors to stop the pulses from interfering
@@BrianjSiehr naah, 1 carb is good since this engine does not produce much power
It is a piston operated intake. Instead of reed valves the piston is controlling opening and closing the intake

I get the feeling it would truly benefit from some thorough fettling.
As others have said, reed valves will fix that issue. Port timing/overlap that makes upper rev range power creates this issue at low rpm

Needs reed blocks in the intake. fantastic build.
Piston port engines don't use reed valves. Notice no reeds in the disassembly of the original engine.
Might be worth remembering they started out as lawnmower motors,
they're unlikely to use or need reed valves.
Wonder if facing the intake side of the carb into the wind would help push all that fuel mixture in, a reed valve system wouldn't be a bad idea either way and could probably make a reed cage that just mounts to the intake before the carb so he wouldn't have completely redesign the entire system.
I agree. If you see fuel blowing back through the carb, that pressure is coming from somewhere. All it would need is really light reeds.
