    This was the best instructions on changing in cabin filter, others didn't explain how to get door off where filter is located.

    Yup. Not more than 10 minutes. Didn’t take the dash side off (I break stuff too easily). I didn’t even know about cabin air filters, so this one is from factory, 120,000 miles and countless dog and cat rescue transports. I really appreciated the hemostat tip. Honestly putting that last clip on took the longest, so was super thankful having the hemo on it.

    So very well done, easy to follow, plenty of light, correct angle to show exactly what you are doing, entertaining as well. Completely agree with the mind of an engineer, they think differently and in this case it applies to automotive design engineers, software engineers, electrical engineers you name it. Thanks for the great job.

    ALL horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow direction. Otherwise the blower motor would have dirt and debris trapped inside of it.

    I too followed your instructions on my 2019 Explorer. After I removed the side panel and the pull wire, then the top two clips, there was no room to get my hand through the limited space. This is because the door only opens till it hits the cross bar below it. I am reluctant to take the cross bar off. Did you remove the bottom cross bar so the door would open wider? What year Explorer did you change the cabin filter in? After looking at some other videos, I think that cross bar is actually an air bag.

      Mine was a 2018 xlt, kind of basic model. My door was able to open quite a bit after the top stops were released out of the dash as the video showed. I’m not sure why some can open and others can’t. If it still feels tight, play it safe and remove the bottom 2 white hinge clips. They should slide towards the center and pop loose from the dash.

    Hardest part is removing the filter door. Wish you would have filmed the actual Removal. Thx anyhow

    Do yourself a favor and remove the 2 white hinge pins before doing anything else so you don't break the hinges and have to buy a new glovebox.

    Did you leave the glove box door on while you changed out the filter ?
    Just let it hang ?

    • @C10TruckNerd
      @C10TruckNerd  Год назад

      I let it hang. I had my knee under it but you could also put a board or something under to keep it from popping the hinges loose.

    I have a 2014 Explorer w/v6 engine. I followed the video but when I the open the box past the stops and let it hang there's not enough room to get to the filter housing

    • @C10TruckNerd
      @C10TruckNerd  2 года назад

      If yours won’t give you the space, slide the white hinges in at the bottom of the door and it will come off.

  • @k3ystrum_751
    @k3ystrum_751 2 года назад +3

    RUclips family, I’d advise you to slide the bottom white clips if possible. If you choose to go his way be prepared to squeeze through a narrow opening which can potentially break the bottom clip if you attempt to squeeze through. I will have to assume that Chad also disassembled it prior to videoing it.

    • @C10TruckNerd
      @C10TruckNerd  2 года назад +4

      My hands fit in the opening and I have never broke anything. As long as I release the box all the way down there was no reason for me to pull the clips. I have changed that filter several times over the years, so thats how I learned to do it this way. Reinstalling the white clips can be a pain since I can’t see them very well. Thanks for your input!

      I followed your video and broke the hinge when I pulled down slightly on the glove box trying to get to the filter. Found the removable pins after the fact...

      I can concur, it broke my right clip that holds onto the white piece. Popped it back on tho so it’ll do! Unfortunately for those of us with foot air bags.. this is our only option (chads video) as the airbag covers the white pegs that you’re recommending be removed.

      @@KHunterK3if you have a leg/foot airbag it doesn’t matter you can’t remove them anyways! Count ur losses and just be glad ur air is cleaner now.

    10 mins., L. M . A. O. !!!
    No mention of removing the White clips that whole glove box . They are plastic and a bitch too remove .
    Now the filter cover, again plastic .
    Total time more like2 Hours and be damn careful not to break plastic .
    Want more challenge,,
    Find the fuse panel and try and remove a simple fuse .

      Good call! I don’t know why other vids say to remove hinge clips. Extra unnecessary step! I just open the box past the stops and let it hang. I still had enough room to get to the filter housing. I’ve seen too many folks break the clips or not be able to get them back in. You can save so much time leaving them in. You are so right with all the plastics! Sometimes I think parts are built to break…Thanks for watching!

      Right? Sometimes I think a shade tree mechanic should be on the payroll to just watch and say “that’s going to be a problem later!”
