- I've had this Q50 for about 4 years now and there are some things about it that I just don't like! Here is a list of a few that are at the top of my head!

Hey bud, I’ve mentioned in your videos before that I am an Infiniti tech. I have a little info on the I key and blend door if you’d like.
I’ve replaced the blend door it takes like 10 minutes. You need a stubby Phillips head screwdriver. There’s a air vent blocking the motor, you undo the tab facing towards yourself and just pull it out of the way, it’s hooked on the other side with a tab also. There is a bracket over the motor that’s held with a Philips head, and 2 in the motor. The second screw is hidden behind the motor you have to feel for it. I’d recommend getting the new lever arm for the motor as well.
The I key can save seat, radio, and hvac setting if you get the setting’s where you want, press the “set” button on the drivers door, and I believe either of the number buttons need to be pushed in a few seconds afterwards along with holding down the unlock button on your fob, it should beep I believe.

seems like a pretty well known infiniti issue, have a bunch of spots on my q right now and the paint on my g37 was falling apart too, ridiculous for a "luxury" car brand

Screen being a dust magnet had me rolling. So true. The cold AC only on the passenger another thing i am dealinmg with as well. But i live in Arizona where its a pain in the ass. I also have the forgestar f14 on my q50
I love my 2014 Q50. Sure it has its quirks, but there’s more to love than it is to hate about the Q50😊
Heater hose, AC door blend actuator driver side, and valve body have all been replaced at 70k miles 🙄 look out for those

For users, atleast for my q60 red sport, it'll change the seat position & steering wheel position based on the key fob. (Ie key fob 1 = user 1, key fob 2 = user 2).
Same with my 2013 g37x
Just did my blend door actuator last week 😀took literally 40 seconds you don't have to remove anything but the screws

In response to the observation about driver profiles, my Q50 (2016 RS400) does remember seat position for each user at least. It doesn't save much else (have to manually change drive mode every time you turn it on, for example), but at least I don't have to worry about the seat being moved if someone else drives it. I just put them into guest mode and they can do whatever they want without changing mine.
the thing about the shifter is so true. I just haven't found an affordable paddle shifter set yet
Hey J, I recently (less than a month ago) had to replace the blend door actuator on my 2015 Q50. Ended up being $110 shipped from a semi-local Infiniti dealership.
I did the install, and it was a bit more of a pain than I was expecting. Lets just say your back may hurt after from the ridiculous positions you have to get in to reach it.

On my 2014 sport with tech package it saves seat position, saved radio stations, steering wheel position, and mirrors I think.
I 100% agree. Also the past month I've been trying to keep my gas mileage up but now I'm burning about half a quart of oil each tank.
Use amsoil signature series oil and oil consumption will stop . Bet
Your so right about the paint I had a scratch on my trunk and my dad says it comes off with wax u scrubbed with micro towel and left a million scratches

Facts on the gas mileage, I noticed it after my tune and constantly driving in sport mode. I am at a consistent 15 mpg. My windows do the same shit after it rains, I think because of the ceramic tint I have. My user settings save though, except drive mode. I always have to set that.
I've been watching your videos since I also have 2014 q50 3.7. I've listened to your advice and put drop in filters instead of CAI. Maybe I can help you with your 2nd con of the vehicle. I recently purchased aucar mk 6 for the infotainment and it just elevates my car to next level. You should get it. It doesn't improve gains, but since you dropped few hundred on steering wheels just on looks, you could invest in that tesla style screen. It'll give you much better immersive screen and have android/apple carplay and watch Netflix and etc.. you'll still be able to keep your infiniti infotainment software. Took me hr and half to install
Not much into tech although I do like the look. The steering wheel was sponsored so it’s not a big investment for me
It's sad the soft paint thing is still an issue. My 07 maxima has the same problem lol
I have a 2016 Q50 RS400 and I've always felt like it just doesn't pull as hard as it should. It seems like the engine is held back and I don't know if it's a tuning problem, a lackluster transmission, or *something* just isn't quite right. I like the car but the constant nagging feeling like there's something wrong bugs me.
Just changed my actuator the other day I have the sport model so I think it’s located a little higher than base/premium (could be wrong) but it was a bit frustrating trying to work in such a small area but you’ll get it haha goodluck speed.

Measure your gas usage by resetting your odometer and paying attention to the next fill up. Don't trust the gauges, I find them off by many MPG...User settings, on your version, only control the presets of the radio...With seat controls, it'll adjust the seat to the key....for me, it doesn't do that either and is somewhat pointless. But, 2 drivers of a car do get different presets
I am diligent with tracking fuel mileage. The car sucks it down while idling

Just test drove a 2015 q50 with the actuator out as well. Maybe the g37 era had better electronics?
It's just a little actuator. I wouldn't consider it "electronics" really, but it definitely is a common failure in the Q
My Q50 doesn't do that. I idle with the a/c on in Atlanta eating lunch and dont have that MPG issue. The wet window thing happens to me every time.
I have a q50 2016 low miles I get great gas mileage but the other things you mentioned are facts. They need to upgrade their technology package. Bluetooth doesn’t always connect. The apps are useless. Is there a software upgrade?
Dont forget the heater hose that tend to fails , annoying to replace
I have 93k miles on mine (had since 27k miles) and I haven’t had problems with it. My interior still looks good (no peeling), the dusty screen is so true, the 2 screens is cool and different but I never use the apps, I’ve sat for an hour multiple times and still have 19+ mpg…I guess I’m one of the lucky one

is 19+ not bad? Mine has been at 19.7-19.9 for the past month or so but before that I was at 22 consistently. I jumped on changing the spark plugs partly because of that so I changed them last weekend. I sit idle all the time though and my mpg doesn’t really change. maybe that’s what’s keeping it stagnant?

My Redsport idles for hours and does mostly highway miles and i get 19.9MPG average and I run 19lbs of boost all the time

Dude fo squicky windows is super easy fix just spray some silicone lube compound on the windows channel s run them up and down a couple times .

Thanks for this! I wonder - with the fuel mpg calculator: What if it's not really true/correct mpg but an estimate calculator that is off for some reason. I know the one in my 2010 Infiniti G7's mpg calculator is off (in a different way).
In Your Opinion, would a BMW have better Build Quality?
In terms of quality materials and innovation, BMW is better. But if you're talking about cost of ownership--maintenance, repairs etc. Infiniti might have the advantage.

Except my windows dont make those noises try diff brand tint maybe or maybe mines will do it soon 🤦♂️
It’s a pretty common Q50 complaint when there is a little moisture on the window-tint or no tint doesn’t matter. You’re a lucky one if it doesn’t happen to you!
Is personal mode better to have it in vs sport mode? I see you when you launch the car it’s mostly in personal ?
I have active trace control off in personal mode while sport keeps it on, so I’m always in personal mode
The thing i hated about mine was the steering . I didn’t have the same traditional steering as the 3.7 Q50 owners i had the bs electric steering and no feedback, no engagement, horribly numb
Definitely not a fan of the electronic steering!

There will always be an issues with a car. They are designed to break after a while. I have a q50 and also had a Honda. Big difference between the two as far as durability and economy wise. But more and more people are actually driving q50 typically 2014-2019 than ever. So I know how you feel with certain things. This car was never meant to be modified just looked luxurious enough to get to point a to b.

Unit went bad. Try unhooking the battery for awhile and see if they reset

PB Blaster Silicone lubricant will solve your window issue. Just spray those rubber guides.

Infiniti's are some of the worst cars when they idle because they guzzle gas. I have a 2011 M56S, well tuned, that can get 23 to 25 miles per gallon highway driving on the hwy @ 70 to 80 mph. If you sit for 10 to 15 minutes at idle, that's just about a gallon of gas and you will notice your overall mileage when it's time to refuel has reduced by 20 miles.
