- The Pain arc of Naruto is regarded by many fans as being one of the best, if not the very best arc of the series. However, after Hinata Hyuga risked everything to save Naruto, after Naruto vs Pain took a turn for the worse with Naruto being captured, many fans began to ask the following question: why didn't Sakura do anything! Almost a decade since these chapters have come out, the question still lingers in the fandom, with some people going so far as to say that Sakura was completely useless in the Pain arc. However, is this actually true? Is the criticism of Sakura worth it or did Kishimoto have a bigger end game in mind?

What sakura did during pain attack:
Kills one of Pain's giant centipede and saves a little girl
Goes to the hospital and heals the injured
After the attack, she immediately goes to Tsunade and takes care of her
Orders to evacuate the village
Heals Hinata and saves her life
Sakura don't want no smoke against pain
But Hinata I want all the smoke against pain still loses though but still help naruto though unlike that useless Sakura

the simple fact that Sakura is a doctor makes her useful. She save the lifes during the anime and it important for me.

That's also what I was saying! Plus Sakura was healing the injured in the first moments, then she took care of Tsunade and she didn't know what was going on in the fight between Naruto and pain until it was too late
Sakura here thinks with the brain, while Hinata thinks with the heart because love Naruto, that is the difference.
That, and also Sakura had a duty as a medic and she didn't know what was going on where Naruto and Pain were fighting
Hinata without byakugan would have tried to get close enough to see Naruto, that is to think with the heart without measuring the risks.

Sakura did her job as a medic, saved many people's lives, saved a child, saved Hinata. Took care of Tsunade when she entered the coma. And she was far away from where Naruto was fighting. What was she supposed to do? Left her duty and let people die?
Be shown saving more people, I'd imagine, instead of us just be told that she is doing so (especially in more extreme ways, since the understanding I hear from most is that there were multiple medical ninja saving lives at that point, which makes Sakura's "saving people" feats less impressive due to it being shown as bog-standard overall).

And what do you mean there's a lot of healers? As far as we know there's only Sakura, Tsunade and Shizune. In the image I linked to you she even said that she couldn't keep up with how many people needed her, so what are you trying to say?

People need to learn that Sakura has responsibilities as medical ninja and it doesn't always involve fighting.
Imagine being a kindergarten teacher during an attack from Godzilla. Would the best course of action be: a) putting the kids at ease and taking care of them?; b) trying to attack Godzilla? Sakura did what she had to do, and she did it well.

She definitely helped out a lot . She one shotted pain summonings that jonin we’re getting whooped by and saved a child and her grandmother , then went to the hospital and was the main medic (wasted all her chakra healing the injured same as tsunade )

Well I could argue on basis of probability. Most ninja are Chunin and those guys didn't even really deal with the centipede in the first place and Jonin level can certainly deal with the centipede especially multiple Jonin working together. The situation is just blown out of proportion by Sakura fans I think. No biggie cause she gets really strong later it's just retarded to read into the centipede battle as if Sakura took it down in one hit while several Jonin were being demolished by it when that's not even remotely the case.

Sakura was doing her job as a medical ninja. Tsunade wasn't capable of healing, so Sakura has to do the job.
If she went in to fight pain, she'd get defeated like Hinata, and then haters will say she was useless. But then that's basically saying Hinata was useless as well since she was easily defeated as well.
People also say she should've unleashed the byakugo, when they knew she couldn't. If they had been listening and watching, they would know that tsunade wouldn't hand her that risky, challenging assignment at the start of her training. And she was still in the process of storing chakra.
People easily forget the medical ninja rules that is stated by Tsunade herself and think that her being stubborn and don't care about the rules will help her character. She did what she had to do, because if she died, all the characters she saved would be gone, dead. But they make the excuse of any other medical ninja could do it, well, kishimoto didn't make it that way, so they just make up more stuff to talk. She did what she had to do and that's it.

While they may be ninjas, their main job is being a medical ninja. they heal people first before they fight. anyone with little medical ninjutsu are mainly ninjas who fight and are only capable of healing minor injuries, meanwhile tsunade and sakura can heal any type of injury, poison, illness, etc. Hinata did her best to fight pain but she was never a match.

Also Sakura knew that they weren't many people with byakugan and many people around them who could fight e.g. shikamaru and his father weren't near someone with byakugan. If she did it because of this she would attack madara at ince but she didn't she did it when she realized it was necesary.There were 4 kages near her who could fight but she attacked because she knew it was necessary

There were so many ninjas dead including hyugas. The only hyugas we saw are hinata, the guy near her and they guy near sakura. There wasn't a hyuga near shikamaru and his father. I honestly wish she did unlock the seal during the pain arc, if Naruto and Sasuke were SANNIN level then, well why can’t Sakura become Sannin level too? Why did it take a whole war arc for her to become Sannin level? Then after, she could’ve improved her abilities, or learned the Eight Gates. Maybe learn kenjutsu as well.

Because in the first part of the attack she was in the hospital healing the injured, then she was assisting Tsunade who was in a coma. Sakura also didn't know what was going on with naruto until Hinata already jumped in

I completely agree! Both were NOT useless in this arc. Sakura saved lives and was doing her job, if Sasuke was in danger she wouldn't think twice about saving him just like Hinata did. Hinata indirectly saved lives by triggering Naruto into Kyuubi mode when he was pinned down and almost defeated. Didn't Tsunade even stated that those without the Byakugou cannot go out into battle to fight especially when the people are injured and is in danger when it comes to their lives.
She actually took out one of pain's summonings. After this iruka tells her to assist the medical unit. Which she goes to do. When she gets there the medical team puts her in charge because they were backed up and didn't know how to handle it. A little while after this pain uses all mighty push to destroy the village and we see sakura come out of katsuya who was from tsunade's long distance healing. And naruto show's up a few seconds after this.
When naruto went beserk Sakura ordered a immediate evacuation of the village because she knows from previously that when naruto is like that he doesn't know friend from foe.

Honestly never realised why Hinata was "praised" for showing up infront of Pein. She potentially put Naruto's life in danger. Had it not been for Minato, Naruto would have lost it and the village would have been destroyed.

While Hinata was fodder in the fight against Pain nobody else would do any better against him and she still tried to help in her own way when no one else couldn't step in to save Naruto from a near death experience. While she got a few sequences in the Anime it was to emphasise her sacrifice if anything to save Naruto and while it's filler because the Manga is one page she still risked herself to rescue Naruto especially when she knew she was gonna die

First of all, she couldn't see the fight between Pein and Naruto so there wasn't anything that she could really do. Hinata had the byakugan and was able to see the fight between Pein and Naruto so she jumped in the fight seeing that Naruto is losing. Also, she was healing several of injured civilians in Konoha during the Pein attack and before Pein destroyed the hospital. She defeated one of Pein's summoning resulting into killing the creature and, saved a young girl's life. She also saved and healed Hinata after she got her shit rocked from Pein. Not to mention, Tsunade who was exhausted her entire chakra from Pein's shinra tensei. She was in life-threatening condition and Sakura needed to stay by her side to help her. Naruto even told everyone to not interrupt or join his fight since he wanted to fight Pein all by himself. He even told Tsunade so I'm not getting your point here. Sakura did her job as a medical ninja and tend the wounded. You really expected for her to 1 v 1 Pein even when Naruto couldn't beat him by himself but Kurama had to help Naruto in order to defeat Pein. That's ridiculous. Stop talking shit before you know facts.

Thank you for this video. Sakura is a very smart girl and efficient in chakra control, so she knows how not to waste it. Going in to fight Pain as a medic would be a waste because she's smart enough to know that at that time her talents were best used taking care of people. If Pain Hinata'ed Sakura then who was going to heal? They say why didn't she release her seal and fuck him up? Because she couldn't and that was explained in the war arc. Why didn't Tsunade? I don't think he even wrote it into the story yet. They would call her useless either way because she can't win with people. The hate for her is too strong. Hinata annoyed me doing what she did, he didn't love her back. Naruto would have went berserk over Sakura before Hinata.
She would get wrecked. Everyone present would. When Shikamaru wanted to help him out, his dad bluntly told him that Naruto is in league of his own and that they would only be an inconvenience to him.

Sakura vs Pains Rods that pins Naruto down = one shot, cuz all she needs to do is one punch to the ground, the ground cracks, the rods are no longer pinning him down, Naruto is up and get the rods out of him or Sakura does it and he gets a little bit of healing from Sakura and/or Naruto gets Sakura out of the danger zone, I think that even Kishimoto knew this.
The only reason why Hinata was there to begin with is cuz Kishimoto forgot about her existence for around 100 chapters(287 and 394), then for 40 chapters(394 and 437), while the anime version Shippuden had her in 90 episodes doing more stuff then the manga ever made her do. Kishimoto said; " I don't know why is she so popular", I don't know either, maybe its cuz of the anime made a filler arc with her dancing naked as a 13 year old and create a new jutsu? or SP changing the poster from the manga that had Minato and Naruto 8 tails to Naruto 8 tails and Hinata? or the fanservice? or the animations for her scenes were sometimes better then the MCs( Sasuke doesn't have emotions, Sakura character design is wrong and Narutos fight with Pain and many other fights are cartoon-ish). So going back he saw people like Hinata, so he gave her this scene

Quincy Quincy Sakura understood what her main priority was. That is healing and saving lives which was what she exactly did. Hinata although brave, didn’t listen to naruto and went in without a plan of action. She was careless and selfish. She could have acted as a distraction to pain and have backup to get naruto free from the rods. Though plot runs deep don’t it..?

When you guys say the Huyga wasn’t giving Sakura the play-by-play, there was no play-by-play to give when Hinata came onto the battlefield. She confessed her feelings and was then despatched in 1 page.
Since SP extended Hinata’s fight against pain, the fandom calls into question why everyone was standing there while Hinata was fighting for her life when the answer was she was defeated in three panels, literally, and nobody realized it until it was too late.
Sakura is a main character so they compare her to Naruto and Sasuke so compared to them she is useless and Hinata is a side character so of course she is going to do less then Sakura.
Its not that Hinata was a problem for pain or anything, it's that *she actually tried to help naruto* instead of just crying and hoping he fixed everything.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. But, that would also leave Naruto at a disadvantage because he has to focus on protecting Sakura until she gets back to safety. So now that I think about it, Naruto telling everyone including Tsunade to stay out of the fight because it would make his job more difficult is smart and makes sense.

It would have been nice to see after the Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc Tsunade scolding Sakura for fighting Sasori, but showing how worried, proud and relieved she is. I think that would have been Tsunade’s reaction to finding out about Sakura disobeying the rule of medical ninjas. Or even in the Pain arc, maybe Sakura would try to go to the battlefield and Tsunade would catch her and say that she’s on her way. She needs to stay. I think these are very small details, but putting these could have at least lessen the thoughts about Sakura being weak. I know all of these are supposed to be implied, but having to see these kind of scenarios where Sakura is being torn between her duty as a medic and a fighter would have made things more obvious for the audience.
Also, I love how you pointed out that if Sakura went to fight Pain, her losing would just add to all of her haters’ arguments. They are just biased against her.
