this is a video of changing the cam position sensor on the GM 3.1, 3.4 v6 engine in this video there is a motor mount plate being removed this is only for the 99-2005 Pontiac Grand Am, and Oldsmobile Alero other than that the video applys to everything from these engine years. this is usually signified an issue by the dtc codes p0340 or p0341 but testing can be done to test the hall effect sensor

  • @fernesal

When they make this engines they start piling up one part over another. They don't care how it's going to be serviced. Things like serpentine belt, csps, sparkplugs are among the most none sense spots.

Hey Joe, Thanks for your videos, great way to learn and break things down for people who don't know much about cars. After letting my car sit for six weeks I had 6 codes pop on my 2004 chevy impala 3.4 and three of them were sensors Knock, camshaft, and crankshaft, any suggestions where I should start or could this possibly be a wiring issue? Just changed the spark plugs and this seemed to help a bit. But still having same issues with car starting then immediately dying.

I have an 05 Pontiac Grand am (6c). One day of getting up going to the store, my car drove fine as usual. I noticed after getting back in the car to start it up, it did just that but it cut off on me after backing up(my battery is good and i have a half a tank of gas). I restarted the car but the only way i could keep it running was i had to keep giving it gas all the way home. I haven't moved it since then but ill go check and see if it would crank or not. After a few tries it'll start but cut back off?? Any suggestions??

I wish I could have commented this a year ago, but it's more than likely the idle air control valve or your mass airflow sensor that needs to be replaced. I had the same problem today and I noticed my IAC valve was out of position due to the screws coming out. I replaced it ($50) and it drove just fine after that.
