Finally! A video that actually shows what the darn bolts look like! "Pro" Tip: Don't take your vehicle apart over the course of years without labelling things or you too will be spending hours trying to find a video or pictures of stupid bolts! P.S. Irony is I used the 5.4 Triton timing videos to fix my truck about a year before I found this video.
This video is a god send. We were looking yesterday and thinking ok, washer reservoir out, alternator out and power steering pump as well. It's a good thing the only thing pulled so far is the washer tank🤙
Thanks for this video. I was able to do this job in a couple of hours, and so far the car is running smoothly. You almost scared me off with the bit about supporting the engine, but I found a different video that briefly showed it, and I was able to figure it out. Don’t know much about cars but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Thanks again
if the wires break off the sensor and the sensor stays stuck in the engine (way too common). screw a long drywall screw straight into the sensor and then use pliers to remove. i have had to do this dozens of times
This video helped alot . Bad news is since I have no tools and never tried taking anything apart on my car besides hosee es and batteries and reservoirs and tires lol. This looks like a job for my trustee mechanic until I feel more comfortable and time to sit down at my own pace . Never really had anyone teach me growin up despite me loving cars since i was old enough to say the word . Thank u .
good video, camera angles could see what was going on. good audio, clear procedure explanations. best of all... he didnt try to be funny, or cameo shots of a dogs ass, or talk about his vacation.... just to the ponit on how to do the job. great video.
Well we’ll done video idk if I could of done it any better or showed it as easy as u did plus it’s perfect for ppl whom don’t have special tools like tensioner tool extra . Good job sent it to my daughter in Florida and she was able to understand it better then me explain it to her thank you 👍🏼🤙🏼😊🙏🏼
For once a clear and concise video that actually shows you how to do something No camera wind noise no heavy breathing no babbling no constant tools constantly click clacking against the throughout the entire video Thanks dude👍🏼👍🏼
Just got into bed after doing this and oh my god was it hell first my csp sensor got stuck the plastic housing around it snapped after using it for leverage couldn’t route the wires through how the oem ones where (under a vacuum line) once i finally got the damn steering pump back into place I spent a good half hour just trying to mount the pump because the thing wouldn’t stop moving anyways a few swings with a breaker bar swears and curses and now dedicating one of the said bolts to the extra optionals pile I now have a stripped battery terminal and have to wait on that very fun gm very fun…
Very good video I congratulate you, thanks for sharing these videos .. greetings from beautifull sonorous mexico !! joshua rodriguez .. I subscribed to your channel !
It's a good video but unfortunately this does not apply to the 3.4L V6 in a Buick Rendezvous as the PS lines are routed UNDER the alternator not on top like yours. Now way for me to remove the PS pump without disconnecting the lines (thanks GM).
Get some one to get number or letters Off of it and color and Look it up on a Line it be cheaper to and what car it comes of don't take but 3 or 4 days to get it thru mail from a car company
Some later models I've come across require the removal of the power steering pump pulley to gain clearance past the intake and front cover there, so some viewers will want to make sure the have a puller or rent one from a parts store. I like the wood screw technique, I'll have to try that if I ever have the wires break.
What should I do if my camshaft sensor is stuck, I tried to pull it of same way the guy in the video did but the wires came clean off and I'm stumped..
The sensor is plastic so what you do is screw in a drywall screw and that gives you a place to grip onto it with a vice grips to wiggle and twist it out.
Never ever grab and pull anything by the wires.... That will prevent another accident next time. You are looking at a good set of circular grip plyers Or rig something up with zip ties around the sensor and pull with a better tool
It's possible to put a small flat blade screwdriver to the edge of the sensor and gently tap it under and pry a bit and it should come out. If you broke the wires, the pigtail is available for the replacement sensor or a separate part. And just splice the new pigtail to the old wires and it's a fix.
I did this today in about 2 hrs on my 99 malibu. My car still wont start...wants to start but dies right away. attempting fuel filter replacement tomorrow

QUINCY WILLIAMS my 1993 camaro 3.4l died on me while driving 5 times while driving it would take a minute to start back up was this cam sensor the problem
My 3.1 engine is running rough and should not run rough and starting from idle with a jerk. Next, change the sensor that is already giving s 341 error plus it added a 118 error.
@@barnettelectronicsreviews3797 got it fix on my monte Carlo an never stopped on me since drives real good an had a lot of things change on it recently
I have a Z34 Monte Carlo I have a Haynes manual and I took the pump off and it says it is right there for 3.4 engines, I do not see this thing dude. Help lol
you only have to do it if you change the relationship between the crankshaft and harmonic balancer. Like replacing the crank or harmonic balancer and etc. the sensor has nothing to do with a relearn. since all it does is read them. so as long as you get oem parts you shouldn't have a problem. I've replaced the cam/24x crankshaft sensor on a beretta at the same time and guess what. I didn't do a relearn and it's a 96 model.
Yeah that is what I though same on the Fords only if the crank pulley was removed and replaced the relearn needs to be done. The customer has not had any codes pop up and has passed emissions testing so they are happy!

where did the sensor plug go into ? how high to go up with engine
Great video it was very detailed and simple
Is this most of the 3.4 locations on silhouette
Best how to video man keep up the work I'm having problems with my 04 alero would love if you good give me some pointers
Nice video, Brian. Can you please explain in more detail how to support the engine with your method (wood and jack)?
Haynes suggests using a 3-point engine support fixture www.amazon.com/OEMTOOLS-24951-Point-Engine-Support/dp/B01GGBOQT2
Place a block on the jack and jack up to the oil pan and just lightly push up on the engine not too much just so it supports it not pushes on it
What tools did you use
Since I own a 2001 alero v6, is the sensor positioned the same. Also the code I received is p0336, would those be the same or different sensors
Another great video.
I liked and subscribed....I love videos like this they give me confidence

What are some symptoms of a bad crankshaft sensor

What the little black cap that you put on it .whats it called and were can i buy it

my family member has a similar engine to that but it's a 3.4L V6 3400 from a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero, is the sensor in the same location?
never mind, I looked at the title and answered my own question lol
Hi does the new one comes with a wire?
Yes

Could you just remove the power steering fluid housing to get access. The part that contains the power steering fluid

forgot the gm crank/cam variation relearn....
+phil holbrook yeah but is it really necessary for a cam sensor? I know crank sensor replacements are a must but not cams. Is this a GM thing?
yes. its a gm thing. itll throw a cam/crank correlation code if it isn't done. I didn't do the procedure once and it was a comeback
