it is 2024 and we have the GTX 1960 super ti, as AMD have released their 8500 XT to compete with the 1960 ti, but the 1960 super ti must be worse than the RTX 5060
For anyone overclocking their card, try to overclock the Memory by as much as you can since that gives the better performance over core clock. These cards can easily get +1000 on memory stable and if not try for anything over +500

In terms of actual performance, they would be extremely close together and I doubt it will make a practical difference. As for thermals, without having ever tested any ASUS ones I honestly cannot say there.
Do you think the 3 fan gigabyte 1660 super has better thermal performance? Its also $10 cheaper than MSi and still has that sweet RGB! I need to know thermal difference before I decide. Please help.
Please do a gtx 1660 ti overclocked vs gtx 1660 super overclocked as I am in search for new budget gtx 1660 ti but I am very confused with the benchmark.
I've always compared the two in a separate video, however I did not include overclocking as results vary by card anyway so it's hard to fairly compare. To be honest I probably won't have time to revisit it
Honestly have no idea if we'll even see 1660 super laptops, super exists to compete with AMD and there hasn't been such competition on the laptop side. That said with the 5500m coming out NVIDIA will need to close the large gap between the 1650 and 1660 Ti, my guess is they'll just do a 1660 as doing a single super option for laptops could be confusing, or maybe they will brand it there way to make it sound better, don't know just guessing

Also I'm looking for the rtx 2060 version... Do you think I'll be happy with my purchase?? Please reply man your answers are always the most satisfying !!!
Thanks! I mean it may very well throttle but I'm sure it will still play any game just fine with those specs, most laptops have some degree of thermal or power throttling under heavy load. That said I can't really speak in specifics as unfortunately I haven't had the chance to test that machine out yet. For some reason in Australia they're hard to get review units, I'm still waiting on them to send one over.
Prince Akhoury It should throttle a bit less with the 2060 as that’s a lower power part from the 2070 and 2080, and is a full 2060. Just be aware that you most likely won’t be hitting the 9750H’s all-core turbo of 4 GHz unless you want to dabble in repasting with higher quality thermal compound, as the stuff Dell makes Alienware use is garbage and that’s where the majority of the throttling will come from. Use ThrottleStop and put the CPU at a more manageable 3.5 or 3.6 GHz all-core boost and you’ll be fine for the most part with the stock paste.
@@zgoaty9235 hey thanks for your feedback buddy.. Well since I'll only be using it for gaming , will not hitting 4ghz matter so much?? Yeah i understand on cpu intensive games it might but overall I'm assuming I'll be good
Prince Akhoury Yeah, overall you should be good at least for hitting 60 fps 1080p high settings in newer games (don’t try to max out a lot of newer games and don’t expect good results with Ray Tracing, not just on this GPU, but on any laptop RTX GPU), but if all you’re playing is games with larger multiplayer userbases or games from early 2019 and earlier, I don’t think ultra settings, 60-80 fps in most games should be a huge issue. Just be prepared to uninstall and reinstall games often once your games start filling the SSD up unless you go for large capacity M.2 SSDs, as the m15 R2 (the one you’re looking at) and m17 R2 don’t support 2.5” SATA drives.
I don't really get the overclocking argument when comparing graphics cards. You didn't show the overclocked 1660 ti compared to the 1660 super, which may give people the wrong impression
Most of the people doesnt bother to OC their cards. So he just answered "can you overclock it?" question. Obviously 1660Ti can be overclocked too. And with its default 12Ghz memory speed and 14Ghz memory chips its going to gain much more from overclocking. Going into 2060 territory. But its irrelevent for most of the people.
@@PanaehaliTut yeah, but that's still not fair to compare an over clocked 1660 super to a stock 1660 ti and compare their values without showing that the 1660ti can be overclocked as well
I just wanted to show what you can expect from this specific model if you want to OC, though results will of course vary anyway which is why I think it's pretty useless, but if I don't add it people complain, this is the first time anyone's mentioned the other way 😁 I could have overclocked the Ti I guess, that would probably be better suited for a comparison between the two

I compared these benchmarks with jarrod's acer helios 1660 ti benchmarks video and found out the laptop 1660 ti sits somewhere between Desktop 1660 and 1660 Super. I know its not an apples to apples comparison but still good to know the difference between desktop and laptop isn't as huge as with the RTX mobile line up
I haven't used the LG so honestly can't compare based on my own experience. With the 240hz it's worth considering that you'll probably my only see 200+ fps to take advantage of it with eSports titles, which may also depend more on CPU power rather than GPU.
Slightly disappointed here, I was expecting 1660 super Overclocked vs 1660ti Overclocked. Personally I suspect 1660ti have greater OC potential than 1660 super, informative video none the less.

Here's a comparison to try: 1660 vs 1660 Super vs 1660 Ti Clock the core on all 3 cards to the same frequency But overclock the memory as high as possible The purpose is to test how memory overclocking affects performance and to test which card is better at memory overclocking.
@@JarrodsTech I am currently considering whether to buy a GTX 1660 Ti or GTX 1660 Super. What most people do not realize is that the 1660 Ti has underclocked memory. The memory on the 1660 Ti can be easily overclocked to the same speed or higher than the 1660 Super (which can also be overclocked). Maybe not all 1660 Ti's, but many or most or maybe all can overclock their memory beyond the 1660 Super (at stock speed). Few review sites are talking about this.
Yap it's also $400+ here on our country And my rtx 2080 ti OC is worth 1800usd+ which is sucks haha I think I'll just wait and wait and wait till the price gets lower haha.thnks for making a review hehe 😁.
Thanks! I've got detailed reviews of both, but the y540 has newer CPU and GPU so should perform better. The older y530 lets you manually set the fan speed to maximum which is a nice feature that they removed on the newer one for some reason, but I don't think that alone justifies picking it close compared to the better performance of the newer one
Gaming X is just MSI's branding for their top end option, basically it has a better cooler and higher boost clock out of the box and that's what you're paying for.
I'm building my first pc and bought the 1660 ti today recommended by a friend but now that I'm watching your video I'm thinking I should return the ti and just get the super
I did get offered some to cover a few weeks ago, but declined due to time constraints at the moment, I've got a lot of stuff here I need to work through first so I'll see how I go and if I can get them later.
what interrests me is the usage of watts on the data sheet stands 125W but you read out more than 220W even with the unclocked one so does i have to fear that my PSU isnt strong enough ? got an 550W beQuiet PSU running Hand ind Hand with an Ryzen 5 1600x
That's total system power draw from the wall, it includes CPU/RGB lighting and what ever else the system is doing - however regardless TDP does not equal power draw. 550w will be plenty for that.
Hi I will order from amazon the asus rug strix scar 2 rtx 2070 model as it in sale. is this laptop is better than the Acer predator helios 300 2019 1660ti model ? With respect to material and issues .who is better. Thanks in advance 😊☺️😀
The Scar was more plastic and Helios had more of a metal exterior from what I recall. The Helios will beat the Scar at low-med settings as it's tuned well out of the box and runs with a higher CPU power limit, it's also undervolted (you can do that yourself on the scar though). The current sale for a 2070 on the scar is pretty crazy, but yeah to take advantage of it you're going to want to run high settings to put the GPU to work.
Heh it still does well so no issue there, super is just better value but something was bound to come in and change things up eventually. If it helps I bought a Ti too so I could do the comparisons 😛
It's hard to say. We haven't seen super laptops yet because nvidia has no competition from AMD on the laptop side, but with the upcoming 5500m they'll have to do something, the gap between the 1650 and 1660 Ti is too big. I'd expect them just to finally do a 1660 for laptops but it could be a super version
The 3400G has integrated graphics, it won't run as well as something with dedicated cores/threads, you can get a Ryzen 5 2600 for 15 bucks less (at least on Amazon IT) and it has double the Cores and Threads
I got a good deal on techfast which included a 2600 and a 1660ti for $580, which is really good but the motherboard included is a biostar, and idk if I can trust it
Keep up the work but I have one critic point: I would really appreciate if you could speak a bit slower so i can understand everything. Apart from that great Video.😘
Thanks, some people say I talk too slow, guess you can't please everyone, might be better off changing the play speed in the RUclips player to suit your needs.
Probably, but realistically it would only be 1-2 FPS, and if you boosted fan speed and apply an OC in MSI Afterburner it would be capable of the same/better than this at stock.

1660 ti? $419AUD / 1660 super? $339AUD
However, this video made me realize the $80 difference isn't really worth the 2-5 fps gain 🤔
(or should i just stick with my 1060?)
1060 is still decent, depends whether or not you want more, if so the Ti is a waste and the Super is more worthwhile.
@@JarrodsTech aight thanks brother
So how many frames do you think it would be running in a fortnite battle royale match?
Would depend on CPU and other components, settings, resolution etc.
Jarrod'sTech okay thank you 🙏🏼:)
Here's a comparison to try: 1660 vs 1660 Super vs 1660 Ti
Clock the core on all 3 cards to the same frequency
But overclock the memory as high as possible
The purpose is to test how memory overclocking affects performance and to test which card is better at memory overclocking.
I guess could be interesting but will still vary by card
@@JarrodsTech I am currently considering whether to buy a GTX 1660 Ti or GTX 1660 Super.
What most people do not realize is that the 1660 Ti has underclocked memory. The memory on the 1660 Ti can be easily overclocked to the same speed or higher than the 1660 Super (which can also be overclocked). Maybe not all 1660 Ti's, but many or most or maybe all can overclock their memory beyond the 1660 Super (at stock speed). Few review sites are talking about this.
how many usbs does it come with?
Yap it's also $400+ here on our country
And my rtx 2080 ti OC is worth 1800usd+ which is sucks haha
I think I'll just wait and wait and wait till the price gets lower haha.thnks for making a review hehe 😁.
No problem! My 2080 Ti was $2200 AUD 😓😢😓
I bought GIGABYTE b450m ds3h is it okay if i will pair it with MSI GTX 1660 SUPER?
_Of course it is okay_
hmm let's see what are they going to release for laptops for the incoming year
Hopefully some news at CES in January!
Can’t you over clock the Ti ? I’m so confused
You can, but it's still a rip off compared to Super.
Jarrod'sTech fair point do you think it’s a good deal at $249 ? Or should I still get the super
Hey, would you recommend Legion y530 or y540? Btw love your channel
Thanks! I've got detailed reviews of both, but the y540 has newer CPU and GPU so should perform better. The older y530 lets you manually set the fan speed to maximum which is a nice feature that they removed on the newer one for some reason, but I don't think that alone justifies picking it close compared to the better performance of the newer one
so, the difference between a 1660 Super Gaming X and 1660 Super (without Gaming X) what is it?
Gaming X is just MSI's branding for their top end option, basically it has a better cooler and higher boost clock out of the box and that's what you're paying for.
I live in Australia and am trying to buy a PC now. Where should I buy my parts? I got arround 1.2k budget.
Pccasegear/mwave are pretty good
you should watch first on how to build for beginners
I'm building my first pc and bought the 1660 ti today recommended by a friend but now that I'm watching your video I'm thinking I should return the ti and just get the super
ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1660 SUPER or this MSI ????
ROG stuff is usually overpriced, the MSI cards are the better performing anyway, you'll also have them cheaper most likely
Would pairing this with the ryzen 5 1600 af be a good pair?
Would probably do pretty well
Hey JT please make a video on internal capture card and how to use it for streaming 😁
I did get offered some to cover a few weeks ago, but declined due to time constraints at the moment, I've got a lot of stuff here I need to work through first so I'll see how I go and if I can get them later.
@@JarrodsTech 🙂
what interrests me is the usage of watts on the data sheet stands 125W but you read out more than 220W even with the unclocked one so does i have to fear that my PSU isnt strong enough ? got an 550W beQuiet PSU running Hand ind Hand with an Ryzen 5 1600x
That's total system power draw from the wall, it includes CPU/RGB lighting and what ever else the system is doing - however regardless TDP does not equal power draw. 550w will be plenty for that.
i have msi gtx 1660s and when im playing i have 75°C gpu temp is that normal or something is bad?
Hi
I will order from amazon the asus rug strix scar 2 rtx 2070 model as it in sale. is this laptop is better than the Acer predator helios 300 2019 1660ti model ? With respect to material and issues .who is better.
Thanks in advance 😊☺️😀
The only problem is the price difference
The Scar was more plastic and Helios had more of a metal exterior from what I recall. The Helios will beat the Scar at low-med settings as it's tuned well out of the box and runs with a higher CPU power limit, it's also undervolted (you can do that yourself on the scar though). The current sale for a 2070 on the scar is pretty crazy, but yeah to take advantage of it you're going to want to run high settings to put the GPU to work.
Thanks for the review. I'm going with the 1660 Ti because it's cheaper in my country :)
No problem!
Thanks for rubbing salt into my already wounded heart, mate :")
I don't regret i bought a 1660 Ti...yep, i don't regret it at all :")
Umm... Do you know that you can overclock it as well? You definitely don't need to regret it. OC Ti can match some 2060 performance, Super can't.
@@davidmartinek5257 of course i do, mate :)
but i run most of my HW at stock, for longevity sake.
@@dendrobium.stamen If you keep them in safe max temps then there is no difference in terms of longevity.
Heh it still does well so no issue there, super is just better value but something was bound to come in and change things up eventually. If it helps I bought a Ti too so I could do the comparisons 😛
@@dendrobium.stamen if you want il trade you my brand new unopened super fot your ti? No joke let me know if your interested
wanted to know when the rx5500 will be available....waiting for it.....any dates...
Yeah not sure I still haven't heard anything 🤔
You sound like you're hitting a new form of puberty at the end of every sentence and I love it haha. "This isn't even my final FORM!"
Also, this is a killer review and I thank you for it!
It's not my final form tho
Jarrod'sTech you’re the man 🤙🏻
Do you think they will put this in laptops
It's hard to say. We haven't seen super laptops yet because nvidia has no competition from AMD on the laptop side, but with the upcoming 5500m they'll have to do something, the gap between the 1650 and 1660 Ti is too big. I'd expect them just to finally do a 1660 for laptops but it could be a super version
Super have a better relation quality /price than 1660 ti.
Yeah
sir sorry newbie on PC build. Can i pair this GPU w/ Ryzen 5 3400g and ASUS B450 gaming-pro mobo. (currenty i have)
The 3400G has integrated graphics, it won't run as well as something with dedicated cores/threads, you can get a Ryzen 5 2600 for 15 bucks less (at least on Amazon IT) and it has double the Cores and Threads
I have that card still in a sealed box, waiting on my new MB.
Can I ask how much did u get this for?
I got a good deal on techfast which included a 2600 and a 1660ti for $580, which is really good but the motherboard included is a biostar, and idk if I can trust it
Hmm yeah I'd probably give that a miss myself.
Keep up the work but I have one critic point:
I would really appreciate if you could speak a bit slower so i can understand everything.
Apart from that great Video.😘
Thanks, some people say I talk too slow, guess you can't please everyone, might be better off changing the play speed in the RUclips player to suit your needs.
@@JarrodsTech that´s right. I did´nt think of that. :D
This gpu with ryzen 5 3600 a good combo?
Sounds decent yeah
Jarrod'sTech what about the Ryzen 5 3600x? Would that be good too
Helps in my decision making
Happy to help!
Would msi ventus gtx 1660 super perform worse than the model in this video?
Probably, but realistically it would only be 1-2 FPS, and if you boosted fan speed and apply an OC in MSI Afterburner it would be capable of the same/better than this at stock.
@@JarrodsTech i bought msi ventus gtx 1660 super, and i can return it and add 50$ on it to get the gaming X version, would you do it??? like is it worth that 50$????
Hell yea great video sir, very informative and I appreciate that you compared it to another MSI product and the fact that more metal causes a slight price increase
Thanks!
TLDW (I think): They are the same basically, the super can fill the gap of the 1660Ti with overclocking, super is just 1660 but a bit better I suppose.
Are there any guides to over clocking?
Search for MSI afterburner tutorial
@@JarrodsTech thanks
I’m building a PC soon but I’m gonna wait for the comparison for the RX 5500 whenever it releases.
I have a laptop with a 1660 Ti and tbh, it's amazing. Leagues better than my old tower was. If you're building a budget rig, I'd say go for the 1660 Ti simply because it's no expensive and you're getting the performance of a 1070
Fair enough! I'll probably buy one to do a comparison with on the channel
Would this be a good build for 950 usd with the 1660 super the Ryzen 3600x and 16gb of ram
Should be good yeah.
Thanks, I choose
super gaming x.
Is it compatible with AMD chipset cpus?
Yes, that doesn't matter at all as long as the motherboard offers PCIe 3 (anything in the last 10 years or so).
do you have to plug in a rgb header
So overclock to +160 mhz and + 500 mhz is safe ?
Any is safe, just depends whether it's stable. You only start running into unsafe if you are modifying voltage/power.
What kind of memory on your sample ? Micron or samsung ?
got my son a 1650 super OC +160 and +900 LOL now other son wants a 1660 super ugh daughter getting the i7 9700k for creative stuff , what stimulus check might have enough to buy a bag of Cheetos LOL
The 1660 Super definitely is the budget beast, but the 1660 Ti still is a great of a card right, would you say?
Sure, the Ti is great, it's just a bit pointless if you're buying today as the small extra performance isn't worth the money.
however, the price of 1660 super vs 1660 ti is the same in Hong Kong. or just 20 bucks different .. more or less
guys should i get this one or a gtx 1070
How about the fan noise on full load?
It's not 1660 Super. There is no Super logo in it. You lying AGAIN?!
:drinking:
Listen here buddy I intentionally included a shot of the box in the video which does say super 😎
@@JarrodsTech Damn it! I lost the battle, but not the war! Till we meet again, JT!
If I didn't get my high end 1660ti with overclocking for $255 i'd feel burned. Bet 1660 buyers are pissed.
rip
Can this GPU run everygames?
I don't know what that is, but this will play any modern game at 1080p high settings no problem.
What does OC means
Over Clock! LMAO!
OVerclocked by the manufacturer so you don't have to overclock it urself.. otherwise you can just buy the non OC one and Overclock it yourself if you're comfortable doing it
Gtx 1660 super would be nice to have
Except is sold out 27/11/2020
I have overclocked this card to 2145MHz and memory to 7420MHz..The card is stable at those frequency and run at 69 degree C
Nice!
What kind of fps jumps did you get with that oc ?
@@bajafishtaco Far Cry 4 5 fps more, Max Payne 3 20 fps more Crysys 3 120Fps max didnt have a chance to play more modern games but the difference betwen 1800Mhz and 2140Mhz is not huge difference..I bought the card to play Company of heroes 2 but Im disapointed because the card spits only 60 Fps (1080p) but thats old games .I expected like 120 Fps..

1660 super 389$ cad. 1660ti 424$ cad. Mine as well pay the extra 60$ for that tiny bit better performance here.
I hope that's sarcasm 😛
The way i think about it is Nvidia is making the people who bought the GTX1660ti feel regret of buying it
