    Does the 1660 Super even need to exist? Should they have just lowered the price of the Ti instead, or deprecated the Ti? 🤔

    • @guitarprogrock
      @guitarprogrock 4 года назад +53

      I agree. Nvidia's gone GPU crazy, putting out a new GPU every month for the last 11 months. Enough is enough. It's just making the market muddied and confused.

      I think the whole Turing launch and lineup has been kind of a cash grab. When I saw the original RTX 2070, with no SLI support and the TU106 die, I knew it was all a scam. Of course, the 2070 Super does have the proper TU104 die. I think it really has to do with the naming and pricing of the entire product stack. They can keep the current pricing scheme, if they apply it to the product above it. In other words, RTX Titan should have been the new 2080Ti keeping the 2080Ti's price, the 2080Ti should have been the new 2080, the 2080 the 2070, and so on. This could justify the prices, by giving each card an exponential performance boost over it's last gen variant. Plus the whole "Real Time Ray Tracing" thing, just wasn't ready. And it won't be for a while either.
      Basically now what has happened is there are too many SKU's, the products have become so close to each other, that people are getting confused as to which is which. Like the old saying, "When you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit!". Unfortunately, Nvidia's not alone in this.
      Excellent work, as always, Jarrod!

      They should make the 1660 Super higher than the Ti, and made it with more cores, 14Gbps GDDR6 etc, etc, and made it $300 card, after that lower the price of Ti version to $250. Cause well, that will be better for the consumer hehehe. And yeah another good performance, since for me why do even they released card like this? Why not just made a better card and lower the others card price, rather than made a slower card. Maybe it's all about profit and money, cause people will buy it in the end.

    • @TheMisterBlueberry
      @TheMisterBlueberry 4 года назад +3

      Yeah, I don't get it either. I really don't see the point in this card at all.
      Slighlty slower that the Ti? 50$ difference? This is terrible branding and model flooding the market. It might be interesting for GPU mining MAYBE, as 4 cards would be 200$ cheaper. But for gaming there's no need for the super to exist.

    • @Akiwaaa_
      @Akiwaaa_ 4 года назад +5

      @@TheMisterBlueberry There's one reason that 1660 Super may exist, for people with tight budget, but still want a good performance with the best value. I mean for people that don't want to spend too much money or can't, they can just choose the Super even tho it's a little bit slower, and in some games even just 2 - 5 FPS slower, this card is $50 cheaper, which is a really great deal.

The 1650 at its current price point is a bad buy, the 1660 at $220 is now a bad buy when you can spend a little more and get much higher performance on average, and the 1660 Ti is now a bad buy at $280 when there’s little performance difference between the 1660 Super and 1660 Ti. Sounds like that extra ~$50.00 pays for more than JUST the 3% bump in 1440p and 1080p. It also takes into account the difference in power drawn and temperature regulation. However minor those differences are, they all add up to better performance for a graphic card that costs no more than a few hours pay in difference between the two cards.

    For this video, the "Ti" stands for "tiny improvement".
    Don't be tricked. You can overclock or volt-mod the GTX 1660 Super variant to be on par, or better than the GTX 1660 Ti because they're the same PCB-wise.
    But of course, it takes time, knowledge and the right tools to do what I said, so if you guys see the small difference in price being small for the difference in performance, then go for the GTX 1660 Ti ;D

    • @nobody8685
      @nobody8685 Год назад

      @@slayerkhan01 You can but not as much.
      Because the Ti and Super variant are hardware-wise the same, only the BIOS changed it's clocks and voltages, so that makes them "better" while having same GPU, same VRAM and so on. A clever one would shunt the 1660 OC and get it on par with the Ti, or even (if they're lucky) to come by a BIOS with higher voltage control. That solution wouldn't need any tampering with the GPU hardware itself so it is the best option.

    I think one of the advantages of the SUPER over the Ti is it's overclocking limits. I have the Gigabyte version 1660 super and I have it running stable at 2,100 clock speed. I don't think the Ti can do that. I currently have the top graphics speed on 3DMark Firestrike, running with an i7-3770 with a graphics score of over 6,700. Pretty impresive for a slightly bottlenecked CPU that only scores 3,500 on TimeSpy CPU test.
